It started with a tweet from fellow Illinoisan, Twitterer, blogger and facial hair enthusiast Matt Wood...

"Knock knock." "Who's there?" "Choo choo fart." "Choo choo fart who?" "Soap." My son is a Dadaist comedian.

Then came the expanded story on Wood's blog...

"For his part, Carter, my oldest, laughs at just about anything as long as you attach the word “poopy” to it, and he clearly gets the kid-specific humor in the TV shows and movies he watches. But the other day, some popsicle stick or candy wrapper he was looking at had a joke printed on it, and he asked me to tell him more..."

A fun read for someone like myself who gets freaked out by the weirdness of kids. I can't imagine having a toddler in the house and not being constantly suspicious of club-drug use, dementia or hilariouly undiagnosed early onset Alzheimers.

So I was bored and made this video, illustrating Carter's sweet comedy stylings...

Free Music - Bootstock

“Bootstock” is a concept mix created, mixed and produced by DJ Zebra in June '09, for the Woodstock Festival 40th anniversary. The original songs and sounds come from the “Woodstock” album and movie, and some studio recordings.

I'm a lover of quality mash-ups but the mash-up "concept albums" usually tend to fall flat (I'm talking to you, Ziggy Remixed), not working well with the constraints they've set for themselves. Bootstock really hits it on the head, though.

There's a broad range of techniques used. Tracks like Wooden Ships On The Moon use CSN&Y and The Police almost exclusively. Other songs like See Me, Feel Me take The Who's vocals and mix in a whole range of sounds to create completely new sounds.

Webcam Choreography

This music video was shot for Sour's 'Hibi no Neiro' (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album 'Water Flavor EP'. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.

Almost Baby

For the last year and a half we've been waiting to adopt. There have been a few interested birht-moms but nothing really went past the short-list phase.

Last week, we got a call. We're the first pick, they want to meet us and she's due within the next week or two. Chaos ensued within the sushi household. Last Wednesday we met with the mother and everyrhing was perfect.

Monday we got the call that she was having contractions and was in the hospital and having contractions. We rushed there and camped out in the waiting room for about 7 hours. We got word that nothing much was going on in the birthin' dept. so we headed home to freak out some more until we crashed. Just before we went to bed, we got the call - a 10.5 lb. healthy baby girl.

Ten fingers, ten toes, no horns, no tail, etc.

This morning (Tuesday), we headed back and finally got to go up and see her. I could write volumes about what a perfect little thing she is but you can pretty much see for yourself below...

If all goes according to plan, we take her home tomorrow as foster parents and may get full custody as soon as Friday. Things could still go wrong but everything is looking good at this point. Until then, I'll reserve my use of gratuitous exclamation points.

If yesterday's Transformerevelation^tm didn't get you excited about Michael Bay's new cinematic masterpiece, check out Roger Ebert's review...

"...a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine. Such are the meager joys. If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination."
