It was built on the site of an old mill on the River Cher, sometime before its first mention in writing in the 11th century. The Ch�teau d'Uss� is located in the commune of Rigny-Uss� in the Indre-et-Loire d�partement, in France. The stronghold at the edge of the Chinon forest overlooking the Indre Valley was first fortified in the eleventh century by the Norman seigneur of Uss�, Gueldin de Saumur, who surrounded the fort with a palisade on a high terrace. Bernstorff Palace

Bernstorff Palace, in Gentofte, Copenhagen, Denmark, was built in the middle of the 18th century for Foreign Minister Johann Hartwig Ernst, Count von Bernstorff. It remained in the possession of the Bernstorff family until 1812. In 1842 it was bought by Christian VIII. For many years it was used as a summer residence by Christian IX until his death in 1906. Downhill House

Downhill House was a mansion built in the 18th century for Frederick Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol at Downhill, Northern Ireland. Much of the building was destroyed by fire in 1851 before being rebuilt in the 1870s. It fell into disrepair after the Second World War. Himeji Castle

Himeji Castle is a hilltop Japanese castle complex located in Himeji in Hyōgo Prefecture. The castle is regarded as the finest surviving example of prototypical Japanese castle architecture, comprising a network of 83 buildings with advanced defensive systems from the feudal period. Berrington Hall

It is a neoclassical country house building which was designed by Henry Holland in 1778-81 for Thomas Harley. It has a somewhat austere exterior, but the interiors are subtle and delicate. Berrington Hall is home to the Elmar Digby furniture collection, paintings by, amongst others, Thomas Luny (1759�1837) and the Charles Paget Wade costume collection from Snowshill which can be viewed by appointment. The 'below stairs' areas and servants' quarters which are open to the public include a Victorian laundry and Georgian dairy. Baddesley Clinton Manor

The moated manor house of Baddesley Clinton, located just north of the historic town of Warwick in the English county of Warwickshire, was probably established sometime in the 13th century. When large areas of the Forest of Arden were cleared and eventually converted to farmland this large fortified manor house was probably also built.
