The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded the grant to Lutheran Social Services of South Central Pennsylvania (LSS) to develop a program of all-inclusive care to serve county residents. The new program, called LIFE (Living Independence For the Elderly) Lutheran Services, could be in operation by 2008 and will provide a day center where participants have access to a full range of medical attention and also provide in-home visits to support independence. The program emphasizes holistic care and quality of life. Must live at home In a release issued by LSS, the typical participant is described as about 80 years of age and in need of assistance with three daily tasks.
