Donations are starting to add up and we are happy to announce that we are at just over $1.5 million in donations and pledges for the building fund!  Have you made your Pledge? We know that there are still those who are wanting to donate or make pledges.
Forms are available at the office or on our website.  Or contact one of the committee members to schedule a visit. Remember: no amount is too small!

Grocery Coupons sales are going well and we have just about sold our second batch of Co-op cards.  The cards are available before and after church or from committee members. Co-op cards are good across Western Canada for groceries, gas and even aggro supplies!  Consider committing to buying a set amount each month to cover your co-op purchases - we make 10% on each card sold! If we can sell $25,000 per month that is $30,000 dollars raised!

Musical Evening: We also would like you to mark your calendars for April 29th at 7:00 pm at the church when we will host a musical evening featuring IL DUO.  IL DUO, a dynamic musical comedy group in the style of Smothers Brothers and other comedy duos. Their brand of musical silliness leaves no note unsung and no heart string unplucked! IL Duo has been stunning audiences since early 2010, and plan to stun the rest of the world very soon. This zany live theatre performance has broad mass appeal and leaves its audiences rolling in the aisles with a healthy dose of audience participation and some unexpected takes on some well known and beloved pop songs.

"It may be difficult to believe, but there is a chance during this 60-minute musical comedy you will laugh till you cry at a grown man singing like a cat in heat....the two tenors of Il Duo are so appealing they can get audience members to do almost anything!" - Margo Goodhand - Winnipeg Free Press - Four Stars (Winnipeg Fringe Festival Review 2011)

We are looking for musical talent from the youth of our church to perform before the concert.  Please let Len Long know of any potential performers.  Tickets will be available soon!

“Encounters”

(Five Encounters with Christ, as found in Mark’s Gospel)

The season of Lent prepares us to once again take hold of the meaning and power of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.  But, it is not only His death and resurrection that save us, but also His peerless life and ministry.  During five Fridays in Lent we will examine something of His incredible life through five ‘encounters’ that people had with Him.  Thus, we will be reminded of what a glorious friend and Saviour we have in Christ.

Proceedings will begin sharp at 12 noon, with a short service of the word.  This will be followed by a soup and sandwich lunch, provided by the women of the church at a nominal charge.  Our time will close with a short meditation on the day’s theme, wrapping up by 1:00 p.m.

Central Board will  vote on approval to add to the Basis of Union the three doctrinal statements that over the years have been approved by meetings of the General Council and have been in use since they were approved"

That the 40th General Council 2009

i.        in the area of Doctrine, The United Church of Canada recognizes the primacy of Scripture, with the "Doctrine Section of the Basis of Union," "1940 Statement of Faith," "A New Creed," and "A Song of Faith," each being recognized as a "subordinate standard" of the United Church as contemplated by Declaration 28(b) of The United Church of Canada Act.

ii.        declare that "Doctrine" of the United Church for all purposes in the Basis of Union, By-Laws, and Appendices of The Manual be those subordinate standards, subordinate to Scripture, that are so approved by the United Church in accordance with the conditions contained within The United Church of Canada Act; and

iii.        authorize a remit to Presbyteries and to Pastoral Charges to test the will of the United Church with respect to these declarations and recognition.

The three documents mentioned above require a vote of yes we approve their addition, or no we do not.

If any members of the congregation would like to look over these documents they are posted on the bulletin board in the Narthex or Mary can email them to you.

Mark your calendars for 'Ultimate Date Night" hosted by the Church of God and Family Life Church on March 9th at the Wayside in Ballroom. 

The evening features Jay & Laura Laffoon and is sure to be full of fun and help rekindle your marriage!
