Music Video Games Are Dead

Games such as Rockband and Guitar Hero have been a hit at parties. People have continued to buy 200 dollars worth of plastic instruments for the last 5 years. However, recently the music video game industry have basically been destroyed. Guitar Hero was sold to some one for a small amount of 50 dollars. Rockband recently went out of business just last week as well. The reason for this? There are different theories but the one that seems to make sense is too many music video games. Every week they release new tracks or a new music game like beetles rockband or iphone guitar hero. People have finally grown sick of music video games and in my opinion its about time. Now, the question is whether it will come back in a few years or if it is officially dead. Comment on what you think will happen.

Game of The Year (so far)

Many good games have come out within the first half of 2010 and I have personally played about 3 games that stand a chance for game of the year for 2010.

God of war 3

God of war 3 is definitely a nomination for game of the year. It was about 8 to 10 hours long and pure gory action. The whole story and setting of the game is really what makes it great for me personally. It is also well reviewed and known for great action and really brutal fighting. This game was sadly missing multiplayer and it really lacks any replay ability. However I do applaud them and respect them for not tacking on a bad multiplayer experience. It was a great game but I feel this does not stack up with the other 2 games on the list.

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption took me about 10 to 12 hours to beat but for most it takes about 20 hours. After you finish the main story, The whole world is still really compelling (for most) and contains so much to do. This game is a lot like GTA 4 but it has a very unique environment that I really enjoyed. I finished the game and stopped after that because I usually find the side missions of many game to be a waste of time. The story was really great and it is well worth a play through. Then, the game offers a multiplayer experience. I played some of it and I personally did not like what it had to offer. It reminded me of GTA 4 multiplayer and I was never a fan of that. However, many people do enjoy the multiplayer so it is all personal preference. This game is definitely impressive ,but it still is not at the level of this last game.

Mario Galaxy 2

Nintendo has had a pretty low amount of good games throughout the last few years. One thing you can almost always trust to be a good game is a Nintendo first party game (zelda, mario, super smash, etc.). Mario Galaxy 2 came out and I really was not a fan of the first and I ended up seeing some of the best ratings I have ever seen. I decided to buy it and see what all the fuss was about and it was AMAZING. If you have a Wii, GET THIS GAME! The game took me about 8 to 12 hours and was superb througout (Keep in mind I have played a lot of Mario so I am pretty good). This was the first game that I literally could not put down. I beat the game in 2 days and tried to get all of the stars. With Red Dead, I had to force myself to play because as cool as it was, it was not the most fun. On the other hand, Galaxy 2 was a game I had to force myself off of. Another thing is the replay value. This game was so fun that I wanted to do all of the extra stars and every star was really fun to get. This game is one of the few that just knows how to make a game pure fun. Sure you can’t steal a horse of rob someone, but it doesn’t matter because the game is just FUN. It also is super creative and makes every level feel different. I have no idea how they keep everything fresh and how they come up with these ideas. It also keeps things fresh by having only 2 to 3 stars per planet. This game is definitely the first runner for game of the year and might even be one of the best games of all time. Please pick it up

This is a link to the video of how to do this glitch. This glitch took 7 years to figure out and it allows you to play as the Master Hand. Rumors have always floated around about different characters you could unlock by doing ridiculous things and finally one proves to be true. I remember reading about being Mr. Potato Head if you beat the game and then turned the system off on the last boss. Yes, I use to be that foolish

Konami and Ubisoft really surprised me with how much junk they had at their press conferences. If you saw them live, I am sorry. Also, I really have to point out the skittles cat from Microsoft Kinect. I was watching the Microsoft press conference live and was all pumped with gears of war 3 and many more hardcore games. All of a sudden, they show that kinectamals demo and I literally had to get up and walk out of the room. I could not even watch that epic fail. The Konami one is kind of entertaining though.

Today, many great games are being canceled due to money issues and many other problems.

Halo 4 was considered

Halo 4 was something Bungie considered before making Reach. They decided to not make it and I think that because they want to move on to new and bigger things. I applaud that because they don’t over use there franchise like some games (‘cough’ call of duty). Believe it or not, a Halo for the Nintendo DS was also being designed and I am not exactly sure why it was canceled. It really looks like they did a lot of work on it too.

One of my favorite companies by the name Free Radical totally went downhill and 2 great sequels were canceled. They had Star Wars Battlefront 3 in development as well as Timesplitters 4. Many of the employees were picked up by another game company but the projects may have been dropped. It sucks to see such great franchises go down because of economic problems.

Nintendo finally getting hardcore

Nintendo has not been releasing many hardcore games in the last few years. They pretty much gave every hardcore nintendo fan the finger for the last 3 years or so. Finally, they have decided to support their biggest fans by announcing many classic games at E3. They had everything from Zelda to Donkey Kong and even had older classics like Kirby and Kid Icarus.

Miyamoto is just an amazing game creator and also a very smart one. I read an interview today and he was talking about also getting out Pikmin 3 quickly. He also said something that I loved hearing. He said that it has been 10 years since he has made a new character and he wants to make a new legendary icon. It is exciting to hear that Miyamoto is sick of relying on all of his classic games and really wants to make something new. He also mentioned something about swimming in his new game. hmm…..

This is only a comparison of the multiplayer aspect of both games.

vehicles: in both games take no skill or smarts. overpowered!

COD 4 prestige metals

ranking system: in cod 4 it does not represent how good a player is but how much someone plays. I’m level 17 and i’m still better than a lot of 4th prestige players. but in halo u have to win matches to level up. It also prevents camping because if u camp then your teammates are going 3 vs. 4 and they will keep getting killed because your not helping them.

Halo map The Pit

maps: cod has more places to hide which adds to the camping. which is mindless and takes no skill. plus u don’t have to watch ur back because of claymores. halo u have less places to hide but if ur smart enough u can still be really sneaky (sneaky beaver).halo also supports aggression because less places to hide and being smart and aggressive takes more skill then hiding in bushes.

sniping: in cod u can shoot someone anywhere for the one shot kill and theres a lot of auto aim.in halo u have to hit them in the forehead to get a one shot kill and less auto aim (just a little)

auto aim: call of duty 4 i can walk into a building and where my aim reticule goes is where the enemy is. i can also sit somewhere and tap the aim button until my aiming reticule locks onto someone for the easy kill.

skillful aim: cod 4 is a one shot kill but in halo it takes usually 4 to 5 shots to kill someone and its much tougher to aim at someone for 5 shots instead of one. u can also tell its easier to aim because nothing impressive happens but in halo i could get a skilled triple kill with no scopes.

individual tactics: cod 4 supports spray and pray which takes no skill. this is when u fire out ur whole clip into the air praying for a kill. it also supports hiding which in my opinion is really easy and takes no skill. in halo 3 it supports a strafe which is moving around making ur self hard to be hit. which takes skill because ur evading bullets while still aiming at ur opponent for 5 shots.

halo 3 basic grenade

nades: in halo 3 nades are what seperate good players from great players. u have to know how they work and when to use them. chucking nades across the map where they spawn is not a good way to use them. in cod 4 people throw them up in the air and get free kills. trust me i tried it and killed 3 people in the beginning of a match. in halo the best players also know how to use them to spawn people in places to thier advantage.

spawns: in halo 3 controlling the spawn system is big. u might have to sneak into a place just to spawn ur team closer the enemies flag or even use nades to made the other team spawn away for the hill. in cod 4 not many people do anything close to that level of smarts.

Teamwork

teamwork: in cod 4 u can do a lot of things on ur own because of 1 shot kills and call outs don’t matter to much. in halo 3 it takes many shots to kill people so if a team of 4 is shooting at one person they will die instantly. if ur not with ur team then 2 or more people will shoot at u and kill u fast. its also important to call things out like” theres a sniper over here”. or” they have rockets”

smarts: in cod 4 u shoot what u see. in halo 3 u must think before u shoot because if u just shoot a guy and chase him down a hall, he might have his teammate waiting on the other side with rockets. sometime in halo 3 its just better to leave someone alive.

adapting to game: i have many friends who play cod 4 they all try halo and they suck really bad. their kill to death ratio is usualy between -10 and -20. i play halo and went to cod 4 and after a day of playing i was just as good as anyone else and same goes for my brother. in my first cod 5 match i got a 15 kill spree with my first life. its either im really good at shooters or cod 4 is just easier to be good at.

side note: i was talking about mlg for halo 3 nothing else. so no radars. by the way if u think halo is easy u have not played a ranked player above level 40.

Final Verdict: Halo 3 takes way more skill and smarts than cod 4. If you have a different opinion, post it and also use the poll.

Technology Prediction: 3D technology is not ready yet

How many goofy pairs of glasses do you really want to keep track of?

People believe that 3D technology is finally ready to spread across the world, THEY ARE WRONG! I have 3 reasons for believing 3D technology is not there yet.

The first issue is health related and it involves dizziness. I have problems watching 3D for more than an hour or so. I start to feel like I have been on the spinning tea cups at Disneyland about 10 times after watching for too long. This issue prevents people like me from watching 3d in the first place. People shouldn’t have these kinds of issues and this really needs to be solved.

Secondly, 3D tv still requires 3d glasses aka some of the goofiest glasses in existence. I should not have to wear glasses while watching tv or playing video games. It will also be an annoyance to keep track of the glasses, much like a tv remote. Glasses are just another thing to have to keep track of and frankly, it’s an annoyance. Also, HOW WILL IT WORK AT SOCIAL GATHERINGS??? Imagine inviting over a few friends but only having enough glasses for half of them. (sarcasm) Doesn’t that just sound fun? How about losing a a pair and not being able to watch tv as a family. This is a big annoying issue in itself.

Lastly, look at the 3DS (or the girls if you prefer).

That definitely doesn’t show it off very well but it is 3D TECHNOLOGY WITHOUT ANY GLASSES (welcome to 2010). I have read some articles from people that have actually used it and they said it was simply amazing. The only issue is that the screen can’t be shown in 3D from every angle. This is why it is a small screen that can be adjusted. However, 3D TECHNOLOGY IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT 3D GLASSES but still presents some issues. This is why I will wait and I recommend you wait a few years until 3D technology reaches its peak. Don’t fall for Sony’s trap!!! Don’t go out and purchase a 3D tv right now. The technology can be better.
