Does Music Change Your Heartbeat?

2021-12-19T19:25:00.003+05:30

Music can help you exercise more effectively, reduce stress and anxiety, and speed up your recovery after a stroke. You may not know it, but music activates not just your auditory system, but also many other areas of your brain, including the heart, those that control movement, language, attention, memory, and emotion.

"Music has the ability to immediately reach the heart; it does not require mediation," noted physicist Oliver Sacks. Classical music is recognised to reduce heart rate and blood pressure, and medical evidence backs up his claim.

Heartbeat Rate

Frequency beat, density, tone, rhythm, repetition, loudness, and lyrics are all components of music. The cardiovascular system is modulated by cardiovascular autonomic function, which syncs with various musical rhythms. The parasympathetic nervous system is triggered when we listen to slow beat music, which lowers our heart rate, but the sympathetic nervous system is stimulated when we listen to fast beat music, which raises our heart rate.

High school students' pulse rates were tracked while they listened to music from various genres. The impacts of various types of music were evaluated using heart rate monitors, data collection tools, and songs from free music libraries. Rock music resulted in significantly higher average heart rates comparatively. Individuals' heart rates were also much lower when listening to classical music and higher when listening to their favourite. This implies that simply listening to music might cause one's heart rate to drop or rise.

Pulse Rate and Blood Pressure

The researchers wanted to see how slow and rapid rhythm music affected heart rate and blood pressure. Cross-sectional research was done on 100 healthy persons between the ages of 18 and 25. The subject was made to lie down on a sofa, and the LED BP device was used to measure the subject's pulse rate and blood pressure. Then, through the headphones, slow rhythm music was played. Then, immediately after the music, the pulse rate and blood pressure were recorded.

Pulse rate and blood pressure were monitored again after a 5-minute rest time. The pulse rate and blood pressure were then monitored shortly after fast beat music was played. Listening to slow music resulted in a substantial decrease in pulse rate and blood pressure, whereas listening to rapid music resulted in a large increase in pulse rate and blood pressure. We concluded that listening to slow beat music improves cardiac autonomic control by lowering pulse rate and blood pressure.

Calm Music - Reduce Stress

Like other activities, listening to or producing music releases dopamine, a brain chemical that helps people feel focused and motivated. It's impossible to imagine an exercise class without music. Sound, as well as the rate of your heartbeat and respiration, are processed in the brainstem. This might explain why calming music appears to reduce pain, stress, and anxiety while reducing heart rate, breathing rate, and blood pressure at the same time.

According to one study, listening to terrible music lowers heart rate compared to listening to good music. We play the music that is both calming and silent in the cardiovascular unit. Blood pressure and pulse rate are reduced on a subconscious level. Music has been shown to benefit the health of individuals with heart disease. Music has been shown in tests to help relieve pain and anxiety because sadness is widespread among heart disease patients.

Physiology and Psychology

Human physiology is also affected by music in a group setting. The actions, breathing, and heart rates of people who are listening to the same music tend to be synchronised. Even after removing the impact of breathing, partial coherence between the heartbeats of people vocalising long notes together remained higher than the baseline or breathing together.

The cognitive and physical challenges of performing music have an impact on musicians' heart rhythms and breathing patterns. Psychologists showed that musicians' heart rhythms become more predictable when they perform new musical themes, as well as when they perform early in the morning rather than later in the evening.

Music Therapies

Music-based therapies can help enhance surgical results and lower cortisol levels in cardiac patients by modulating cerebral blood flow, reducing preoperative anxiety and postoperative stress, and lowering cortisol levels. In individuals with coronary heart disease, music therapies have been demonstrated to have a considerable impact on heart rate and blood pressure. In individuals who have had a heart attack, listening to soothing music lowers not just heart and respiratory rates, but also the oxygen demand of the heart.

Physiological factors such as heartbeats and heart rate variability may now be used to drive music treatments in cardiac therapy thanks to technological advancements in biofeedback devices. To improve heart rate variability, physiological feedback can be utilised to choose or modify music to impact listeners' heart rates and breathing. With the widespread use of biofeedback equipment, it is now possible to customise music treatments to individual cognitive or neural-cardiac states, allowing for a "musical prescription" for better mental and physical health.

Music Therapist (Therapy)

2021-11-18T21:34:00.004+05:30

Music therapy is a therapeutic technique that aims to enhance people's mental health and overall well-being by utilising music's inherently mood-lifting effects. A music therapist is a person who utilises music as a form of therapy to assist people with mental illnesses to feel better.

This type of treatment may be beneficial for persons suffering from depression and anxiety, as well as improving the quality of life for those suffering from physical ailments.

About

A music therapist is an allied health profession that employs music to help individuals with their physical, psychological, and social needs. Before delivering suitable therapy, the licenced music therapist examines each client's talents and needs. Goal-oriented interventions include composing music, writing songs, singing, dancing, listening to music, and discussing music. As a consequence of musical participation in the therapeutic setting, the client's skills are strengthened and transferred to other elements of his or her life.

Music therapy can also help those who have trouble expressing themselves vocally communicate more effectively. According to research in the field, music therapy is effective in facilitating movement and overall physical rehabilitation, motivating people to cope with treatment, providing emotional support for clients and their families, and providing an outlet for the expression of feelings.

Types of Music Therapy

Music therapy can be an active process in which clients participate in the creation of music or a passive approach in which clients just listen to or respond to music. Some therapists may employ a hybrid strategy that includes both active and passive musical encounters.

A number of techniques have been established:

Analytical music therapy enables you to communicate your unconscious ideas via spontaneous musical "conversation" such as singing or playing an instrument, which you may then reflect on and discuss with your therapist.
Benenzon music therapy blends certain psychoanalytic notions with the process of composing music. The quest for your "musical sound identity," which identifies the exterior sounds that most closely fit your interior psychological condition, is part of Benenzon music therapy.
CBMT (cognitive behavioural music therapy) is a treatment that combines cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with music. Music is utilised in CBMT to reinforce and change certain behaviours. Listening to music, dancing, singing, or playing an instrument are all examples of organised, not unstructured, approaches.
Community music therapy is a type of music therapy that focuses on utilising music to help people change in their communities. It's done in a group environment and necessitates a high level of participation from each participant.
Nordoff-Robbins music therapy, also known as creative music therapy, entails the therapist playing one instrument (usually a cymbal or drum) while the therapist plays another. Music is used in the improvisational process to aid in self-expression.
GIM (Guided Imagery and Music) as taught by Bonny: Classical music is used in this type of treatment to enhance the imagination. You describe the sentiments, sensations, memories, and visuals you have when listening to music using this approach.
Voice psychotherapy: In this approach, you connect with your emotions and impulses using a variety of vocal exercises, natural sounds, and breathing methods. This exercise is designed to help you feel more connected to yourself.

Issues Faces

People who are dealing with the issues like Alzheimer's disease, anxiety or stress, autism, cardiac conditions, chronic pain, depression, diabetes, difficulties with verbal and nonverbal communication, emotional dysregulation, feelings of low self-esteem, headaches, impulsivity, negative mood, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), problems related to childbirth, rehabilitation after an injury or medical procedure, respiration problems, substance use disorders, surgery-related issues, traumatic brain injury (TBI), trouble with movement or coordination may benefit from music therapy.

Research also suggests that it can be helpful for people with insomnia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), schizophrenia, stroke and neurological disorders. Music therapy is also often used to help children and adolescents: develop their identities, improve their communication skills, learn to regulate their emotions, recover from trauma, and self-reflect.

Benefits From Treatment

Music therapy may be extensively customised, making it appropriate for people of all ages, even very young toddlers. It's also adaptable, offering benefits for those with varying degrees of musical skill as well as mental and physical health issues. Memory, emotions, locomotion, sensory relay, some involuntary activities, decision-making, and reward are all influenced by brain areas that are activated.

Lower heart rate and blood pressure, relax muscle tension, release endorphins, relieve stress and encourage feelings of calm for children and young adults with developmental and/or learning disabilities, strengthen motor skills and improve communication. Research has also shown that music can have a powerful effect on people with dementia and other memory-related disorders. Overall, music therapy can help people experience more good emotions such as tranquilly, euphoria, confidence and empowerment, and emotional closeness.

Education in Music Therapy

Music therapy, psychology, music, biological, social, and behavioural sciences, disability, and general studies are all included in the undergraduate programme. The first year of study includes hands-on experience with music therapy methods and strategies. The student is qualified for admission to the Certification Board for Music Therapists, Inc. certification test after completing the AMTA-approved academic programme and internship. The student receives the accreditation Music Therapist-Board Certified after completing the CBMT's national test (MT-BC).

The list of Institutes in India offering courses related to Music Therapist are:

Association of Music Therapy, Delhi
Chennai School of Music Therapy, Chennai
MET Institute of Alternative Careers, Mumbai
Nada Centre for Music Therapy, New Delhi
The Indian Institute of Medical Music Therapy - IIMMT, Chennai
Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry.

Individuals with a bachelor degree in a field other than music therapy may choose to finish an AMTA-approved university's degree equivalence programme in music therapy. The student in this programme completes only the needed curriculum and does not need to get a second baccalaureate degree. A bachelor degree is required for admission to the master's degree programme in music therapy. Although there is no AMTA-approved PhD degree in music therapy, certain colleges do offer music therapy training in conjunction with doctoral studies in related fields.

A career in Music Therapy

A career in music therapy is hard, gratifying, and distinctive for those interested in working with individuals of all ages and with various impairments. Music therapists serve in a variety of settings, including general and psychiatric hospitals, community mental health organisations, rehabilitation centres, daycare facilities, nursing homes, schools, and private practice. Music therapists assist active-duty military personnel, veterans, transitioning service members, and their families. Music therapists strive to immerse clients in musical experiences that create trust and complete involvement throughout their therapy.

Music therapists use a number of music-centred tools, approaches, and activities while working with military-affiliated clients, many of which are similar to those used in other music therapy settings. Individuals who are afflicted by mental diseases. If you have a mental health problem, music therapy can help you communicate and express yourself, explore your thoughts and feelings, improve your mood and concentration, and create coping skills. People who have been in pain for a long time. Music therapy can help with pain, anxiety, tiredness, and despair. Music therapy may be therapeutic if you have a drug addiction problem. In research, it has been shown to increase motivation and self-esteem.

What is Musicology?

2021-11-06T09:09:00.004+05:30

The name "musicology" implies that music and education are inextricably linked. Musicology is the study of music via intellectual analysis and research. Although some music study is scientific in nature, musicology departments are historically associated with the humanities.

The social sciences have an academic interest in musicology since certain geographers and anthropologists are interested in it. A musicologist is a researcher who engages in musical study.

Disciplines

Musicology's discipline neighbors address other types of art, performance, ritual, and communication, such as the history and philosophy of the visual and plastic arts and architecture; languages, literature, and theatre; religion and theology; and sport. Applied musicology has parent domains in medicine, education, and music therapy.

Among the subjects covered are general history, cultural studies, philosophy (aesthetics and semiotics), ethnology and cultural anthropology, archaeology and archaeology, psychology and sociology, physiology and neuroscience, acoustics and psychoacoustics, computer/information sciences, and mathematics.

Parent Disciplines and Subdisciplines

Traditional divisions of musicology include historical musicology, systematic musicology, and ethnomusicology, as well as two important subdisciplines with no parent discipline: performance practise and research (as a sort of artistic research), and music theory, analysis, and composition.

Historical musicologists mostly research the history of the so-called Western classical tradition, although music history does not have to be confined to that.
To understand how and why individuals generate music, ethnomusicologists use anthropology (field research).
Music theory, aesthetics, education, musical acoustics, the science and technology of musical instruments, the musical implications of physiology, psychology, sociology, philosophy, and computers are all covered by systematic musicology.
The field of cognitive musicology is concerned with the cognitive modelling of music.
Computational musicology refers to the area of musicology in which musicologists do study utilising computers.
Music therapy is a specific kind of applied musicology that is sometimes associated with health disciplines and other times considered to be part of musicology itself.

Conservatory of Music

A music conservatory is also known as a conservatoire in the United Kingdom, a conservatorium in Australia, an academy, or a college in the United States. Some schools or conservatories are solely dedicated to the study of music. Others have a broader scope, such as music, theatre, and dance. Conservatories are for students who want to improve their performing, conducting, or writing skills to a professional level. For individuals contemplating a career in the creative arts, often combine a high percentage of practical training with academic study and professional growth. Most components' strength is individual teaching.

A Bachelor of Music degree takes 3–4 years to finish, a Master of Music degree takes 1–2 years, and a Doctor of Musical Arts or Doctor of Music degree takes 3–5 years. Musicology, music theory, music composition, music education, and music therapy are all disciplines where a PhD degree can be obtained. Some colleges, such as the A.D. or Artist Diploma in the United States, may award a non-academic degree based only on performance; this may be available at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Career in Music

Most musicologists work at colleges, universities, or conservatories as instructors, lecturers, or professors. Professorial posts on the tenure track are in high demand. Applicants for entry-level professor posts must have a completed PhD or an equivalent degree, while applicants for more senior professor positions must have a solid record of peer-reviewed journal publication. Some musicologists with a PhD can only find unstable jobs as sessional professors. A musicologist's responsibilities are similar to those of any other professor in the humanities.

Conducting research in their area of expertise, publishing articles about their research in peer-reviewed journals, authoring book chapters, books, or textbooks; travelling to conferences to give talks on their research and learn about research in their field; conducting research in their area of expertise, publishing articles about their research in peer-reviewed journals, authoring book chapters, books, or textbooks; Some musicology academics go on to become Dean or Chair of the Music Conservatory.

One of The Founders of Musicology

Guido Adler was a musicologist and writer who was born in Bohemia and lived in Austria. Adler studied piano (primary subject), music theory, and composition under Anton Bruckner and Otto Dessoff at the University of Vienna and the Vienna Conservatory of Music at the same time.

In 1874, he graduated from the conservatory with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. He earned a doctorate in law in 1878 and a doctorate in philosophy in 1880 from the University of Vienna, and at that time he composed an article on the History of Harmony, which was published in 1881. Adler became a musicology instructor at the University of Vienna in 1883.

In 1884, he founded the Musicology Quarterly and contributed the first article, "The Scope, Method, and Aim of Musicology," which not only represents the first attempt at a comprehensive description of the study of music but also famously divides the discipline into two sub-disciplines: historical musicology and systematic musicology.

Although these subfields do not precisely correlate to current practice in modern European musicology, they fundamentally correspond to the North American division of musicology in music history, music theory, and ethnomusicology.

Guido Adler was the first music historian to place a strong emphasis on style critique in his studies. In 1924, he became the editor of the "Handbook of Music History," which reflects his ideas and techniques.

A Dictionary of Music and Musicians

2021-10-23T19:39:00.000+05:30

The New Grove is often used by English-speaking musicologists who are conducting studies or seeking information on a wide range of musical topics. It is highly useful to any scholar with a decent understanding of the English language because of its range and depth of coverage, as well as extensive bibliographies.

A Dictionary of Music and Musicians and Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians were the titles of earlier versions. Grove Music Online, which is now a major part of Oxford Music Online, has just made it available as an electronic resource.

The New Grove

The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians is a comprehensive reference work on the subject of music and musicians. It is one of the most thorough reference sources on music history and theory. The work has gone through numerous editions since the 19th century and is actively used. It contains 29,499 articles in total, 5,623 entirely new articles, 20,374 biographies of composers, performers and writers on music, 1,327 articles on world music, 1,221 articles on popular music, light music, and jazz and much more.

First Edition

The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians was first published in 1980 and later enlarged to 20 volumes with 22,500 entries and 16,500 biographies. The New Grove was also published in compact sets and as standalone volumes on certain themes. Individual and group composer biographies, a four-volume dictionary of American music (1984), a three-volume dictionary of musical instruments (1984), a four-volume dictionary of opera (1992), and a volume on female composers were among the items that were commonly improved with increasingly broad and revised content (1994).

Second Edition

In 2001, the second edition of this work (the seventh overall) was released in 29 volumes. Grove Music Online, a subscription-based service, also made it available on the internet. Stanley Sadie edited it once again, and John Tyrrell served as executive editor. It was also supposed to be released on CD-ROM, but that idea was scrapped. "The covering of 20th-century composers has been the largest single extension in the present edition," Sadie says in the foreword. Grove Music Online, a Web-based version of The New Grove, was released to coincide with the publication of the second edition.

Grove Music Online

Grove Music Online users get access to the whole text of The New Grove. It has been updated with several modifications and new articles. It includes the four-volume New Grove Dictionary of Opera (ed. Stanley Sadie, 1992) and the three-volume New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, second edition (ed. Barry Kernfeld, 2002), The Grove Dictionary of American Music, and The Grove Dictionary of Musical Instruments, totalling more than 50,000 articles. Deane Root, a University of Pittsburgh professor, is the current editor-in-chief of Grove Music, the term given to the whole array of print and online materials that make up the Grove brand. In 2009, he took over as editor.

Oxford Music Online

The dictionary was sold to Oxford University Press in 2004 after it was initially produced by Macmillan. Grove Music Online has been a cornerstone of Oxford University Press's broader online study tool Oxford Music Online since 2008, and it is still a subscription-based service. It is accessible for use at many public and university libraries throughout the world through institutional subscriptions, in addition to private and educational users. Grove Music Online claims to be the seventh version of the whole piece.

Is The Piano A String Or A Percussion Instrument?

2021-10-15T23:33:00.006+05:30

In our present music classification system, instruments are split into three categories: wind, strings, and percussion. A variety of keyboard instruments are commonly used for a variety of reasons. The piano has strings, but they are struck by hammers. A digital piano uses electronics to mimic harpsichord plucking.

So, is the piano a percussion or a string instrument? In many cases, it's difficult to tell if an instrument is a stringed or percussion instrument.

String Instrument

String instruments, often known as stringed instruments or chordophones, are musical instruments that generate sound by vibrating strings. A single string or a group of strings can produce music. Plucking or stroking the strings with the hand can also be used to play the strings. String instruments include violins, guitars, harps, cellos, and the piano.

Why Piano is a String Instrument?

A stringed instrument is described as a musical instrument with vibrating strings that produce sound, and a piano's tone is created by the vibration of the strings. The strings are plucked, strummed, hammered, or bowed at the appropriate tension, causing them to vibrate. To tune a piano, the strings behind it must be adjusted as well. The piano, on the other hand, cannot be used as percussion since its sound is produced by strings.

Percussion Instrument

Percussion instruments make music when they are hit, shaken, or scraped. Percussion serves to maintain a piece's rhythm while also contributing color and flavor. Percussion instruments include drum sets, tambourines, rainmakers, maracas, and the piano.

Why Piano is a Percussion Instrument?

Similar to a lyre or harp, the piano contains strings strung between two points. A piano's sound is created by hammers striking the strings. This is a percussion instrument, which is defined as a musical instrument that is played by striking it with the hand or a portable or pedal-operated stick. The piano's fixed strings produce music, but it can't make a sound unless the keys are pushed, which activates a felt-covered hammer within.

So, Piano is...?

Either might be the case. In the Hornbostel-Sachs system of musical instrument categorization, the piano is categorized as a percussive chordophone. The piano's main interface is the keyboard, which may be used to play a number of instruments. The organ, which is primarily a wind instrument, and the harpsichord, which is a plucked-string instrument, are both included on the keyboard. As a result, the piano is today considered both a stringed and percussive instrument.

Who Invented the Piano?

2021-10-07T08:07:00.003+05:30

The contemporary piano version's development is far more sophisticated than the original. Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco, an Italian musical instrument builder, is credited with creating the piano.

If you want to study piano, keyboard, or guitar, you will be led with the necessary information. Let's look at the biography of Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco who invented the piano.

Early Life

Cristofori was born in Padua, Republic of Venice, on May 4, 1655. According to legend, he was an apprentice to the famous violin maker Nicol Amati, although census data are unclear regarding his early years. He was hired by Prince Ferdinando de Medici in 1688 when he was 33 years old. Ferdinando was the son and successor of Cosimo III, Grand Duke of Tuscany, a tiny sovereign state. He was a music enthusiast and supporter.

Ferdinando's decision to hire Cristofori is unknown. In 1688, the Prince went to Venice for the Carnival. Ferdinando needed a new technician to look after his various musical instruments, as the previous one had recently died. Finally, the Prince approached him about becoming an inventor. He was clearly captivated by machinery, so the intricate mechanical movement that was at the heart of Cristofori's piano work would pique his curiosity.

Working on Inventions

In any case, Cristofori accepted the position for a monthly salary of 12 scudi. The Grand Dukes of Tuscany had a huge workforce of around 100 artists working in the Uffizi's Galleria dei Lavori at the time. Cristofori's first workspace was most likely in this region, which he despised. Cristofori ultimately established his own workshop and generally employed one or two helpers.

He arrived in Florence swiftly, was given a home by the Grand Duke's administration, replete with utensils and equipment, and went to work. He tuned, maintained, and transported instruments for the Prince, as well as working on his numerous inventions and restoring rare antique harpsichords.

Cristofori's list of Inventions Before Piano

Before beginning work on the piano, Cristofori created two keyboard devices in the last years of the 17th century. These instruments are listed in an inventory of Prince Ferdinando's numerous instruments, dated 1700. This inventory, according to Stewart Pollen, was made by a court musician named Giovanni Fuga.

The spinettone, Italian for "great spinet," was a huge, multi-choired spinet or harpsichord with a slanted string disposition of 1 x 8', 1 x 4'; most spinets had a basic disposition of 1 x 8'. This innovation might have been designed to fit into a packed orchestra pit for theatrical performances while yet producing a louder sound than a multi-choired instrument.

The other innovation was the exceedingly rare oval spinet (1690), a type of virginal with the longest strings in the centre of the case. Cristofori also made well-known instruments, which are listed in the same 1700 inventory: a clavicytherium, or upright harpsichord, and two harpsichords in the typical Italian 2 x 8' format, one of which has an unusual ebony case.

Harp-Harpsichord

An "Archicembalo" by Bartolomeo Cristofori, a novel design that creates gentle and powerful sounds, with two sets of unison-pitched strings and a cypress soundboard without the rose. The name "Archicembalo," which literally means "harp-harpsichord," was not widely known in Cristofori's day. According to Edward Good, this is the name Cristofori sought for his instrument.

The instrument is described in great detail in the Medici inventory. This (now-lost) harpsichord had a four-octave range, from C to c′′′′′, which is a normal (though slightly narrow) compass for harpsichords. These are the many methods to play the Arpi cimbalo del piano e forte, which was developed by Master Bartolomeo Christofani of Padua, harpsichord builder to the Most Serene Grand Prince Ferdinand of Tuscany, in the year 1700.

The Three Pianos

Cristofori had made three pianos by 1711, according to Scipione Maffei's journal entry. One was presented to Cardinal Ottoboni in Rome, while two were sold in Florence by the Medici. Cristofori's total number of pianos manufactured is unknown. Only three have survived to this day, all of which date from the 1720s.

The Metropolitan Museum in New York houses a 1720 instrument. The soundboard was rebuilt in 1938, and the 54-note range was moved by roughly half an octave, from F', G', and A'–c"' to C–f". Although this piano may be played, its original condition has been irreversibly lost, according to builder Denzil Wraight, and it cannot reveal what it once was.

The Museo Nazionale dei Strumenti Musicali in Rome houses a 1722 instrument. It has a four-octave range (C-c3) and a "una corda" stop; this piano has been worm-damaged and is not playable.

The Musikinstrumenten-Museum at Leipzig University houses a 1726 instrument. Four octaves (from C to c3) with a "Corda" stop. This instrument is not currently playable, however, recordings have been produced in the past.

The three instruments that have survived all have the same Latin inscription in Roman numbers. "Inventor Bartolomeo Cristofori of Padua produced this in Florence on this date," it says. Cristofori's action satisfied almost all of the specifications for a piano action, which are complicated mechanical devices with highly precise design constraints.

National Piano Month - September

2021-09-21T21:28:00.001+05:30

National Piano Month is celebrated every September. Pianists, piano designers, and those who like piano music are acknowledged throughout the month. Because of its wide range of notes and tones, the piano is renowned as the "king of musical instruments."

You will find wonderful keyboard performances by students learning online music. Find out more about how to join an online music lesson during the piano month. In celebration of Piano Month, pass the word about these intriguing facts about the instrument.

From the Beginning to the Present

Bartolomeo Cristofori is credited with developing the first piano in Italy around 1700. During this time period, Cristofori's fascination with stringed instruments led to the invention of the piano. It began as a "pianoforte," with a softer tone and a narrower range than modern pianos. Early piano designs by Cristofori reflected technological developments in keyboard instruments of the period.

The majority of modern pianos have 88 keys, comprising a row of 52 white and 36 black keys, as well as three-foot pedals. They include the grand piano, baby grand piano, upright piano, electric and specialised variations that have recently become available.

Types of Pianos

The Spinet, Console, Studio, and Grand are the four primary varieties of pianos. The smallest piano is the Spinet, while the largest is the Grand. Despite the fact that all upright pianos have the same sound, piano experts believe that each piano type has its own distinct and distinctive tone.

Spinet Piano

The Spinet piano is the tiniest of all the instruments known as dropped action pianos. It features a huge number of moving components. The hammer-like striking action used to strike the keys is referred to as dropped action.

Console Piano

The Console piano is similar in size to its relative, the Spinet Piano. Furthermore, pianists play the Spinet piano with the same technique as they do the Console piano.

Studio Piano

The Studio pianos are taller than Spinet and Console pianos, and vice versa. In addition, the Studio piano has a deeper tone than the other two. The Studio piano, on the other hand, has a distinct feel from a Spinet or Console piano.

Grand Piano

The Grand pianos are the tallest and biggest of all pianos. Grand pianos, like Studio pianos, are full of rich tones that are meticulously carried inside the keys to provide a lovely sound.

Furthermore, among all four pianos, grand pianos are regarded to be the most beautiful and lasting. Grand pianos, in particular, will survive decades if properly cared for, making them a timeless treasure.

Other pianos on the market now are more specialised and belong to their own category. Furthermore, these pianos are frequently used by pianists in modern music. The synthetic piano-like tones employ oscillators and digital recordings of acoustic piano sounds, and electric pianos are electro-mechanical designs.

Facts About Piano

The majority of pianists play on a single piano. In 2019, a world record for the most piano players on one keyboard was achieved in Birmingham, United Kingdom. 88 young players used extenders, one for each key, so that they could each reach their key without crowding on top of one another.

The Galactic Piano is a piano found in the galaxy. One of the most expensive pianos in the world is covered in 24K gold and was built in the United Arab Emirates. The automatic lid and curved keys add to the $1.36 million price tag.

The Biggest Piano in the World This 5.7 metre long, 4 tonne piano took a New Zealand piano tuner four years to build–and he was just 25 years old when he finished it! The piano was initially referred to as the gravicembalo col piano e forte, which translates to "soft and loud keyboard instrument."

Discover How To Play The Piano

The nice thing about learning to play the piano in this day and age is that you don't even need a full-sized piano to get started! Because they fold up and fit into compact spaces, digital pianos are an excellent way to learn. Furthermore, several computers and tablets contain programmes for learning how to play the piano.

Having access to the actual article is, of course, better. Those who can afford to employ a piano teacher or enrol in lessons at a local music school or online music class should do so. However, whether or not a keyboard is accessible, the most important thing is to begin learning and making music.

Popular Piano Manufacturers In The World

Steinway & Sons is a New York-based musical instrument manufacturer. Heinrich Steinweg founded the Steinway firm in Germany when he was 20 years old and began making pianos. It is now one of the world's most well-known piano makers. He moved to New York a few decades later and established his business there in 1853. Each Steinway piano contains around 12,000 parts and takes a trained artisan over a year to construct.

Bösendorfer, a luxury piano maker based in Vienna, Austria, is well-known for creating a keyboard with 97 keys and eight entire octaves for musicians. However, finding one is difficult since just a few hundred pianos are made each year, and each one is handcrafted by dedicated artisans.

A Fazioli, which is produced in Italy, will cost you anything between $100,000 and $300,000. They only produce grand and concert grand pianos, one of which is adorned with 24-karat gold leaf. The company's founder, Paolo Fazioli, set out to create the best piano money could buy. And he appeared to have achieved his goal!

Shigeru Kawai is a well-known Japanese actor. Every year, this company manufactures less than 250 pianos, all of which are constructed from rare spruce trees discovered in Japan's highlands of Hokkaido. Since its inception in 1927, the Kawai brand has stood for excellence by fusing technical breakthroughs with traditional craftsmanship.

How To Sit At The Piano?

2021-09-14T19:46:00.003+05:30

Piano teachers teach you how to sit at the piano properly. Because it is far more difficult to modify strange behaviours later on. From natural hand movement to flawless pedalling, how you sit at the piano affects every element of your performance.

Have a friend or family member verify the angle of your arm if necessary, or have a mirror near you so you can check your posture frequently. As you progress, you'll establish the habit of sitting comfortably at the piano and won't need to check as frequently. However, during the first week or two, it's best to remain cautious until it becomes natural.

Seat Adjustment

It's key to select the appropriate piano seat. If you want to play the piano properly while avoiding back and neck problems, you should avoid an armchair or a wheeled office chair with armrests chairs. Make sure your seat is at the proper height. Double-check that the chair or seat you're in is the right height for you. On the side of certain piano benches are knobs that may be used to raise or lower the seat.

Sit As Far Apart As Possible

You should sit further back at the piano in front of Middle C, with adequate space between your body and the keyboard's border. Free movement of the arms and hands is permitted. As a general rule, keep your knees directly beneath the keyboard. If both knees are totally exposed, you're sitting too far back. If half your thighs are below the piano, you're probably too close.

Rest Your Fingers

Extend your arms in front of you and place your hands on the keyboard. Some tutors may advise curling your fingers, but this is not a soothing technique of playing and will instead tense you up. Simply place your fingers on the keyboard. The upper arms should be the source of any "effort" you feel in your arms. It shouldn't feel like your forearms are supporting you or that your wrists or fingers are putting in all the work. It should feel as if your upper arms are keeping your arms in place. However, do not tense up into your ears and maintain your shoulders relaxed.

Relax Your Wrists and Elbow

Wrists should be loose, and elbows should be parallel to wrists. You take your elbow with you and bend your body side to side as you go down the keyboard. We have more mobility in our hips to move side to side and carry our elbows and bodies to the ends of the piano when we sit forward on the seat, putting less stress on our wrists and hands to reach out.

Place The Legs

Place your right foot on the sustain (right) pedal, maintaining it in the elevated position, if you know you'll be utilising it. The whole time, your heel should be in touch with the floor, and the pedal should be activated by the ball of your foot. Now, with your left-hand little finger, play the bottom note of your piano and with your right-hand little finger, play the top note of your piano. It entails leaning in close to the piano, but it's not difficult.

Position Yourself

Place your seat as far away from the piano as your fingertips are from the keys, with your elbows in front of you. Some believe that the piano is lowered to knee height, but that it is favoured at the thigh's commencement. Your feet are not only under the knees but also somewhat forward them to reach the pedals and create a wider than 90-degree inclination between your legs. Make sure your forearm and upper arm are at a 90-degree angle, and that your hand is slightly elevated and curling down toward the keyboard. In addition, instead of hunching over, maintain your back straight.

Necessity For A Piano

Another consideration when sitting at the keyboard is the placement of your music. The advantage of upright pianos is that the music is directly in front of your eyes. The music stands on grand pianos are often taller and farther away from you, necessitating you to sit a bit higher on your bench. Check out this comparison of acoustic and digital pianos if you're thinking about buying a new piano and need some guidance. Also, check to see if your music stand has enough illumination. Several great clip-on reading lights that may be simply added to the music stand are available. Some of them can run on both batteries and USB power.

How To Find A Right Piano Teacher?

2021-09-08T11:21:00.001+05:30

With great teachers, learning musical instruments is a pleasant experience. Piano lessons may be taught in a number of different methods. To learn music and have a good time has quite different requirements than an undergraduate music student.

Lessons in music are a highly personal experience. Finding the right teacher for you is an important first step. Here are some suggestions to assist you in finding the ideal piano teacher for you or your child.

Piano Tutors On The Internet

Defining your expectations is the first step towards choosing the appropriate piano teacher. On a more technical level, online courses provide several benefits for taking piano lessons anytime and wherever you choose. You have complete freedom to go at your own pace. Online piano lessons, on the other hand, have a lot to offer whether you're just starting out or saving up for formal lessons but want to get started right away.

Fortunately, thanks to the Internet, there is now a far more affordable option: Online Music Classroom!

Online piano lessons, such as those offered by Online Music Classroom, are less expensive than in-person classes and are competitively priced. You can take piano lessons at your own pace for just Rs. 63 per day, with no commuting or scheduling requirements.

Misconception Among Parents

It's a widespread misconception among parents that there's nothing wrong with starting with a poor instructor and then progressing to a better teacher if their child shows interest. Students establish a foundation for their future musical studies throughout their first year of piano lessons. It may take years for the student to rectify its piano-playing style when a pupil changes from a substandard instructor to a superior one.

Learn From A Competent Instructor

Learning to play the piano may provide you or your children a lifetime of pleasure, difficulties, and rewards. And, especially when you're first getting started, having a competent instructor to guide and encourage you is frequently the key to success. A competent piano instructor can assist you in learning appropriate techniques, keeping you motivated, and inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and grow as a musician.

Online Music Classroom allows you to submit your rehearsals and performances for review by professional teachers who can provide you with the necessary feedback and support.

Apart From Self Guidance

You may access amusing programmes, discussion forums, song libraries, and other resources depending on the platform you pick. Of course, having a human tutor next to you offers its own set of benefits. Humans have the ability to detect mistakes and bad behaviours such as hand movements, improper posture, playing style as soon as they are observed. We all learn in different ways, and a good teacher would recognise this and modify their teaching style appropriately.

In-Person & Virtual Piano Combo

Combining virtual education with in-person coaching is one approach to get the best of both worlds. If you have the financial resources, you can meet with an instructor once a week or once a month to obtain individualised mentorship from someone who can demonstrate key ideas. Then, with the help of internet tools, you may practise those key ideas at home. This provides you with the best of both worlds while also adding interest and purpose to your practise sessions.

The Online Music Classroom was designed to provide a “best of both worlds” learning experience.

How Do You Soundproof A Musician's Room?

2021-08-23T16:25:00.000+05:30

Composing sound-related music is the sole responsibility of musicians. When you consider the other side of their job, listening to music all day and night might be disruptive to others. Listening to a piece of music is also important to artists.

So soundproofing is used to prevent exterior noises from entering the room while still preventing interior noises from exiting. It renders a room impervious to sound waves, allowing for substantial noise reduction.

Sound & Its Techniques

Sound is a wave bouncing off the floor and walls that produce a reverberant or vibrating sound that must be absorbed. This can be done by sound-absorbing and trapping materials into the space using techniques. Damping is a technique for removing vibrational energy before it accumulates and causes sound waves to be generated. Sound transmission between two buildings in direct touch must be stopped by decoupling. Sound waves cannot easily flow through gaps that enable air to circulate through a structure unless the vacant area is filled.

Reasons

Making high-quality recordings is critical in a studio for a number of reasons. A musician at home, on the other hand, needs a recording area in order to work in peace. Soundproofing helps attenuate the sounds generated by household appliances and prevents indoor and outside disturbances from spoiling a recording. Most significantly, it minimises echoes and provides professional-quality sound in a tight environment.

Acoustic Foam

The technique of soundproofing involves preventing sound from entering and exiting a room. Controlling reverberations and echoes in order to improve sound quality within a place is referred to as acoustic treatment. Acoustic panels can be used to decrease reverberations and deflect echoes during the acoustic treatment process, resulting in an ideal sound recording environment.

Recording Space

Select a recording location that is free of windows. If your recording room has a window, use high-density acoustic foam to seal it firmly. To create a quiet working atmosphere, use insulation. The ideal method to outfit your space is with acoustic foam tiles, sound absorption panels, and bass traps for acoustic energy absorbers meant to dampen low-frequency sound energy.

Modify Your Door

A heavier door is preferable; if yours is hollow, spray insulation can be used to fill it. Install a door sweep on each side of the door to close the air gap between the door and the floor. Echo and boom can be reduced by using thick blankets or heavy drapes on walls and in corners.

Create Sound Barrier

On the interior, using a new layer of plasterboard to create a sound barrier. Install sheets of mass-loaded vinyl or sheet block, a thick material designed to limit sound transmission, leaving an air gap between the two walls. Sound waves can't enter or depart via your walls because of the sheet block and the second wall.

How To Schedule A Practice Plan?

2021-08-17T13:28:00.004+05:30

If you're actively involved in your daily assignments, you'll be more likely to develop habits that will help you improve your music learning. Consistent practices can improve your musical understanding and speed. Make a plan to set aside some time for practising your musical instruments.

So, let's take a look at how to build up an assignment timetable for an online music session's daily routine.

Motivate Yourself To Plan

To begin, find a location that is conducive to schoolwork. So that distraction are kept to a bare minimum. Recognize your daily schedule and set aside sometime each day to practise your music lessons. Following the time you set aside, for instance, 1 hour of practising in the early morning soon after you get up, stick to it and don't be hesitant to begin. You can only offer self-motivation if you want to complete any activity.

Plan Your Schedule On Your Own

You should arrange your studying time the day before, just as you would your other daily routines such as working out, showering, and eating. Give yourself a 50% probability of completing your assignments if this is your first time planning. Don't make things difficult for the first time. Make the most of the time you have. If you are capable of performing it for one day, move on to the second day. Repeat the technique for two days in a row after that. If you succeed, increase the duration to five days, then one week.

Schedule A Regular Practice Time

Even if you wish to practise for several hours each day, time management is more crucial. Prioritize your tasks to better manage your time. Lack of time management will finally bring the entire music study routine to a halt. Make no excuses for yourself, and don't put off any of your practice sessions. Proceed after adjusting the time as soon as feasible. You may improve your memory by practising in the dawn and dusk.

Get Help With Experts Anytime

Even if you practice well, you must ask your teacher numerous questions and express your worries. Raising doubts and asking questions can help you learn more, enhance your thinking skills, and eliminate your doubts. Discuss your concerns regarding your everyday practice with your tutor. Because you demonstrate a greater interest in studying music by asking questions, the instructor will be more inclined to teach you more.

Follow A Persistent Practice

Make it a habit to complete your assignments on a daily basis. In addition to your studies, you should practise your musical instruments. Recalling the keys on an electronic keyboard/piano or the strings on a guitar will be easier if you keep in touch with the instruments. Perform it in front of your parents or friends to get feedback from all of them. This may assist you in better understanding yourself and your current level.

Tokyo Olympic 2020 Theme Songs

2021-08-07T19:24:00.003+05:30

The Olympic Games are a dream come true, a place where sportsmanship may unveil the power of sports. Participants from all around the world gather to show their commitment to their sport, which they have been working on for the previous four years.

Encouraging them with a lovely Olympic song would eventually give every person of their nation chills as they watch the games in real-time.

J-Pop Song: ‘Colorful’

Team Coca-Cola created the Japanese pop song for the Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020. The tune, which is accompanied by a music video, was published by Universal Music Japan and features 14 athletes from all over the world. The track's general producer, Ryosuke Imai, remarked, "This is a song for everyone, regardless of race, gender, generation, or national borders."

"It was created with the goal of creating heart-to-heart connections via sports and vibrant music for the historic Tokyo Olympics." Ryosuke Imai, the award-winning writer and producer of Namie Amuro's "Hero" and Little Glee Monster's "Echo," among many others, was the chief producer for the "Colorful" project, and he collaborated with some Tiny Voice Production colleagues, including UTA, Sunny Boy, and Jun, to write the upbeat song.

Official Olympic Theme Song: "Lakshya Tera Samne Hai"

On June 23, India's "Official Olympic Theme Song" was published, just in time for the Summer Games in July and August. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju was the chief guest, while the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President, Secretary-General, Deputy Chef De Mission, Sports Secretary, and DG Sports Authority of India were also in attendance (SAI).

Mohit Chauhan wrote and performed the song "Lakshya Tera Samne Hai." The Games will begin on July 23rd, with 127 Indian athletes competing. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju released India's "official Olympic theme song" on Wednesday, June 23. In the Tokyo Olympics 2020, India won four bronze medals two Silver medals and one gold medal at the moment.

The 'Cheer4India' Song: Hindustani Way

The official song of the Indian delegation for the Tokyo Olympics was presented by Grammy Award winner A.R. Rahman and young vocalist Ananya Birla. Anurag Thakur, the country's sports minister, introduced the 'Cheer4India' song of the country's Olympic contingent on Wednesday, urging the people to support its athletes fully during the Tokyo Games.

"I encourage all my countrymen to listen to the song, share it with their friends, and shout for the whole Indian Olympic team in Tokyo to express our support," Thakur added. In the midst of the COVID-19 epidemic, he praised Rahman and Ananya for writing the song. The introduction of Team India's official cheer song, according to Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra, was the result of hard work by all stakeholders.

The song was written and composed by AR Rahman, who also provided the music, and it is performed by Ananya Birla. 'HINDUSTANI WAY' is the title of the new song. For India's fans, this song is dynamic and thrilling. This year, Team India has 127 competitors and won seven medals in the Olympics, and it will be a sight to witness so many athletes representing India for the first time at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

What Are The Reasons To Be A Multi-Instrumentalist?

2021-07-30T14:32:00.000+05:30

Doubling is a phrase used to describe multi-instrumentalists who is capable of playing two or more musical instruments at a high level. It is frequent in orchestras like double bassists who may also play electric bass.

Despite the fact that learning several instruments is tough, there are a few reasons why artists want to master multiple instruments and how they feel once they have them.

Improves Brain Activity

Pianists are perhaps more ambidextrous than the average individual. Most of us do not tune our own pianos, the piano is unique. If we don't make an effort to teach our ears, this might lead to them being sluggish.

Drummers appear to be problem-solvers with such a sharp mind. Several instruments seem to have different effects on the brain. Guitar also taught about the wonders of chord charts, which provide direction while inspiring innovation. The minds of guitarists are the most creative.

Common Among Bluegrass Performers

Multi-Instrumentalists are performers who double on two or more instruments for a concert or recording. Several musicians' unions or organisations prescribe a higher rate of compensation. This says that an orchestra's reed players may play numerous instruments in music theatre.

Similarly, Church pianists play the pipe organ or Hammond organ as well. Multi-Instrumentalists are more usual in popular music than in classical or jazz for artists to play instruments from other families, such as the guitar and keyboards.

Passion To Perform Many Instruments

The piano is a flexible instrument that can accommodate a wide range of musical styles. You may play jazz, classical, or pop music on the piano. But musicians performing in groups are flexible and effective players exploited by allowing a single instrument to be played.

Multi-instrumentalists play very briefly or sporadically during a performance like flautists who also play the piccolo and jazz-like saxophone and flute players. However, while certain well-known guitar riffs sound great on the piano, nothing beats performing an epic guitar part on the guitar.

Comprehend Artists’ Skills

Learning a second instrument could also let you appreciate different genres more. Understanding how to play the tuba or belt high notes may make music more fascinating and delightful to listen to. This can also make conversing with other artists more comfortable. You could fall in love with a new genre as a result of playing different instruments.

You'll probably have to reduce your piano playtime if you study a new instrument. You may have to forgo some leisure if you don't have time to play the piano. After all, learning to play an instrument is a tough challenge. Glance at your routine before you dedicate it to a second instrument. Ask yourself that you're willing to make compromises.

How Do They Feel?

Musicians who learnt multiple instruments said, “I'm persuaded that my music lessons benefited me in knowing how to play the guitar. When I began to learn chords, though, my brain had to work pretty hard. Guitars and pianos are massively different instruments, and you might be shocked at how hard it is to learn a new one. Strong communications might be difficult, but finally, it can also be gratifying.”

The guitarist says, “During high school, I fell captivated with classic rock, as did many other youngsters. I wanted to act like my rock heroes, so I took up the guitar. It's only after you've tried it that you'll believe it.”

How to attend an online class?

2021-07-09T23:11:00.005+05:30

People want to go to school and work in the places where their schools, universities, or offices are located. However, throughout the pandemic, many switched from offline to online learning. For the present situation, the learning method has already been updated.

Students and staff members who work in the offices enforce discipline during offline classes. At least a few people are punctual and respectful of their superiors. However, students and faculty do not take online classes as seriously as they do offline classes.

What is the best way to attend an online music class? How do you keep your discipline? How can you be as serious as if you were in an offline class? Let's try to undo this.

Schedule Your Class Appropriately

A student who has set aside time to learn music must be on time for class. Students must pay the fee and book the class within the allocated time. They should not wait until the last minute to do so. Reschedule should only be used in an emergency. When making a reservation, keep in mind whether you are reserving for an AM or PM session and compare the date to the regular time in your country.

Confirmation of Class

A student must be ready 10 minutes before the start of class in front of a laptop/smartphone/system. When you receive a communication from the institute or school management after making a reservation, make sure to confirm the class as soon as you see your message or 10 minutes before the session begins. To be on time for class, a student must be more punctual.

Sitting Posture & Dressing Sense

The most important factor is how you dress. If a student is heading to a class to study, he or she should freshen up and dress appropriately and comfortably. Every working day, a pupil dresses appropriately for school. However, a significant shift of demeanour is required to sit in front of the teacher. It makes no difference what age group a pupil belongs to. Additionally, sit properly in your chair to listen to the music class and learn to perform music. It is far more vital to ensure discipline than it is to learn music.

Focusing The Camera

Before arriving at class, make sure the camera is in a solid position. Make sure the camera's emphasis is on the musical instrument as well as your hands. So that the teacher can see how you're holding your hands while you're playing. Don't keep adjusting the camera when listening to an online music class. The camera should only focus on the learner and, if necessary, the musical instrument, as well as the parents.

Connectivity in the Network

The issue of network connectivity is one that affects people all over the world. However, before entering class, a student must locate a particular spot in the workspace. If a student experiences a poor network connection while in class, the student is squandering class time, student time, teacher time, and most importantly, money. Because time is short, make the most out of it.

Types of Headphones

2021-07-02T03:23:00.003+05:30

Living in a home or hostel, people surround you always. Surrounding noise of disturbance expects you to have some privacy. What could be the most probable one to make you feel privacy? Headphones, obviously! Headphones are the one which helps you to bring your privacy to you.

Even in headphones, you may be comfortable with particular headphones that suit you. Which type of headphones is best for you? What type of headphone should you buy? Searching for the more suitable headphones on an online shopping site may be more difficult when you decide to buy one. Here are some varieties that show how to choose the one that suits you.

Open-Back Headphones

Open-Back headphones have open ear cups that allow some sound to escape into the environment. This style is for the mixing and mastering in studio settings. Because of the open construction, that leakage created by audio engineers allows the mix to remain accurate and avoid build-up of certain frequencies.

An individual who’s concerned with mixing and mastering needs accuracy and a flat sound with no enhancement, it gives them more confidence to trust what they’re hearing. There is also less pressure created when wearing this style of headphones, which can make them more comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Closed-Back Headphones

Closed-Back headphones are to block out any outside noise when using the headphones, regardless of your intended application. This style free of the noise surrounding you to keep the music free of any outside interference, regardless of environment, and creates an isolated audio experience so that only you can hear the sounds you want to hear.

Because of the ability to block out all external noises and sharpen in on the notes in the instrument or vocalist, it is useful in the studio recording for the musicians. Only a little sound escapes into the surrounding environment. Even aside from musicians, closed-back headphones are perfect for those who prefer a private listening experience or not to get disturbed by others.

Over-The-Ear Headphones

Over-ear headphones are a little larger, so the cups can engulf your ears with some padding that surrounds them. Fit on the top of the head and over to focus on sound isolation. This style of headphones is the superior model for noise reduction because they create an intimate environment between you and the sound you’re listening to. They can very limit noise leakage, which keeps the sound you are listening to in and also allows the sound in the surrounding environment out.

There are over-ear headphones models that are open-backed, which lets them breathe and allow sound in and out. However, this style is usually closed-back for its potential noise cancellation, isolation, and high-quality sound capability. They are usually heavier than other models as well and may cause fatigue in your head and ears when wearing them for long periods of time, especially in the studio or with gaming, etc.

In-Ear Headphones

The most portable and popular style of headphone types are in-ear headphones and also called canal phones. This is one of the fastest-growing styles in the headphone industry for the ease of use if you aren’t a home, semi-pro or professional studio artist or engineer. A slight concern of users is that this style could be dangerous for your ears because they are directly in your ear canal, but with the protection. Lesser the volume, safer your ear will be.

The benefits of using this are comfort, good for travel, sound isolation, and sound accuracy. This style has very little sound leakage, keeping the sound in your ear and keeping external noises out. In-ear headphones have a silicone ear tip for protection and more comfort. This ear tip fills the ear canal and allows the sound from the headphones to enter directly into your ear while keeping most of the sounds from the surrounding environment out.

On-Ear Headphones

On-ear headphones are a little smaller and rest on top of the ear. Also known as Supra-aural headphones, the on-ear design is slightly like open-back headphones, which allows some sound from the surrounding environment to exit. This style of headphones is usually quite comfortable and doesn’t cause you to sweat. They rest on your ears comfortably and pair that doesn’t pressure your ears too much.

They are also lighter than over-the-ear headphones, which are much better at blocking out external sounds used for sound isolation, which creates less pressure on the top band that rests on your head. On-ear models can vary in terms of quality, but the higher quality models give you good sound quality and comfort. Each model offers its own unique attributes, but overall this category is probably the most dynamic.

Earbuds

The most common and recognizable model of earbuds is the white earbuds that Apple provides, which are merely larger circles that press against more of your ear. This style of headphone does not enter the ear canal and instead rests on the outer ear allows for more sound from the external environment to enter as well. They allow for more leakage than the in-ear style, giving some benefits as flat, safer and comfortable.

Earbuds are easily portable and very compact, similar to in-ear headphones, but they struggle to create true sound isolation because of the size of the little speaker. Depending on the model you can find, some higher quality models can provide advanced technology to help with even more quality and accuracy, but the key benefit for earbuds is their size.

Bluetooth Headphones

This technology has developed rapidly, especially in the music industry. The sound quality of Bluetooth headphones is like that of corded headphone models. Headphones with Bluetooth technology have a small computer chip inside of them that allow you to pair with the device you are playing music from.

Right now, these headphone models are more expensive than the corded models, as this technology is still relatively new. If you connect to headphones via Bluetooth, you can listen to the same sound as you would with normal headphone styles yet avoid the hassle of cords. The one downside of Bluetooth headphones however is that they require charging.

Noise Cancelling Headphones

With some special technology built-in, these literally actively reduce the sound that you hear from your surroundings to create a quiet environment for listening to your music or sound. The way the little internal engine does this is by measuring the lower frequencies of your surroundings and creating an equal and opposite frequency that cancels out that sound the little microphone picks up.

This eliminates that sound altogether before it even hits the ear pads to get into your mix. For higher frequency sounds, most noise-cancelling models use soundproofing, which keeps out many of the higher frequencies, or a combination of the two methods. This headphone category has grown popular for air travel because it blocks out the surrounding noises from other passengers and the high frequencies of the plane’s engine.

Why Does A Keyboard Start With ‘C’ Note?

2021-06-09T08:30:00.001+05:30

In the musical instrument notes, Middle ‘C’ is a highly debated question, “Why does a keyboard or a piano start with middle C instead of A?”. There are various pitch notations which may be one reason for the usage of C.

Some relate the reason with the organ instrument. Some reasons say about the grand staff. Let us try to understand why any notes start with ‘C’.

Pitch Notation

Middle C is the fourth C key from the left on a standard 88-key piano keyboard is C4 in scientific pitch notation, C′ in Helmholtz pitch notation, and it is note number 60 in MIDI notation. Someone playing a Western concert flute has a higher and narrower playing range than the piano, while C5 would be Middle C.

The frequency of the C ranges between 8.176 Hz to 16744.06Hz. The frequency of the middle C4 is 261.626 Hz. This technically inaccurate practice has led some to encourage standardizing on C4 as the definitive Middle C in instructional materials across all instruments.

The Grand Staff

Middle C, called middle C because it is in the middle of the grand staff. Piano music is most commonly notated on the grand staff. The grand staff is the combination of treble and bass clef joined with a bracket.

Middle-C is with a ledger line above the top line of the Bass staff or below the bottom line of the Treble staff. The treble clef is the tool most commonly used to denote music in the right hand on the piano. The Bass clef is the tool most commonly used to denote music in the left hand on the piano. The bass clef notes are most commonly found below middle C.

Major C Scale

The major scale can start on any note. The most familiar melodies use the major scale:

‘Whole Step, Whole Step, Half Step, Whole Step, Whole Step, Whole Step, Half Step’

This is the pattern of steps outlined by the white keys of the piano if you start on C scale. Naturally the C major scale is therefore the first one everyone learns. And "middle C" is the pitch exactly between the treble and bass clefs used in piano music.

C major is one of the many transpositions of the major scale. The real distinction is that it shall play using none of the piano's black keys. On the violin it has no special status at all. The C major key signature contains no flats or sharps.

Organ Instrument

Some reason suggests the designer of the musical instrument designed the keyboard around the C major scale does not come from the piano - it started with the organ instrument.

Organ builders discovered long ago that a pipe of 8 feet will give a note close to the pitch called C. This was a convenient place to start. Measuring and cutting a pipe to 8 feet is comparatively easy. Other notes require pipes of odd fractional lengths. So assign the scale you get from all the white keys assigned to the pipes that started with C. The other keys and their corresponding lengths of pipes developed from that C.

Sound of the Universe

2021-05-22T15:25:00.003+05:30

In yoga class for the very first time, you know you will chant ‘Om’ three times. Some feel sleepy after starting within a few seconds. While others might feel self-conscious and try hard to focus.

Why do you chant a word without knowing what it means? Sometimes the practice makes them feel a smooth go. What is it related to the sound of the universe?

Primitive Sound of the Universe

In temples, yoga studios, households, even television and movies you have heard of the sound of Om. The chanting and symbol of Om are familiar to most, as it has pervaded all over the world. The sound made up of vibrations. The number of vibrations per second, called frequency.

All matters, composed of atomic material, which is in constant motion, everything vibrates on some frequency. The word Om, defined by Hindu scripture as being the primordial sound of creation. It is the original vibration of the universe. From this first vibration, all other vibrations can manifest.

Why Do You Meditate?

Sound vibration affects a person’s physical, emotional, and mental state. By chanting Om, you can align frequency with that of the original universal frequency, which is essential. Om is the seed of transcendental sound, and it is through transcendental sound one can transform the mind and the senses.

By chanting Om, the mind becomes aligned with the breath, which enables a person to get into an elevated state of consciousness called samadhi. The activity of attaining samadhi brings the materially absorbed mind under control, which enables a person to have a one-pointed focus towards spiritual realization.

Sacred Syllable ‘A-u-m’

This syllable has three sounds. The ‘Pranava’ mantra comprises three syllables: ‘a’, ‘u’, ‘m’, showing the continuity of past, present and future. The Aum sound encompasses the masculine, feminine and neutral principles.

It addresses speech, mind and breath. Even if you can’t speak or hear, you feel its physical vibration throughout our bodies. At the point of chanting Aum, there is no thought, no separation. While chanting Aum, the syllable is the target, and our attention becomes focused on one point.

The Symbol of Aum (ॐ)

The combination of curves, crescent, and dot, which make up Aum’s visual representation. Each aspect of the visual form of Aum signifies a particular state of reality.

Large Lower Curve

It says the normal waking state. In this condition, the mind identifies with the physical body and perceives the world through the senses.

Upper Curve

It shows the unconscious state or that of deep sleep. This is a state of total unawareness, in which you are in a deep dreamless sleep, and you withdraw from both physical and mental activities.

Middle Curve

It denotes the dream state. The dream state is in between the deep sleep and waking state, where a person explores the subconscious. Your consciousness turns inwards as your fears, hopes, and desires manifest themselves in an imaginary world.

It is a symbol of enlightenment. In this state, a person becomes harmonized with the absolute, recognizing that all of the creation comprises spirit and units through that commonality. This state is beyond the mundane senses and achieved by associating with spiritual energy.

Crescent

It represents Maya, which separates the three curves from the dot. Maya is the illusion that binds an individual soul to the material world. By chanting Aum, one can transcend the three curves of material consciousness, and attain the dot of enlightenment.

‘Aum’ At Science

Sound, made up of vibrations produced from a source, travels through the air, and then picked up by the ear before being interpreted by the brain, which assigns them some value. You can align frequency with that of the original universal frequency. That leads the universe to make a unique sound called Aum.

According to the Big Bang theory, Aum (ॐ) is the cosmic sound that started the creation of the universe. Like an object depicted by many painters, different people manifested the Aum’s essence all over the world. Aum encompasses all of creation, and its merciful energy got by any who seek it, regardless of who they are, where they come from, or whichever faith they follow.

What is the Best Way to Learn an Art?

2021-05-17T21:20:00.007+05:30

Learning an art comes from interest. To become an artist, first, you should know what kind will suit you the most. When you choose your own, you must know what is the way to learn the art.

When you choose music as your art, you will know the importance of the basics. Take art education seriously because the basics of art are the foundation for you to grow up.

Patience

Be patient. Learning something new takes time. Every musician has spent years sharpening their skills. Don’t get disappointed, if you can’t get it the first time. Learning music or any art takes time and requires persistent effort with a lot of patience. Without patience, if you try to learn music, you will lose your confidence quickly. Only patience will take you to step forward.

Practice

The best way to learn art is to practice. Your results depend on how focused your practice sessions are and not on how long you are practising. Practice slowly from the first beat of one measure to the first beat of the consecutive measure, increasing the tempo as you go. This strategy will help you in the future with other difficult sections and help you play through the bar-lines and all important parts of musicality.

Perseverance

The best way to meet your goals is to practice consistently. When you join the first class, you will be more enthusiastic to learn music. As the days pass by, your faith fades away little by little. Because you are losing your perseverance. Practicing daily gives you effective results. Even if 30 minutes is too long, you can practice from 10 to 15 minutes. Schedule your regular practice with flexible time as well.

Dedication

Learning to play an instrument is something that requires dedication. You can’t master the instrument overnight. With full involvement, you should practise. Set a time for each day to practice and stick to this routine. You don’t have to dedicate all of your time to practising; just set aside limited time that you can focus on for practice and eventually you will perform well.

Musical Instrument

If you want to learn music-art, obviously you want a musical instrument. There are many musical instruments around the world. But only a particular instrument suits you if you are going to learn music for the first time. You may not know how to choose the correct instrument for you. You may seek a guide for choosing your instrument. You may seek a music class offline or online to join. You find it here to join online or offline music classes and guidance for choosing musical instruments.

How To Find The Key To A Song?

2021-05-12T12:17:00.002+05:30

This is the problem most musician's face. A person could start up a song, and it would take ages to figure out what key is, and as if you get the key but struggle with determining the pattern of the song.

Let us try to understand how to find the key to a song.

What is a key?

A key is a major or minor scale in music, around which a piece of music revolves. That relates to major and minor scales having 12 major and 12 minor keys respectively, and playing it produces a very melodic sound. People sometimes confuse keys with scale. A scale is an ordered set of notes typically used in a key, while the key is the "centre of the set of notes" established by particular chord progressions.

What is a Tonality?

Tonality is an organized system of tones of a major or minor scale in which one tone becomes the central point for the remaining tones. Skilled musicians and composers have learned to use these outside keynotes without upsetting the tonality of the music. Outside notes occur in most styles of music in many jazz solos, heavy metal riffs, or a simple pop song.

Key Signature

The easiest way to figure out the key of a song is by using its key signature. The number of sharps/flats in the key signature tells you the key of the song. A key signature with no sharps or flats is the key of C (or A minor). Helps moreover on the guitar and piano.

Chord Patterns

When key signature doesn’t help you, then chord patterns will identify the key of a song, whether it is a major/minor key. Chords of a key are chords formed from a scale. Take the C major scale as an example: C, D, E, F, G, A, B. For each note of this scale, we will form a chord. Therefore, we will have seven chords, which will be the chords of the key of C major. Chords set the tonality of a song depends on the chords present in that song.

Steps To Find The Key of a Music by Ear

Step 1 - Listen to the song - When you listen to it, feel the song completely.
Step 2 - Hum the song - When you do, hum along with the song.
Step 3 - Find the note on your instrument - hum and find the note.
Step 4 - Build the scale - once you find the key, build the scale.
