Christmas Eve Services Celebrating the Coming of Our Lord Are Set

for next Wednesday (Dec. 24th). The 4PM service is our "Barn Service" which will take place at The Oak Knoll Farm (33891 S. Rivals Road). Dress warm for this communion service celebrating Christ's arrival amidst God's creatures. The 10PM service is our Candlelight Service where the arrival of our Lord will be proclaimed through word and song as we share the holy meal and contemplate this most joyous birth. All are welcome to come and share the joy of Christ in our world at either (or both) of these popular worship services!

Reformation Sunday Celebration This Sunday (Oct. 26th) at 9AM!

Come and celebrate the reformers who forever changed the church as we worship in a festival celebration of their gifts to the faith. This communion service will include a special prayers, a children's message and Holy Communion. All are welcome and invited to this celebration!

Community Pet Blessing This Sunday September 28th @ 11AM

All of God's creatures are invited to take part in a community-wide pet-blessing this Sunday (September 28th) at 11AM. All pets are welcome to come (with their owners of course!) to participate in a brief prayer service followed immediately by an opportunity for individual blessing for all animals/owners in attendance! The service will take place on the church lawn (corner of Luther Dr. & Kahler Rd.). There will be a free-will offering collected with all proceeds to be sent to support the Will County Human Society.

Sunday School "Kick-Off" This Sunday, September 14th (Following Worship)

This Sunday (September 14) marks our Sunday School Kick-Off. Come and join us as our youth gather together to have some fun and grow in their faith. Sunday school will take place following services weekly. This year we continue with month-long Bible stories in the "Bread & Jam" format. See you there!!!

Pastor Zak lead his first worship service at Grace on August 3. His family visited that day as well, to hear his first sermon at Grace. Pastor Zak will have regular office hours, 9 am to noon, Monday through Thursday. Stop by the church, introduce yourself and visit for a while. If those hours are not convenient for you, call and make an appointment. set some time aside, get to know him, his wife Katie and 2 year old son, Henry.

Yesterday, fine send-off for Pastor Chris Beamsley. We will miss him, for sure. Now on to the next chapter at Grace. July 27, 9 am worship with Holy Communion. Rev Gary Erickson for Northern Illinois Synod will lead the service. He will also hold a forum for questions and concerns afterwards and will introduce our Interim Pastor.

December 24, 4 pm. Grace Lutheran is heading out to the country. Note the new location this year: The Oak Knoll Farm, 33891 S Rivals Road in Wilmington. If you'd rather not drive, there will be a shuttle leaving from Grace at 3:15 and 3:45. Dress warm!! Hot cocoa will be served at the barn. Directions: From Wilmington, go south on Rte 102. Turn right onto Rivals Rd (2 mi. south of McDonald's). Oak Knoll Farm is the first farm you will come to on Rivals Rd. Parking will be across the road from the farm.

We will focus in November, on bring their stories forward as well as asking for folks to sponsor them as they share the Good News. $20 for each day of sponsorship is quite a bargain. Lent begins with a solemn call for us to "turn around" – to turn from those things that separate us living the life God desires for us. It is a turning from those things that separate us from living as children of God and letting those things die, so that something new may grow- something that God longs for us and desires to give to us. During Lent we reflect on the meaning of our baptism into Christ's death and his resurrection.

Ash Wednesday is that solemn call for us to begin our Lenten journey. The sign of ashes reminds us of our human mortality and our frailty. What seems like an ending is really an invitation to make each day a new beginning- to be washed in God's love, mercy, and forgiveness. With the cross on our forehead, we long for the spiritual renewal that flows from the springtime Easter feast to come.
