Barr has joined Oregon Sea Grant to coordinate a National Sea Grant-funded regional research plan for the California Current marine ecosystem. Barr will work with Washington Sea Grant, University of Southern California Sea Grant, and California Sea Grant along with coastal zone management programs of the three states to develop, design, and implement a research and information plan for the coastal Washington, Oregon and California region. Much of what I expect to do, said Barr, will involve engaging stake holders in the planning process to ensure that their needs are addressed in the final regional research plan.” Barr is a recent graduate of the Marine Resource Management Masters program at Oregon State University (OSU). During her graduate studies, she studied community-based conservation and management on the island nation of Palau.
