If you’re a mother, you will always think of giving what’s best for
your family. A better future for your growing kids will require more
monetary support for their basic needs at home and in school. Having
the desire to fulfill this wish for them is sometimes not enough for
the dream to materialize. You will need to have the right
qualifications, not just as a mother, but as a worker in order to earn
more for your family’s financial stability and prosperity.

For a lot of mothers, finding a job may prove to be a little harder than most people realize
it, especially during these times when economic recession has affected
the employment industry. Many workers have indeed been laid-off, most
of them having no other option but to get another occupation with lower
income. Mothers who would want to join the employment race may suddenly
feel incompetent due to tough competition. If you are one of these
women who are being frustrated by not being able to go back to the
workforce but is admittedly in need of a higher paying job, you may
start thinking about adding to your credentials by getting a higher
education.

Whether you’ve been a stay-at-home mom that has decided to rejoin the workforce after raising your children, or you’ve been at a job for some time and have either been laid off or are looking to increase your income, going back to school can greatly increase your options and your expected salary.

We all know that going back to school will require more money that a
struggling mother may not have in excess. That is why it is really good
news that the government has supported its women by giving scholarship
grants for this specific reason. Now, mothers who wish to go back to
school to better themselves can do so now with fewer worries. With your
financial situation being taken-cared of by these scholarship grants,
you can now focus on finishing school while taking care of your family.

Once you get yourself the necessary qualifications to get a better shot
at a more promising career in the future, your dream of having a better
life for your children is now within reach. All you need to do is start
planning a more challenging life juggling your children, studying and
working, if you still need a job to support your kids. It may not be as
easy as going to college when we were younger, but being a mother has
trained women that a challenge is more of an inspiration than an
aggravation.

Ready to see what government grants are available for you? Fill out the form below to receive further updates…

Business grants could be one of the most important financial tools that nearly all businesses would need. They may not be the single most significant support businesses could have, but they can get definitely help you start the business right.

Business grants refer to a particular amount of money that is being granted by the government to a particular business. Some people may have thought of it as a “free financial support” from the government, but they are not. That is because there is an equivalent effort, time, and sweat entailed when requesting for grants.

Moreover, not all businesses can avail of business grants. Even if the government provides business grants to support businesses, certain qualifications are required prior to the approval of the business grants.

Primarily, your business should be a not-for-profit organization or it should include an expansion of a new knowledge or technology. If your business does not fall under these categories, you are not qualified for a business grant.

However, there are some instances that the government may award business grants if your business can prove that it can develop a new technology for economic advancement or if you can meet the requirements. You need to accomplish all the prerequisites at an agreed period to get the business grant. If in case you failed to meet the deadline, your request for a business grant will not be approved.

Secondly, your business should have a business plan. If you think you can qualify for business grants, you should consider having a business plan as well.

Getting the first stage of the application is just the start of your journey. You need to create a business plan in order to guarantee the government that you really intend to develop your business and help the economy. In this way, you can show them that your business aims to develop a knowledge that will boost the country’s economy.

What most unsuccessful businesses failed to realize is that business plans are extremely important when establishing a business. Statistical reports show that more than 85% of unsuccessful businesses do not have business plans.

The most common problem is that businesses only create business plans to reach their primary goal, that is, to increase their finances. What they do not know is that businesses need business plans to create an effective line of attack. Plus, these also serve as a gauge of the present achievement.

So if you want to obtain a business grant, you must create a business plan. In this way, the government can tell if you really have a strong marketing strategy and if you intend to boost the economy as much as you want to increase your finances.

Here are some guides on how to create a well written, technically and analytically superb business plan.

1. Keep it short and precise

Too much information may only bring more harm than good. When it comes to business plans, investors or the government itself would want a precise and brief explanation of your business strategy. Elaborating them more with extra words may only bore them.

Then again, do not create a business plan that lacks the essential information that the government needs in order to give you your business grant. Too little information will also put your business on the bad side.

The key point here is to provide the most important facts and state them in a straight and clear-cut manner.

2. Provide proofs

Statistical data and documentations do not just put credible facts on your business plan but can also facilitate your request for business grants. The government would most likely want to see solid information attested by mentioning the primary source of data or through citations or documentation.

It would be even better if you can provide graphical representation of all information in order to provide a more realistic and visual effect.

3. Keep it complete

Never pass a business plan that lacks one of the important parts. See to it that you have all the necessary portions intact before submitting them. Your business plan should always have the proper “pagination,” contact information, and contents and cover page.

4. Keep it real

If you are really aiming for a business grant, do not make it as an excuse to create falsified information. Keep in mind that the government or any other investor will eventually find it out.

Hence, it is best to be reasonable, sincere, realistic, and consistent with your data.

Indeed, business plans may not be the single most important tool to achieve business grants. However, having a well-written business plan can put you on top of the other businesses.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Although, grants may seem like a free lunch, technically they are not. After receiving a grant from a government agency, the grantee is expected to meet the obligations required of him, which are submitting progress reports on the business or the charity-organization to which the grant was first used.

The grantee decides how much money the agency will lend him – as long as it meet s the criteria of the Government agency. Money is non-taxable and interest fee. None of these programs require the grantee to submit a credit check, security deposits, collateral or co-signers. You can apply even if you are bankrupt or have a negative credit history. Anybody can do so, as long as you are over 18, a taxpayer and a US citizen.

These grants are classified into two kinds. The first kind is the general purpose or operating support grants. This occurs when the government agency bestows a grant to your organization that will be used to operate and support the general expenses in running your establishment. An operating grant is when the lender supports the organizations’ goal and invests in them to make the most out of the money that they lend you.

Second kind is program development or program support grants. This is when the government supports not only the procedures but also the processes in the progress of the campaign. These include the planned activities targeted to get positive feedback for its culmination.

If you would like to know the common kinds of project grants, here are some of them:

1.) Planning grants
A good deal of money and time is spent figuring on a major new program for your company. Research whatever is needed, consult with the people involved, look on other activities you can do before you write a proposal for a planning grant.

2.) Start-up grants
Also known as seed money, start-up grants assists an organization during its first couple of years. It is like a push for the business venture to do well without worrying about financial resources. These grants are often for more than a year and it decreases as each year pass. This is because the funder expects the company to slow get into its feet as time goes by.

3.) Facilities and equipment grants
Also known as “brick and mortar” or capital grants, facilities and equipment grants assists the company to buy the physical asset for the establishment. These could be the building, the computers or the vehicle, for example. In the proposal of the applicant, he must defend his proposal for the acquisition he is requesting for. How will this help the company and be of service to his clients? Funders also require the applicants to make a report on their progress because they double check whether the companies are able to maintain these resources over time.

4.) Endowment grants
Non-profit charities have money set aside that they use to invest and earn interest in the future. The principal sum remains untouched because they only spend the interest. These are endowment grants and are rampant with charities like hospitals and colleges. The fund-raising efforts for the benefit of hospitals and colleges start from these kind of grants. But the government makes sure that the interest of the principal sum or the endowment remains the same so that there is no need for the endowment to meet the annual operating costs.

5.) Program related investments or PRIs
The IRS not only allow grants to foundations, they also permit them to make loans through the program related investments to non-profit organizations. The PRIs that have been approved are projects that met the requirements to be eligible for grant support. Usually, they are met at a low or sometimes zero interest. But because it is a loan, PRIs must be paid back by the organization. Often times, PRIs are the ones involved in the building project of charities.

Then there are also the grants for the individual person. An example of which is the popular scholarship grant. The difference between a scholarship grant to a scholarship loan is that there is no need for the student to pay for the former, as opposed to for the latter.

A student is obligated to pay back a scholarship loan, especially after he graduates. But a student’s only obligation when it comes to a scholarship grant is to meet the required grades expected of him and to also submit progress reports of his academic excellence. Look at it as the government funding for his education.

It is the government’s responsibility to provide us with what we need. As law-abiding citizens, we are required to do what is expected of us. That is the same with the grant. As soon as you received a grant from a government body, make sure that their investment on you will not be put into waste.

The US federal government has truly succeeded in expanding its policies and workings in the land grant system. The most popular beneficiaries are schools which are supported to educate more people with high quality education that used to be solely exclusive priviliges given to top universities such as Harvard. But scant information is given on how to obtain a land grant from the US federal government.

Private monopoly does not leave much room for the masses. Thus, the system of land grants was initiated by the US federal government to diffuse knowledge and make it more publicly available.

US government land grants are hard to come by except when you have a noble cause. Probably the best way to obtain US government land grants is by creating a school which is aligned with the objectives of the Department of Agriculture, which poses the greatest influence on individuals or movements vying for land-grant status. The industrial fields need more of the boost than their other counterparts.

One of the good and often-approved proposals for schools which are eligible for US land grant approval are those which are unique and caters to a need which has not been seen or capitalized by other institutions. Some examples include the land-grant colleges created for the black community or the Hispanics. THe boom of black community land grants originated in the 1890s.

The trend of land grant colleges are those which are technical and agricultural in nature. It was due to the Morrill Act enacted in 1890 which aims to promulgate more avenues for the technical and agricultural sector. While the US is currently focused and giving much budget on technological advancements, the more basic and equally vital fields such as agriculture needs enough sustenance to keep it thriving.

One must also check from within his or her area of interest if how many land grants have been approved. There is approximately one land grant in each State. And requesting for another land grant costs much money on the part of the government and merits much scrutiny and evaluation.

In obtaining a US land grant, one must be very organized and must know what the whole proposal covers. A good grant proposal will work wonders. The US government receives millions of proposals each year, and a badly written one ends up deliberated off. To have connections with a knowhow on US land grant system is also a plus to an aspiring US land grant recipient.

The government of the United States of America offers various consumer protection grants to almost everyone who’s interested. If you want to apply for one, all you have to do is look through their programs and select the one you want.

However, you yourself can make a proposal for a new project, one that hasn’t been offered before. It requires meticulous planning, a lot of research and perseverance.

Here are some tips on how to make a project proposal for a consumer protection grant:

1. Ask around

Let’s say you have the basic idea of what you want to do. The first thing to do above all else is to check with your local government if such project has not been offered before, or if the same idea has been proposed already. This is important since you could end up wasting a lot of effort if in the end; your proposal is rejected because there has been a precedent.

2. Dig up information

Just like in writing any other kind of proposal, you have to look for a lot of pertinent information. You need to familiarize yourself with the in and outs of the idea, look out for loopholes and weak spots.

Ask for the basic forms that you need to fill or to produce. Every Federal agency has their own standards on such things so ask them for information before starting to write your proposal.

3. Attend a workshop

If you haven’t had any experience in writing a grant proposal, you could try to attend a grant proposal writing workshop. Not only do you get an idea of how to go about writing your proposal, you can also meet people who’d be an asset to you.

4. Search for support

Anything is infinitely easier if you’ve got the support of people who care. It’s the same in proposal writing. You need to ask for the support of a lot of people, individuals, communities and agencies.

Consumer protections proposals are quite tricky to make. There are a lot of legal issues to consider and therefore, you’d need a team of people experienced on such legal matters. The support of your community or local government agency will aid you in a big way.

5. Consider the source of funds

No project will ever be complete without funding. Projects will cost money and this cannot be provided by a single person alone. So you need to seek people or groups who will be willing to provide financial support to the projects you will generate.

Two years ago one of your closest friends had to leave school to give birth and consequently take care of her baby. The child’s father did not offer support of any kind to your friend and has not been in touch with her ever since he found out she was pregnant. It was a difficult time for your friend and you did your best to help her get through it.

After two years, your friend is managing to take control of her life again, and has decided that she wants to go back to school. The only thing holding her back is the age-old issue of money. She won’t have enough to pay for tuition while at the same time pay for the basic needs of her baby. She was an excellent student and has an impressive transcript of grades, and you realize that her potential will be wasted if she fails to complete her education because she lacks the funds to do so.

Being a single parent has never been as common an occurrence before as it is today. Finally the world understands and respects the difficulties associated with raising a family on one’s own. As such, help is available for those single parents who need a little assistance, particularly when it comes to helping them with their education. The US government in particular offers grants for single parents, and gives particular importance to female single parents.

Many female single parents are denied scholarship grants and are instead encouraged to get loans to pay for school fees and living expenses. Unfortunately, this makes them prone to drowning in debt that they will have much difficulty to pay back.

With government grants, unlike loans, need not be paid back. Grants that amount from $500 to $50,000 are available to anyone who is 18 years old and above. In the US, over 20 million individuals get government grants annually, 6 million of which are grants for college tuition.

To be able to get a single female parent US government grant, you must first research the various programs offered by the US government, and find the ones that will most likely understand your situation, thereby giving you a better chance of getting your grant request approved. You must then contact the people behind the program and ask them the requirements needed to apply for the grant.

Almost everything you need to apply for government grants are on the internet, so all it takes is a bit of patience and a click of the mouse to help you get started.

This is the not so happy story of your life: everyday, you travel a long way to get to work, taking at least an hour in the process. After an exhausting eight-hour day, you have at least another hour to spend riding the subway, after which you have to take a bus, and finally walk a short distance. By the time you get home, you are exhausted and unable to spend quality time with your family. Sometimes, you come home so late that the rest of your family is already asleep. And while you are the last to arrive at the house, you are the first to leave it in the morning the very next day, giving you no time to spend or even see and talk to your children.

None of us wishes to live a life like this, but because of tough circumstances, we are forced to accept such a situation to be able to provide for our loved ones. You’d be interested to know, however, that there is a way to at least make your working conditions a little better by cutting down on the difficulties of your commute to and from your place of work. This can be done by getting a US government transportation grant.

There are currently at least sixty federal grants, loans, and government grants for the Department of Transportation. There are different grants for different needs – senior transportation grants, for instance, are given to senior citizens who are allowed to reimburse the money they spend on transportation fares for medical, social and shopping trips. Other transportation grants ease problems similar to the one mentioned above, by teaming up with job access and reverse commute or JARC providers, who serve as a service for people to and from their places of work, particularly for rural residents who have jobs in the city.

Grants, as well as cooperative agreements, are awarded by most of the Department of Transportation’s operating administrations. Most of these administrations have posted information about their grants on their websites, so if you have a grant proposal, it is best to visit their websites to know more about their grants and the requirements needed when submitting a proposal.

You can also use websites that specifically cater to providing lists and references on available grants. Through these sites, you can search for grant opportunities based on specific search options. It will take a lot of patience, but with enough diligence, you’ll be sure to find a transportation grant that works for you.

The United States of America has been known to the nations of the World as a country fond of helping other countries in the form of assistance and grants.

The government has specific agencies that provide grants to countries worldwide. Why America is providing this kind of support to other countries? The reasons are summed up in twofold:
?	Advance the foreign policy interests of America in promoting democracy and open free markets; and,
?	At the same time, wanting to improve the lives of the people in the developing countries.

This foreign assistance given by the U.S. government is made possible through the law signed by the former U.S. President John F. Kennedy in 1961 known as the Foreign Assistance Act and this law too made way for the creation of agencies that provided assistance.

Often, the U.S. government supports projects that advance their foreign policy goals like:

?	Agriculture and trade;
?	Economic growth;
?	Global health;
?	Humanitarian Assistance;
?	Conflict prevention; and,
?	Democracy.

Usually, beneficiaries of grants from the U.S. government are lumped up into regions. Countries from:

?	Latin America and the Caribbean;
?	Europe and Eurasia;
?	Asia and the Near East; and,
?	Sub-Saharan Africa.

These grants are made available to country beneficiaries through the partnerships made by these grant-making agencies to American companies in the whole of America, close to 3,500 in number and to private voluntary organizations that are mostly based in U.S. closing to over 300 in number. These partnerships are with universities, international agencies, indigenous organizations, American businesses, other governments and of course the many U.S. departments and agencies.

If you are interested to have information on the programs and activities of countries assisted by the U.S. government, statistical data and detailed information is made available in government websites. You just have to know what agencies can provide you with this data. Or, usually, agencies that offer this kind of information is given through a published documentation of these projects.

Other types of assistance provided by the government are as follows:

?	Training and scholarships;
?	Small enterprise loans;
?	Credit guarantees;
?	Enterprise funds;
?	Budget support;
?	Infrastructure construction;
?	Food aid and disaster relief; and,
?	Technical assistance and capacity building.

What the U.S. government offers to other countries is the opportunity to explore their capacities or stand up from a tragedy without the worry of where to get the funds to move forward. Countries are not left alone to their misery but instead they have someone to walk with them and see a bright future ahead after a storm.

You’ve scoured the internet for hours, looking for an effective and reliable source to give you some information on grants and loans offered by the United States government. You have stumbled upon dozens of references and web sites, but none of them have enough information about what these grants and loans are exactly, and how they are obtained.

Your tiresome searching, that up to now has still been fruitless and unsuccessful, ends here. Read on to learn some useful information on US government grants and loans.

What are US government grants and loans?

Let’s begin with loans. Government loans are like ordinary loans, and cater to a wide variety of needs, from business startup loans, disaster relief, housing, veteran, agriculture to student loans. The US government has set up a site specifically about the loans that its many departments offer. The site can be found at www.govloans.gov. In this site you will find agencies that offer different kinds of loans. You will also be able to search through loans that are currently available, so that you may find the one that best suits your financial needs.

A federal grant, on the other hand, is a form of financial assistance given by a federal agency to a beneficiary, whether it is a private citizen or an organization, for the purpose of carrying out public support or stimulation authorized by the law of the United States.

Every year, over 1,000 federal grants are offered by 26 federal agencies. These grants fall under different categories, such as:
Agriculture
Energy
Arts
Regional Development
Education
Environmental Quality
Food and Nutrition
Health
Community Development
Humanities
Business and Commerce
Housing
Disaster Prevention and Relief
Information and Statistics
Law, Justice, as well as Legal Services
Natural Resources
Science and Technology
Employment, Labor and Training
Social Services and Income Security
Transportation

Grants can also be categorized into two, namely general purpose, or operating support grants, and program development, or project support grants. General purpose grants can be used on the general expenses on operations by the recipient, while project support grants can be used on a specific set of related activities. Such grants require that a project set explicit or specific objectives and a predetermined cost. A project support grant, being much more specific than the general purpose grant, is restricted to be used on the predetermined project.

The United States government has set up a website specifically about the grants that its various agencies offer. You can visit the site at www.grants.gov.

Food and nutrition is one of the major crises that the world faces today. In Africa and other third world countries, children die of starvation and malnutrition every day.

If you’d like to help but you don’t have the resources for it, the U.S. government is offering grants for projects that will aid the country in its fight against starvation and malnutrition.

These grants are offered for the purpose of proliferating information and knowledge by conducting seminars and training.
