Shelf Update

Graphsy has just undergone a fairly large update. The most noticeable changes include a larger drawing area, a new shelves panel (think of it as a saved shapes library), and a reworked tips message box providing a basic overview of how to use Graphsy. In addition to those overt features, Graphsy has also undergone several bug fixes (it now works well in IE), as well as many speed improvements. Now more shapes can be placed on screen before a visible slow down. The alignment system has been overhauled and most everything else now runs smother and with fewer bugs.

Sorry for such a long delay between releases. My hope is that the next one will not take as long. For the next release Graphsy will get the ability to manage tables and group shapes together.

In addition to pure development work, I have also set up a project management/tracking system (RedMine). If you are interested in following Graphsy's development in greater detail check it out here.

Save Your Colors

This new update brings with it a way to store colors in palettes. The color picker has changed to include enough space for 23 colors. Once a color is selected the user has to simply drag it from the display into 1 of the 23 slots available. These color choices will stay with the user across all of the projects and will be remembered when relaunching Graphsy. As always you can get more information regarding this feature as well as news about future updates at the corresponding blog post.

Maintenance Update

This update fixes a whole bunch of small bugs as well as unifies the roadmap and feature request pages. Now people can view the requested features without having an account. Still, only registered users can submit requests and vote for features. Hopefully this will get more people looking at the requests page and will make it more active.

Graph Embedding

Just add the embedding feature. Users can now share their creations by embedding them into their own web pages. These are rich elements that will let the viewers explore the graphs. Users can rearrange the shapes as well and zoom and pan throughout the images. For more information as well as examples check out the corresponding blog post.

Alignment Support

Added alignment support to Graphsy. As shapes are placed, they are snapped into place relative to other shapes already in the scene. Users can align shapes based on their positioning as well as their distance. More information is provided in the blog post discussing this feature.

Would have updated sooner, but travel and sickness go to me in the past few weeks. Hopefully will be back on a regular schedule of an update every two weeks.

Update: Undo/Redo

Added undo/redo functionality. I am still working on extending the layout functionality to use other objects in the project. Also adjusted the look of the front page and added "tips" that can be opened inside the studio. For more information check out the blog post.

Update: The Snappy Grid

Added an adjustable grid, as well as the snap to grid option. The grid image is rendered on the backend using ImageMagick so it may take a little bit of time to transmit. However, I found that it was faster to work with than trying to draw a grid using HTML. Next I will implement relational alignment between objects. So that when moving a box around it will automatically snap to be centered or justified with other shapes in the scene. For more information about the new control visit the related blog post.

Update: Selection and Layers

The newest Graphsy update bring with it selection mode, pan mode, and layer controls as well as other features and bug fixes. In selection mode one can use a selection box to select multiple objects in a project. Pan mode enables users to drag the project around. Using layers one can control which objects appear on top of other objects. More detail on these and other features is provided at the blog (http://www.blog.graphsy.com/?p=98). Check it out and please leave feed back in the comments or email me (max@graphsy.com).
