some words are barbed......like the wire
some words just want me make me want to retire
listen to old music and smoke by the fire
limping along like a car with a flat tyre
let me hear you take it higher

i'm buying oranges while jessica is interviewing clint eastwood in my dreams
after falling asleep watching bloody awful 0 - 0 football teams

my roots are still buried deep in the ground
though my foliage is sometimes too high and windswept to be found

there are too many second rate hero's and not enough robin hoods
too many showy overblown cactus flowers and not enough buds

the long and winding road leads us where?
hopefully to someone who can care
i can define freedom and pretend it's true
but i really know that it's just shades of blue

where will we go today?
probably the same place we went yesterday.

Better Than I Used To Be

My smile is wider.
My eyes are brighter.
My thoughts are better.
I'm feeling as if nothing can touch me.
No I'm not the best I can be,
But I'm better than I used to be.

My smile is real.
My laugh is louder.
Cherish the moments you have,
When given the chance.
The ones that you think have no impact,
Have the most meaning.
The ones that hurt you,
Just make you stronger.
The ones that make you laugh,
Are worth a zillion words.
No I'm not the best I can be,
But I'm better than I used to be.

Now a days,
making me laugh,
Doesn't take much.
To make me smile,
Maybe takes a second.
The main thought on my mind is,

Poetic Duet (Phoebe and Rondo)

Our world lay between us in a cruel twisting fate
To your script I fall asleep and to my words you wake
(a hemisphere twixt him and her by satellite they spoon;
Every verse traverses earth and passes by the moon)

From our cosmic connection was created a dream
More shadow than substance, and as a union, extreme
But our minds intertwined finding ways through our art
By exploring we discovered, the truth of the heart

Loving you in bytes we bond with cyber link
And in between the writes there is lots of time to think
Smitten by what you’ve written I savor your favour
Cerebrally sexy with a melancholy flavour

Such a surreal experience approaching divine
A bitter sweet togetherness as our two souls combine
Imaginations growing through our rhythm and our rhyme
Transcending two realities beyond a world online

Sending linguistic kisses with caress in each address
Open for the world to see the sentiment confessed
And though these beams of feelings are just airwaves from above
From New Zealand to California “we wrap the earth in love”

The highways of the Internet are travelled everyday
The journeys of a million minds connect along the way
We’ve found that place in time and space that only we can “see”
Though worlds apart your poet’s heart has found its way to me.

Wandering

we were wandering around one day
not going out of our way to meet each other
then one day you stumbled into me
just when I was getting ready to leave
I loved the sexy way you said hi
we hit it off right away
like we have always known each other
love and lust grew with in us
our hearts and lives belong to others
suppose we went one step further
shared one night of sheer passion
then maybe sneek another night in
or maybe we wouldnt even like each other after
the fantasy was greater than reality

Let this be the last kiss before you go
Then I shall awake and my sorrow show
And spend the day with thoughts of you
Then sleep again and dream anew

Are you really there, do you exist?
That perfect love, the sweetest kiss
Seems I love a face I do not know
At least in slumber love can grow

Then in the night you come to me
And whisper sweet words of poetry
I kiss your lips and hold you close
It’s where we banish wicked ghosts

Then again with heavy eyes I wake
And start the yearning of the day
I wonder if you dream the same?
Shall I meet you on the astral plane?

On a Proposed Trip South

They tell me on the morrow I must leave
This winter eyrie for a southern flight
And truth to tell I tremble with delight
At thought of such unheralded reprieve.

E'er have I known December in a weave
Of blanched crystal, when, thrice one short night
Packed full with magic, and O blissful sight!
N'er May so warmly doth for April grieve.

To in a breath's space wish the winter through
And lo, to see it fading! Where, oh, where
Is caract could endow this princely boon?

Yet I have found it and shall shortly view
The lush high grasses, shortly see in air
Gay birds and hear the bees make heavy droon.

As I lie down to sleep at night before I close my eyes
I look out of my window at the dark and distant skies
And in the silence of the night I turn my thoughts to you
And wonder if somewhere out there you’re thinking of me too

Within the confines of my mind I know my lover’s face
I “see” the colour of his eyes, by "touch" his lips I trace
I “feel” his body over me, his breath upon my skin
And through our heat, with each heart beat, I willingly give in

Time is of no essence here, the shadows are our friend
For in the kingdom of the mind there is no start, no end
All there is are heightened senses leading to somewhere
Knowing at the journey’s end are dreams beyond compare

Sighing deep, I turn to sleep and gently close my eyes
Softly on the winds of night my lonely spirit flies
Taking me to that somewhere, with dreams beyond compare
Where in my mind, I know I’ll find, him waiting for me there

How Love Grows

Fragile is a lovers heart
Don’t toss it to and fro
Leave love where you found it
Your seeds within will grow.

Let it mature and blossom
Enjoy it’s fragrance sweet
It will take time, you will find
It grows with each heartbeat.

Be gentle when you touch it
remove the weeds of doubt
Kiss its roots with tenderness
and keep unfaithful out.

Keep it near the warmth of you
No matter what you’re told
The soil is your affection
This is how it grows.

Circus Day

come one come all
spend the day with us
Mr. Charles and I
meet us at the circus

we can share cotton candy
maybe a funnel cake
nauchos with extra cheese
salted big pretzel

watch the elephants perform
hear the powerful lions roar
see the silly clowns
and the daring trapeeze

then we can eat some more
corndogs, hotdogs, sausagedogs
munch on delicious candied apples
crunch on extra buttered popcorn

so come share our day at the circus

That One Friend

The way to a friend’s house is never too far
Do you know your friends and who they are
Is there one who stands out from the rest
That one friend you can easily call your best

He, or she, is there when the rest turn away
Even on the most depressing and darkest day
And when that one friend comes to you
You know your friendship is truly true

That one friend knows something is wrong
Even while you’re saying you’re fine all along
And somehow you know, no matter what
Your friendship will last through any life rut

And when that friend needs help in return
You’re there to help with honest concern
No matter how busy you both may be
You’re there for each other – it is destiny
