The Consistent Golf Putter - Part I

By Dave Nimmo

To become a consistent golf putter you must do two things. (1) Control distance and (2) Make a three-footer.

Once you feel that your golf stroke is fundamentally solid, most of your practice time should focus on distance control and securing the "feel". You can be taught golf fundamentals, but your level of feel will fall upon your shoulders. You need practice and more practice on the greens.

To get a general feel for the speed of the greens, hit several medium to longer golf putts. Move around the green so you are stroking different golf putts, uphill, downhill, left to right and right to left. Continue moving around the green until you have been relatively successful at putting the ball close to the hold. If you do not reach this point, then keep going. The more golf putts you roll, the more feedback you have.

Next, consistent putting requires a rhythm that is continuous throughout, much like that of a clock's pendulum. To maintain a consistent rhythm, use the same grip force throughout your golf stroke. Take time and practice this.

If your golf putts are coming up somewhat short of your target, you should first ensure that your golf stroke is the same length forward as it was back. If you incorrectly cut short your forward stroke, the ball will often end up short of the target.

You can use the three tee drill to check this. Place three tees in the ground in a line, so that the outside tees are of equal distance from the center tee. The ball should be placed in line with the center tee. Stroke your golf putt so that your putter head moves even with the back tee, then through to the forward tee. At this point, check to see that the back of your left hand has gone to the target and that you have maintained your wrist angles.

The second fundamental to check if your golf putts are continually coming up short is the length of your stroke. If your back stroke is too short, it will be difficult to get the ball to the hole, no matter what type of forward stroke you make. Increase the length of your backstroke and therefore your forward stroke as well.

Putts Continually Long of Your Target:

If your golf putts are continually rolling past the hole, check the following essentials. A backstroke that is too large would generate too much power and most often produce a putt that rolls too fast. Shorten the length of the backstroke and your forward stroke will produce less energy and not roll the ball as far.

Hitting your golf putts rather than stroking your golf putts will habitually roll the ball too far. Your rhythm and grip force should remain consistent throughout your stroke. If you force your forward stroke, which is frequently accompanied by an enhanced grip pressure, the ball will often roll too far.

Focus on keeping your rhythm even. Take notice when you start to stroke your putts rather than hit them that the sound coming off the putter face is different and not quite as loud. Focus on keeping your grip pressure even, rather than ever grabbing or pulling the putter.

Final Tip: Place your hands lower on your putter grip. Place your hands lower and you'll make the putter shorter which shortens the lever and therefore will produce less drive.

Your golf game deserves the finest quality golf practice mats available. UltiMat Pro is a realistic hitting surface with no wrist or club shock and no club burn. Extraordinarily durable, convenient and lightweight.
The Top 5 Golf Courses in Brittany

By Morgan Clarke

Brittany is just a pleasant ferry journey away or you can take the motorway from Calais or even fly from many UK airports to several in Brittany. The sheer number of high- quality golf courses in Brittany make it the ideal location for golfers seeking a luxury holiday with easy-to-get-to access and that French "je ne sais quoi!"

Here are 5 courses that should make you consider a Brittany golf holiday.

5. Dinard

The oldest golf course in Brittany (and the second oldest in the country!) starts our list. Designed by celebrated golfing architect Willie Dunn all the way back in 1887, this is a course that has improved with age and simply has it all: great golf, sensational coastal views and a charming Art Deco clubhouse. It isn't for novices though, despite being a short 5814 yards - it starts off easily, but quickly ramps up the difficulty to tax the most experienced of golfers. If you can manage it, try and play midweek as it's popular with members at weekends.

4. Nantes La Vigneux

Nantes Vigneux is full of surprises - fortunately, they're all of the pleasant variety for experienced golfers. Designed by Frank Pennink, this course really is a hidden gem. Lovely fairways, delightful woodland, and a relaxed atmosphere are countered by the difficulty of the small greens and the River Cens. First timers may struggle to get a good score, but this is one course that gets better every time you play it, meaning that one Brittany golf holiday may not be enough for this gem.

3. Val Andre

At only 15 years old, it's easy to overlook Val Andre as a young pretender to the prestige of some of the older golf courses in Brittany. However, Val Andre is one of France's best "new" courses. The wide fairways will do their best to lull you into a false sense of security but that will soon vanish after your first three putt on the tricky greens (made all the more difficult by the coastal winds!). Expertly maintained, Val Andre is well worth a day's golf on a golf holiday in Brittany - not just for the course, but for the fabulous views and splendid seafood on offer in the nearby coastal town.

2. Saint-Laurent

Perhaps the most famous golf course in Brittany, Saint-Laurent has hosted the PGA Championship on numerous occasions and offers a suitably challenging parkland test. Tough off the back, friendly off the front, you have to have all the shots in the bag to put a good score together. It's a classic design with great variety and a lovely "clubby" feel to the place.

1. La Baule

La Baule is the most popular golf course in Brittany and one of our clients' favourites. What you get is two fine 18 hole courses - the Red and the Blue - and the jury is out as to which one is the better. With a hotel on site, many clients "play and stay" for a few days, enjoying not only the golf but the nearby resort and myriad of restaurants. The golf course designers were Dave Thomas, Michel Gayon, Jack Nicklaus Jnr and Peter Alliss - they don't disappoint. This is parkland golf at its prettiest and requires a tight driving game to the lush fairways. As they say, "keep the ball in play and the pars look after themselves". With the round topped off by the smart thatched-roof club house, golf days in Brittany don't come much better than this.

Honourable mentions must include the courses at La Bretesche and Saint Malo...With so many great courses and just a short ferry and drive from England's south coast, Brittany makes the perfect escape for golfers. Consider a golf holiday in Brittany next time you feel like hitting the fairways with friends!

Morgan Clarke is the Managing Director of Your Golf Holidays, a company that has been providing bespoke golf holidays for over 25 years. They are experts in the world's best places to play, including [http://www.yourgolfholidays.com/brittany-golf-breaks-holidays.html]golf holidays in Brittany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Dubai, Morocco and over 20 other countries. The award-winning specialist tour operator is privately-owned and determined to ensure that both experienced golfers and novices will enjoy an unforgettable experience wherever they choose to go.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Morgan_Clarke
http://EzineArticles.com/?The-Top-5-Golf-Courses-in-Brittany&id=1484992

Golf Tips To Improve Your Game

By Vinesh Teeluckdhari

Golf is a brilliant way to unwind and is a way to keep healthy. It is a game where a player, using numerous kinds of golf clubs including a putter, wood, wedge, irons and driver, strikes a small white ball into every hole on the golf course in the minimal number of game strokes. Golf is one of the few games of ball that do not use a particular playing area; in reality, golf is played on the golf courses, each one of them being very contrasting and matchless in panache and design. It generally comprises of either nine or eighteen holes.

Golf game represents one of the most gratifying and worlds matured outdoor games. It's played in virtually all the parts of the world and is played by all ages. Golf has become very popular in United States in terms of fame. The amount of new courses of this game establishes this popularity. On an average, every other day a new course opens in the U.S.A..

Playing a golf game is not easy. If you are a beginner, you should abide by certain rules so that you can play a better game and have fun all in one. Here are some pointers that will certainly help to play a better game.

The position: It is among the most crucial golf tips for beginners. It is very essential to get the stance accurate so that you get the right swing and strike while playing golf. While playing, your feet should be shoulder width apart which will give you the required balance.

Holding the golf-club: It is very essential to get the right golf grip while playing golf and is one of the most crucial golf hints for beginners. There are many ways to clutch a club but its vital to do what you are easy with. However, the overlapping grip is considered to be the cleverest formula while playing golf.

Ball location: The perfect placement is the most significant golf tips for beginners. You should not position yourself too near or too far from the ball. Acquiring the accurate distance is really critical but challenging at the same time. You will get the precise position with practise.

Each golf player has got its own style of getting geared up when they go to golf range. Some players decide to begin with the more miniature golf-clubs and go on rising the weight to complete with the woods. Others prefer to start with weightier golf-club. Others choose to practice with a individual club. Some take a few golf lessons.

By using a individual club, players can centralize better on every shot and his method and more easily see what they are doing incorrectly. You can center on the grip and alter it to attain flawlessness. The point is that when you practice, a golf range is the better way to do it.

These golf hints for beginners can assist the folks who want to begin playing this superior game which is entertaining as well as a great way to keep fit so have fun!!

More information on how you can perfect your game, golf courses and equipment can be found at http://www.golfstickz.com

Author is Mr Vinesh Teeluckdhari

http://www.golfstickz.com

They want to "fix it".

More words that describe this scenario could be: reactive, corrective, hindsight, past-oriented, grading, critical, dwelling, negative, remorseful, unenjoyable, work, destructive.

A much more rare type of golf lesson is Developmental.

In this case - the instructor helps the student initiate/develop/create new skills or knowledge into their game.

Other words to describe this situation could be: creating, building, initiating, forward-looking, future-oriented, hopeful, pleasurable, teaching, positive, constructive.

This certainly - and definitely - includes "Lessons" you give yourself.

Do you always just seek to correct/adjust for your old, past mistakes?

Or doyoutry to bite off new challenges, attempt to learn new skills, methods or shots?

In my experience, while Correctional lessons are needed - (at times) - the vast majority of golfers (students and instructors) are WAY too interested in them, and participate in them too often. This harms the student's game, year after year.

A steady diet of Developmental lessons, on the other hand, often creates hope, excitement and energy to keep progressing in the game. They also create much more long-term improvement.

So where are you?

Properly maintaining the tenuous balance between these two types of lessons often assures a player of long-term improvement. It takes an experienced, soulful, clever, genuine, intuitive and caring instructor to continually maintain this balance.

So, again, where are you?

If you are your instructor - it'd be good for "both of you" to have this conversation.

If another person gives you lessons - ask yourself and that person - Are most of our "Lessons" Correctional or Developmental - why? Should we change that, or keep it the same.

Here's to the future "Development" of your game...All The Best!

Joel C.
Completely Avoid Lower Back Pain

By Brad Jeffreys

It has been estimated that 80% of golfers golf through pain. A majority of them are experiencing back pain as we speak. There are a few quick and simple steps you can take to ensure you will never get lower back pain.

The absolute best way to create a supportive frame in which you can golf for 72 holes or more without experiencing any back pain is through a couple of quick strengthening exercises. The goal of these exercises is to create enough flexibility and strength that the taxing movements of a golf swing are easily supported.

In order to avoid back pain from golfing, it is best to understand why the back pain happens. Each and every time a golfer swings their club, they put their body through a very wide range of motion, maintaining a spine angle that is relatively set, and generates power through these movements. It requires a great deal of flexibility for all of the components to come together in the correct fashion without doing even a slight bit of damage.

In addition, the golf swing is a repetitive action. Just like carpal tunnel syndrome is a result of the repetitive action of typing on a keyboard, a golf swing can have the same effect, but on a golfer's back. The muscles become fatigued and prone to injury.

With this in mind, it is relatively easy to create a specific exercise program that focuses on the lower back.

Mainly an exercise program that is ideal will focus on developing the back muscles which make the ranges of motion in the lower back possible by doing it efficiently. Some examples of such exercises are cats, windmills, and rotators. They all help develop the lower back muscles while improving flexibility: our end goal.

To find more useful tips on how to increase distance and improve accuracy, Click Here.

Are you a victim of the most common golf mistakes among golfers worldwide?
Golf Courses in Bournemouth - Golfing Heaven?

By David A Copeland

The Golf courses in Bournemouth and the surrounding areas are a fantastic reflection of the Town. There are over 17 different courses in close proximity to Bournemouth Town Centre and each presents a unique challenge to golfers. One of the best ones in the area is Canford Magna Golf Club at over 45 holes and an excellent standard of throughout. It also has a par 3 nine hole holes game. Another favourite is Knighton Heath, a fantastic challenge with splendid undulating views of the surrounding heath as well as the being varied on different height levels. A truly majestic and scenic experience.

Another fantastic little club is the 9 holer in West Parley. Right opposite Bournemouth Airport, great on a nice sunny day. You could think you were anywhere in the World. This one always has amongst the very finest greens anywhere in Bournemouth, great for a short game. Meyrick Park and Bournemouth are perhaps the most exclusive in Bournemouth itself. These two are regularly hosting tournaments. Perhaps the most popular is one situated behind Bournemouth Hospital, long stretched out fairways with their fair share of dog legs. An open ranging design, however, due to its popularity sometimes the first 9 holes can be a bit rough.

West Moors is another interesting challenge and has many obstacles to navigate around, all round a good test of your general skills. An excellent destination to enjoy one of lifes finer if not always rewarding pursuits. Bournemouth and the surrounding areas have a great choice and balance of the good the bad and the ugly tests of golfing prowess, definately one of the premier destinations to play in the summer.

The article was written by "david Copeland" with 1activity.com as a reference guide

http://www.1activity.com/golf.html

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=David_A_Copeland
http://EzineArticles.com/?Golf-Courses-in-Bournemouth---Golfing-Heaven?&id=1270874
EzineArticles.com

Who Makes the Best Golf Clubs

By Ian Pennington

When it comes to determining who makes the best golf clubs there really is no way to tell. The truth is that there are so many different manufactures out there who are making golf clubs everyday so there is no way to limit it down to just one golf club company. Within this article we will be telling you about some general information on golf clubs.

If you are a beginner when it comes to golf then chances are you have a hard time making the right amount of contact with the golf ball. We can tell you the best type of golf club in this situation and that would be a golf club that has a bit of an oversized club head. If your golf club has an oversized club head then you will be able to hit the ball a bit better and right in the center without missing.

When you get a golf club that has a bigger club head you can count on having less mis-hits. You know those heel and toes shows you were messing up on? Well you can count on having heel to toe shows a bit more solid now. Also if you have a club that is slightly shorter than the other golf clubs you will also be able to make a more accurate club-to-ball contact being a higher possibility.
If you are having problems with your out-to-in swing path then you should get a offset club head. What the offset club head is going to do is deliver the club fact back to the ball a bit later than normal. This golf club is also going to keep your hands a bit more in front of the club head and this is known to help with those fat shots you may have. If you can get a golf club that has adjustable weights on the club head then this will help you when it comes to adapting the club to a swing pattern that you are wanting. If you are going for those long shots and if you are a beginner you should choose the hybrid and woods clubs. These two clubs will give you the best loft. When you have more loft this means you will find it easier to get the ball to go in the air and it will more than likely be going further.

If you are a beginner then you should make sure you have a bigger head in order to increase your chances of hitting the right area on the ball. When it comes to the best golf clubs out there we must tell you those are the ones you can hit most consistently with. Some good clubs are Ping, Callaway, Miziuno, Talormade and Cleveland. When looking for these golf clubs you can go to a sporting goods store.

Ian Pennington is an accomplished niche website developer and author.

To learn more about golf clubs, please visit Choosing the Right Golf Clubs for current articles and discussions.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ian_Pennington
http://EzineArticles.com/?Who-Makes-the-Best-Golf-Clubs&id=1336039
EzineArticles.com

Golf Drivers - Improve Your Game With the Right Golf Driver

By Ilse Hagen

Improve your golf game by picking the right golf drivers. Golf drivers allow you to drive long range and to make shots from the rough or deep into the fairway. A recommended golf driver is usually made from durable, stainless steel material, which comes in different lengths and sizes.

More on drivers

Golf drivers are usually made from titanium, steel, or alloy. Steel drivers are cheaper and lighter. You can also find drivers made from fairway woods. Like iron, fairway woods can allow you to drive long ranges.

Drivers allow you to drive long ranges, but the distance or the range varies from player to player. It all depends on your skill level and the style you employ when playing.

Kinds of drivers

Below is more information on the different kinds of golf drivers:

Alloy golf drivers - these are the cheapest kind of drivers and have shafts made from graphite. These can replace fairway woods when driving. They are the least expensive golf drivers and are recommended for amateurs.

Stainless steel golf drivers - these have long and hard heads that are heavier than most kinds of drivers.

Forged titanium golf drivers - these are made from titanium heads with lightweight shafts made from graphite. These are the most expensive drivers and allow players to drive long distances.

Remember

A recommended golf driver should have two things:

Good material - the material should be of the highest quality. Pick the right kind of driver according to your skill level and your budget. A stainless steel driver is a recommended golf driver for experts looking for heavy drivers to drive long distances.

Quality - make sure to test run every driver before buying them. This way you can see the capabilities of the driver before actually buying it. Checking also allows you to look at the length, size, and weight of the driver so you can go for the right one.

Important buying tips

More information on Golf Drivers is available in Picky Guide, one of the fastest growing online magazines giving free consumer reviews and information.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ilse_Hagen
http://EzineArticles.com/?Golf-Drivers---Improve-Your-Game-With-the-Right-Golf-Driver&id=1337426
EzineArticles.com

Golfer finds golf, golfer falls in love with golf, golfer makes these 3 simple mistakes. Do you make them too?

Sometimes I wonder if these three mistakes are hard wired into the human psyche. They are so common, yet most golfers never actually get rid of them. The most common reason is the lack of ability to identify the problem, not just the symptoms.

For instance, if a golfer is slicing the ball dramatically, they have no idea what they're doing wrong. They only know that the ball has a banana shaped flight path and they spend more time in the woods than Davey Crockett.

So the first step is identifying the problem with the golf swing.

The 3 most common and simple mistakes that most amateurs make are opening the golf club face, swinging with an vengeance, and an unbalanced swing.

Opening the clubface leads to a severe slice, and should be avoided at all costs. The reason for opening the clubface can be one of many, and it is hard to tell exactly what the problem is without a swing analysis. You can, however, try closing the clubface when you address the ball. This may be the perfect solution you're looking for.

Swinging with a vengeance, also known as swinging too hard, is a very common mistake among golfers just starting out. They walk up to the ball with the mentality that they are going to crush the ball a million yards. Instead, they miss the ball completely, or hit it so far off the course they need to take a train to find their ball. Slow down, relax, and don't try so hard to hit the ball. It's been proven that the more relaxed swing you have, they better your results.

Finally, an unbalanced swing is the reason for a myriad of problems. If you think you're unbalanced, try this: when you walk up to the ball, ensure your feet are firmly planted and your weight is evenly distributed throughout your feet, not on the balls of your feet or your heels.

To find more useful tips on how to increase distance and improve accuracy, Click Here.

Are you a victim of the most common golf mistakes among golfers worldwide?
What a Newbie Should Know About Golf

By Benedict Yossarian

Golf is not an easy game

When you watch Pro golfers playing the game, it seems like golf is simply about swinging and hitting the ball. They give the impression that the game is easy and uncomplicated- that no doubt, anybody can learn to play golf without difficulty. But that's not the real case. The truth is, Tiger Woods was not an instant golf master and it takes a lot of time, patience, practice, and perseverance to learn how to play golf.

Golf Demands Training

Golf is all about persistence and practice. If you really want to be a pro golfer, you ought to be prepared to put in lots and lots of time and patience in learning and practicing golf.
On the average, you have to be prepared to strike hundreds of golf balls every day of your practice just to make sure that you can get the right golf grip and swing.

Now, if you are ready for the physical and emotional demands of the game, you ought to be quip with the technical know-how as well. In this case, you have to get professional golf training. There are two options- hiring a pro or a golf coach to train you, or enrolling in a golf school.

If you are in a metropolitan area, there is a high possibility that you can easily find one good golf institute that can transform you into a pro in no time. If there is none, you can find golf schools that offer accommodation packages.

However, if you have enough money, it is best that you attend weekly training sessions with a pro or a golf coach. Note that although this is more expensive, this method often shows to be more effective. On the average, weekly sessions that lasts for an hour or two will cost you about fifty dollars.

Note that golfers continue training even if they reach the pro level. Most pro golfers hire golf coaches to ensure continuous development of their golf swings and other techniques.

Golf Requires Practice

Practicing your golf skills is a must for a striving newbie. However, a good practice can only be done at an appropriate area. For beginners who want to practice swinging, the backyard is good venue. However, don't try to use real golf balls if you don't want to end up smashing your neighbor's windows. Instead, get a grip of a wiffle golf ball or practice swinging and hitting your imaginary ball.

If you want to hit real golf balls without risking damage to anyone's property, you can also practice at a driving range. Most driving ranges have chipping areas, practice putting greens, and sand bunkers.

As for golf courses, beginners ought to try Par-3 courses or executive courses which are shorter than the 18-hole ones. If you are up for the challenge of full size 18-holes, then look for courses that are not too extensive and complicated. Look for courses that offer a wide open space free from sand and water. Also, make sure that your place of practice will offer you relaxation and concentration. Try courses that are free from possible spectators.

Benedict Yossarian is specializes in internet marketing Benedict recommends Dream Swing as a golf swing trainer Dream Swing is one of the easiest ways to improve your golf swing.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Benedict_Yossarian
http://EzineArticles.com/?What-a-Newbie-Should-Know-About-Golf&id=1344191
EzineArticles.com

A Guide For Good Golf Grips

By Benedict Yossarian

A perfect golf swing, a perfect golf stance, and a superb hit will not be possible if a golfer cannot create good golf grips. Everything about playing the golf starts with how you can grip your golf club. Realize that the way you hold the golf club directly affects the flight and direction of your golf ball. As such, prior to paying much attention on how you swing the club or pose for a swing, make sure that you know how to get a good grip of your golf club first.

Steps in Gripping the Golf Club Properly

1.Hold your golf club against your stretched left arm. Be sure that your palm is on top and your fingers are bent towards the handle.

2.Note that the handle of the club should extend from your smallest finger to your index finger.

3.Apply pressure on your golf club using your three fingers, not your palm.

4.Note that the handle should settle transversely on the base of the smallest finger of your left hand and your right palms should rest on the top side of the club.

5.Check if you can see two Vs formed by your index fingers and your thumbs. If the Vs point to the right cheek, then your grip is good.

Points to Remember in Gripping the Golf Club

•If your grip is too strong, chances are you will put a lot of pressure on your hands and shoulders. As a result, your swing will be short and your golf ball will not go in the direction and distance that you want.

•If you grip is too weak, the trajectory of the ball flight will increase and the ball will follow a curved flight. Thus, you will miss your target.

•If your grips are too large, then you will not be able to have proper hand and shoulder coordination with the club. Chances are you will not be able to control your club and your swing.

•If the grips are too small, then pressure will overcome your hands and your shoulders, causing you to resist the natural direction and flow of your swing.

Therefore, your grip should be neutral. This means that your hands should be able to act appropriately and maintain control over a forceful swing, while at the same time, ensuring that the control does not impede the natural direction of the swing.

How to Improve Your Grips

To improve the grip, a golfer needs to practice. Examine how each golf stance affects your grip of the golf club. Determine how you can maintain and sustain calmness while playing the game. Try relaxation and anxiety control techniques. Also, do try to find golf equipment that suits your level of expertise, your height, posture, and physical built.

If you think you have problems regarding your yardage, then you should probably consult the nearest gym and look for exercises that can improve your forearm muscles. You might also want to consider using gloves. Some golfers say that the use of golf gloves will help you maintain a secure hold of the golf club, especially during pressure shots where perspiration can be a burden. To further develop your golf grips, then you can probably find someone who can watch you play and identify what seems to be the problem with your grips. A local pro or a golf coach may give you some effective techniques.

Benedict Yossarian is specializes in internet marketing Benedict recommends Dream Swing as a golf swing trainer Dream Swing is one of the easiest ways to improve your golf swing.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Benedict_Yossarian
http://EzineArticles.com/?A-Guide-For-Good-Golf-Grips&id=1344204
EzineArticles.com

Golf Club Accessories - Finding the Right Gift

By Jack S. Blacksmith

Are you in search of a gift for a golf enthusiast? Maybe you're looking for something for yourself that will improve your game or make it more personalized. Golf is one sport that has a plethora of accessories; it's almost mind boggling. There are accessories in all price ranges so there's always something that will fit your budget.

A golfer's golf clubs are something that is very important and something that has been acquired after much shopping and trial and error. Ask any golfer and they will tell you that borrowing or renting clubs will only be done if they're desperate. As this is the case, think about golf accessories for their clubs. The easiest one is a cleaning kit to keep their prized possessions shiny and new. There are also head covers that range from basic to ones in the shape or animals or more conservative monogrammed ones. Golf club grips are another idea; there is a diverse selection and if the accessory is for yourself then you might think about shelling out more for a custom fit grip.

There are other golf accessories to make the game more personalized. There is a wide variety of golf tees and golf balls. They come in an array of colors and styles and you can also get them personalized. Tees come in rubber or brush; brush is preferred since it is supposed to be longer lasting and give the golfer better accuracy. Golf balls come in many colors and it's more of preference than anything else so pick one in your or your friend's favorite color. A good compliment to balls and tees is a golf ball cleaner.

A ball retriever is another accessory that is popular for the golf enthusiast. There are affordable, yet effective, generic ones to choose from or you can get one personalized. Its nice to have if you're on your local course or exploring golf courses in Costa Blanca.

There are also gifts and accessories that are used in the sport but have no real bearing on the game or relation to the equipment. Golf towels are something that every golfer has and many are available with logos but most choose monograms or to personalize it with a family crest.
Correcting a Golf Slice

By Lawrence Bredenkamp

Correcting a golf slice can be a very frustrating experience.

A golf slice is probably the most common problem that new golfers are faced with and the more they try to correct the golf slice the worse it becomes.

Golf is a game of opposites and this is foreign to most people. What do I mean by a game of opposites? In golf if you want to hit the ball high you need to hit down on it, if you want the ball to go left you need to hit it to the right.

When a person first plays the game he is likely to find that he is hitting a slice (some 71% of people have this problem) and in his efforts at correcting the golf slice he will try and do the natural thing, which is to hit it left. But in golf this is the wrong thing to do as he should be trying to hit it out to the right.

Let me explain:

There are only two things that cause a golf ball to slice. The first is the swing path of the club, which must be from outside to in, and the second is the clubface angle at impact.

The swing path is defined as "the direction the club head moves, through impact, in relation to the ball to target line".

Clubface angle is defined as "the angle of the leading edge of the club head, at impact, in relation to the ball to target line".

You can see this for yourself by drawing a line through the ball to the target (ball to target line) and placing your club behind the ball on the ball to target line. Now turn the clubface in a clockwise direction. Your clubface is now open.

Assume the side of the line on which you are standing is below the line and the other side is above the line. Take the club away in the following manner. Start your takeaway and downswing so that they are above the line but as they reach the line follow through below the line. Effectively cutting across the imaginary line. To get a slice this is how you would have to strike the ball through impact. So for correcting a golf slice you need to at least square up the clubface at impact. If you did this without changing your swing path your shot would change to a fade. If on the other hand you over corrected and closed your clubface at the point of impact the result would be an ugly pull shot.

There is nothing wrong with a fade and a lot of tour players use it as their preferred shot. When played correctly a fade lands softly without too much roll because of the spin being in the opposite direction to which the ball is going. This is a bit like backspin in tennis where the ball dies quite quickly.

Whilst a fade is a very useful shot to be able to play most golfers prefer to play a draw. There are a number of reasons for this but the main two are distance and control.

So in correcting a golf slice you need to know what is causing an out to in swing path and an open clubface through impact.

The open clubface is usually caused by a weak grip. To strengthen your grip try turning both your hands clockwise. Adjust until, on a slow motion practice swing, the club face comes back to square at impact. As stated before if you just do this your shot will turn into a very manageable fade.

To change the swing path from outside to in to inside to out try the following. Again do this in slow motion with your ball through target line in place.

Address the ball as normal and then raise the club about 18 inches above the ground. Start your backswing and return the club to the ball. This will force your hands to come inside. A sort of Back, under - Back, under drill. Repeat often until you are comfortable with it and then actually start striking the ball.

I hope that the above information has been of some help and that it will help you in correcting your golf slice.

As a qualified golf coach I get great pleasure in helping people improve their game. If an uncontrollable slice is one of your problems and you found this article helpful then you will find more help and a permanent solution on my website. But please remember that no amount of coaching or lessons will help you if you are not prepared to put in a little bit of practice.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Lawrence_Bredenkamp
http://EzineArticles.com/?Correcting-a-Golf-Slice&id=688610
EzineArticles.com

Beat the Chipping Yips

By Lawrence Bredenkamp

I have a friend, Alan, who has been battling for years to beat the chipping yips. It's sad to watch Alan when he is next to the green because he is such a talented golfer but his entire body just freezes when he has to chip. Alan is a very talented golfer and plays off a 7. So if he could beat the chipping yips he would be deadly.

He knows the exact day, the exact hole and the very shot that gave him his chipping yips back in August 1998.

Alan's chipping yips are so bad that playing in an Ambrose type format the other day we based our decisions on which ball to play dependant on whether he would have to chip.

The particular format for this competition was as follows:

Each team comprised three players. All three players teed off and the best drive was selected. Once a player's drive had been selected he took no further part in the hole and his two partners played from then on.

Every player had to have at least three of his drives selected during the round.

All in all a fairly simple format but there are 6 par threes on our course, four par fours and four par fives where the regulation approach shots are usually short iron shots - and not full shots at that. This meant there were no less than 14 holes where we needed to avoid having Alan chip.
It proved to be quite a problem on the day.

Yipping in chipping (as in putting) is very much in the mind. It is an uncontrollable release of chemicals through the cranial system that makes someone like Alan freeze as soon as he has to chip. The science of cranial fluids is a complicated subject but it is worth noting that negative emotions (in Alan's case I suspect a subconscious flash back to that day and that shot) cause adverse chemical secretions that hinder your performance. I won't try and explain it here but think of it in terms of the gas in your vehicle - you don't need to know the composition of it - you simply need to know that it works.

The best way to beat the chipping yips is to understand what you are trying to do and with a little bit of practice coupled with the correct coaching you can beat the chipping yips. Essentially erase that memory through continued success. Delete the tape that lurks below the surface and is triggered into "play" mode as soon as a chip shot is faced.

Watching amateur golfers I often suspect we all have a small amount of the chipping yips in us. It's amusing (sometimes) to watch normally confident golfer's entire demeanour change because they suddenly have to play a shot that requires touch. How many times do you take out a putter, for safety sake, when a chip is the correct shot?

If you really want to beat the chipping yips you need to understand the basic chip shot and the correct way to execute it. Once you know what you are supposed to do and then learn how to execute the shot the anxiety of the result is removed.

It is this anxiety that makes Alan freeze, an uncontrollable and irrational fear that what he dreads most will repeat itself every time he chips. Unfortunately that is exactly the result he gets 99% of the time.

If Alan could learn to beat the chipping yips we could do quite well in next years Holden Open competition and make up the point two of a shot that knocked us into third place in a competition where only the winner and runner-up advance through to the regional stage with all expenses paid.

Don't suffer any longer with the chipping yips when you don't have to. In 99% of cases the yips can be overcome, it does take a bit of practice and application but it is not impossible. Do yourself a favor and go to Play The Lie and get the help that allow you to beat the chipping yips for ever.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Lawrence_Bredenkamp
http://EzineArticles.com/?Beat-the-Chipping-Yips&id=1343465
EzineArticles.com

The Tiger Woods Golf Secret

By Brad Jeffreys

So what is Tiger Woods's secret? How does he completely dominate a sport like no person ever has before? How can he win a major championship on a broken leg? His secret has led him to be one of the most celebrated athletes throughout the entire world.

There have been many rumors flying around about Tiger's workout secrets. He obviously has bulked up. If you compare his picture when he won his first Masters to a picture right now, you can see an obvious increase in muscle mass. Because of this, there have been rumors that Tiger takes some questionable, even illegal substances.

Unfortunately Tiger is very secretive about his workout. This may be the reason that so many speculators have accused him of taking some kind of substance to alter his physical shape. I'm here to tell you that's ridiculous.

Golf Digest actually did some very good investigative reporting and found out that Tiger works out a lot. He combines some serious flexibility exercises with a very intense cardio program. They found that he would actually go to different gyms so that he could keep his secret safe.

If you want to take advantage of a similar program, start with a couple of easy, familiar exercises.

The first you should start with is some core exercises like mountain climbers and sit ups. These will build up your core strength, which is where 70% of your power comes from in a properly executed swing.

The other you should think about is through lower body movements like squats and leg lifts. This will develop your legs, another place where about 10-15% of your power comes from.

To find more useful tips on how to increase distance and improve accuracy, Click Here.

Are you a victim of the most common golf mistakes among golfers worldwide?
Affordable Golf Clubs Will Get You Started

By Jeffrey Veal

At one time, the game of golf was viewed as a hobby for those of a prominent stature. Today, we are finding people from all walks of life taking up this magnificent sport. Unfortunately, not everyone who has a real interest in learning the game of golf can dish out a ton of money on clubs and accessories. They're still deliberating whether they actually desire to play golf, or if they just like the idea of playing golf.

This is one game that you will love one minute, and the following moment find yourself swearing that you'll never play it again. But, all it calls for is that perfect shot to drag you back in. There are only a few things on this earth that can equal to the emotional roller coaster ride that golf will put you through. Purchasing a set of inexpensive golf golf clubs is a good start to helping you get in touch with your inner golfer.
Golf Short Game Tips to Help You Reduce Your Handicap Fast

By Marla Paulsone

If you are just learning how to play golf then you must first understand the critical importance of the short game and how it can help you learn and improve at the game very quickly. Most amateurs spend way too much time hitting their long irons and driver and not nearly enough working on putting, chipping and wedge play. Here are some tips regarding the various aspects of the short game that can help you to shoot lower golf scores quickly:

Putting Tips:

Putting can really make a big difference in lowering your golf scores and making the game more enjoyable. There are many putting styles that you will see even the professional golfers using so the key is to pick one style you like and stick with it making only minor adjustments here and there to improve it. Do not get caught up constantly changing your entire putting technique just because you did not make a few easy putts the last round.

One of the biggest keys to succeeding in putting and never getting the putting yips is to realize that putting is very much a mental game. Confidence is a critical factor and you need to always believe that the putt will go in the hole every time you hit the golf ball with your putter. Do not aim for a 3 foot circle with long putts because this will only increase your margin for error. Always focus on making every putt.

What you think about before you hit each putt is the most important element to consistently good putting. It may be best to simply keep your mind quiet and just look and react to your targets trusting that your mind and body will send the ball the right distance and direction.

Chipping And Sand Shot Tips:

You should always spend some time during each practice session hitting chips and sand shots around the green. Look for the worst possible lies and hit from them because then hitting from the fairway on the course will seem easy by comparison. When hitting chip shots you want the ball to be back in the stance aligned with your right foot and you want to use an open stance where your feet point to the left of the target.

With sand shots you want the ball a little further up in your stance still using an open stance and you should aim to hit a spot a few inches behind the ball so you can use a cushion of sand to lift the ball out of the bunker. Be sure to accelerate on the downswing otherwise you risk hitting it fat.

Wedge Play Tips:

Do not underestimate the importance of good wedge play as it can setup easy birdie opportunities for you on the course. Hit many wedge shots from various distances from 40 to 135 yards. The key to developing feel is simply practice so there are no shortcuts here. You should hit at least half of your practice balls with the wedge.
What You Need to Know in Getting Good Golf Equipment

By Benedict Yossarian

The key to ensuring a good golf game is to have good golf equipment. Getting the right tools for playing golf is not much of a problem these days. Chances are there are many sports shop in your area that will offer prime golf equipment. In some cases, there may even be some professional golfers in your vicinity that offer garage sales every once I a while. In cases where there are no pro shops or yard sales nearby, you an always opt to buy golf equipment on the many websites that offer quality sports gear. All you need to have is supreme patience and perseverance in finding good deals and quality gears. Below are some points to consider when buying good golf equipment:

•Consider your budget. Your personal finances and your budget for your beloved sport will likely determine what kind of golf equipment you should get for yourself. Note that you have so many choices when it comes to brands. However, do not think that a cheap golf gear always exemplifies a poor quality performance. Note that there are many affordable brands that offer first-class quality and craftsmanship.

•Realize that you have many options. As pointed out earlier, golf equipment can be bought from many places. Other than that, most shops sell not just brand new golf gears, they also offer used ones. In this case, if your budget doesn't allow you to purchase a brand new set of clubs, you can try looking for high quality golf clubs that have been used by pros either in some pro shops or over the web.

•Consult the Experts. When you are not sure which brand is better or what shaft fits you well, especially if you are a newbie, do not hesitate to consult a pro. Look for someone who understands the sport well and ask for his help. In some cases where you can't find a friend to consult with, head for the sports shop and there will surely be a salesperson who can help you determine what golf equipment most people prefer.

•Look Around You. Before you head straight to your favorite golf shop and pick out gears, try researching about the one hundred and one options you have for golf equipment. Realize that there are so many options out there, not just the brand that is popular but expensive. Prioritize quality not popularity. Also, do not settle for a golf shop that's prominent in your area. Surely, there are many other shops nearby that can probably offer you golf equipment at a more affordable price. Some may even give out freebies.

•Determine Your Needs. When it comes to playing golf, no particular equipment will have the same effect in the game of two golfers. This is because various golfers may be at same level of expertise in golf or they may have learned the same stance and style of swinging, but their grips and swings will vary based on their physical abilities that will likewise differ.

•Know What Enough Is. Playing golf doesn't require you to have hundreds of clubs, or thousands of balls and tees. Note that according to the rules, a golfer can only bring no more than fourteen clubs during a game. A pair of good golf shoes, a bucketful of golf balls, several golf shafts, and a number of golf tees will already assure you of a great game.

Benedict Yossarian is specializes in internet marketing Benedict recommends Dream Swing as a golf swing trainer Dream Swing is one of the easiest ways to improve your golf swing.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Benedict_Yossarian
http://EzineArticles.com/?What-You-Need-to-Know-in-Getting-Good-Golf-Equipment&id=1344201
EzineArticles.com

Core Fitness For That Perfect Golf Swing

By Benedict Yossarian

Core training to improve the golf swing is the lingua franca of golf sport today.

Understanding the mechanics of your body and knowing which part of it you should strengthen will give you that optimal swing that every golfer desires. The core area of the body is the region between the knees and your chest. It is composed of muscles, bones, nerves, and all other underlying structures.

The core area is the region of the body where most of the golf swings essential components occur. The body works like an oiled machine to hit that ball on the ground and make it cut through the air to land a few hundred meters on the fairway. The spine serves as an axis where the shoulder fully rotates before striking the ball. The bones are the levers and the muscles the machines that give it the right amount of thrust. The lower back muscles and the abdominal muscles stabilize the upper body for the stability needed to complete the golf swing.

Understanding the correlation of the body movements to the golf swing sheds light to the importance of core training for improvement of performance in the sport.

Golf requires flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance to bring that ball where you want it to be. One cannot be competitive in golf if he doesn't have the minimum physical components required.

Cross Specificity in Core Training

Cross specificity trains an athletes body for positions required and the movements needed for a particular sport. With golf, the most common area of improvement is the increase of the distance where they can send the ball to. To do this a golfer must study the mechanics of his swing and the ability of his muscle to have that power for the needed swing.

How the golfer coils his shoulder to cock it for the swing is very vital. The next part of the swing is unleashing the power as it strikes the ball. The club head speed can be developed by training the body trough the motion it needs to complete a powerful swing.

One great exercise to go through is plyometrics using a medicinel ball. Side throws using the medicine ball will help one achieve that power swing. Here's how to do it:

On address position stand three to four feet away from a wall. Use a three to five pound medicine ball and execute a back swing. At the end point of the movement, make a coiling action and forcefully rotate the hips, throwing the ball to the wall. Catch the ball as it bounces back. You can repeat this exercise eight to twelve times. You also have to do it on the opposite side of the body to achieve balance. A golfer can do this routine twice a week. Remember that plyometrics require strength and flexibility as a prerequisite.

Core training program for golf will only be effective if it is geared towards achieving balance, strength, flexibility and power that is specific to the sport. The exercises included in the program must be correlated to the movements that you need for golf.

Not every program labeled as core training will be beneficial to you as a golfer. Ask for professional assistance if needed to avoid injuries due to improper body mechanics during exercise.

Benedict Yossarian is specialises in internet marketing. Benedict recommends Dream Swing as a golf swing trainer.
