More than 40 thousand people visit it every Sunday, hoping to find an amazing antique object to add to their collection, bedroom, living room or garden, for the cheapest price. What I obviously like the most are the many opportunities that you can find on antique stuff. Pieces that go from furniture to clocks, hats, gentleman sticks, paints, books, magazines, sculptures and almost everything you can imagine. - Look the photos below - <p /> The fair is also one of the oldest and has gained its popularity within the years. Apart of the antique stuff, you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, clothes (not the best ones), and many other things that you're possibly not thinking about. I even saw chickens, rabbits and goats for sale?...Come on! This is not India.. <p /> The fair starts in Tristan Narvaja street, in the corner with Colonia street, at the city center. For you to know and locate it better, this is one block from the law university, public library and arts university (which has been just refurbished) in 18 de Julio Avenue. Plenty of tourists visit it every Sunday. Actually, when I got the bus, there were 4 americans and 3 brazilians that stopped at the fair too.<p /> I had a great time and took some amazing photos. There are so many interesting stuff that I even thought about creating a website for antiques. The turkish chain "Bursa Kebap" landed in Montevideo, just infront of the Solis theatre, in the Old City area.<br />I've never tasted turkish food before, and kebaps were a nice first experience. I really loved the meat mixed with different spicy sauces and vegetables. The bread also is pretty special, different to ours (uruguayan bread). <p /> Have you tasted turkish food before? An iranian friend has told me once that sunsets over here are as beautiful as in Africa. I've never been in Africa but I trust on her opinion as an experienced traveler. Uruguayans have a nice tradition. In some beaches of the atlantic coast it is common to give tribute to the sunset by clapping hands. </p><p>Spring and summer season are the best ones to appreciate the amazing sunsets happening on this tiny spot of the southamerican continent. I particularly recommend Punta Colorada, Cabo Polonio and Solis as some of the best places to enjoy this natural spectacle. The Montevideo bay is also special. </p><p>You should seriously consider adding this to your "must-see" traveling list when around Uruguay. </p><p>Anyways, where have you seen the best sunsets of your life? Bad for them...</p> <p>Last Thursday, we choose The Hangover 2. The film is practically the same format than the previous, but you can really enjoy Tahiland landscapes and the so bad times and situations that this guys pass through.</p> <p>Definitely a must if you had a tough day at work and want to have some fun!</p> <p>Have you already seen this film? So great! http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/GourmandsUruguay/~3/xaf9x78opQg/piano-concert-at-the-city-center-so-great http://gourmandsuruguay.com/piano-concert-at-the-city-center-so-great <p> <p>Wednesday night I had the pleasure to assist to a great piano concert by Raquel Boldorini, at the Nelly Goitino Auditorium.</p> <p>The concert was breath taking, so great that combined to the antique arquitecture and decoration of the auditorium, it took me to the 1950s. </p> <p>Montevideo has a very very strong cultural life, mainly supported and sponsored by the government. You can choose from ballet, piano concerts, opera and many more options that take place during working days and weekends. </p> <p>Raquel is an uruguayan pianist with an important international career, having studied and performed with well known artist in France, Italy, the US and Brasil as the most celebrated performances she made and won great awards. </p> <p>The critics in Paris and Washington pointed her<em> "as a name to be remembered"</em>.</p> <p>You can follow the cultural agenda on the <a href="http://www.sodre.gub.uy">Sodre website</a>! Tickets for all shows can be bought on any Red Pagos. You can find one on each neighbourhood. The place was crowded, tipical at this time of the year..it's freezing on the street!</p> <p>I have to say that I might be one of the worst bowling players in the history of the game. My score had plenty of 0000s but at the end I manage to make some good shots.</p> <p>The environment is good. This decó arquitecture building was built in the decade of the 30's, a very special year in the history of Uruguay that celebrates other events with worldwide significance like the Fifa World Cup, the 1st one, which finally Uruguay won against Argentina. </p><p>The Yacht Club building is an amazing place for sports, events and leisure. You can become a member to enjoy the best quality sailing sports in the city, but the club also counts with tennis courts and gym. <br />The building also works as a great events venue, which is usually used by its members for private parties and corporative events. </p><p>To add even more options, the building counts with a great restaurant, which in my opinion is one of the best of the city, for its location, service and atmosphere. The restaurant is open for the public and its very recommendable to go for lunch and enjoy the view from the sofas at the balcony. </p><p>If restaurants is about, the Yacht Club restaurant is a must. Supporting the below 6 degrees cold is not a problem, vodka and others' alcohol high graduation drinks are a solution but not the only one. But what if I invite you to go to the Punta del Este Jazz Festival on a countryside ranch? This could be out of schedule but is an event you need to be part of. <p /> Surrounded by an amazing atmosphere on a lovely ranch named "Finca El Sosiego", located in Punta Ballena, the festival usually takes place between the 5 and 10 of January every year. International and local artists are part of the festival every evening.
