The Trash Culture Revue is set to return to Cork with an eclectic mix of art, literature, theatre, gigs, slam poetry, film, food and workshops. It’s like no other arts festival in the country as it’s all produced on a zero budget by members of Ireland’s only free online arts skills exchange, mutantspace.com.

With over 1,000 members, Mutantspace skills exchange is delighted to be hosting another Trash Culture Revue. Taking place over two days, it kicks off at the Roundy, at 7pm on Friday November 25, with its fifth short film competition, ‘Mutant Rooms’. Later on that evening the Mutant Cabaret kicks off at 9pm featuring a jam packed mash up of spoken word, music, storytelling and poetry.

The second day of the revue sees The Woodford and The Old FAS building hosting events at 2pm on Saturday November 26. A short, intimate performance for a single audience member entitled, ‘Traveller’s Tales’: A one to one story exchange, takes place at The Woodford while The Provisional University presents a talk, ‘Critical Times’ in the Old FAS building.

Mutantspace is delighted to be hosting three exhibitions during the Festival; ‘Roots + Radicals’: Drawings by Susan Leen and ‘Disaster Cork’: Cut up street art by Leo Boyd. Both are on show at The Elysian Art Trail Venue while Carolyn Collier will be presenting ‘Daily Rituals’: A Lightbox exhibition at Tom Barrys on Barrack Street. There will also be a family Mini Mutant Tea Party by Veg Out at 3pm on Saturday afternoon at The Elysian. All three shows will be running for two weeks

Returning to The Roundy on the Saturday night, A Vision of Electro Trash featuring Djs and Film will begin at 9pm. The alternative gig for the evening and which remains elusive for now sees the return of Bill Coleman perform a secret gig at 9pm on Saturday November 26.

Goldiefish are delighted to be working with the Corona Cork Film Festival for this year’s Film Festival Market on Emmet Place. Expect local street food and plenty of local artisain produce lining the pavements of Emmet Place on Sunday the 6th and 13th of November.

Produce wil include: Artisain baker Shannen Keane from Diva Cakes, On the Pigs Back form the English Market, O’Flynn’s Gourmet Sausages, Cork Coffee Roasters, Sheila Hamis vegetarian savouries and lot’s more. The Corona Cork Film Festival Market is produced by Goldiefish. We have an exciting weekend coming up with the Cork International Folk Festival. We’re running our annual festival market on the Grand Parade in Cork. And on Sunday the festival will be hosting its outdoor Ceile Mor at the market so if you feel up to doing the Seige of Ennis then why not come down and join in – you don’t need to know how to dance as there will be festival dancers there to give you a helping hand. Besides its only a bit of craic.

As well as the market we’ve been running childrens carnival workshops for the last 4 weeks in the City Library in preparation for our community carnival parade that will be starting off at Brown Thomas on Patrick Street and heading down Oliver Plunkett Street to the Market. The parade will be starting at 2pm and led by the Ballyphehane Pipe Band and Cork Music Works Samba Band. So, if you and your family want to join in you’re very welcome. There should be loads of extra hats, masks, flags and musical instruments to wear and play.

Got some great gigs, artisan markets and events on in Cork this week in the goldiefish world. On Friday evening we’re running a market as part of Culture Night at Cork County Hall. We’ll have a great mix of craft, produce and hot food to go. That kicks off at 4pm and will go on til about 9pm.

We’ve also got a street musician down at The Blackrock Observatory doing card tricks and more for the kids and people will get the opportunity to see mobiles – hanging from olive trees in the courtyard – made by kids in an art workshop we held down there last Sunday.

On Friday night one of Corks bestsingers, Annette Buckley, is launching her new EP in The Roundy, Castle Street so that will be a must see gig. So if you’re out and about in Cork on Friday night check it out. However, I’m telling you know, be early or you won’t get in – this is an intimate gig which means it’s going to be packed.

On Saturday if you’ve got kids and are looking to keep them occupied we’ve got Cork Folk Festival Arts Workshops going on from 10am – 2pm in the Cork City Central Library. They’re free and we’re hoping parents and kids will get involved and participate in our Kids Parade as part of the Folk Festival next Sunday, 2nd October. More information to come…

Saturday night New York singer – songwriter Brendan O’Shea will be playing in The ROundy at 7pm. Hes a fantastic musician and well worth catching…

As part of the International Cork Folk Festival 2011 Goldiefish events is hosting a series of free children’s carnival workshops every Saturday in September at the Cork City Central Library, Grand Parade, Cork for the 2nd annual Folk Festival Carnival Parade

Goldiefish events have teamed up with the Cork Folk Festival to bring you a month of carnival workshops in the lead up to our 2nd annual festival parade. We’re looking for children of all ages to come along and make their own instruments, masks and hats every Saturday in September at the Cork City Central Library on Grand Parade. So why not drop in make something, get involved and participate in our parade which will be held on Sunday 2nd October.

If you want to take part in the parade, just walk along or clap participants just turn up outside Brown Thomas on Patrick Street at 1.30pm on Sunday 2nd October. We’ll be kicking off at 2pm and heading down Oliver Plunkett Street to the Ceile Mor on Grand Parade, Cork

The workshops will are running from Saturday 17th September to Saturday 1st October and will run from 10am – 2pm. The workshops are suitable for all ages and are free of charge.

It’s that time again – the festival markets are coming hard and fast. In 3 weeks we have the Cork Folk Festival Market and then at the end of October we have the Cork Jazz  Festival Market.

For the Folk Food Market we’ll have over 30 stalls featuring food and craft stalls along the Grand Parade. There will also be a taste of the best of what folk festival has to offer with on-street musicians playing throughout the weekend. The Folk and Food Market will be open on Friday 30th September, Saturday 1st October and Sunday 2nd October.

Applications will be open for the Jazz Festival pretty soon. For any more info just get in contact with Rose-Anne

This week we have some great latin, jazz and salsa gigs in at The Roundy Room Sessions. Tonight we have our weekly and fantastic Comedy Improv superstars, Snatch, who kick off at 10pm.
Tomorrow night we have our regular salsa night and if you fancy doing more than just listening to cool latino beats they also provide lessons at 8pm.
On Wednesday we have our monthly Blue Note Session which, if you’re into jazz, is always a superb night of jazz classics taken from the famous blue note record label.
Thursday sees Roundy regulars, The Grunts, play a down to earth Indie rock set and on friday we have the Colin McLean Latin Trio treating us to seriously good Spanish and South American music influenced by the likes of Oscar Lopez, Luis Villegas and of course Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Welcome to our new Goldiefish events site. Its cleaner, easier to manage and we really hope you’ll get more involved in it, leave comments, look around and let us know how we can improve it. Up until now we had spent a long time hanging on to an old style site that made life difficult and was not user friendly. This has all changed with our new look.

So who have we got playing in The Roundy Room Sessions in Cork next week? Well as usual we have a great mix of acts from Snatch Comedy Improv who perform every Monday night to the Azucar Salsa night which is on every Tuesday night and includes beginner dancing classes and Salsa and latino DJs.

Next Wednesday we have our monthly Drop- D ezine ambient night with the following bands playing; Sea Of Okhotsk and Mersk. On friday we have a great indie rock band from Waterford playing in Cork for the first time, Kodakid.
