This blog has been open since January 1, 2008, although it’s only been in class use since the end of January when we started the new school year. Since then, we have had visitors from ten countries: Australia (of course!), USA, England, France, Netherlands, Iran, South Korea, Israel, New Zealand and Canada. That’s a pretty good spread, I think.

So, what brings these visitors? How do they find us? We know that our travelling class member Cointha has visited our site from England, France and the Netherlands. We know that some people from the USA linked to this site from last year’s blog. What about the others? How did they find us?

If you are a visitor that doesn’t know one of us personally, we’d really appreciate your posting a comment to tell us how you found us. Thanks!

Students will use their blogs for a variety of purposes including sharing ideas, publishing writing and asking for feedback. Each student will be able to chose their own theme for their blog - so far the most popular choice seems to be pink!

Today we looked over the new blog, familiarising ourselves with new terms like post, blog and widget. We also discussed internet protocols, such as ensuring we never give away personal information and making sure our work is of a high standard to share with the world.

Some students also learned to post comments. We love comments! In fact, I want to encourage comments so much that I will give 1000 house points to the first ten students (from 5/6C) to post a comment to our blog before Wednesday. To qualify, comments must be correctly spelled and punctuated and say something intelligent (sharing an idea or commenting thoughtfully on a post - no yells AAAARRRGGGHHHH!)

When we have all of our permission forms back, students will be able to write their own posts and, soon, post on their own blogs! Stay tuned…
