Abiding in Christ

"Abide in Me and I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me." John 15:4

That verse provides a perfect illustration of what our relationship with Christ should look like! Yet there seem to be many people who don't understand it fully, and many more who profess Jesus as their Savior and display no fruit in their lives.

On "Grace to You," John MacArthur begins his study of Abiding in Christ (4/9-4/23) and provides deep insight into the words Jesus spoke to His disciples as He was about to leave them. It's an important series that helps us understand what it really means to be an abiding branch and how we can have an on-going life-sustaining relationship through Jesus Christ.

To prepare for that study, though, we need to understand and embrace the meaning of the Cross. Encourage listeners to tune in all next week (4/2-6) as John MacArthur explains Easter Through the Eyes of God.

Defining True Worship

Where, and when, do you worship God? In church on Sunday? How about your commute to work, lunch with friends, a Saturday afternoon with the family -- can those be moments for worship? Maybe the real question is ...

How do you define worship?

John MacArthur says that "biblical worship--worship in spirit and truth--is a constant attitude. It's a persistent inclination of your heart and mind toward the majesty and glory of the Lord ... a nonstop activity that is borne out in faithful praise, prayer, service, and study of God's Word."

In March on "Grace to You," John helps listeners understand the meaning of True Worship and that it's not just a place or a feeling, but a way of life. This 2-week study airs March 12-30.

Coinciding with John's study is his recently released book "Worship: The Ultimate Priority." It makes biblically clear that worship is how we prioritize and live a life that glorifies God.

Single or Married?

Whatever your marital status ... God does have a plan for your life.

But there's no denying that with all the opinions out there on marriage, divorce, and singleness ... knowing what's right, what's wrong, and what's best for Christians can be very confusing.

That's why this month, John MacArthur examines Scripture to provide us with important Guidelines for Singleness and Marriage. We'll learn what God's Word says about the path to marriage, divorce and remarriage, the blessings of being single, and yes, dealing with sexual temptation. Encourage your listeners to tune in to "Grace to You," beginning February 13.

Listeners might also consider securing a copy of John MacArthur's new book Moments of Truth: Unleashing God's Truth One Day at a Time. Through daily bite-size pieces, John addresses practical and foundational subjects, providing Scripture and eye-opening lessons that are relevant to the season. The Gospel According to ... Paul?

That was the subject of John MacArthur's messages during the Truth Matters conference this past September. During those four days, attendees heard that the gospel is ...

glorious
satisfying
reconciling
sovereign
humbling

It is an important and timely message to share because as John said then, "it's under assault today ... and we need to be clear about what the New Testament says and what the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write with regard to the gospel."

The Gospel According to Paul is set to air on "Grace to You" beginning in January. Listeners will get a closer look at Paul when John MacArthur considers his life--the enemies he made and the suffering he endured until his death--all because he knew the God who gives undeserved mercy to the rebel sinner. The gospel changed the Apostle Paul's life . . . and it can transform your own. When I heard this message back in September, it certainly impacted mine.

I can't think of a better way to start the New Year then to listen again to this brand-new series of messages. I hope you'll join me and encourage your listeners to do the same.
