kuwait zaizafoon says: Madoka and Fifi have a sister; her name is Mars. While her mother Thudhashy and both of her sisters are white, Mars is red. ;-) We occasionally have cats or kittens available for adoption, but of course we insist that they be kept as indoor pets and are only available to special approved owners. Mars is now living at her new home as a loved and dear member of her new family.

cHrIzZz: I photographed this kitten in Austria in front of the hotel where we were staying at. It was really cute when it played with the little yellow thingy so I decided to take pictures while it was busy. Don't know its name and neither do I know its breed.

Mary says: My husband and I lost our beloved cat, Figaro, in March. His passing was sudden and heartbreaking. He meant the world to us and we are so grateful to have known him and loved him. After he passed away, the house was so empty and lonely. We knew we needed a cat in our lives! It just didn't feel right not to have "someone" waiting at the door to greet us. We decided to adopt kittens. We knew that there are so many animals out there that need homes, and we needed an animal to love, so why not go ahead and bring some happiness back to our household? Figaro had been an "only child," so we decided to adopt siblings this time, so that they would have each other for company and to play with.

We found our kittens at the LaGrange, Georgia, Humane Society on April 17. Friday was still in the caged area napping with his mother and his brothers and sisters. When they all started waking up, I noticed little Friday's face. He had such sweet eyes and striking markings. He was the fuzziest and smallest of all the kittens and I asked if I could hold him. He was lovely and sweet! I knew we had found our kittens. :) We adopted Friday and one of his sisters, whom you will meet tomorrow.

My husband named Friday after one of his favorite TV characters -- Sergeant Joe Friday from Dragnet. Friday and his sister have been at home with us for nearly two weeks now and they are eight weeks old. Friday is getting bigger every day. He is not shy at all, he loves visitors, and he has already won the heart of his new veterinarian!

Diana says: Max is a dear wee chap we got from the Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals here in Auckland, New Zealand. He is not only beautiful but the most gentle and fun-loving kitty in the world. Nickname: Dudipus Max.

Ralph says: Pretty Luna was Leonardo and Lucky Luke's litter mate. Although I only met her twice, Luna seemed to be a quiet, settled character. She leaves her birthplace to take place in another cattery. As I hear last month, Luna is alive and kicking in her new, lovely home.

Andrew says: Maverick belongs to my friends David and Nick. She was abandoned at just a few days old by her mother, one of the many feral cats at Nick's parents' farm. David and Nick have hand-reared her. They even had to teach her how to use the litter box properly! She's a dear little thing and being hand-reared has given her some really curious (but endearing) habits.

Moon says: Our Norwegian/Belgian forest cat Momo was wanting to be outside exploring so much that I decided to get a friend for him, in hopes that it would keep him more at home. So the Miyuki came, a Maine Coon lady. He did stay a bit more home in the beginning, but now he's having his walks again and Miyuki is the one that stays with us. She is the beautiful one, a bit more simple, but she's very kind. Like Momo, Miyuki's name comes from the animated television series Avatar, where Miyuki is a posh fat cat.

Kim says: I’d actually never intended to own a cat, but saw her crawling along the side of the road and shrieking in the rain and picked her up without thinking. Then got back to my apartment and panicked; I had no idea what to do with a kitten. Luckily she ate some solid food and didn’t seem to be injured (although fairly traumatised). I bought some expensive flea remedy at the vet and knocked up a Web site hoping to find someone to adopt her with cute photos. I found a potential adopter within a couple of weeks, but by then of course it was too late -- I couldn’t let her go! Fortunately my stay in Shanghai, which had been scheduled to end a few weeks after I found her, has been extended indefinitely. Utopia and I will be here together for the foreseeable future.

Since then the Web site has gone viral and I get fairly regular e-mails about her. Most people seem to assume she was abandoned by someone, but I expect she never had a home and somehow became separated from her mother (not that there were any obvious candidates in sight). There are lots of strays in Shanghai; you often see them being fed by elderly Chinese women.

These days Utopia busies herself with making sure all my possessions are on the floor where they can be comfortably chewed.

Stella says: We found Zissou near a country house, she was abandoned when she wasn't even a month old, she needed care and food: she weighed less than 500 gr when we brought her home. I named her Zissou from The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou because I'm such a Wes Anderson fan and because I wasn't sure at first if she was a she or a he and I liked it both ways. She grew up so much since then! And she grew up to be the boss in the house; she's a little lion in disguise. She loves company (in fact she gets grumpy if left alone in a room), nibbling on human hands, the mop, the sound of opening tuna cans, and curling up on your lap at night and watch films with the rest of the family.
