Sandy's Invisa HTR 7000 Set-Up Tips

The new Invisa Home Theater Reference In-Ceiling speakers are now shipping and early reports are that they are AMAZING! So, I wanted to give you a few set-up and installation tips to insure you get the same great results.

First, I would suggest that you start with the tweeter level switch in the "+" position. As you know, the ideal tweeter level on this kind of speaker is very variable depending on room acoustics, positioning and personal taste. I would suggest starting there and then adjusting to taste. Second, you can, and should, rotate the Left and Right HTR 7000s in the ceiling so that they point at the central listening position (as we suggest for our freestanding speakers), as shown in the Owners Manual diagram (see below). This will give you the widest possible ideal listening area.

Sandy's Triton Two and Three Setup Tips

The Tritons are relatively easy to set up, but I wanted to give you a few tips from my personal experience and perspective.

First, if they have just come off the truck or from a cold warehouse, let them come to room temperature before playing. Regarding placement, I like to set them up fairly far apart (even further apart than you are from the speakers) and toe'd in right at, or pointed a little behind, the listening position. If possible, locate the speakers a foot or two out from the rear wall and away from the side walls. Try not to have them the same distance from the side and rear walls. Spikes are included and we recommend them for installation after you have the Tritons properly positioned in your room.

Hi Fi Choice's Jason Kennedy, one of England's most critical reviewers, concludes his review of the Aon 3 bookshelf speakers in the February 2013 Issue of HiFi Choice with "... this unusual standmount is hugely entertaining, revealing and excellent value for the money" and gives them the coveted HiFi Choice Recommended Award!

Home Theater Magazine's June 2012 Issue mentions the upcoming GoldenEar SuperCinema 3D Array Soundbar in their Coming Attractions article saying: "Secret Sauce: The 3D Array drivers eliminate crosstalk between the left and right channels that has been shown by research to hinder perception of 3D image cues that are present in recordings, but are 'dramatically corrupted in typical soundbar playback' due to the proximity of the (left and right channel) drivers". Chris Martens - CEDIA 2011: GoldenEar founder Sandy Gross explained the genesis of the Aon design by saying that a colleague had raved to him about the performance of an exotic, $6000/pair of stand-mount monitors. After hearing the monitors, and reflecting on what he had heard, Gross was convinced that the GoldenEar design team, led by GoldenEar co-founder Don Givogue, could create a product that could meet or beat that level of performance, but at a much lower price. The result is the Aon design.

After hearing a variety of pieces of music on the Aon 3s in the GoldenEar booth, we suspect Gross and company are on to something. As it happens, I visited the GoldenEar booth just after hearing a very expensive floorstanding speaker elsewhere at the show, and I felt the Aon 3 was—on the whole—the better speaker.

Triton Two Selected by Absolute Sound in Annual Recommended Systems

In this year's annual Recommended Systems issue of The Absolute Sound (December 2011 Issue) GoldenEar's Triton Two loudspeaker was selected as the loudspeaker of choice for one of their "We Pick the Best" Recommended Systems. This is a very high honor in that out of all the loudspeaker systems available today, only eight speaker systems were chosen for the six different price-range systems. In the summary they say "The Triton Two has an almost electrostatic-like transparency in the mids, a gorgeous fatigue-free treble, and a top-to-bottom seamlessness that makes it easy to forget you are listening to a loudspeaker".
