I was looking for transportation that would accomodate a family of 4 with a lot of luggage. I was having a hard time finding a company that could assist. They would send 2 vehicles but of course the cost was more then our organization (church) really wanted to pay. It interesting that there are many companies that can transport a person or 2 but not a family or group. Pretty much they are taxis not shuttles like your company. Also, the family that you took to O’hare only had great feedback about their experience and the professionalism. So glad you’ve discover your company and we will be using you again in the future.

Grasshopper Shuttle – Hop In!

Maybe you’ve heard the John Mayer’s pop-hit “Waiting on the World to Change” (Disclosure: This is not a music critique). There’s a few lines in this song that I just can’t agree with: “it’s not that we don’t care, it’s that we know the fight ain’t fair, so we keep waiting, waiting on the world to change,” Waiting…instead of acting. It sounds so dismissive, doesn’t it? Anyway, I believe that Americans do care and want to fight to bring about positive change in our world regardless of political, religious or musical affiliation.

On July 8, 2009 the “US Nat Gas” bill was introduced in the Senate. Among other things, it expands federal tax credits for vehicle owners that convert their gasoline-fueled vehicles to CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). Why is this important? Congress is trying to stimulate a market (supply & demand) for these alternatively fueled vehicles. The new bill would provide a tax credit of up to 80% of the incremental (new vehicles) and conversion costs of existing vehicles to CNG. As a fuel, Compressed Natural Gas is up to 95% cleaner than gasoline. Our country needs more vehicles running on this fuel!

So, if like John Mayer, you feel hopeless…here’s something concrete you can do to change the world. Contact your senator and ask them to support this bill. And if you’re willing to put your money where your mouth is, consider buying a CNG vehicle. Sometimes, the best vote we have is with our wallet. Earlier today, Grasshopper Charter took a group to Cinemark at Seven Bridges theaters in Woodridge. While we were waiting, we decided to fill up our tanks at Minuteman Mobile located at 5500 Lincoln Hwy (Rt. 53 & Maple) in Lisle, Illinois. It wasn’t by accident. They are one of the very few stations that sell E85 in our area. We paid $2.29/gallon which is about 20% below the local price of 87 Octane.

E85 isn’t as efficient, but after you adjust the price for efficiency it’s a financially break-even scenario. But isn’t it worth breaking-even? The ethanol is produced from corn right here in Illinois and although not the most green fuel out there, it’s better for the environment than gasoline.  If you own one of the 8,000,000 flex fuel vehicles in the United States, take the time & effort to find your nearest E85 retailers and fill-er-up. When you compare the benefits to the costs, you’ll realize your doing more than just breaking-even.

What the heck does that mean?
