The habit reportedly stems from the old textile mill-based economy and the practice of closing the mills for a week or two this time of year. <br /><br />I think it might also have to do with the time-honored southern traditions of slow-cookin' barbecue, drinking beer on the patio, and heading to the beach in a desperate attempt to escape the dog days of summer. All donations are tax deductible.<br /><br />The NCHFH Habitat ReStore is an outlet center open to the public stocked full of incredible deals that change daily. The ReStore offers a wide variety of items, new and used, including furniture, appliances, cabinets, flooring, lighting, plumbing, building materials, doors, windows and more. <br /><br />Through residential and commercial donations of overstocked, discontinued or slightly used items, the NCHFH Habitat ReStore has diverted over 282 tons of reusable items from landfills by providing these materials to the public at low prices.
