KidRobot

2011-11-10T21:10:00.001-08:00

One word... Kidrobot.

Been meaning to post about kidrobot.com so here it goes.

Kidrobot is a vinyl toy [+] extra producer. Tons of artist collaborate to produce some amazing art pieces and collectibles.

Here's a little look at my small Dunny collection and there's a monger thrown in there... I had more but have been robbed over the years...

Collection [+] DIYs

Close up

The four at the bottom are still in the wrapper due to me acquiring them recently in attempts to replace what was stolen.

Here are some clearer pics of these with accessories:

Barbarian

DevilRobot

Toofly

Mad Detective

Most of the Dunnys come with accessories that fit with the concept, or a sticker with artist name etc. They range in size from the 3.5" ones I've shown to 20" and up. Plus there are other types of sick collections up on the site.

I've got a couple blank DIY Munnies that eventually I get around to hooking up and I'll definitely post that here when I do. BUT I definitely recommend everyone looking into the KIDROBOT phenom if your looking for new ways to collect work by your favorite graff artist.

Trains Trains and more Trains

2011-11-04T08:19:00.000-07:00

Been a bit busy with some unforeseen issues, but I felt like I need to get back to posting before I loose my audience....Todays post is going to be all about trains... the most historical place to get up outside of finding that sweet spot.

Hit me up if you know the artist...will be appreciated. These works are great and makes me a bit heated that I've never had the opportunity to get up on a train.

And on a side note...unless your extremely ambitious, as of late it's been a little difficult to get up on trains in some areas, so some very wise people developed alternatives to satisfy your itch...

some examples.

Custom jobs done by some legit artist or some legit hobbyist. I've included a few links where you can get your hands on some DIY kits and start tagging up your own trains for display....

This first link is to get your hands on some blank functioning toy model trains... picture it a train track round your room with your tagged up trains rolling by...click here.

The second link is to www.artoyz.com they have up one sided vinyl toy train models. They too are DIY and one flat side means you can mount it on a wall. Or you can probably by two glue the suckers together and have a standing model to place somewhere, probably amongst your other vinyl collectibles... click here

The third link is to www.allcitystyle.com, their vinyl trains aren't that different from that offered by artoyz but definitely have a bit more detail, you also have to buy in bulk but that can be a good thing...

The last link is for a paper model of the allcitystyle train...you can print it out, customize it and construct it for free or for practice before you get the real thing... Download PDF

The BLACKBOOK

2011-10-23T12:21:00.000-07:00

Where every writer gets their start...

The Blackbook. The Graffiti artist's sketchbook where you spend some time working out your next dope piece. Where you get other artist to represent on a few pages...the thing you hide from the cops because it can link you to that dope piece you put up in that sweet spot a few weeks back...The BlackBook.

Now to share some random blackbook pieces I found that I hope to see up one day.

As you can see by this point I'm pretty much a fan of Wildstyle. Just look at what I post up...more black books to come, maybe I'll even put up some of my own...

MrDheo

2011-10-22T14:57:00.000-07:00

I like this artist's style... his characters are very graphic in nature with hard lines and soft tonal variations. He definitely uses his spray can like an artist would use a paint brush.

Shriimp... naked girls guaranteed

2011-10-20T17:13:00.000-07:00

Arguably involving the best canvas on the planet. Shriimping is the act of painting a tag on a nude or semi-nude female. Now in the past I may have shriimped on the female or two but I never actually took any legitimate photos of if.

Through my random searching on the internets and the occasional thread in a forum, I've discovered Bombing Science dedicated Shriimping site, at www.shriiimp.com. Check it out to see some amazing Shriimping work.

In the meantime here are some of my favorite pieces from this summer's shriimping contest:

Bombing Science by SPEK

This by Spek placed 1st in the Bombing Science Shriiimp girls Contest.

Bombing Science by Konte

This by Konte placed 2nd in the Bombing Science Shriiimp girls contest

Bombing Science by Siak

This by Siak placed 3rd.

Boro Wall

2011-10-19T14:03:00.000-07:00

Video of Ether TFO painting a wall for the Boro clothing line releasing this November.

I came across this video via bombingscience, watched it and I really appreciate the way the time-lapse reveals the breakdown of Ether's work. For more info on the clothing check out the following Brand Boro.

And now to reveal some of my stuff...

2011-10-17T14:08:00.000-07:00

I've been meaning to get around to this for some time now... Check out some of my old stuff. New work to come shortly.

Most of these are either on canvas or from my black book. There's a lot more than what I've posted here these are just my favorites out of what I can find... That last photo is an example of how horrible my tags are...eventually I get around to improving it.

Making your work Mobile

2011-10-06T19:32:00.000-07:00

Driving around with a friend I spotted this:

And it got me thinking...Man putting your shit up on the side of a vehicle has to be the best way to get your work seen by many. Grant it, I myself have never been in a position to bomb, tag or put a piece on a truck, but given the opportunity... I'm for it.

So with a few minutes to spare in my "busy" schedule I hunted down some amazing pics of graffiti on trucks.

Giant

Reyes

And lets not forget the truck in my banner, I see "Meen Sumo" driving all the time around my old neighborhood...so I took that shot. Anyways, I also stumbled across a vinyl toy site that makes 8" and smaller replicas of trucks that you can customize or buy pre-tagged by note-worthy graffiti heads.

The cost isn't so bad and the larger models have working cargo holds so you can use it to stash shit it.

Enjoy the pics, hit up the comments if you know the artist.

The sheer greatness of the handstyle

2011-10-06T11:47:00.000-07:00

The whole concept of handstyles has always been a bit intimidating to me. I mean developing a handstyle on your own takes a lot of patience and practice. Attempting to make your style look sick and simply your own borders on redonkulous, and no matter how hard I tried I never was quite happy with what I came up with. So like many before me I just adapted the style of my predecessors in an attempt to keep their hand going.

So I give much credit to those who adapted an entire alphabet in their own style breaking away from just doing their tag.

Some of my favorite sources of inspiration. Some of these also are elaborate handstyles but still have the ability to be done as a tag.

Graffiti on Canvas

2011-10-04T11:43:00.001-07:00

Bringing the world of graffiti to your walls in a less obtrusive way.

Personally I have no problems with pieces, bombs and tags done on physical walls. There's just something awesome by doing it in a way to cherish it for ever... Or more realistically make a little duckets selling it to the fans.

Here's some canvas work that's worth mentioning.

Wheat-paste with a helping of stencils

Seeing these makes me want to break out some of my old designs, sharpen my razor blades and exacto knives. For real the spray can airplanes were on point, and the skateboarder is insanely fluid.

If anyone knows the names of the people who did the 'Unknowns', please hit me up in the comment section, and I'll go back and edit.

Kidult Says Hi

HELLO... meet Kidult

See Kidult in action... in the "illegalize Graffiti" short.

KIDULT ITW (uncensored) "ILLEGALIZE GRAFFITI" from eric on Vimeo.

Bow down in sheer amazment:

Dude's pretty sick...would have never thought of converting a fire extinguisher into a serious sprayer. The coverage he gets with that thing is on point. Talk about invasive and large scale tagging. If you actually read the entire piece on kidult, located here: Oskoui Blog, you would understand the message he's trying to make...In many ways I agree with his statement. He has my support.

Sometimes at night I Dream of Graffiti

2011-09-29T22:22:00.001-07:00

Graffiti has always been a passion of mine. I remember being much younger than I am now starring in awe at the painted pictures and letters on the walls; mimicking what I saw on whatever paper I could get my hands on.

Some years later I rediscovered this counter culture via a few older cousins. Often serving as a look out while they tagged a wall on the way home from school, or threw up some stencil they'd been working on.

Long story short I eventually took up the art form as a legitimate side hobby and stored it in my back pocket. I've attended art school, it managed to happily sneak it's way in my work.

Although I'm focused on my illustration degree, and other creative pursuits; sometimes at night I dream of graffiti.

To address my mind's willful "suggestions" I've created this blog. Not only do I plan to post my work, old and new, I plan to discuss and post everything graffiti related I stumble across. Keep the focus on graffiti culture and promoting my favorite artist.

This sounds like fun.
