Damn, it’s so hot in here!

In the preceding segment of NBC’s The Office, “Here Comes Treble,” we found out that Andy’s parents are broke. At the start of this episode, we quickly learn that Andy’s father spent their fortune and fled to South America with a younger woman, and his brother Walt Jr, played by singer/songwriter Josh Grobin, has been drinking and is supposedly in rehab. This leaves Andy in charge of the family, and damage control. Also, we previously saw Oscar and Senator Lipton kissing in the parking lot. Oscar was aware that he was being filmed, and begins this episode discussing his love for the Senator. This, unfortunately, turns sour as Kevin overhears everything he says. The story of episode six extends these two stories further as Andy and Oscar are placed in enormous and unpredictable predicaments.

With no one else available, Andy is given the task of selling the remainder of his family’s assets in order to help balance his mother’s finances and living expenses. Upon studying what his father did not have the chance of splurging away, Andy happens upon his family’s boat, which he cherished as a child. The price of the boat settles most of the necessary finances, but since it was a crucial part of Andy’s past he refuses, at first, to adhere to selling it. When no other solution is found, Andy agrees to sell the boat, but decides to first go for one final ride, and finally command it, something his father had always disapproved of.

Andy reaches the dock with Erin and finds the boat being loaded for departure. The boat is being sold to a buyer in the Bahamas, and the movers refuse to allow it to be stirred until it departs for its destination. This angers Andy into deciding to sail the boat to the Bahamas himself, but before he leaves he finds Walt Jr. sleeping in a cabin. Then Andy and his brother, together, make plans on sailing to the Bahamas to deliver the boat, while containing Walt’s alcohol addiction. Andy takes fine command of the entire situation, yet he forgets about Erin. She inspired the whole ordeal but Andy fails to invite her on this expedition of his, and leaves her behind in Scranton. When Erin returns back to the office Pete invites her out with some friends, which is another clue that he may force Erin and Andy apart.

Oscar becomes frightened that Kevin may not be able to control himself with this new secret. He monitors Kevin and does a fine job keeping him from slipping out the truth. This battle is up and down until the Senator pops into the office to visit Angela, but really to be closer to Oscar. Surprisingly, Oscar nervously shudders at a pat on the shoulder from the Senator, and Kevin almost spills his guts in response to this but, lucky for Oscar, Kevin possesses the ability to forget. Oscar gets away with this one, but this does not seem like the end of the issue.

Dwight has a subplot of his own involving Pam, Jim, Nellie, and few other employees. Due to scheduling issues with a local radio show they weren’t able to have a radio interview as planned. Since Dwight really looked forward to the interview he was going to give they decide to make him believe the interview is still going on by calling him and pretending to be from the radio show. The interview is phenomenal and possesses stains of Jim’s prank style, but the employees do not take the opportunity to berate Dwight. Instead they congratulate Dwight for giving a great interview, and help build his confidence.

One of 2013′s most anticipated films, World War Z is a zombie apocalypse film based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Max Brooks. The trailer for World War Z was recently released and – we must say – it looks AWESOME!

• Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a U.N. employee who scours the world, interviewing survivors of the zombie apocalypse, referred to as World War Z.
• Mireille Enos as Karin, Lane’s wife and mother of their two children.
• James Badge Dale as Captain Speke, an American soldier who “tries to warn the government that the threat of zombies is real.”

Plot: As a zombie pandemic traverses the globe, United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt) travels the world trying to find a way to stop the pandemic that is defeating armies and collapsing governments as they try to prevent social collapse.

Where are the twinkies?

Keeping with tradition, the office of Dunder Mifflin held its annual Halloween Party. Andy, who comes dressed as 1980s singer George Michael, invites the Cornell Acapella group, “Here Comes Treble”, to come sing for the employees at this party.

This backfires for Andy, as HCT has been in contact with his fellow Acapella group member from college, “Broccoli Rob”, played by Stephen Colbert (Colbert Report). At first, Broccoli Rob claims that his nickname is “The Boner Champ”. This offends Andy because this was his nickname in college. He’s upset that he is being shunned out of history, and discredited, though the nickname is nothing to be proud of.

Andy then gets on the phone with Broccoli Rob, convincing him to tell the truth, while Erin tells the Acappela group to add a song to their playlist. She learned that Andy’s favorite song to sing in college was “Faith” by George Michael, but her plan to make Andy feel better backfires. As the group begins singing George Michael’s song in the break that the owner of the prescription is crazy. He asks Nellie, who is dressed like Toby, and together they search for the culprit. Nellie tries to contain Dwight’s antics, but when Dwight traps Meridith in a net for picking up the pill, Nellie finally admits that the pill is her own. She explains room, they turn on the television where Broccoli Rob appears, streaming through a webcam. Andy becomes infuriated at seeing this, and at hearing Broccoli Rob sing his signature solo song.

Meanwhile, Jim has a meeting with some friends regarding their business venture. As we saw in earlier episodes, Jim is planning on starting a sports marketing business with some friends. At lunch, Jim is told they are done with investing, but he still offers $10,000, which becomes an issue with Pam. He has been keeping her away from much decision making lately, and this is a problem that could continue to be explored further in later episodes.

Dwight finds a tiny, yellow, pill called Dumatril on the floor, and suspects a mad-man in the office. The pill is for anxiety and depression, which makes Dwight feel how the pill helps her deal with stress and anxiety, and that it could help him as well.

In the end Andy is trying to get over everything with Broccoli Rob. He decides to make a donation to Cornell to improve his credibility and reputation. He calls up his mother to ask her to write a check, but learns that his parents are broke. This is an important element, which is extended and elaborated on more in the following episode.

The rest of the cast and characters are great as always. Kevin enjoys the “Acapaca” music, Meridith is dressed as Black Widow from The Avengers, and in the final moments the camera catches Oscar and the Senator going at it outside of the building. With the camera having caught this, it shouldn’t be long before Angela finds out, or this subplot reaches its climax.

Jim and Dwight getting along!?!? Could it be? WOW!

In episode 4 of the final season of NBC’s The Office, Dwight has the office slightly concerned after testing the building for electromagnetic fields. Jim takes the opportunity to mischievously convince Dwight to close the building down to renovate for health purposes.

He successfully tricks Dwight into fearing the possibility of electromagnetic field, with the aim of getting the entire office – including his wife, Pam – a day off. Unfortunately, nobody anticipates what Dwight plans as a substitute space for the employees. Instead of them getting the week off from work, Dwight provides a tour bus to be their impromptu office until the repairs to the building are completed.

The tour bus is left parked in the office building’s parking lot, and the space becomes too limited for conformity. Jim suggests the bus travel away somewhere for a change in scenery. Dwight doesn’t adhere easily to this, especially because it is always Jim who is trying to fool, or best him, in some game or prank war. Andy, though, and the rest of the office, agrees with Jim. Jim wins – leaving Dwight wounded and discouraged, as they set out for “Laverne’s Pies Tires Fixed Also.”

Dwight later becomes upset that Jim is always battling with him so he stops driving the bus and goes onto the roof to be alone. Jim follows, and the two of them have a discussion which inspires Dwight. He tells Dwight that the office needs him to transport them to “Laverne’s Pies Tires Fixed Also,” and that he is the only one available for the job. This leaves them miles away from the Pies, racing in a tour bus driven by a mad beet farmer. It’s even more ridiculous than it sounds.

Nellie wishes to adopt a child, and asks Andy to sign an employer recommendation letter for her application to adopt. She confines in Erin for help with the letter, since Erin had grown up as an orphan. Nellie’s situation appeals to Erin so much because she had never been adopted and is now emotional regarding the matter. She helps Nellie write the recommendation letter, but when Andy reads it he belittles Nellie, and criticizes the letter.

Throughout this season, Andy’s character has changed greatly. He is now rude and ignorant, but in a goofy way. It is almost as if they took stories and writings for Steve Carrell (Michael Scott), which they didn’t have time to film, and adjusted Andy’s character in order to put them to use. His grudge with Nellie from last season is not a small affair, but he seems to be taking advantage of his position as Manager. Andy does, however, find redemption for his indecency towards Nellie. He sees Erin crying after having offensively declined to sign the recommendation letter, which influences him to later give Nellie the recommendation she desires.

This episode was of significance by uniting Jim and Dwight, and Nellie and Andy. It subtly created some connection and understanding between each feuding group. It also portrays Jim’s problem-solving skills, and how pleasing his wife is what drives him more than anything else.

As always, the rest of the cast is still funny, but of no importance to the plot. We learn that Kevin can solve tough math problems in his head if the units happen to be pies and, on the road, the bus picks up a hitchhiker that happens to be Creed playing hooky from work.

The new season remains adventurous and fun, with the necessary taste of drama, and wonder of what is to come. The next episode, with Stephen Colbert, should be quite interesting. He will play a college friend of Andy’s who is nicknamed “Broccoli Rob.” Check it out on NBC, on Thursday nights at 9/8 C, to catch this episode, and the remaining episodes of this award-winning comedy series unfold.

That’s a lot of suits!

With today’s release of the first official trailer for Iron Man 3, we get a serious look at the newest chapter in the Marvel book and trust me it does not disappoint. There are things blowing up left and right (including Tony‘s cliff-side house) Iron Man suits being destroyed and a very evil Ben Kingsley playing the role of Mandarin, Iron Man’s archenemy. This movie looks to be darker than the previous two films, with Iron man facing extreme challenges against his greatest enemy yet, not to mention Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) getting tossed around like a rag doll on several occasions. All major characters from the last film return in this one, including Gywneth Paltrow as Pepper Pots and Don Cheadle as Col. James Rhodes (aka War Machine.) Slated for a May 3rd, 2013 release date, fans of the iron clad hero will have to wait just a little bit longer to see how this epic battle will turn out.

Could THIS guy be related to FLOTUS?

Still, the feud continues between Andy and Nellie, as they battle to embarrass one another in their work lives. Nellie tricks Andy into believing that he is related to Michelle Obama. This boosts Andy’s ego, however the office views this discovery as insight that Andy’s family may have been slave owners. Andy doesn’t believe this at first, but gags around the office regarding this news makes Andy anxious and concerned for his ties to the first lady.

After planting her seed of deceit, Nelly is out of the office with Pam for a majority of the episode. This becomes an adventure for Pam as she realizes that although Nellie is more than slightly crazy, her energy is uplifting, and she is entertaining and “fun.” Pam briefly opens up her emotions to Nellie, and tells her how she is worried that Jim is keeping a secret. Nellie blows this out of proportion and assumes that Jim is lying to Pam and being unfaithful in their marriage. This is the first person to get close with Nellie, as she is disliked for having taken Andy’s job as manager in the last season of the series. Now, it appears a door has been opened for new possibilities, since nobody in the office has yet spoken openly, or been friends with, Nellie.

Andy begins to panic over the news that he may have ancestors who had kept slaves. This frustrates Darryl, who is unsatisfied with his job at Dunder Mifflin. He walks out on a distressed Andy, and goes to the warehouse to get away. It seems he’s had enough of Andy, the office, and his life, and is on the verge of exploding, lest he finds a job more suitable for himself. Jim notices Darryl storm out of the office and, concerned for his friend, follows after him. Jim, who is feeling quite similarly to Darryl, proposes Darryl come with him to Philadelphia to start a sports marketing business. Darryl is thrilled to hear this news but is quickly discouraged when he learns that Jim hasn’t yet discussed this adjustment with his wife, Pam.

When Pam returns to the office with Nellie, she meets with Jim who tells her about his plan to move to Philadelphia to begin a new career. Much to his surprise she supports his decision, but Pam is slightly disturbed that Jim couldn’t openly discuss this information with her beforehand. Perhaps this tension may continue later, and Pam could begin to feel as if Jim cares more for his work than for her.

As for the rest of the crew, Clark and Pete notice that Andy loves enthusiasm, which leaves them giving Andy a round of applause for most of his actions and words. This is very comical as they begin to clap over the worst of both. Dwight is busy teaching Erin the Dothraki language of the horselords from HBO’s series “Game of Thrones”, and the others do well in antagonizing Andy for being a descendent of slave owners. This episode was another giant push forward, as the story of Dunder Mifflin is slowly shifting towards its finale, while continually being just as funny and witty as its every been.

Cloud Atlas has managed to attract an all-star cast, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Susan Surandon, and Hugh Grant. Being that it is an adaptation of the critically-acclaimed novel of the same name by British author David Mitchell, it could prove to be a fantastic movie experience.

The novel was said to have caught the attention of the directors (Lana Wachowski, Andy Wachowski, and Tom Tykwer) because it contains portions of every genre – something quite uncommon in the film industry.

Curious, I recently picked up a copy of the novel and began reading it. Almost halfway through, it contains a massive plot, with beautiful language and witty philosophies. If the film is anything like the novel, it could prove an instant classic.

Unfortunately, Cloud Atlas may prove too confusing of an adaptation to follow. There are a vast array of characters, all of them in different places of the world, at different times of history/existence. Additionally, the story is split into different parts, potentially confusing audiences that haven’t read the book yet.

Cloud Atlas follows the lives of different characters and their different struggles. The film expresses how humans are interconnected in our past, present, and future. It tells the story of how we impact one another with our daily decisions.

Typical Cloud Atlas stories include: the goodness of one man’s soul transpires through time, as does the evils of another, and both affect the lives of others in worlds ahead and far away. The film  is not a story that can be easily interpreted. However, as history shows us, complex films have great potential to become classics.

Some have joked about how two brothers directed the Matrix Trilogy, but two siblings helmed Cloud Atlas. This comes after Larry (now Lana) had a sex-change after finishing up Speed Racer in 2008. Her first appearance as a woman came as she was first interviewed for Cloud Atlas. My advice: refrain from judgment and criticism, and give this film, and the artists, a well-deserved chance at commercial success.

A-Rod is simply lost at the plate right now.

With the Yankees leading the Orioles two games to one in the ALDS, thanks to a couple of game saving and potentially series saving home runs by Raul Ibanez, Joe Girardi finally has dropped Alex Rodriguez out of the three hole in the lineup. A-Rod has been abysmal at the plate this series, going just 1-12 against a less than stellar Oriole rotation and Girardi had no choice but to make a move. Included in those 12 plate appearances, are seven strikeouts, meaning Rodriguez is not only producing at the plate, but not even contributing productive outs to help the team win.

Historically, A-Rod has not been the best in the playoffs, except for his 2009 campaign where he mashed six homers and batted .365 in a championship year for the Yankees. Although Alex can potentially bust out at any time, he is an automatic out in the middle of the order and is killing any rally the Yankees try to put together.

The Yankees are a whole different team when A-Rod is himself, and if they are going to advance further in the playoffs they will need Rodriguez to start hitting the way that he is capable of. Or they can hope for some more Ibanez magic. Right now, I’d bank on the latter.

Did Justin Bieber naked photos appear on the web?

A picture of a (very) naked Justin Bieber was released online today to much fanfare and commotion. The naked Bieber pics come as Justin Bieber reported his laptop to be stolen, full of “personal footage.” You bet it was personal!

Very quickly after being released, the naked Justin Bieber photos strangely disappeared from the web almost as fast as they were posted.

So far, the Biebs himself hasn’t commented on the Justin Bieber nude photos. Could this truly be REAL? Wow, good job Justin Bieber.

Things have sucked for Justin Bieber recently. Yeah, he’s still making millions annually, but he recently threw up on stage and kept on singing. Surely his many female fans (who hope dearly for a Justin Bieber sex tape – but as of yet have had no luck) must be pretty turned off.

Maybe these Justin Bieber naked photos will change all that.

Who’s gonna throw the first punch?

After watching the season premiere of The Office’s final season, we sat down to watch the next episode, Roy’s Wedding. We thought the season premiere wasn’t so bad – even as other media outlets called it the “worst season of The Office so far.” Ouch…

In episode 2 of The Office‘s Season 9, the big couple themselves (Jim & Pam) attends Roy Anderson’s wedding (Pam’s ex-fiancé). Roy’s financial situation, and state of mind, is another push for Jim. He sees how Roy has become successful, and this motivates Jim to not settle for the cubicle life in Scranton. Jim is becoming more ambitious, but feels that Pam will not understand the road he hopes for, and his aspirations. He hides his business plans from her, which later turns into Pam questioning Jim’s faithfulness to her.

Nellie bounces back from Andy’s revenge, with mischievous antics of her own. She battles a game of wits with Dwight, which leads to her tricking Dwight to chop off her hand, by contract and law. This gives them time to connect, and their chemistry hints that there may be (or should be) some alliance formed between the two of them.

Take it easy, Dwight, our workers’ comp runs dry in a few months…

Clark (new Dwight”) tries to seduce Erin. This backfires, as Pete (“new Jim”) deflects Clark’s attempt. He seems like he has more of a conscience than Clark, which stays true to their given nicknames. Also, Pete manages to find some alone time with Erin, relating to Jim’s attraction to Pam (who was the receptionist) when we first were introduced to The Office.

Although not significant to plot, the rest of the cast succeeds at entertaining, while each of them have particularly significant moments. The Office is remarkably hysterical while remaining authentic and original, and is one of the best shows on television. With surprises always around the corner, and in Creed’s mind, it is a definite must watch, for both, fans of the show and newcomers.
