The new Invisa Home Theater Reference In-Ceiling speakers are now shipping and early reports are that they are AMAZING! So, I wanted to give you a few set-up and installation tips to insure you get the same great results.

First, I would suggest that you start with the tweeter level switch in the "+" position. As you know, the ideal tweeter level on this kind of speaker is very variable depending on room acoustics, positioning and personal taste. I would suggest starting there and then adjusting to taste. Second, you can, and should, rotate the Left and Right HTR 7000s in the ceiling so that they point at the central listening position (as we suggest for our freestanding speakers), as shown in the Owners Manual diagram (see below). This will give you the widest possible ideal listening area.

The Tritons are relatively easy to set up, but I wanted to give you a few tips from my personal experience and perspective.

First, if they have just come off the truck or from a cold warehouse, let them come to room temperature before playing. Regarding placement, I like to set them up fairly far apart (even further apart than you are from the speakers) and toe'd in right at, or pointed a little behind, the listening position. If possible, locate the speakers a foot or two out from the rear wall and away from the side walls. Try not to have them the same distance from the side and rear walls. Spikes are included and we recommend them for installation after you have the Tritons properly positioned in your room.

Here again we have a product that seems at first to be yet another soundbar, but just one listen will convince most listeners that there is something markedly different and better about this product—something that sets it far apart from its competition. So maybe after all these years it's time to describe those tracks that are my all-time favorites - and you'll probably hear me play again and again because they're so good. But first I want to point out that I have always selected material that allows me to suspend disbelief when listening. What I mean is, I want to sit down to listen and in moments forget I'm listening to a stereo system and be transported to the performance or control room of the studio. Here are some of my favorites...

This L/C/R bar uses six of GoldenEar's cast-basket bass/midrange drivers and three High-Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeters, with interaural crosstalk cancellation technology to help counteract the drivers' proximity to each other. It's a passive soundbar, which means you need to mate it with an external amplifier/receiver. I personally prefer the more natural sound of passive soundbars. For the complete multi-channel experience, you can add surrounds and a ForceField sub from GoldenEar's line."

Robert Kozel / CEDIA 2012 / Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity "I stopped by GoldenEar Technology to listen to the final product version of the SuperCinema 3D Array. The SuperCinema 3D Array uses three high velocity folded-ribbon tweeters and six midrange drivers to create the sound of left, center, and right channel speakers all from one speaker. The demonstration of the SuperCinema 3D Array created an engaging soundstage with beautiful imaging and clarity. Pair the array with a GoldenEar ForceField subwoofer and a pair of SuperSat surround-speakers, and you can easily create an impressive home theater without the need for floor-standing speakers."

The review was written by their chief honcho, Jeff Dorgay, who was so impressed when he heard the Aons at the CES demo that he wanted to review them himself. He gave them a full workout on all kinds of program material and, of course, his conclusion that, "the amount of music that these speakers reveal is nothing short of a miracle" really says it all.

PerfectVision/AVguide Comments on New Aon Speakers at CEDIA 2011

Chris Martens - CEDIA 2011: GoldenEar founder Sandy Gross explained the genesis of the Aon design by saying that a colleague had raved to him about the performance of an exotic, $6000/pair of stand-mount monitors. After hearing the monitors, and reflecting on what he had heard, Gross was convinced that the GoldenEar design team, led by GoldenEar co-founder Don Givogue, could create a product that could meet or beat that level of performance, but at a much lower price. The result is the Aon design.

After hearing a variety of pieces of music on the Aon 3s in the GoldenEar booth, we suspect Gross and company are on to something. As it happens, I visited the GoldenEar booth just after hearing a very expensive floorstanding speaker elsewhere at the show, and I felt the Aon 3 was—on the whole—the better speaker.

September 13, 2011 | by Grant Clauser - About a year ago speaker veteran Sandy Gross launches a new company, GoldenEar. Because his designs have been the center of so many successful speaker brands, many people in the industry had high hopes for what the speaker boss would do next.

The results didn’t disappoint. The company’s first products, the Triton Two tower speakers, TritonCinemas and SuperCinema satellite system won instant praise. Now, a year after the launch, the company is expanding with powerful, but compact, bookshelf models as well as architectural speakers for installation in ceilings and walls.

After sitting in on a listening session, we got Gross to talk about the new products:

In this year's annual Recommended Systems issue of The Absolute Sound (December 2011 Issue) GoldenEar's Triton Two loudspeaker was selected as the loudspeaker of choice for one of their "We Pick the Best" Recommended Systems. This is a very high honor in that out of all the loudspeaker systems available today, only eight speaker systems were chosen for the six different price-range systems. In the summary they say "The Triton Two has an almost electrostatic-like transparency in the mids, a gorgeous fatigue-free treble, and a top-to-bottom seamlessness that makes it easy to forget you are listening to a loudspeaker".

Pick up the December 2011 Issue, on newstands now, and check out all their comments on the Triton Two.
