Here’s the new video directed by Charlie Doran of Shit Robot’s new single “Feels Real” released last month on DFA Records. In case you didn’t know Shit Robot is a project from Irish producer Marcus Lambkin, who used to open many LCD Soundsystem concerts in the past. The video features many closed-up mouths, including The Rapture’s lead singer Luke Jenner. Make sure to buy your copy of the single via DFA Store. Watch out your mouth!
Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories was released yesterday, May 21st, and while we’re still absorbing the new work, the duo prepared one last surprise for their fans. Nothing more, nothing less, than a bonus track called “Horizon” released exclusively on Japan iTunes. This little piece has been played on repeat all morning here at Golden Scissors, and probably, it will be played on repeat for the rest of the week. The single is delicate, bright, and very much addictive. It has some sort of magical vibe conveyed by a hazy guitar together with a simple and beautiful synth-line. “Horizon” will eventually surprise you, just like the entire album did. It shows a different direction. It’s clear that Daft Punk’s music is more mature, eclectic, and you can easily feel that every single detail is well designed and planned. We’re preparing a full review of the album. We have no rush to make it public, because we’re still listening to the work very carefully. It’s a huge responsibility to review such a brilliant piece of gold, that for sure will stay in the history of electronic music. Legendary Disco producer, Giorgio Moroder, played recently his first-ever DJ Set in the United States at Output in Brooklyn, NY. We’re honest fans of the Italian disco icon, way before the recent boom, specially after his participation on Daft Punk’s latest album “Random Access Memories.” If you’re not familiarized with the background of Giorgio Moroder, you should definitely make some research. He’s the man responsible for convincing Donna Summer to sing, helping the disco queen produce some of her greatest hits. He also produced for notable artists such as David Bowie and Blondie amongst others. For more info about his bio, check out this link. According to some of our friends that were at the spot, he really pushed the soundsystem into the limit. In his set, he performed “Racer,” |listen here| a song he produced in collaboration with Google Chrome Experiments. Then, he kept on playing some disco classics such as “Love to Love You Baby,” “I Feel Love,” “On The Radio,” and “Hot Stuff,” all by the late Donna Summer. By the end of the set he recreated “Giorgio by Moroder,” just like on the Daft Punk album. We’re truly enjoying to see Moroder’s comeback, specially for everything he represents for the electronic music worldwide and its development. Giorgio Moroder is without a doubt a living legend. Everyone should at least read his bio and try to understand his relevance for the electronic music evolution. Airbird & Napolian is a project from Joel Ford, known as one half of Ford & Lopatin (Airbird), and Ian Evans (Napolian). Today Cascine shared the second single titled “Special,” which is taken from their forthcoming album to be released during the winter. The first single “In The Zone” features guest vocals from Erika Spring of Au Revoir Simone. It conveys a hazy and chill atmosphere, very well designed together with Erika’s golden voice. Judging by these two tracks, we can only expect a solid and varied album. Both singles takes a different path. Whereas “In The Zone” takes a slow direction with an interesting deep and funky bass line, “Special” is more orientated for the dance floor. It has a super cool and party mood, denoting some French Disco influences, and an interesting vocal chopped work. We’re positively impressed by the quality and creativity of this project. While we wait for the whole thing, you can already buy both singles on itunes. Stay tuned for more love from Airbird & Napolian.

The amazing Australian label, Future Classic, has just shared the new video of Touch Sensitive‘s fantastic single “Pizza Guy” released last month. This super production is directed by Entropico (http://entropico.com.au/). The video features appearances from Flume, Jagwar Ma, Chet Faker, Nina Las Vegas, and Van She. The pizza guy driving the 1985 400i Ferrari is actually the real Mickey (Touch Sensitive) himself. In case you missed this excellent release, make sure to grab it on beatport. UK producer Michael Greene (aka Fort Romeau) has just shared a brand new remix of Holy Other’s “Held.” The original single is taken from Manchester producer debut album also titled “Held” released last year. Romeau’s treatment doesn’t mischaracterize the original. In fact, it respects the the essence of “Held,” only adding a groovy bassline and a great vocal work. For what we read on Greene’s soundcloud account, he made this this work while touring together with Holy Other, and finally here’s a mastered version, and 100% free download. As you may already know we’re big fans of almost everything Fort Romeau puts out, specially for his stunning edit of Beacon’s magical single “Feeling’s Gone” |listen/download|. It’s a fantastic weather in the Azores! Gladly I have the chance to listen to the nature waking up every day. The first track from our set is from UK producer “SizzleBird,” and to be honest I have never heard about him before. Another of those finds that you feel bad for not knowing before. I picked up the single “April Sunlight,” specially for the positive and bright energy it conveys. For sure you’ll repeat it, over and over again… So simple yet so beautiful.

And finally someone did a remix for one of the best songs of 2013. We have previously featured TWOS and he’s not a newcomer for anyone, anymore. His redemption of Lapalux’s “Without You” is pure gold! He doesn’t change much the feeling of the original, but the vocal work is amazing and the general flow of this track is pure gold. Louisville producer Caleb Cornett (aka Amtrac) quickly became one of our favorite producers around here. It’s quite interesting to see the capacity that Caleb denotes to ramble between several genres of the electronic world, without loosing identify. If you’re following Amtrac for some time now, you will have to agree with us that his original material is always good. Just like the endless amount of remixes he has been dropping non-stop. For instance, his redemption of Chromatics “Birds Of Paradise” is without a doubt one of the best tracks we heard in 2012! Today Amtrac shared his official remix of The Knocks’s massive single “The Modern Hearts” Feat. St. Lucia. Once again, we’re facing a brilliant floor filler, full of heart and soul. This version is perfectly suitable for any Dj Set or even to listen at home. It starts with a little build that slowly fades away, followed by a perfect kick heading you straight to the dance floor. The vocal stays almost untouchable. You will find small variations of tone, but nothing that really mischaracterize it. If you’re looking for something to cheer you up for the weekend, this might be the answer. This remix is already available on beatport along side with more treatments by Goldroom, NAPT, Treasure Fingers, and NAPT. Just wow!
Watch out the Juveniles! These kids are clearly taking their music into the next level. Here’s the official video for the fantastic single “Fantasy” taken from their forthcoming album. If you already heard this track, and you’re regular client of hype machine, you already know that this track completely smashed the popular spot. Canadian producer Pat Lok has just made our day over here at Golden Scissors! Here’s a very cool edit he did of Cashmere Cat‘s brilliant “Kiss Kiss.” In fact the original single is probably the second most hyped single from Oslo producer, right after “Mirror Maru.” About this work, minor changes were introduced here. Although, this might the perfect club edit if you’re DJ and you want to play this track on your set. Pat Lok extended the original version, redraft the intro by adding a nice background kick (perfect to mix with the previous track). He also added an interesting house feeling together with a light piano-line right before that awesome build around the min 03:24. It’s not fair to say that this edit is better than the original, but it is definitely an excellent DJ tool. The good new is that this work is going to be available as free download via Pat Lok’s facebook account, as soon as he reach 3000 fans. In case you haven’t already, make sure to buy Cashmere Cat’s “Mirror Maru” EP on itunes, which is by far one of the most interesting and creative releases from 2012!

We have previously shared several times music from Swiss producer Worship! There’s always something magical behind his retro-futuristic 80′s synth magical sound. If you remember a couple years ago, this specific genre was very much the “scene,” just like Deep House presently. Worship already count with several remixes for people such as Moullinex or B-Xentric. His music has been equally played by the likes of Goldroom, Anoraak, Zimmer, just to name a few. If you’re fan of Worship, you already know that his glamorous synthesizer is the main character of his sound. For what we know “Close Encounter EP” was initially supposed to be a two tracks single, ending up into a five track EP with 4 original singles and a remix from Dutch producer Auxiliary tha Masterfader of the track “Orion Forever.” As rule we pick up only one track to dedicate some words, but the truth is that the whole thing sounds more interesting if you listen from the start, till the end. If we had to choose a favorite, maybe it would be “Alpha Centauri.” Honestly, it cause us a shiver feeling down the spine! We already know that the movement used to bigger, and it is our mission to support the artists and labels behind these productions. Obviously that’s why we always try support the movement, specially when something is made with love and soul. Without a doubt that we’re facing an excellent release!
“Close Encounter” is being released via Holographic People, and it is available on Junodownload since May 15. Also, Holographic People joined forces with Ricoché in order to offer a limited edition of 50 cassettes. The cassette comes with two exclusive tracks, two badges, and equally access to a digital copy of the EP. I know what you’re thinking already! Might sound a bit old fashion, right? Since Modular is giving away the modern classic “Shooting Stars” from Australian duo Bag Raiders, I thought it would be a good idea to post it just to make sure we will have it forever in our database. Without a doubt that “Shooting Stars” is one of those tracks I’ve been hearing non stop since 2009! I clearly remember to play this one for the people here on the island, and it was always one of the highlights of the night. It’s truly incredible how a single track can bring us so many good memories. Anyway, the duo is already in studio recording the new album to be released during the current year. Great news golden people! L.A.-based duo Cosmic Kids just shared a brand new remix of Little Boots’ “Broken Record.” If you’re familiarized with the original, you’re going to be positively surprised with this excellent interpretation. The duo basically rewashed the whole piece, applying their natural golden touch. It’s impossible to stay indifferent to this work, specially because of its brightness and positive atmosphere. Despite keeping the feeling from the original, this remix takes off the pop side stamp, reversing it into some sort of alternative version bringing all the best elements from the original together with an addictive synth-line. Sweet. This remix is the freebie from Little Boots’ remix package, already available on beatport since April 29, featuring more reworks from Hackman, The Shapeshifters, Dief & Baker, Dance Dub Tim G, and Ossie.
