Gentle Winds - CD by BT Alumnus Sean Clouse

Sean Clouse has produced a wonderful CD of instrumental music designed to enhance meditation and contemplation. Mike Hudson, Efrain Flores and Lester Estelle accompany Sean with a relaxing blend that doesn't get in the way of creating a devotional experience. Music with lyrics can be helpful at times and sometimes distracting from centering and becoming contemplative.

This podcast is an interview with Sean about his experience in producing the CD and his motivation. It includes some of the music on the CD. You can click on the Podcast link to hear it here or on the link to download it to listen later.

What image comes to mind when you hear the phrase “audacious prayer?”

Audacious means 1) extremely bold or daring, recklessly brave, fearless; 2) extremely original, without restriction to prior ideas, highly inventive; 3) recklessly bold in defiance of convention, propriety, law, or the like; insolent; brazen; 4) lively, unrestrained, uninhibited. (Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1). 2007)

You may find it audacious to believe that there is a God who cares about you. If God exists, some of us have the sneaky suspicion that his agenda is to make our life miserable. Have you ever prayed for God to make life a lot safer and domesticated than what audacious sounds like?

The act of honest prayer is inherently audacious in that it goes against what we think the odds are in some situation – otherwise we don’t think about needing to pray. It goes against what we call reality or scientific laws. Our own deep doubts can make praying seem audacious. “I believe. Help my unbelief.”

Podcasting and iTunes Subscription

What is Podcasting?

Podcasting is a method of sharing, over the Internet, audio or video programs that you can play on your personal computer or mobile device (like an iPod, etc). Podcasting allows you to select the time and place you listen to the GraceConnexion podcasts that includes “Tools for HeartConnexion Living” as well as additional teaching resources from Dr. Paul, Susanna and the HCM staff.

What do I need to listen to the podcasts?

The GraceConnexion Podcasts are mp3 files that can be downloaded and played on your computer using free players like Windows Media Player or iTunes. The most popular, iTunes is free and works on Windows PCs and Apple computers. Use this link to download and install iTune Player.

Can I subscribe to GraceConnexion Podcasts on iTunes?

Yes, you can

subscribe to GraceConnexion Podcasts using iTunes. If you subscribe, your computer will automatically check for new podcasts each time you open iTunes. You do not need an iPod or mobile audio player to listen to our podcasts, but if you have one of these devices, you can use it to time and place shift to whenever and wherever you want!

OK, I downloaded and installed iTunes, now what?

Here are two ways to subscribe to GraceConnexion Podcast through iTunes:

OPTION 1: Open your iTunes program and click here. This will run your iTunes program and bring up the GraceConnexion Podcast page. Click SUBSCRIBE and confirm you want to add the GraceConnexion channel to your podcast library.

This week's Tool is presented by Wanda Ray titled The Question Connexion - Going Deeper. She looks at the use of questions in creating and sustaining healthy dialog. Once again, we can have many motives behind our questions and it is important to be aware of our motives and ask good questions. Like you, I have had people ask me questions that I knew they would not remember my answers for long because their agenda was not to hear what I was saying but as part of their hidden agenda - not a good way to create dialog. Two skills are critical to maintain healthy dialog: 1) Noticing when the conversation has become too risky for either party and 2) Knowing how to restore the two fundamental conditions needed for safety. The key conditions are: Mutual Purpose and Mutual Respect. If either of these are missing the converstation will become unsafe. Dr. Paul builds reviews some practical suggestions to develop these skills.
