            <title>The Government Grant Portal serving Missouri Small Minority Business Housing Grants</title>
            <description>    *   A J.E. Dunn Construction Co. plan to mentor, teach and contract with 10 minority- and women-owned subcontractors for the next two years, a plan that Diversity Director Marvin Carolina said he&apos;d been working on for about a year.
    * A Turner Construction Co. commitment to give priority to subcontractors that hire minorities and women on privately financed projects. Such preferences are required in most projects financed by tax dollars but usually are voluntary on privately financed work.
    * Project Prepare, a job-preparation program of the AFL-CIO and the Full Employment Council that provides training in math, reading, safety and sensitivity. Graduates will be enrolled in an apprenticeship of their choice. Participants include the Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City and the Builders&apos; Association serving Missouri and Kansas. A $200,000 Missouri government grant will finance the first classes in the spring.
