Run by one of the best chefs in the world, Ferran Adria, this must-see in Roses is an acknowledged mecca for foodies. The 35-course grand tasting menu is a complete symphony of tastes,textures and wonder, as evidenced by the oysters topped with smoked Iberian pancetta above. From start to finish, the dining experience revolves around intimacy, topped with an air of exclusivity. The restaurant holds only 50 people, has just one seating per night and limits its operation from the months of March through October. When winter is in full force and I really need to get away from it all with someone special (beyond a quick jaunt to the Caribbean or Mexico), my preference is the Maldives.
