Version 1.7 launched at MWC in Barcelona

Grapewire is proud to announce the release of version 1.7 of its entertainment delivery platform. Improvements have been made to both the end user and administration experience. All features of the platform’s client is now supported for all browser, touch enabled browsers, iOS, Android 2.1 onwards, a series of IPTV set-top-boxes and testing has begun on clients specifically designed for gaming consoles which play a more significant role as entertainment consumption devices.

Support has been built into the platform to simplify multi language UI development. The UI is already available in English, Spanish, Polish, Hungarian, Portugese and all the Scandinavian languages.

Creation and management of curated music channels is now much easier in a distributed environment and both ingestion and normalization of content is now a much faster process which adds flexibility to product management.

Support for cloud based content delivery has been added.

Products can now be customized based on end device type.

The platform now takes advantages of all features of the Facebook OpenGraph Music API allowing users to virally share channels and information on featured content.

IPTV – now featuring music

Siminn, the Icelandic Telecom has concluded the first phase of music service integration to the third screen – IPTV. 12 channels featured on Bestu Lögin, Siminn’s music service powered by the Grapewire entertainment platform are now also available through Siminn’s IPTV service. Subscribers can now enjoy 80 handcrafted quality music channels featuring entertainment fit for every mood or moment via the web, on Android handsets, iPhones and iPads, plus the 12 most popular channels via their television sets.

With it’s high penetration, Siminn’s TV service is now a great source of commercial free, non interrupted, quality music for subscribers.

Siminn upgrades music services

Siminn, the Icelandic Telecom, is upgrading their music service powered by the Grapewire entertainment platform. Five of the current lineup of 80 music channels will be free of charge and open for all users regardless of their ISP or mobile operator. This is a significant change and helps portrait the value of the music service available to Siminn’s clients.

Some adjustments were also made to the content to better reflect customer preference and usage patterns. At the same time the channels dedicated to music performed by artists featured at the Siminn sponsored Iceland Airwaves festival were re-launched.

By use of the Grapewire platform, new product lineup is being introduced where channels are now made available in a subscription packages of 5 based on mood. Users can subscribe month for month, for a week or a weekend.

Grapewire builds The Living Archives

The research vessel Dardanella did on August 4th set sail for Greenland and Newfoundland from Reykjavik as she embarked on a 3-4 year journey circumventing the Americas. On board, a large group of researchers will complete a series of projects involving underwater recordings of sea mammals, workshops on various topics and the documentation of issues pertinent to events, people and places the Dardanella encounters on her long journey.

The results will become accessible to the general public as part of The Living Archives, a website accessible to scholars, researches and artist who like to use the content in the future. The archiving on board and the online representation of the massive abundance of content is designed, developed and run by Grapewire and Berlin’s Zitromat Design for the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary in Vienna.

Special Programming for Ringtonar

Grapewire enables global Netcast from the Icelandic Horse Festival 2011

Grapewire is launching a NetTV service on two channels featuring all events of the 8 day Icelandic Horse Festival taking advantage of the Grapewire entertainment delivery platform. Re-streaming was enabled by technology provider Kukl via servers provided by Simafelagid. Subscription are processed through the Grapewire payment gateway.

Grapewire enables distributed Ticket Delivery

A highly custom ticket sales, processing and delivery solution tailored to the needs of the Icelandic Horse Festival has now been integrated with the POS system of fuel merchants N1 for fast and distributed delivery of festival passes and trailer permits. The integration will be used for the future sales activity of The Icelandic Equestrian Association (LH) enabled by the Grapewire ticketing solution.

Major UI behavior improvement

Icelandic Telcom Siminn Deploys Ringtonar

Following the successful deployment of “Bestu login” streaming music service for customers of the Siminn brand the Icelandic Telcom launches another custom product for youth oriented brand Ring. Ringtonar is a selection of 15 channels two of them which reflect current promotions and directly link to ongoing event sponsorship. The results are a targeted value added service geared towards the ever changing music taste of the youngest demographics.
