Link your Google Calendar booking pages when composing emails in Gmail

What’s changing

To make sharing your availability even easier, we’re adding the ability to share your Google Calendar appointment booking page directly in your email. By clicking the Calendar icon at the bottom of your email draft, you will see the list of existing booking pages and an option to create a booking page. Once a booking page is selected, it will be inserted into the email draft.

Why you’d use it

With this update, you can manage scheduling all in one place, eliminating the need to open multiple tabs to figure out when you’re available and then reiterate that in an email. In addition to reducing the back-and-forth when negotiating or scheduling meeting times, this feature is especially useful when scheduling time with customers, partners or people outside your organization whose calendars are not visible to you.

Getting started

Admins: There is no admin control required for this feature.
End users:

To add your booking page to an email draft, select the Calendar Icon > click the correct booking page (or create a booking page) > see the booking page inserted into your email draft > hit Send.

Now Generally Available: Migrate files from Microsoft SharePoint Online to Google Drive

What’s changing

Earlier this year, we announced an open beta for migrating files from Microsoft SharePoint Online to Google Drive in the New Data Migration service. Beginning today, this functionality is now generally available.

Admins can use the New Data Migration service to migrate data from SharePoint Online sites, including document libraries, folders, files and associated permissions, helping organizations transition to Google Workspace quickly and easily.

Additionally, you’ll notice a new, streamlined interface designed to simplify your migration experience.

You can migrate data from up to 100 SharePoint Online sites at a time to Shared Drives in Google Drive.
You can find comprehensive reporting on migration progress, including site and file counts (migrated/skipped). You can also export migration reports for error investigation and troubleshooting.
Delta updates are available to migrate newly added or updated files.

Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace users
At Google I/O 2025 we introduced Veo 3, our new latest video generation model that can generate video with audio. Today, Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace customers.

With Veo 3 you'll notice real-world physics and accurate lip syncing - this includes things like traffic noises in the background of a city street scene, birds singing in a park, and even dialogue between characters. We also introduced a new photo to video feature that allows you to upload a photo and create an 8-second video. You can get creative by animating everyday objects, bringing your drawings and paintings to life or adding movement to nature scenes.

There is a limit of 3 daily uses for enterprise and education users and 5 daily uses for those with the Google AI Ultra for Business add-on. When you are approaching this limit, you’ll see a warning message in the UI. Adding Google Calendar sharing to Android devices
In Google Calendar, you can share any calendar you own or have permission to share with other users and groups. This functionality is currently available on web only, and this week we’re excited to extend it to Android devices. Automatically level audio across a video in Google Vids with balance sound
In May, we preannounced the ability to easily adjust sound levels across videos in Google Vids. Starting today, users can automatically level the volume of audio and video clips in their Vids and add audio ducking to background music, which automatically lowers (or "ducks") music when another audio or video clip’s volume starts playing. | Rollout to Rapid Release domains is complete; launch to Scheduled Release domains planned for July 21, 2025. | Available to Google Workspace customers with access to Google Vids. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about controlling audio timing, balance & transitions with audio tracks.

Gemini summary cards now available in Gmail on web
In May, we introduced Gemini summary cards in Gmail on Android and iOS devices. A new look and feel is coming for the Workspace Updates Blog
We’re excited to share that a refreshed experience for the Workspace Updates Blog will be launching on Monday, July 14. Some of the improvements you’ll notice are:

Starting today, we're making it easier to find information within a Google Site. Previously, searching in a site only showed results from the text directly on the pages. Drive IRM Update: More Control for File Owners and Shared Drive Managers

Now, individual file owners and shared drive managers can apply printing, copying, and downloading restrictions to users with edit permissions as well. Introducing Lucidchart and Lucidspark apps in Google Chat

What’s changing

Lucidchart, an app that helps users collaborate on diagrams, such as flowcharts, wireframes, entity relationship diagrams, and more, and Lucidspark, a virtual whiteboard tool, are two third-party add-ons already available across Workspace apps, such as Docs and Meet. Today, we’re excited to announce support for both of these apps in Google Chat.

Lucidchart and Lucidspark’s integrations with Google Chat will enable users to:

Get an immediate preview of Lucidspark and Lucidchart links shared in Chat conversations.
Type “/lucidsearch” in Chat to find and share Lucid documents instantly.

Admins:

If you have already admin-installed the Lucidchart and Lucidspark add-ons, then no action is needed.
To enable the Lucid for Google Chat app for all users in a domain, or to add these apps to the allowlist for users to be able to install them, admins can admin-install or allowlist Lucidchart and Lucidspark from the Google Workspace Marketplace.

End users:

Every user that already has the Lucidchart and Lucidspark add-ons will automatically get the Chat app.

Drive IRM Update: More Control for File Owners and Shared Drive Managers

What’s changing

The Information Rights Management (IRM) feature for Drive prevents the downloading, copying and printing of documents for viewers and commenters. Currently, individual file owners can use IRM to limit viewers and commenters from printing, copying, or downloading a file. Earlier this year, we launched the ability for admins to restrict these actions for users with edit permissions.

Now, individual file owners and shared drive managers can apply printing, copying, and downloading restrictions to users with edit permissions as well. Editors and owners can still edit the document itself, however they can only copy and paste document content within the document itself.

As a whole, IRM controls give both admins and end users the ability to help prevent sensitive content from being leaked.

Getting started

Admins: IRM can be applied to all users, including file writers and owners, when it is applied by a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) rule. Visit the Help Center to learn more about preventing commenters and viewers from downloading, printing, or copying files and our previous announcement concerning the ability for admins to restrict actions for users with edit permissions.

End users: Once this feature is enabled, all entry points for downloading, printing, and copying will be removed from Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides on all platforms. Note: If a file has both an administrator-applied IRM setting and a file owner setting on it, the administrator setting takes priority. Visit the Help Center to learn more about stopping, limiting, or changing how your files are shared.

This highly-requested update expands the search capabilities beyond just the content on the page, providing a more comprehensive and efficient experience. This feature helps you find exactly what you're looking for, whether it's on a page or within an embedded file.

Additional details

For existing sites, the fastest way to enable this feature is to re-publish your site.
If you choose not to republish, embedded search will still become available on your Site in the coming months.
No action is required for new sites as the feature will be enabled by default.

Manage email subscriptions from a single location in Gmail

What’s changing

With the “Manage subscriptions” view, you can organize your subscription emails and easily unsubscribe from the ones you no longer want – all from a single place.

To find this view, click the navigation bar in the top-left corner of your inbox and select “Manage subscriptions.” Your active subscriptions are sorted by the most frequent senders alongside the number of emails they’ve sent you in the past few weeks. If there’s a sender you no longer wish to receive emails from, you can easily unsubscribe in one click, and Gmail will send an unsubscribe request to the sender on your behalf.

Suggested next steps are now included in the notes email

Also part of this update, meeting hosts and co-hosts for meetings taken on a web browser can now choose who the meeting notes should be sent to: all invited guests, invited guests in your organization, or hosts and co-hosts only. Note that the default setting is “Invited guests in your organization”.

Once you change the sharing setting, it will persist for that meeting and recurring meetings in that series. You can always change the setting as needed. Sharing is based on the Calendar invitees.

Before you turn on “Take notes for me”, you can choose who the meeting notes should be sent to.

Google Drive Events API now available in Developer Public Preview

What’s changing

Google Drive is now integrated with the Workspace Events API, which allows third-party developers to create subscriptions on Drive items and receive notifications via Cloud Pub/Sub when those resources change. This offers developers a more reliable, featureful way of receiving events over the current files.watch and changes.watch methods that exist today. The following events are supported in the Developer Public Preview:

A file has been:

Added to a folder or shared drive.
Moved to a folder or shared drive.
Edited or a new revision is uploaded.
Trashed or removed from the trash.

An access proposal has been created or resolved on a file.

In March, we introduced the ability to create new files and folders using Gemini in the side panel of Google Drive to improve your organization and creation workflows.

Starting today, we’ve enhanced Gemini’s organizing capabilities in Drive by allowing you to use natural language to move selected files into the folder you choose. Simply open Gemini in the side panel of Drive and type something similar to the following prompts to get started organizing:

“Create a new folder in My Drive called Q2 forecast“
“Move the @Q1 wrap up file in my Q1 forecast folder to the @Q2 forecast folder”
“Create a new presentation in the Q2 forecast folder”

Without needing to switch between applications, you can use Gems in the side panel to:

Leverage a copywriting Gem to create posts and content tailored to your target audience, pre-loaded into the Gem.
Create a Gem that helps with sales interactions that is grounded on information for a specific company, prospect, or industry.
Leverage an "assistant gem" tailored to your job role to help provide more relevant summaries for you and content for internal communications.
Leverage a Gem designed to help pressure test content from a certain persona (e.x C-Suite or CEO) to help you create the most compelling message.

What’s changing

We’re pleased to announce the Licenses page in the AppSheet Admin Console. From the Licenses page, customers that purchase their AppSheet licenses through Workspace can now see the licenses purchased, assigned and used in a single consolidated view in the AppSheet Admin Console. Customers can also distinguish between licenses used in a month and licenses assigned.

This updated license reporting will show you every user of your licenses in the calendar month and the reason why licenses were consumed. You can also select the reason and you will be redirected to the app usage report highlighting the apps that caused a license to be used.

License Warnings

Starting this week, you may start to see warnings in the AppSheet Admin Console if you have exceeded the number of licenses purchased or have shared an app with a user with a lower license tier.

Note that regardless of the license type, all AppSheet licenses are billed as a subscription – billing is not usage based. In other words, your organization will never be charged for more licenses than you have agreed to purchase upfront, even if your usage exceeds your commitment. However, user access may be restricted after repeated months of unresolved license violations. It is now possible to limit the users of your pooled enterprise licenses to a group configured by an admin. Eligible users can be members from your verified domain(s) in a Google Group. When configured, this setting grants an enterprise license to every member of the group, including groups within the selected group. Users from your organization that are outside of the enterprise pooled group will not be allowed to access apps created by users with an enterprise license.

What’s changing

Currently, you can join client-side encrypted calls from a computer or mobile device. Starting today, you can join client-side encrypted calls directly from Google Meet hardware devices. Simply select the meeting from the in-room agenda on any hardware device – you’ll be prompted to authenticate from a personal device, such as your phone or laptop, which will grant the room access to this specific meeting.

Joining a client-side encrypted meeting from a hardware device

Google Meet always encrypts call media in transit and at rest, ensuring only meeting participants and Google's data center services can decrypt it. Client-side encryption adds an additional layer of privacy by encrypting all media that is encrypted directly by each participant's browser using keys accessible only to them, meaning Google's servers and other service providers cannot decrypt or access the call content. This gives users greater control and confidentiality over their meeting communications, and this specific update gives users another way to join client-side encrypted calls.

Additional details

Client-side encrypted calls can be joined from meeting rooms in the host's organization or in the organization of an invited participant. A room does not need to be specifically invited to the meeting — access to client-side encrypted calls is determined by the identity of the individual participant.

In order for end users to use client-side encryptions, admins must connect Google Workspace to an external identity provider and encryption key service (IdP+key service). Visit the Help Center to learn more about managing client-side encryption for your organization. Note: There is no additional configuration for room hardware if client-side encryption has already been configured.
Note: The KACLS server used for key management needs to support the delegate call. This call is used for authorizing a room to join a meeting on behalf of an authenticated user. Check with your KACLS vendor for details.

End users: You can join a client-side encrypted call from a room in the same way you would join a call using regular encryption. Follow the additional instructions displayed on the room unit to authenticate on your personal device. What’s changing

We’re introducing updates for the in-meeting chat experience for Google Meet live streams. Specifically, we’re adding the ability for viewers to send in-meeting chat messages, together with a host control for this functionality. The host management setting will be set to ALLOW viewers to send messages by default.

The ability to read in-meeting chat messages will now be controlled with a new host management control. This setting will be configured as ALLOW viewers to read messages by default as well.

Note that in order to allow viewers to send messages, reading messages must also be turned on.

These updates give meeting hosts more options to control over when and how live stream viewers can interact with in-meet chat messages.

Gemini Audit logs are now accessible through the Reporting API (Admin SDK). This allows admins to track user activity and interactions with Gemini in the Gemini app and Workspace apps, including:

The action performed by the user within a Workspace application, initiated or assisted by Gemini. For example: formalizing copy, generating a background, or summarizing a conversation.
The specific app where Gemini was used, for example Chat, Gmail, or Docs.
The specific features which were used, for example “help me write”, “remove image background” or “help me organize”.

Improving Google Meet hardware admin log events with more granular information

What’s changing

We’re improving the granularity of Google Meet hardware Admin log events. This upgrade offers a more comprehensive and precise audit trail, enabling you to better track and understand administrative actions related to your Google Meet hardware. This increased visibility will enhance your organization's security and facilitate more effective troubleshooting.

First, the “HANGOUTS DEVICE SETTING” event category is going away and will be replaced with a new event type: “GOOGLE MEET HARDWARE”. This does not apply for “Chromebox for meetings Device Setting Change”, which will move to “APPLICATION SETTING” in a follow-up launch.

The following changes made in the Google Meet hardware Admin console will be logged as an Admin log event under “GOOGLE MEET HARDWARE”:

Change lifecycle state on Meet device
Change OU membership of Meet device
Change properties on Meet device

This includes all information found in the Admin console under Devices > Google Meet Hardware > Devices > [Device name] > Device settings.

Perform bulk action on Meet devices
Perform command on Meet device

You can also view additional fields related to these new events, including:

Device ID
Resource ID(s) for Serial Number
Device type (will always be ‘meet’)
Action(s) (if applicable)
Setting name (if applicable)
And, if applicable, additional information, such as the meeting code and more.

Note that some fields are not visible in the log viewer by default; you can add additional fields using the “Manage columns” button.

In the coming weeks, you will be able to create, change, and delete application settings under “Application Settings”. All changes to settings found in the Admin console under Devices > Google Meet hardware > Settings will be audited here. We will share more details in the coming weeks.

Additional details

In the coming months, we are removing all events under the “HANGOUTS DEVICE SETTINGS” event type since the product name is obsolete, and the new events will include this information and even more data. Prior to their removal, you’ll still be able to filter for these events, however new activity will be only captured under the new “GOOGLE MEET HARDWARE” events.

What’s changing

We’re pleased to announce the ability to label a Google Group as “Locked” is now generally available. When a group is “locked”, it heavily restricts the ability to change group attributes, such as the group name & email address) and memberships.

This is helpful when admins need to sync their groups from an external source and want to prevent things from getting out of sync or want to restrict changes to sensitive groups in general.

The Group Details page in the Admin console shows a “Locked” label on the group, with the message “You can’t update this group - it might be managed by an external identity system.”

Why it’s important

If you use third-party tools, like Entra ID, to manage group synchronization, you may encounter inconsistencies when modifications are made to these groups, like adding or removing members, for example. To help address this, we’re introducing the option to “lock” a group, which will prevent modifications within Google Workspace and help maintain synchronization with the external source.

When a group is locked, only certain admins* can modify:

The group name, description, email, and alias(es)
Group labels
Memberships (adding or removing members) and member restrictions
Membership roles
Delete the group
Set up a new membership expiry

When a group is locked, access and content moderation settings are not affected, this includes:

Who can post
Who can view members
Who can contact members
Membership removals due to an existing membership expiry
Access or content moderation settings

*Super Admins, Group Admins, and Group Editors with a condition that includes “Locked Groups”

Additional details

By default, the changes listed above will be restricted from end users, including group owners and managers of a locked group. If you want to also restrict some admins from making these changes in the Admin Console or APIs, you can assign them the Group Editor role with a condition that excludes locked groups.

The ability to lock or unlock a group using the “Locked” label is available to Super Admins, Group Admins, or a custom role with the “Manage Locked Label” privilege. Lock a group using the “Locked” group label in the Admin Console, or the Cloud Identity Groups API.

Hardware Key Certificate Management for client-side encryption in Gmail

Gmail now allows users with hardware keys, such as PIV/CAC smartcards, to directly manage their digital signature and encryption certificates within Gmail settings. Prior to this update, admins needed to upload encryption keys for their users – now users can configure their own keys in Gmail, without needing an admin.

While Workspace encrypts data at rest and in transit by using secure-by-design cryptographic libraries, client-side encryption ensures that you have sole control over encryption keys and access to your data. Today, we announced Google Workspace support for FINRA compliance, continuing our commitment to meet the unique needs of heavily regulated industry. This includes the preservation of records in a non-rewritable, non-erasable (WORM) format, including support for SEC Rule 17a-4, SEC Rule 18a-6, and CFTC §1.31.

We’re pleased to announce FINRA-compliant solutions for Google Drive and Calendar (complementing our existing FINRA-compliant features for Gmail, Chat, and Meet) that address the critical supervisory, documentation, and surveillance requirements that underpin financial regulations:

For Google Drive, super admins can now use Google Workspace’s Data Export tool and AODocs to create a FINRA-compliant archive of their Google Drive data in a Google Cloud Storage (GCS) bucket. This data can be from specific organizational units (OUs), groups, or users, and filtered by Drive labels.

When you’re using the Data Export tool, select “FINRA” as your export type

For Calendar, super admins and admins with third-party archiving privileges can enable third-party archiving on an OU or group level and specify the email address to which Calendar archives should be sent. The following events will be captured:

On the monitored user’s calendar: all events and their updates, including events modified by another user with the appropriate access to the monitored user's calendar
On other calendars that the monitored user can make changes to: all actions performed by the monitored user

When these actions are performed, an email is sent to the journaling address specified by the admin with the event data, user who performed the action, and time stamp. providing access via SMTP for a third-party service provider to archive and produce the records on demand.

Third-party archiving can be enabled in the Admin console by going to Apps > Google Workspace > Settings for Calendar > Third-party Archiving Settings

Earlier today, we announced numerous updates across Google Workspace for Education that expand feature access and further our efforts to give education customers new and powerful ways of working, teaching and learning with Gemini.

Prior to today, Gemini in Classroom was only available to customers with a Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on. Starting this week, 18+ users across all Google Workspace for Education editions will now have access to more than 30 AI-powered tools. With the help of Gemini, educators can create content and resources through one central destination in Classroom. This update is accompanied by a new admin setting that controls whether certain users in a domain have access to Gemini in Classroom.

Now, educators can get help creating first drafts of resources, based on learning objectives, with new features like:

In addition, educators can now ask Gemini to refine (modify, transform, or supplement) generated content however they want in a chat-like experience for select features. They can also assign content generated with Gemini in Classroom – after reviewing and editing it – directly to assignments in classes with the “Add to class” button. They’ll be able to select a class, which will then create an assignment in the chosen class and attach the Drive file to it.

Educators will also be able to collaborate with Gemini using starter prompts for the Gemini app that help with common tasks like:

Brainstorming real world examples
Gamifying an activity
Generating differentiation strategies
Drafting an exemplar and non-exemplar
Creating Depth of Knowledge (DOK) questions

For example, if you select the "Gamifying an activity” card, a pre-set prompt will be loaded into the Gemini app to help get you started. Then, you can collaborate with Gemini to continue iterating before sharing or exporting the content.

Now, instead of just showing emails in chronological order based on keywords, Gmail search results will factor in elements like recency, most-clicked emails and frequent contacts. With this update, the emails you’re looking for are far more likely to be at the top of your search results — saving you valuable time and helping you find important information more easily. Boost productivity with scheduled actions in Gemini

You can now use scheduled actions in Gemini to create personalized updates, set reminders, or complete routine tasks in a chat or based on existing prompts. You can set these actions to your preferred frequency, be it a single reminder, or daily or weekly updates. Some ways you can use scheduled actions are:

Daily summaries of your calendar, to-do list, and unread emails for the day ahead.
Daily news briefings: deliver a concise, easy-to-digest summary of the day’s top news stories or a specific topic.
Competitive landscape monitoring: Monitor online news, press releases, social media content, and more based on a specific industry.
Weekly vocabulary builders: Receive a curated list of new vocabulary words, complete with definitions and example sentences, tailored to your learning level.

Google Drive log events now include search related information

We’re expanding Drive log events in the security investigation tool to include search events. This includes information on resources returned from a search, the query the user entered, and more. Admins can use this information to help assess whether there is normal search behavior or whether the behavior was anomalous and indicating potential data exfiltration. Introducing more granular controls for multi-party approvals for sensitive admin actions

What’s changing

Admins can now select which specific settings require multi-party approval.
Admins can choose separate multi-party approval settings for actions that are supported via API and the admin console, such as configuring single-sign on with a third-party identity provider.
Super admins can now delegate specific admins to approve MPA actions using the new multi-party approval role for admins.

You can configure multi-party approval on a per action basis by going to Security > Authentication > Multi-party approved settings in the Admin console

Why it’s important

Multi-party approval adds an extra layer of security for sensitive actions taken in the admin console by ensuring sensitive actions are not implemented in a silo and, more importantly, helps prevent unauthorized or accidental changes from being made.

We understand each customer has their own unique definition of security and what constitutes a high-risk action. By introducing more granular controls, we’re giving our customers the authority to decide what features should be subject to multi-party approvals and who has the authority to review these actions, in a way that works best for them, rather than the experience being “all or nothing”.

Additional details

To further strengthen security around sensitive actions, admins now require both 'reviewer' and 'requester' privileges for a given action to conduct its MPA review. This ensures that the approving admin possesses the direct authority to perform the action themselves, reinforcing the integrity of the approval process and preventing approvals from individuals with inadequate underlying permissions.

Getting started

Admins: This feature is available for eligible Workspace customers with two or more super admin accounts. Multi-party approval is OFF by default and can be turned on in the Admin console by going to Security > Multi-party approval settings. Visit the Help Center to learn more about multi-party approval for sensitive actions and pre-built admin roles.
End users: There is no end user impact or action required.

What’s changing

We’re pleased to introduce Google AI Ultra for Business, a new Workspace add-on that provides the highest access to AI features and models and access to next-generation AI tools, including:

The Gemini app with our most capable AI models, including higher usage limits to Gemini 2.5 Pro, Veo 3 (our latest video generation model), and Deep Research. Subscribers will also soon get access to Deep Think, an enhanced reasoning mode for highly-complex math and coding.
NotebookLM with higher usage limits and best model capabilities (coming later this year), as well as higher limits for Audio Overviews, notebooks, queries, and sources per notebook, along with custom notebook styles and response lengths.
Access to Gemini in Workspace: Users on Business or Enterprise Standard and Plus plans already have access to Gemini in Workspace apps, like Gmail, Docs, Sheets and more. Users on other qualifying Workspace plans can get access to most of these features by adding Google AI Ultra for Business.
Access to Flow, our AI filmmaking tool, built with and for creatives. Create cinematic scenes and stories, with access to Veo 3 and premium features, including the ability to reference images to create multiple clips in a story with consistency.
Access to Whisk, a new AI image and video generation tool that helps creatives quickly explore and visualize new ideas using both text and image prompts. With Whisk Animate you can turn images into 8-second videos using Veo 2.
Access to Project Mariner (currently US only): A research prototype to explore the future of streamlined human-agent interaction using natural language prompts. Assign AI agents to complete time-consuming tasks like research and data entry concurrently, so you can get more done while the agents work in the background.

Workspace users accessing Gemini in Workspace, Gemini app and NotebookLM with a Google AI Ultra for Business license access these services as a core service with enterprise-grade data protections subject to the Google Workspace Terms of Service or your offline Workspace agreement. Several of these tools, including Whisk, Flow, and Project Mariner are not covered by the Workspace Terms of Service and have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to read these terms for more details.

What’s changing

This week, as part of a shift in our offerings, we will begin removing references to the Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Business, AI Meetings & Messages, and AI Security add-ons from the Subscriptions page within the Admin console (Menu > Billing > Subscriptions). This change will apply to customers whose Workspace edition now includes all functionality previously available with these add-ons.

For example, if you had a Workspace Business Standard or Enterprise Standard subscription and a Gemini Business add-on, the add-on is no longer needed since the applicable AI features are now included in your Workspace subscription.

Important note: There will be no disruptions in service or changes in feature availability with this change. This change will have no effect on your bill.

Getting started

Admins: No action is needed – we will make these updates to the Subscriptions page automatically.
End users: There is no end user impact or action required.

Rollout pace

This update will begin taking effect starting June 25, 2025 and may take several weeks to rollout for affected customers.
