Preparing for the Debut

This coming March 10 is the debut of the daughter of my best friend. I am now busy finalizing every detail for this big event . The cotillion dance should be perfect enough for the grand entrance of the Debutante . The venue has already been booked at the grandest hotel in the city. Everyone's excited specially those who will give the 18 roses, 18 candles and the 18 treasures. Her dad who's in the USA requested for a audio video conferencing to see the big event. This is one thing I should check. I need the highest speed internet broadband to cover the big event live on skype.

School year is ending and once again summer will be here again. It is during this time of the year when packing a picnic basket filled with all types of delicious foods is enough to create a relaxed summer picnic. As early as now, we are looking already for commercial picnic tables . One that’s of good quality and big enough for the whole family. For this year, we fore-go expensive out-of-town vacations and planned to spend a week at our farm land . We had enough going to bustling cities and its tourist spots. I guess it’s time to refresh and commune ourselves with nature.

Early this morning, we surprised my mother-in-law with birthday songs and an early breakfast birthday buffet. She knew us as late morning riser , so she was surprised to hear songs four 0'clock in the morning. My mom is already 74 years old but still active as school administrator of an international school. She's such as sweet . loving and caring mother. I greatly thank God for her life.

Water Backpack

I admit that my husband is missing his regular biking nowadays. I have been admitted to the hospital for three days now and he’s taking care of me while I’m here. I know that he’s quite religious with keeping fit and healthy. I admire his zealousness in spending an hour or two with his mountain bike and even spending time mountain running and hiking.

And if there’s one thing he wants to have is a water backpack for his adventure with nature. That’s one thing I would gladly do it for him. And how about me? I think I would do a regular exercise, jogging at the park of or subdivision.

Our Annual Leader's Summit ended successfully. Ministers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao came together for a Three-day of Business Meeting , Fellowship and of course the Annual reporting. Thanks to the report designer that I was able to download from the internet. I was able to present a satisfactory presentation in such a short period of time.

It's a great joy to see our partners and co-laborers in God's vineyard. It's encouraging to know that there are people who are willing to go out from their comfort zone and serve the purpose of God in their lives.

It’s a tradition that when a female in a Filipino family turns 18, they throw her a big, formal party with escorts, ballroom and dinner for kings. And in March, my friend’s daughter is turning legal (18, that is) and they’re throwing her that big party. I’m directly involved in the planning, and this is the perfect opportunity for me to make use of the planning skills I’ve garnered through my experience as a part-time wedding planner. But one problem that seems to (oddly) trouble us nowadays is her accessories. She’s most likely to fret about the smallest details but I’m sure that if we get her those titanium earrings early, all will be well.

A jogging baby stroller ? I saw one this morning while me and my hubby were having our early morning exercise. We are temporary staying at my mom-in-law's place after Typhoon "Sendong" hit our place. One thing we love in mom's place is the peaceful and fresh environment. The park is just in-front the house so doing our rounds is very tempting. I admire the newly wed couple who integrated their fitness lifestyle into their normal parenting routines. I hope to see them again tomorrow.

My husband is one of the forerunners of "TRUE LOVE WAITS", a concert/symposium done every February in celebration of Valentine's Day. This event was created to create an awareness among the young people with regards to knowing the real essence of love. This year's event is special since it's the 10th year of bringing the advocacy to the young people. Venue will be at the capitol grounds of the city which can cater as much as three thousand people. My son who is the lead guitarist of our church junior band is so excited that as early as now he bought a new guitar rig and strap. I hope and pray that our request to partner with the Department of Education for the campus symposium would be approved. In this way, we can maximize our audience and minimize our expenses.

We were looking for fridges to replace our old one which was slightly damaged after the flash flood that hit our place. The frugal me wanted to keep it since it is still working but my hubby told me that we should replace everything to erase the trace of " Typhoon Sendong". What? Is he joking?

After Typhoon Sendong hit our city... many got sick. Three of our dearest friends shared the same room since all the hospitals were already full occupied. Thank God one survived the fatal Leptispirosis Disease.

Cosmetics and Me

The world has had its fair share of ups and downs when it comes to cosmetics and skin products. I’ve seen skin care regimen evolve from its humble state during my teens to the continuously growing innovations of today. But frankly, I am always hesitant to try new products because of my particularly sensitive skin. That is also why I don’t wear makeup very often. But now that I’m getting farther and farther away from my heyday, I really opt to try new things like the best eye cream and anti wrinkle cream. It’s getting rather popular in the market today and a lot of my friends have been very supportive of me getting it.

It’s not easy being unable to buy the skin regimen products I want all the time. I’ve been on one too many trips to the dermatologist because of my skin. There was even a time when I was in high school, I wasn’t able to attend our Graduation Ball because I was rushed to the hospital because my face swelled up and at the height of it all, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. I’ve looked forward to that day for months and it all went out the window because I wasn’t careful enough. After sulking for quite some time, I was able to move on but carried the painful memory with me. It was something that allowed me to be more vigilant in wearing makeup and other skin care products. I read labels and researched them to avoid repetition of that dreadful experience. You could only imagine what I went through that day—embarrassment, pain and much apprehension. But I learned a very valuable lesson after that so I guess it wasn’t all that bad.

Even my daughter inherited having sensitive skin, so we’re not so eager on buying her beauty products. She’s eleven now and for some people, that may be a good age to start using cosmetics and other skin treatments. But I approach that thought with much trepidation. But even when given the earlier traumatizing events of my life, I am starting to change my mind (for the better) regarding the recent advancements they’ve reached with the rapidly changing technology of skin care products. But perhaps not yet for my daughter. I can’t bear see her in that state, so vulnerable and so aggrieved. Probably when she’s old enough (say around 15—for prom), then maybe then. We’ll be really careful to test the products as to avoid any unwanted incidents (and dramatic episodes) as much as possible.

What we have worked for the past 16 years were gone in a matter of 20 minutes . The flash flood that hit our place ravaged and damaged everything we had. From appliances, furniture, books, clothes, bed and kitchen utensils. Above is just one part of our house where everything scuttled down . Our computer cabinet which stood beside the computer table is nowhere to be found. It was soak to the water and mud together with mom's paintings, picture frames and DVD rack.

It's exactly a month today after that dreadful typhoon but to be honest... I haven't moved on.
