But on an optimistic note, i highly doubt i’ll regret using disqus. It seems promising and i haven’t heard much if any negative feedback.

After a day of using it, commenting on my blog seemed to have increased; i didn’t expect a change of commenting system to increase commenting on my blog that fast.  So far disqus is treating me well let’s just  hope this continues

In essence it’s not really a “problem” but you get my point; I’m able to say this because i expereinced it first hand.  Sometimes i’m so engaged on Friend Feed (especially), Twitter, and all the other social services that i neglect writing my own stuff; I’m always reading and comment, liking and so on.  It always perplexes me how people like Corvida of She Geeks, Louis Gray and Scoble ( Especially Scoble, your like an Internet God) manage to create so much content, while still being active around the place. I’d really love to know; it’s brilliant really.

Just keeping up on friendfeed is a problem to me, but guys like Scoble manage to share tons of stuff on Google Reader, Be Active on friendfeed, on twitter, and still be able to write content for his blog; that’s new easy feat.  Louis Gray now has twins and being a new Dad isn’t a hi and bye task; but with that he still manages to be active on the web; and i’m pretty SURE he gives his children all the attention they need.  Corvida manages to be real active around the web and still manages to produce some quality content.

I’d really like to know your secret guys; give me some tips here, i’m DYING to know.

I have a few questions that i need answered before i even consider adapting it:

• What if Disqus should suddenly die? All my comments will vanish right? There doesn’t seem to be any option available to import them back into my blog.

• How Can people comment on my blog when disqus goes down; i really take my blog comments seriously.

There were others but i can’t seem to pull them from memory right now.  I will be sure to add them when i remember.  But for now can someone please explain those two to me.

As of recently Mavado’s career has taking of; and it’s flying high indeed. Rolling stone even named him the the “Best New Reggae”. Act i guess?

But to elaborate on what i really wanted to point out is the fact that our local media  and people who criticize dance hall artistes like Mavado for there violent lyrics are full of shit, yes! i said it. Why is it that they bash these artistes constantly about there lyrics, but when they decide to make a change and sing uplifting songs no one commends/highlights them for it? Mavado has a relatively new song called “We Shall Overcome“; it speaks nothing of violence, it does not bash women, gays or anybody of the sort it simply talks about the hardships we(Jamaicans) shall come out of no matter the odds. It should be getting crazy airplay, but i haven’t heard it much.  Give these artistes a reason to sing more songs like that.

If he sings it and it gets no attention then he’s going back to his old “Hardcore Gangster” lyrics…so that you guys can give him some publicity, because that’s all it is.  Outline him for the right reason not the wrong one.  Honestly if i was an artist singing “Gangster: lyrics” and i was getting extreme bashing for it and i decided to change and sing some clean songs and it wasn’t being publiczed and making any money then by god i’d switch back over to my “gangster” lyrics that were actually making me money. Regardless of what anyone says.  Whatever it takes to acquire money, eh?

Should it be translated?

No, certainly not. $60 Million could be better spent elsewhere. Also, there is no standard in which patois should or should not be written.

The Matter of Literacy

It is unfortunate, but a good amount of Jamaicans can barely read or not able to read at all…how would they go about reading patois?.  Sure! it’s easy to communicate with it, but writing and reading it is totally a different kettle of fish.  Use the money to fulfill more meaningful resolves.  I’m sure we can find more “creative” ways to express our beautiful language that is loved by many…translating the bible to patwa is not one of them.

I also suggest we move away from calling it “patois”.  The meaning of patois is “uneducated or provincial speech”,can’t be associating or dialect with such a word now can we?.  Call it Jamlish (Not a word…yet) or something along that line, that would certainly be a step forward.

Translating the bible to “patois” will not mircaciously gain it new readership.  What will happen is that a few curious folks (like myself) will skeem through this “patois bible” just for the sake of curiosity; it would then be put aside and not be read…just like the english one.

Is it a matter of dignity? Can’t they parade around in corolla’s? what’s wrong with corolla’s?. Does driving around in expensive and unnecessary SUV’s help anyone?  Does it magically fix roads or something, does it do something i don’t know about? if so tell me.

I was at the tax office recently, waiting on my turn to do my business, out of no where i see this Prado with the nice big yellow license plate pull up right in front of me. I *sighed* and it seemed as if i was burning up inside…it’s sad. If you guys insist on driving around in these gas guzzlers, use your own money and by them...better yet kill yourselves.
