I was talking to Rob Lovering Spencer after the service and he was telling me that Rebecca likes listening to audio Bibles.

There are numerous Bibles to choose from. Most of them are mediocre in my opinion. So is there a cadillac in audio Bibles. Yes there is. If you’re cooking dinner, lying on the couch or driving and you want to relax and hear the Word of God, then there is an excellent Bible for you. It is really not for study because the readers are very good and offer a dramatic interpretation. Personally, I like that. “Souped Up” – GSCC Community Lunch

Join us on the first Sunday of each month downstairs in the Fellowship Hall immediately after worship for a community lunch of homemade soup and bread. The lunch is free and everyone is invited. Come and meet new people and connect with old friends over a bowl of hearty soup. The first community lunch will be on Sunday, March 4. Mark your calendars!

For centuries Christians throughout the world have marked the beginning of the Lenten pilgrimmage towards Good Friday and Easter Sunday by receiving the sign of ashes. The people of God have a long history of making use of ashes to express their humility and repentance before the living God (see for example, Job 42:3-6, Jer. 6:26, Dan. 9:3). Please join us for worship on the evening of February 22 @ 7:30 pm to receive the ancient sign of the ashes as we begin our Lenten journey to the cross.

This bulletin board was last week’s “service project”, and believe me, it wasn’t done in a snap! It involved searching through the large supplies we had on hand, pinning them in place, standing back to survey with a “critical eye”, making changes, and finally making sure they were firmly in place. Not bad for one grade-four girl!

The previous week, we finished up this “service project”:

Again, it seemed easy enough to make these Valentine’s cards for our shut-ins, especially since the supplies we already had were pre-packaged; but it did take time–two weeks in fact, to decorate, add words and carefully print names inside the cards, and then address the envelopes. Hopefully they all arrived in time!

The sermon will begin to play as soon as you click on the play button, next to the sermon you want. You could even listen to it from your mobile device!

Also included are the sermon notes, and the notes for Small Group–click the pdf to download, or the sermon title for more details. We hope to continue having this available as quickly as possible, which will fit nicely for our “Connecting” Small Group + sermon series.

Charitable Donation Tax Receipts Picked up Sunday February 12th

If you picked up your Tax Receipt this past Sunday please DESTROY IT! There is an error on the page. The line that says “Donations during the year of ****” has the date of 2010 and should be 2011. Amended Tax Receipts will be available this coming Sunday February 19th. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Why Register For An Account

After our recent post on How to register for an account, many people have been asking a related, yet unanswered question: why register for an account?

Subscribing to the website and registering for an account are two different things. When you subscribe to the website, all we request is an Email address, that we use to send you an email when new information is posted online. When you register for an account, we ask you for a user name and password, that you can use to log in to the website.

Once you’re logged in, depending on how we’ve set up your account, you may be able to do any or all of the following:

Post To Discussion Forums: if your small group has a discussion forum on the website, you will need an account to participate in small group discussions.
Request A Small Group Forum: if you’re a small group leader, and want a forum for your small group, you can use your account to request one.
Post Website Updates: If you are an elder or staff member, your account will allow you to post elder and staff blogs, news about upcoming events, etc.

In short, registering for an account isn’t just for staff. It’s something any interested GSCC member is welcome to do.

GSCC Site Extends Support To Mobile Devices

You told us and we heard. On February 7th our website now supports Apple Devices, Androids as well as most models of Nokia phones. It is now possible to do all functions including creating blogs, making comments as well as just simple browsing anywhere anytime.

On your way home from work, while in the parking lot, click on one of our sermons and you can listen to it while driving.

A Listening Post is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts about the future of Good Shepherd with others. Pastor Brian will note the ideas and collect them to present to the elders.

You can participate in Listening Posts:

Sunday February 12 at 9:00 am (the Pilgrim’s Progress discussion is cancelled that week only.)

Wednesday February 15 at 12 noon (Lunch and Learn time will be used for this)

Tax Receipts
