The "Grays" have been really busy creating new products for the "Gray is Beautiful" Gallery. One of the new products is a 2012 calendar.

I used to always buy Greenpeace calendars because they were really, really wide. However, a couple of years ago the "Grays" started complaining about this and demanding that I use their "Gray Is Beautiful" calendar. After all they told me it was every bit as wide as the Greenpeace one.

So, of course, I had to give into their demands. Well, don't tell them, but I haven't missed the Greenpeace calendar at all. The "Gray Is Beautiful" calendar is every bit as wide and I love it. The graphics are bright and cheery and, best of all, it celebrates "seniors."

It's been a very BUSY year - even for the "grays!"

Now they might take offense at my saying "even for the grays!" as that would imply that as senior citizens they couldn't keep up with their younger parts - the rest of the "dollies!"

Well, that is far from the truth.

In fact, the "GRAYS" have so much energy and have been doing so much that the other "dollies" asked that I speak to them and ask them to slow down just a little bit.

So, I did!

And, well, if you know the "Grays" you know what their reaction was.

They said, "Phooey! If they can't keep up - too bad! Time is wasting and we have so much to do!"

The"Grays" have been busy for the past two weeks designing and refining their latest product line.

They've also been "bickering" a bit between themselves as to which design to choose, which background to use, and which saying to use. And, of course, they've been bickering as to who would have the final say.

Well, of course, Helena told everyone that Linda would have the final say - which didn't sit well with most of the "Grays" - and never does. That was enough of an impetus to get the "grays" to agree on and finalize their new designs.

Now that they've come to a consensus as to what the new product designs would be they are eager to show it off to all of you.

At this point you might be wondering what the new product line is? Well,since the "grays" just love games we'll give you a clue - it's a perfect gift or decoration for the upcoming holiday season.

They Finally Came To A Consensus!

The "Grays" were celebrating last night and could hardly wait to tell you their exciting news. They just finished creating their Gray Is Beautiful calendar for 2011.

They've been working on it for a couple of days and finally came to a consensus on the design. Now you might think coming to a consensus is no big deal. Well, normally it isn't, but when it involves our "Gray Is Beautiful" group of dolls it is.

You see, they're all strong willed, all have their own opinions which they are not afraid to voice, and all have their own unique tastes in what they like and don't like. And, most importantly, they each want to have their own way.

At one point I thought we were going to have to call a professional crisis negotiator. Alas, they came to their senses and I was spared that expense.

The "Grays" were all excited and bustling around, whispering to each other. They wanted to celebrate it this year and wanted to be prepared. And, they only had 11 more days to get ready.

But, they decided that their had celebration was going to be all inclusive. It was going to include every senior citizen - grandparent or not. After all this was the closest day seniors got to being celebrated and they wanted to honor everyone.

So, what are they celebrating?

Well, Grandparent's Day - of course.

And, they wanted all the "grays" and all the senior citizens included whether they were grandparents or not.

So, they were busy planning their party.

Of course, this got Linda to thinking about Grandparent's Day and the history behind it. And, if you're a follower of Linda's Blog you all know how much Linda likes history.

So, what is Grandparents Day and when did it get started?

According to Wikipedia.com here's what it is:

National Grandparents Day is a secular holiday celebrated in the United States on the first Sunday after Labor Day. It is celebrated in the United Kingdom on the first Sunday in October.

Marian McQuade of Oak Hill, West Virginia, has been recognized nationally by The United States Senate —in particular by Senator Jennings Randolph; Senator Robert Byrd and President Jimmy Carter — as the founder of National Grandparents Day. McQuade made it her goal to educate the youth in the community about the important contributions seniors have made throughout history. She also urged the youth to "adopt" a grandparent, not only for one day a year, but rather for a lifetime.

In 1973, Senator Jennings Randolph introduced a resolution to the Senate to make Grandparents Day a national holiday. West Virginia's Governor Arch Moore had proclaimed an annual Grandparents Day for the state, at the urging of of Marian McQuade. When Senator Randolph's resolution in the U.S. Senate died in committee, Marian McQuade organized supporters and began contacting governors, senators, and congressmen in all fifty states. She urged each state to proclaim their own Grandparents Day. Within three years, she had received Grandparents Day proclamations from forty-three states. She sent copies of the proclamations to Senator Randolph. In February, 1977, Senator Randolph, with the concurrence of many other senators, introduced a Joint Resolution to the Senate requesting the President to "issue annually a proclamation designating the first Sunday of September after Labor Day of each year as 'National Grandparents Day'." Congress passed the legislation proclaiming the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day and, on August 3, 1978, then-President Jimmy Carter signed the proclamation. The statute cites the day's purpose as: "... to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children, and to help children become aware of strength, information, and guidance older people can offer".

Some people claim the origin of the holiday resides with the efforts of Hermine Beckett Hanna of North Syracuse, New York, recognizing seniors and their importance as early as 1961. On February 21, 1990, New York Congressman James T. Walsh recognized the efforts of Hermine Beckett Hanna in front of the U.S. House of Representatives, thanking her "for her important role in the establishment of Grandparents Day."

Well, the "grays" couldn't agree more and feel all "seniors should be cherished." In fact, that was one of the main reasons behind their "Gray Is Beautiful" product line.

Devin, A Bunny Gentleman! For The Gray Is Beautiful Fashion Show

"Laura, The Quintessential Lady Bunny!" was pacing around the house and couldn't wait for her husband, "Devin, A Bunny Gentleman", to get home. He was working late tonight and wouldn't be home for a few hours. Laura wasn't sure she could wait that long.

You see, she was quite beside herself. She just couldn't understand what they hadn't received their invitation to join the "Victorian Animals Tea Society" that was started by "Bearly Victorian, Ryan" and his wife, "Bearly Victorian, Deb!" for all their wonderful Victorian animal friends.

After getting rejected for the umpteenth time from the latest Victorian tea society that he had applied to "Barely Victorian, Ryan!" decided that he and his wife should start their own club.

Their club would truly have an open membership and be accepting of all individuals and creatures. None of this "open to all", but really closed to animals rules. So what if Ryan and Deb were bears. They were still Victorian to the core. In fact, their lineage was probably older than some of the snooty Victorians who turned down their membership application.

Laura and Devin were not only "animals, but "old money" animals which meant they were the creme de la creme of the Victorian animal establishment. They were definitely eligible to join the "Victorian Animals Tea Society." So, why hadn't they received an invitation yet?

"Devin, A Bunny Gentleman!" is an 18" Victorian bunny gentleman. He is a self standing bunny doll with a square bottom and warm & natural body. His face is embroidered and his cheeks are blushed. The outline of his mouth is embroidered with a back stitch and his nose is satin stitch embroidered with pink floss. The inside of his mouth is colored pink. The outline of his eyes is back stitch embroidered with black floss and his pupils are satin stitched with black floss while his iris are colored brown. His eyelashes are straight stitch embroidered with black floss. His eyebrows and long mustache are both made of raw mohair. He has whiskers on both sides of his cheeks.

Devin's beautifully tailored outfit is the latest in Victorian gentleman's wear. His shirt is finished and gathered at the neck edge and his lined vest matches his jacket. He has a lace trimmed ascot wrapped around his neck which is overlapped in the front and tied with a DMC bow.

His jacket is lined and has front pockets and a collar with lapels. His sleeves are cuffed and the edges of his lined jacket are top stitched. His jacket is fastened in the front with two large buttons and DMC floss.

He has beautiful straight white mohair hair that is barely controlled underneath his lined, brimmed, and pointed hat. He has wired warm and natural ears with fabric inner ears that are sticking out through the slits in his hat. There is a separate band around the brim of his hat with feather decorations.

"Devin, A Bunny Gentleman!" knows that when he gets home he will have wonderful news for his wife. You see, he has the invitation to the "Victorian Animals Tea Society" in his pocket. It was hand delivered by "Bearly Victorian, Ryan" himself.

Devin wasn't surprised by the invitation. Despite his 70+ years he is still the creme de la creme of society and fully expected to receive a personal invitation. Just wait until Laura hears. She'll be thrilled.

The outline of her mouth is embroidered with a back stitch and nose is satin stitch embroidered with pink floss. The inside of her mouth is colored pink. The outline of her eyes is back stitch embroidered with black floss and the pupils of her eyes are satin stitched with black floss while her iris are colored brown. The outline of her eyebrows is back stitch embroidered with black floss and her eyebrows are colored gray. She has whiskers on both sides of her cheeks.

Deb has a layer of wonderful lace trim along the bottom of her square body and is wearing a double lace trimmed and gathered slip. Her beautiful coordinating ensemble is the latest in Victorian fashion.

Her dress is gathered at the waistline and along the neck edge. The sleeves are cuffed and are gathered at the shoulders and halfway up the cuff edge. Her dress has has multiple layers of multi-colored and gathered lace trim along the bottom hem edge and along the waistline. She has a matching ascot with several layers of lace trim that is wrapped around her neck, overlapped int he front, and secured with a DMC floss bow.

She has beautifully curly white mohair hair that is barely controlled underneath her frilly, lace trimmed and gathered bonnet which is tied to the right side of her head in a bow. She has wired warm and natural ears with fabric inner ears that are sticking out through the slits in her bonnet..

Her matching shawl is lined, has multiple layers of lace trim along the edges, and is wrapped around her shoulders and tied in a knot in the front. She is carrying a frilly, multi-layered lace trim wicker umbrella with a large silk floral decoration.

"Laura, The Quintessential Lady Bunny!" is quite the epitome of a fashionable lady of society and has been for a very long time. Despite her 70+ years she is still the creme de la creme of society. So, where is her invitation? When will her husband get home?

Doug, The Handy Dandy Gentleman! For The Gray Is Beautiful Fashion Show

"Petronella, The Birdhouse Lady!" is very concerned about her bird friends and their survival over the long, cold winter months.

In fact she is so concerned she asked her husband, "Doug, The Handy Dandy Gentleman!" to make her several birdhouses that she could put in the yarn to help her feathered friends.

The problem is that Petronella doesn't want just any birdhouses. She wants fancy Victorian birdhouses, with style and class. Lots of details and intricate molding.

Doug, on the other hand, doesn't want to invest so much time in making birdhouses that are just going to be destroyed by Petronella's fine feathered friends. He doesn't want to make them, but he loves to please Petronella.

"Doug, The Handy Dandy Gentleman!" is a 13" squared bottomed self-standing Victorian snowman warm & natural cloth doll. He has an embroidered face with black bead eyes, resin carrot nose, outline embroidered mouth, and blushed cheeks. He also sports a cute wool fleece mustache.

Doug a full head of straight white mohair hair that is barely controlled under his lined felt top hat.

He is wearing his favorite felt jacket with white piping along all the edges, a left side breast pocket, and two front pockets. His jacket is secured in the front with three buttons and two large fringed scarves are tied around his neck and then in a knot in the front.

He also has two felt earmuffs over his ears to keep him warm and being the gentleman that he is he's carrying a handkerchief in his breast pocket. He just never knows when his wife, Petronella, will need it.
