Amazing Birds Air Show In SCOTLAND

In the Scottish town of Gretna Green, from late autumn to early spring you can watch the amazing bird "air show".

During the annual migration to wintering in Scotland, European starlings fly (sturnus vulgaris), driven by the frost from their homes in Russia and Scandinavia. Soaring, flocks of these birds, like great black clouds in the sky, forming bizarre shapes.

The annual migration of starlings recalls that winter is on its way: Each year the birds arrive here from colder places, and remain until spring. Their wintering habitat is located in the southern part of the British Isles, but birds are especially numerous in the small Scottish town of Gretna Green, where he made these pictures.

During the winter, starlings every day suit "air dances": approximately an hour before sunset with a flock of all neighborhoods of the hordes of birds.During the winter every day at sunset a lot of starlings, "they go to dance" in the sky, executing collective pirouettes.

More than a million birds, flying along and across the great flocks, ignorant people can be easily mistaken for fast looming thundercloud.

Scientists are not sure exactly how and why starlings make these celestial dance. Even complex algorithmic models can not explain acrobatic sketches of starlings, which change their direction for the one hundredth milliseconds to avoid a collision, but at the same time and predation.

Despite this display of power, the number of starlings in the UK in recent years has fallen considerably, possibly due to reduction of nesting sites. But the birds still live in rural pastures of Great Britain, going to sleep after "an evening of ballet."

Collective bird pirouette so impressive that in Gretna Green, attracts tourists to watch the evening "air show".Many come here to witness the flying huge group of several thousand individuals, while they simultaneously repeated twists, parry and land on the ground, scattering over a large area.

Synchronously moving in the air, the birds create the amazing and sometimes amusing shapes.

for demonstrating that people make better decisions about some kinds of things -- but worse decisions about other kinds of things‚ when they have
a strong urge to urinate.

The Peace Prize went to Arturas Zuokas for demonstrating that the problem of illegally parked luxury cars can be solved by running them over with an armoured tank.

The Physics Prize went to Philippe Perrin, Cyril Perrot, Dominique

Biologist Parker says two-headed snakes have been documented to live as long as 20 years in captivity.

With two brains giving commands to a single body, he says the snake, which isn’t venomous, would have a difficult time surviving in the wild.

Milk snakes are said by some to suck milk from cows’ udders, but this is a myth. They do however favour living in barns, as they like cool dark environments, which may be the source of the misconception.

Their diet consists of insects, lizards, birds and small mammals.

Damien Hirst is a British artist, not so common. His works usually deal withdeath, and has always been surrounded by controversy. What we did recently was to use a skull into a work of art to platinum and diamond-encrusted 8601 costing the overwhelming amount of 99 million dollars!. He says he was inspired by an Aztec skull that he saw in his childhood.
Hirst called his work For the love of God, I do not know why so called, but no doubt, is what comes to mind when I return to read the price he put on his work. This book is intended to be, according to Hirst, 0„3¡ãthe final victory over death, as can be achieved in terms of decoration, because our society loves money and wealth. Surely, this world is very materialistic. What things could I do with all that money? Let your opinions.

A large survey of Antarctic life was conducted back in year 2008 by scientist all over the world. New Zealand¡¯s National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research played a key role in this survey. They and other researchers collected 30,000 sea creatures¡ªmany new to science¡ªduring a 35-day census in Antarctic waters in February and March. The large-scale survey was part of the International Polar Year and Census of Antarctic Marine Life programs, which study the diversity of Antarctic marine life. Thiruvananthpuram: The Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala could well be the richest in the country as unofficial estimates on Saturday, the sixth day of preparing an inventory of treasures in its six chambers, suggested the value of its gold, diamond and other precious metals at close to Rs 1 lakh crore.

The inventory of the temple here, maintained by the erstwhile royal family of Travancore, is being made by a seven-member Supreme Court-appointed panel.

The stock-taking process was ordered by the Supreme Court following a petition by advocate T.P. Sundararajan over mismanagement of the temple affairs.

On Monday, ahead of entering the temple chambers for the first time, the committee chairman, retired Kerala High Court judge M.N. Krishnan, said he hoped to finish the entire process by the end of the week.

The temple has a total of six chambers, named A to F by the committee. With chamber B yet to be opened and chamber A's accounting ending Saturday, and two more chambers left unopened yet, it is expected that the inventory process may continue for a few more days.

The inventory of a chamber opened on Friday could only be completed on Saturday.

The committee, which includes a gemmologist, stumbled upon a nearly four-foot-tall statue of Lord Vishnu in gold and studded with emeralds.

Other precious items that were accounted for on Saturday included several golden statues, almost all weighing two kg each.

Among other things are a gold necklace as long as 15 feet, and crowns studded with emeralds, rubies and diamonds.

The chamber is situated around 20 feet under the ground. The committee conducted the examination using artificial lights. Cylinders were used to pump in oxygen to the chamber to guard against breathing problems for committee members.

The Kerala government has maintained high security at the temple after the exercise started.

City police commissioner Manoj Abraham said additional 80 personnel of the special armed police (SAP) will be posted at the temple.

Historian and veteran journalist M. Gopalakrishnan said that according to the legend the gold got accumulated in the temple because in the olden days people used to offer gold to seek pardon from the royal family.

The main temple deity, Padmanabhaswamy, is a form of Hindu god Vishnu in Anananthasayanam posture or in eternal sleep of 'yognidra'.

The foundation of the present entrance gateway was laid in 1566 and the temple has a 100-foot, seven-tier tower besides a corridor with 365 and one-quarter sculptured granite stone pillars with elaborate carvings.

An American architect has broken his own Guinness World Record by building the largest house of free-standing playing cards.

Bryan Berg used 218,792 cards to create a replica of the Venetian Macau, which is on display in its namesake luxury hotel and casino.

Berg took 44 days and 4,051 decks of cards to complete his model inside the Venetian, which sits at the heart of Macau's Cotai Strip, the China-ruled city's version of Las Vegas' neon alley.

World's largest Cave Hang Son Doong of Vietnam

The World is again held spellbound by one of the world¡¯s greatest discoveries-this time a gigantic cave discovered amidst the jungles of the Vietnam. The British exploration team from British Cave Research Association expedition claims this to be the largest cave passage of the world discovered so far.

The Hang Son Doong of Vietnam commonly called as the mammoth cavern has a jungle inside it .The cave is so big that a skyscraper could fit into it and still the expedition team has not been able to discover the end of the passage. The cave measures is about 80mts (262mts) wide thought most of the passage, at some places it is even 140 mts (460 ft) wide.

The previously record holding largest cave of Malaysia ,The Deer cave, is 300 ft has a 300 feet wide passage but it¡¯s about a mile long where as the former is  astonishingly 2.8 mile long with still the end away from human sight. The British team claims that they have been able to gauge only 2.8 miles through their expedition and they were jammed later by the seasonal flood water¡¯s of the river that flow through it.

The explores have used high tech & dead accurate laser techniques for the measurement of the cave. This discovery in field of caving has definitely boosted their confidence and their remark that the satellite images show some other great discoveries are still awaiting in the great Amazon jungles is a proof of this.
History to the discovery
The Hang Son Doong lies in the most difficult terrains of Vietnamand so it is very difficult to reach out there. The cave is covered by jungles and one has to be very close to the cave to find it.

The cave is very eerie and noisy-the expediting team fears of the poisonous centipedes that lie inside. They even claim to have seen monkeys coming inside and moving out through the top of the cave. There are also a couple of skylights about 300 mts above. The river flowing inside the deserted produces ghastly noises that can be heard at the entrance.
The discovery of the cave is marked back in 1991 by a local Vietnamese farmer called Ho Knanh.It is also believed that the local farmers of the area were beware of the discovery but they were too scared to excavate inside. It was this local farmer that guided the British-Vietnamese team to the cavern.

Son Doong¡¯s airy chambers sprouts plantations where a fair amount of light enters from the top making it differ from other bare, creep and dark insides familiar with most of caves. In the jungles beneath the roof openings the explorers have seen monkeys, snakes and birds. Near the exit lies the cascade of limestone grooves depicting a large waterfall which stopped the explorers in their way.

The world¡¯s largest cave has been tunneled by the river Rao Thuong, which gradually shrinks to a series of ponds during the dry months. The river can rise to about 300 feet during floods. There is unusually a large collection of stone spheres formed drip by drip over the centuries as calcite crystals left behind by water which fills the dried out terrace pools near the garden of Edam in Hang Son Doong. Somewhere in the cave lie the cactus garden which are gardens of fat and thin stalagmites looking as cactus on the floor of the cave.
