I got rid of my coffee maker and have been pour over brewing for some time now. Being able to brew with water within the 195-205 range really makes a difference. I usually brew about 30 ounces of coffee. One of the best cups of coffee, I've ever had. I have read all the reviews about this taking a long time. To that I would suggest adjust your grind and fold the filter at the creases. If the coffee filter seam sits over the hole then it is trying to filter through the filter and then through the doubled up seam. It could take forever to drip through the equivalent of three filters. As far as drilling more holes, I think that is not the way to go. I don't think the issue is with the coffee getting out the hole. The "perfect" time for manual drip is around five minutes. Why would you want to have less contact with the water? Plus the last time I checked most coffee makers are having the coffee come out of just one hole. I have never tasted anything remotely like plastic. I think there have been some user errors here. This is no magic brewing system. You have to adjust to create a great product. Go out and make your self some real coffee.

Great little cone. Stable in the carafe and made of pretty solid plastic. Only one issue. drips slowly even when I pull the side out to break the "vacuum". Also ordered the Frieling USA Colio porcelain version (the RSVP was going to be put in the camper) but after one use of the Cilio, it will be going back. We found a hairline crack from the top to the bottom after one use.
The RSVP is a good cone for the price and makes a good, slow cup of Joe. I challenge anyone to try and beat the price of $9.12!
The Cilio cost $24.47. We also found it to be a bit tippy on our stainless carafe.
Buy the RSVP. Seriously.

I bought this drip cone to use when camping. Not backpacking, just car camping. It sits directly on top of a thermal carafe or airpot or thermos and brews directly into the vessel. It fits rock steady on top with the flange/ tube arrangement and it has made perfect coffee for me. Use a #6 paper cone filter and coffee that is not too finely ground. Simple, great coffee. This is so much easier than a percolator on a persnickety camp stove. It can make more coffee faster than a french press. Clean up is a cinch. This product is absolutely perfect if you want to brew into a narrow top container.

I read the other reviews but I had no problems at all with it not draining fast enough. This product did not need any alterations or anything else. It worked great from the first attempt. My coffee was ground very coarse to work in a french press. I'd suggest a little finer grind than that, but not too much finer.

The RSVP cone filter is exactly what I wanted and works perfectly for my purpose.

I recently received this ordered from Amazon. It does work with the Pods, although the pods I bought Senseo French Vanilla were vile. I had to throw it out, although it was a strong cup of coffee. Nothing to do with the pod holster...the coffee was terrible. The best use I found was for the cover of the holster. Wash out a regular k-cup, fill it with your own coffee, line up the hole, cover with the top of the pod holster, brew on small cup...and viola a fairly decent cup of coffee! That will probably be my primary use for it now.

The EZ-Cup system works great!

From day one (including my first atempt) I have had NO problems (including those sited in other reviews).

Add the amount of coffee to taste... Follow the directions and it works great. From start to finish preparing the EZ-Cup for brewing does not take more than an extra minute over popping in a K-Cup. Cleanup time is exactly the same as K-Cup.

Filters are sort of pricey, but still significantly less than K-Cup, plus you can drink the coffee you prefer, the way you like.

I recommend purchasing this product.

Nice little contraption if you want to use less expensive pods in your Keurig Brewer. It's simple and easy to use. Just gently form the pod into a mushroom cap like shape and put into the holster and cover with the lid. Pop into your Keurig brewer and you're set. One drawback is if you remove the cup and then open the top to remove the holster, any coffee left in the holster drips into the drip tray.

This EZ-Cup holster is great, you do need to order the EZ-cup paper refills to use with this product, you need only one and use the coffee of your choice, I like to use what I have always used, works great with my B40 Keurig coffee maker.

I have followed the instructions closely and brewed about 14 cups of coffee so far to give it a fair try. About 3/4 of the time the bottom of the filter has "blown-out" and grounds get blasted out the bottom of the filter into my cup. I have tried coarse grinds, packing loosely, etc. Can not seem to get the filters to hold up. I am using a Breville machine. I think that at the end of the brew, where it gives you a little blast of air, the pressure is putting too much stress on the filters and they just rip at the bottom. I will be going back to the filter baskets. It's a good idea...maybe the quality of the filters has fallen off?

OK... Many folks have already said this. but it's worth repeating. All thermo carafes require you to 'charge' them with hot water so as to condition them just prior to turning it on. If you are too lazy to 'temper' your thermos, then yes, it will only give you lukewarm coffee. Don't buy this unit if you need to set it up the night before so it kicks on in the morning before you get up. Do your homework!!! I had the cheap Black and Decker Thermo unit and its nothing like my new Cuisinar. Worth every penny!

"It's plastic, with a hole in it." 2010-04-30

I bought this on a whim. I saw it on my local grocery store's shelf right below the #2 Melitta cone filters it requires. I grabbed it with not much thought or fanfare. When I got home, I washed it, turned on my water kettle and ground up some beans.

As I began pouring the hot water into my grounds, I literally had one of those V-8 moments *bonk*. This method is exactly what I do sometimes with my coffee pot... On occasion I will sometimes use my drip coffee maker to make a cup or two using this exact pour-over method. Look at the picture again. It is not much different than any normal basket on any number of coffee makers out there. Just slice off the bottom and - voila!

So anyway, impulse got the better of me again. That's not to say however that it's a bad product but I don't think it garners a 5 star rating. It's just a coffee basket made to sit on a coffee cup. I will continue to mainly use my automatic drip. When I want better tasting coffee I will use the pour over method with my drip maker and my 10,000 filters I already have. When I want really GREAT coffee without having to wait-pour-wait...I'll continue to use my French press.

Overall, it's not bad and it's not great. It's just okay. As long as you understand that it's not going to make you do back-flips over a great cup of coffee, go for it. At two bucks what is there to lose?

Melitta Natural Brown Filters claim that they enhance the flavor of the coffee and I must say they really do! I am a big coffee drinker and I loathe the taste of acidic, burnt coffee. These filters allow for the full flavor of the coffee to come through. Another great feature of these filters is that they are very durable. I have yet to rip or tear a filter during use or disposal. None of the coffee grounds find their way through the filter and when used in conjunction with the single cup coffee brewer, or "Ready Set Joe," you have a fast and easy way to enjoy a great cup of coffee (provided you use a quality coffee, Eight O'clock brand anyone?!?). I am not employed by Melitta or any company which sales its products, I'm just a fan. To sum things up, these filters are a great buy and I highly recommend them, enjoy!

When it does come to a good cup of coffee, it always can be hard to find a great filter and a way to place it on top of a single coffee cup. While it might be hard to find ones that can work well, without the use of a simple coffee maker, fortunately for Melitta they definitely have known the best and simplest way to have the use of ground cups of coffee in just a single cup. The Perfect Brew Filter Cone handles well, where you just place a single Filter Cone with a #2 filter on top of your favorite coffee cup, put the filter in, add your favorite kind of ground coffee into the filter, and pour hot water, and let the feeling of the cup of coffee drip in just through a matter of minutes. It is simple and convient to use, with a inexpensive price. So if you just want a simple cup of ground coffee of any flavor, this is definitely the best way to go. I love using it everyday in the morning when I have my morning cup, and it definitely is worth the money, without using one of those over-the-top expensive coffee makers. This used to be a good product...before they put holes in the side. I assume they did it because some idiot couldn't figure out how much water to pour in. Well, the coffee is cold by the time it finishes brewing. I gave it three stars only because it is the only product like this I could find out there. I try to cover the wholes with aluminum foil, but it's a hassle.

This notes it's appropriate for one cup, but the cone is too small to hold enough water to steep a full cup. I have to pour water into the cone three times to fill up my cup (it would be two if I took milk in my coffee, I think).

Seems like poor design. It would be much more useful--and I would love it if--I could fill up the cone, let it steep, then drink my coffee. But now I'm left to hover over it.

This machine is quiet! The only sound heard is the coffee brewing! I have the older "600XL" as well- the 600XL is noisy. This 700XL is a great improvement. This is the Breville model with the "ice coffee" function. Be advised that this function brews a few ounces of hot/ strong coffee. I recommend adding your sugar or sweetner while its still hot- it disolves better. I seem to use less sugar this way. Then pour the hot coffee over ice- be careful that your glass can take the temperature change! Add cream or milk if desired. This makes a wonderful iced coffee! The aroma and flavor are second to none. Depending on the type of coffee you use- it tastes as good as any coffee shop iced coffee. The regular hot coffee brew function is excellent! I give it a "buy it" rating! Enjoy!

The Breville makes great coffee, and it can be programmed to turn itself on in the morning and off at night.

It is quiet, holds a lot of water, and does what Breville claims. There is NO mess with a Keurig coffee maker, and I think Breville is the best Keurig coffee maker.

I love the convenience, the taste of the coffee, the look of machine, and everything else about it EXCEPT that my machine keeps turning off like others mentioned. I replaced the first at the store with no hassel and was thinking it was just a single defective unit. Then the 2nd machine did the same thing however, it is recoverable after cycling the power. But this is still VERY annoying and certinaly not what one would expecet for a unit at this price. I contacted Breville through e-mail and was told I could replace it through the mail but they had no units in stock and needed to wait two months (around May 2010). I queried them to see if they expected the new batch to have problems and the indication was that the problem was getting fixed. I am waiting optimistically.

I, too, have been plagued by the constant shutting off of the unit due to a faulty water pump or poor design. I actually purchased a Keurig B70 a few months ago, and while it worked great for a week or so, it started having the water pump/auto shut-off issue. Contacted Keurig and they sent out a replacement fairly quickly (they did not wait to receive my faulty unit). New unit came, same issue. Contacted Keurig again, and they sent another B70. Same issue. This happened with 3 new units. Finally contacted Keurig again and asked for a refund due to their inability to make a product that works. The manager was nice, and offered an upgrade to the Breville BKC700XL, stating that it didn't have the problems of the B70. I accepted the offer.

A few weeks later, the Breville BKC700XL is having the exact same issue. After brewing a cup, the unit can't seem to take in water from the reservoir and so shuts off. When I turn the unit back on, the unit is able to take in water from the reservoir after 30 seconds or so. However if you forget to turn the unit back on immediately then it means you'll need to wait 3 minutes or so for the water to heat. Very annoying.

Contacted Breville, and got a much different customer service experience. First off, they are out of the unit so can't even send a replacement. Second, they will only send a replacement AFTER they receive your faulty unit. So as another reviewer mentioned, this means being without a coffee maker for over a week.

So my recommendation is to avoid all current Keurig/Breville K-cup coffee makers as they are extremely unreliable and not designed/manufactured well. Do your research on the internet and you'll discover as I did that this is a common issue.

The fact that the Breville BKC700XL retails for $250.00 and works so poorly is shocking.

Purchased the Breville BKC700XL after reading several great reviews. I was planning to buy the Keurig maker until I read other reviews listing a few problems with those. I purchased it for my husband's birthday because he has wanted a single serve maker for quite a while and I had held him off due to the cost of the maker and the k-cups. I think I like it more than he does. It is very simple to use and is made very well. I like the cup sizes and can brew a cup in my tall travel mug to take on the way to work. It comes with a reusable filter cup that stores in the coffeemaker so you can use regular coffee in it as well. I haven't found any drawbacks thus far other than it is a bit expensive. I would recommend this product to a friend.

In 2004 the Bodum Chambord coffee press received the American Culinary Institute's award for best French press coffeemaker.

The American Culinary Institute judges food preparation products such as mixers, waffle makers, and electric teakettles. These products are judged on criteria important to consumers such as ease-of-use, safety, and the quality of the food produced. The institute also judges food preparation products used in restaurants and hotels, including institutional mixers, large-volume coffee machines, and food slicers.

Instructions for Use

1. Place pot on a dry, flat, nonslip surface. Hold handle firmly, then pull the plunger straight up and out of the pot.

2. For each 1.25-deciliter/4-ounce cup, put 1 rounded tablespoon or 1 Bodum scoop of coarse-ground coffee into the pot.

Caution: Use only coarse-ground coffee. Fine grind can clog the filter and create high pressure. Place coffee maker on a heatproof, nonslip surface.

3. Pour hot (not boiling) water into the pot. Leave a minimum of 2.5 centimeters/1 inch of space at the top. Stir the brew with a plastic spoon.

Caution: Metal spoons can scratch or chip the glass beaker and cause breakage.

4. Place the plunger unit on top of the pot. Turn lid to close off the pour spout opening. (Does not apply to the Brazil models.) Do not press down. Let the coffee brew for at least 4 minutes.

5. Hold the pot handle firmly, with the spout turned away from you, then using just the weight of your hand, apply slight pressure on top of the knob to lower the plunger straight down into the pot. Lowering the plunger slowly with minimal pressure produces best results. If the filter clogs or it becomes difficult to push down the plunger you should remove the plunger from the pot, stir the brew, and then slowly plunge again.

WARNING: Using excessive force can cause scalding liquid to shoot out of the pot.

6. Turn the lid to open the pour spout and then pour coffee.

7. Unscrew the filter assembly and clean the plunger unit after each use. All parts are dishwasher-safe.

Company History

In 1944 Peter Bodum, the father of today's owner, Joergen Bodum, started Bodum in Copenhagen. Times were difficult at the end of World War II; there was hardly any trade and people were out of work. Peter Bodum managed to wholesale a very small variety of housewares products by Danish manufacturers.

After the war Peter Bodum got an import license for kitchen and tabletop products; he traveled all over Europe and ended up importing kitchen and housewares to Denmark. As in the rest of Europe in those days, a lack of products in Denmark meant a market existed for almost anything to be sold. He specialized in glassware from Eastern Europe.

In the '50s Peter Bodum started developing his own products. He collaborated with the Danish architect Kaas Klaeson for a range of coffeemakers. At the time, industrial-design-type kitchen products were very rare. The first Bodum product to hit the market in 1958 was the Santos coffeemaker--based on a vacuum coffee brewing system. It became an instant sensation not only in Denmark but in all of Europe. Bodum still produces the original Santos design to this very day.

Bodum grew steadily during the '60s, but sadly, in 1967, at the age of only 57, Peter Bodum passed away. His wife managed the company until 1974, when she offered her 26-year-old son Joergen to join her in the management of the company. Joergen quickly brought on board Carsten Joergensen--then a teacher at the Danish School of Art in Copenhagen--and soon put him in charge of overall design for Bodum, including everything from products to corporate design, exhibitions, shops, buildings, catalogs, and advertising. It turned out to be a very long and fruitful collaboration. The two men began to fulfill Bodum's credo--"good design doesn't have to be expensive"--in lots of different ways.

In 1974 the first fruit of Joergen and Carsten's collaboration was introduced: the French coffee press Bistro. It was also the first incorporation of the new Bodum design language--beautiful simplicity and excellent materials for everyday life. Many more variations of coffee presses followed. Since 1974 Bodum has produced over 50 million French presses, taken the leap from "coffee" to "kitchen," and developed and produced a large variety of beautiful household and tabletop designs.

In 1979, when he took over the company, Joergen Bodum decided to move to Switzerland in order to be more centrally located in Europe. He chose the Lucerne area, where Bodum's head office has been located since the early '80s.

In 1980 Bodum Switzerland and its design unit, Pi-Design, were founded. Then, in 1986, the opening of Bodum's first shop in London marked another milestone in the Bodum history. It was designed not only to be the perfect showcase for the large variety of Bodum products but to embody an even stronger presentation of Bodum as an international brand. Many more shops in many more cities all over the world followed: Paris, Copenhagen, Zurich, Lucerne, Tokyo, New York, Dallas, Okinawa, Auckland, and many more. To this day there are 52 Bodum stores worldwide.

With more and more of its own stores in place, Bodum continued broadening its collection of beautifully designed everyday life products--from kitchen to home. I bought the Bodum New Kenya 17-Ounce Coffee Press, Black 17 oz Bodum Kenya (next to smallest) coffee press for my son as a gift. We shared it together while he was in town. We both loved the less acidic coffee. It takes more grounds, but the coffee is closer to expresso in strength but lacking the bitterness. So you can dilute. The 17 oz size is great for individuals or not heavy consumers of coffee. I liked the press so much I think I will get one for myself, maybe the next size up for me. The glass appears fragile, but with care in handling it should last just fine. Another note- we didn't see that you would "have" to use coarse grinds, we tried both coarse and automatic drip grinds. I might have rated it higher but as a gift it was soon gone- I think he loves it.

a "US cup" is 8oz, and a "european cup" is 4oz, so you can at least use the Bodum website to find the model number for the correct size for your press, then just search for that model number on Amazon and you're all set.

I have the Rattleware 20-Ounce Latte Art Milk Frothing Pitcher, Rattleware 5-Inch Easy Steam S10, and the DeLonghi BAR32 Retro Pump-Driven 35 ounce Espresso Maker. I find that the thermometer dial is too large for the particular combination of equipment that I am using. I do like the thermometer, but when I use the clip to keep it in place, it reduces the space for the steaming wand on the espresso maker and makes the process feel "cramped". I would recommend this for a wider mouth frothing pitcher unlike the one I purchased. Easy to read, and from what I can tell, accurate.

I make one single cappuccino every morning and wanted a thermometer to get an idea of when the milk was at the optimum temperature. I thought once I figured it out with the thermometer, I'd then dispense with the thermometer and just rely on the duration and the sound of the steaming. This thermometer might work for a very large quantity of milk and a very weak flow of steam, but in my case the milk comes to a full boil long before the thermometer registers even a few degrees of temperature increase. I tried it with more milk. In no case did the thermometer quickly register the temperature increase; it slowly rose for about a minute after the milk began to boil. It worked better with greater quantities, but the milk always boiled long before the thermometer registered 140 degrees. With 1/3 cup of milk, which is what I use for my coffee, the thermometer is totally useless; I'd get the same result by sticking a ballpoint pen in the pitcher.

I like it. However, for my favorite 12 oz pitcher the stem is a bit to long and the clip is to large. It is still usable but suits better a 20 oz pitcher.

Pros: The dial is very clear and convenient. There is a mark on it when to stop steaming - and voilá - the pointer really "lands" in the middle of the green zone indicating the optimal temperature.

Cons: It must be calibrated. Instructions are printed on the plastic stem cover sleave. Reticent as they are, they were partly damaged. It was quite confusing to read "Slip calibration tool onto stem with hex nut recess toward theromomete .... (missing)", especially because the tool is not included. It should be ordered separately Rattleware Thermometer Calibration Tool or in a set, for instance Rattleware 97110 5-Inch Thermometer Kit, Easy Steam S10. Yet, I guess, I managed to calibrate it without the tool, just by holding the clip and turning the dial.

OK, you sneeze and they break. Only reason I bought another was because they keep breaking. Wanting French Press coffee this creates something of a deal with the devil. I suggest buying a press AND a replacement right away.

Now, if Bodum wanted to do something NICE, they could create a plexiglass beaker that fits the rest of the parts. Of course, then they couldn't keep selling replacements.

I have owned my Keurig for over 4 years and have never found any coffee that could compare to my regular perked kind. As another customer said I also used mine just for tea. I saw the Caribou blend at Costco in 80 K cup size and gave it a try. It's the smoothest and best tasting coffee I have ever had. I actually prefer it to regular brewed. By the way, it is less than $33.00 for 80 of them at Costco, much cheaper than any where else.

I've been using these regularly for the past two years or so as a weekend treat. I combine one cup of a regular Senseo coffee with one cup of the cappuccino coffee and enjoy the result as a cheaper-than-Starbucks, fewer-calories-than-latte morning drink. I had been buying the product locally, but have been unable to find the product for the last six months or so. Having recently ordered a Senseo machine, and finding that the various regular coffee pods produce great tasting cups, we ordered the Cappucino variety. We are very disappointed with the weak flavor (even with using only the 1-cup setting, whereas the directions call for dual cups) and the "mess" that results. After brewing there always is quite a lot of milky excess fluid sloshing around the pod container. The extra cleaning effort required each time eliminates the convenience benefit of this product, though the weak flavor alone means we'll not buy it again.

On the positive side, the other varieties we have tried are great (more or less). Get a Senseo. Don't get the Cappuccino Pods!

After reading other purchasers' reviews of the this coffeemaker, I almost did not buy it. The most common complaint was that coffee leaked out from the sides of the spout when pouring. I took a chance and bought the coffeemaker anyway. As it turns out, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the top, or spout. When you put the top on it is supposed to "snap" in place. When you put it together properly, it works perfectly. Most important of all, it makes a great cup of coffee!

I bought this little guy for work, and, though it swiftly brews wonderful-smelling coffee, the flavor is just plain off. I don't know if it's the steel carafe (I've used only glass carafes before) or if there's something screwy with the way the coffee brews, but the flavor is flat out disappointing. Someone suggested in another review that the coffee's flavor has a plastic tinge, and it may be that, I guess. Coffee reacting with something else. Chemical. Unpleasant. I'm buying a replacement. Oh, and the lid leaks! Hold the carafe and your cup over the sink or a garbage can so you don't dribble coffee on your carpet or toes.

I've had this coffee maker for a few months now to use at my desk at work. As with everyone else, I suffered from the dreaded coffee spillage issue, where it would run down the side of the carafe as you pour and get all over my desk. I found a solution though - when you pour, rest the spout of the carafe over the lip of your cup (and don't pour too fast). If you do this, any dribbles that cling to the underside of the spout will run down the inside of your cup instead of down the side of the carafe. If the spout is in mid-air, I 100% of the time would get spillage. As long as the spout is resting and hanging over the edge of the lip, I get 0% spillage.

So that fixes my #1 peeve with this thing. My other peeve, is that it's kind of noisy. If don't use the entire carafe up in your cup and let it stay on the hot plate, the thing makes all sorts of steamy gurgly noises, so I usually just shut it off after I pour my first cup. Even though the carafe isn't insulated, it seems it stays hot enough so that when I freshen up my cup its still hot enough to enjoy. I drink my coffee pretty quickly though.

After reading so many complaints and negative reviews about this product, I was skeptical but attracted to its features so decided to risk the purchase. Well, it's been almost 4 months since I've owned it and I use it daily to make only one or up-to-4 cups. I also use it to brew tea and prepare water for hot cereal. It's easy to use, sleek, stylish, lightweight and takes up very little space on my countertop. I haven't had any issues with pouring, filling or removing/securing the lid and I like the 30-minute auto-shut off feature. This machine makes great coffee hot and fast but unlike a glass container, the steel prevents me from SEEING what's inside the pot. However, I can tell when the coffee is ready when I no longer hear it steaming the water. Also, the inside of the steel carafe has become discolored from use. All-in-all, I LOVE this coffeemaker and highly recommend it. However, I also purchased the gold-toned permanent filter to use with it but found it too stains easily plus retains the smell of the coffee no matter how many times I've washed it so I went back to using the paper filters.

This machine is just what we were looking for. There is virtually no daily maintenance....just keeping the water tank filled. We were looking for a machine that we could make a single cup of coffee without making more than we needed. This machine makes excellent coffee and we can make only 1 cup at a time with no wasted coffee/beverage. Finding the coffee discs is a bit problematic, since there are only a few stores that carry the T-discs. Would like to see more stores offering the T-discs.

The coffee brewer was damaged in shipping. Therefore its difficult to be specific in my review. I will say that it hadn't been damaged, I still wouldn't have considered it "Like New". It did say the box was missing, but it didn't have the manual either. A new filter was missing and some verbiage such as "preinstalled", just meant "used". I don't know what the criteria is for the various conditions. Perhaps something could be delveloped that lets a buyer (and the seller?) know the difference between "Like New", "excellant" or "good" condition. Shame on me if there already is! This seller immediately renegotiated the price to my satisfaction. Since this was her first sale, and she was ameniable to my feedback and responded very quickly in delivery and making ammends, I'd give her another chance.

I researched a lot of coffee brewers before I decided on the Bosch Tassimo. The best part about it is there's no guess work. The bar code tells the brewer what to do, you just put a cup underneath and press the button!
The only complaint I have with this maker is that they don't have a descent hot chocolate. The hot chocolates they offer are bland and just not chocolatey enough.
As for the coffee's, haven't had one I don't like yet. Best thing is, I'm a huge Starbuck's fan.... now I can make Starbuck latte at home.. woohoo! And with Torrani syrups, my flavored latte possibilities are endless!
Love this machine!

Someone gave us a frother similar to this one a few years ago, and we lost it. Then we missed it, so we replaced it with this one whick seems a little better quality than the first one. Yes, I have used it to froth warm milk for coffee, and it works fine; frothing actually seems to make the coffee taste smoother and better. But this gadget can do many more things, like emulsifying my vinaigrette, quick-mixing a cocktail,or anything else that calls for an energetic, tiny whisk.

I didn't think frothing skim milk would actually work, but it most certainly does. I like to use light cream, so my frother burns through batteries a bit faster than normal because of the thickness. I use rechargables, so it's not a big deal for me. Cleaning is a breeze. Rinse, twirl, done.

I started to drink loose leaf teas lately and have realized that instead of going to local chain for my chai lattes, I could make my own. So I have been drinking them at home and at work and realized I needed a second milk frother so I didn't have to bring it back and forth all the time.

The original one I own was a gift and I have no idea where it came from. At least I found out what brand it was after my Aerolatte started failing.
I have a Melitta frother that was powerful and lasted a long time on batteries and thought I may try to find one here and if there was a better one. I read the reviews and decided to try this one.

I have used it a few times and noticed that it's nowhere near as powerful so I changed the batteries. It was decent and within a week, the speed cut down a lot. It didn't really froth so much as stir but even my previous unit still holds up better.

Now I will tell you how I used it since it was not the 'traditional' way.

I make my chai, add honey and start stirring with the frother in it. I slowly add creamer and then bring the frother to the top to start the frothing.
The Aerolatte is slowed a lot by the liquid which may make sense since some of you may say that it's only for the milk when you have it seperated and heated.

All I can say is, that if my Melitta was able to handle it and keep going, I would expect more from Aerolatte than just a week of use to just run out of juice.

I'm also not thrilled with the placement of the switch. It's hard to turn on and off with one hand and it's not smooth. The awkwardness leads to spills as I tried to turn it off while in the liquid as opposed to taking it out to get better grip to slide the power switch.

I'd rather have a button that does 3 modes: On while you hold button halfway, Stays On after fully pressing button, and Off.
This unit is not as easy to use nor anywhere near as convenient.

I'm sending mine back as I can't afford to change batteries every week.
Yes, I thought about buying a rechargable battery charger devoted to charging the batteries for this item, but that would have cost more than this unit is worth by a lot. In the end, no matter if I would keep changing the rechargeable batteries, it still would be weaker and simply not worth it when compared to my Melitta.
When I go the rechargeable route, I will do it with a better and more powerful frother and thus enjoy it for longer.

I normally don't write bad reviews but maybe this could help someone think twice.
Many people seem happy with this unit and I am happy for them.
Sadly, my experience was not as good.

In the end, your experience with this unit may vary, but if you do take a chance on this, I at least hope your experience is a good one.

I loved using it, and it was everything it claimed to be. Unfortunately, after about five months of frequent use (at least 3 times a day), it stopped working. I've used new batteries, of course, and even put aluminum foil in to increase the contact. It seemed to be a question of the contacts because sometimes, if I pushed hard on the top, it worked. I've given up. Might still buy another, but I do think there's a problem.

This is really a great product. It has save me hundreds of dollars (over time) in not having to buy Frappes from the coffee store. It is also fun to make up new combinations of drinks, not only Frappes but other blended drinks that use coffee. For instance I love a milk shake type mixture that also includes coffee (i.e. not using ice but just ice cream, flavoring and milk). The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the blending process does not break up the ice real well. I usually have to wait until the regular process ends then take the container off the base - shake it up - put it back and use the blender button. I usually have to do this several times in order to get the ice to get broken up enough. Otherwise it is a great product.

My wife and I use this every... single... day! It's very easy to use and we love the ability to put the ingredients in the cafe frappe and then walk away while it does its thing. It is also a perfect way to make great tasting protein drinks in the morning. Put in the coffee, add some fresh fruit to the ice and add your protein powder for a big-time easy breakfast replacement/supplement. For the first time, we don't taste the powder.

The only con is if you add a bit too much ice and milk/water/etc., it can have a tendency to spurt some of the excess liquid out of the small hole in the lid. It doesn't make a huge mess, but it can come out when the blender pulses. Either tinker with the amount of ice and liquid to get the right amount or just slide a napkin over the top of the hole in the lid after the coffee has finished dripping into the blender. Problem solved.

Love this unit!

I thought this machine would be a godsend as I was spending a fortune at starbucks so i was thrilled,after dropping hints, to receive one for my birthday.
I read thru the set up instructions and waited with baited breath. My better half had even built a special shelf for it as i did not want it taking up any of my precious counter top space. I loaded it with ingredients and turned it on .
How quiet it was, for the first few minutes barely a sound. THEN! OMG!! the blending cycle kicked in, it sounded like a lawn mower with several rocks caught up in it and what was that terrible high pitched screaming ???
I have blenders that are ice crushers so i know what that sound is, but this thing was twice the volume of my cuisinart blender. The high pitched screaming was Simone my Lhasa apso who is absolutely petrified by the sound of this machine, Her hang out spot in the kitchen is next to the washing machine so she is not adverse to appliance noise or vibration and I thought maybe with time she would acclimate but no she was having none of it .I have to say it made me jump out of my skin a couple of times when it switched to the second cycle also.
Now back to the results it did an OK job , but its a pity half of it gets sprayed around onto the machine and anything else surrounding it. After mopping up I served up the concoction which was delicious Kind of an annoying amount not quite enough for two servings but delicious never the less. I gave Simone a mild sedative and threw away several coffee soaked rags. I read through the instructions again assuming it must have been a stupid error on my part.
.Episode 2 produced similar results and a very perturbed canine,then I had an epiphany,I decided to move the machine to our ground floor cloakroom to avoid the shank eye simone had been throwing my way all day, I also draped tea towels over the machine so it could not spray out this time . I set it up next to the sink and plugged it in. For some reason that cloakroom has very good soundproofing,for which I'm sure my pet was eternally grateful . I turned it on and closed the door and went about some other tasks before remembering that I should go back and see if third time was a charm.
I could not believe my eyes, the machine lay on its side in the sink the jug empty on the floor the mirror, the sink,the vanity , the walls - all four , the sets of hand towels the beautiful designer rug and the benchseat and the two tea towels i had used as a splash guard all saturated with frappa mix!!!!!! one hours cleanup later and with not a dissenting voice in the house we decided it had outstayed its welcome and it was promptly returned to Walmart. i did in fact try it several more times and although we had no more roll overs it still sprayed out way to much . A poorly constructed machine not sufficiently weighted to balance the ice crushing process, poorly designed jug, etc etc. as someone else already said use your blender instead.Very disappointing, not recommended unless you are a hard of hearing heir to a papertowel fortune!!!Simone gave it zero paws and has taken out a restraining order against this model.

Beware, the blender frightens you upon first using it as it starts up immediately upon completion of the brewing. I agree with most of the 4 & 5 star reviews. The only think I'd like to add is that it does well with the MOCAFE mixes suggested by amazon. But watch those calories. I suggest substituting a little to save on the calorie/fat content.

I love this machine! It is so easy to make delicious iced coffee drinks at home. It is a little loud when grinding the ice but everything else makes up for it.

Not an expert by any means but am very frugal. Loath to pay retail prices for something I can make myself so this fit me. Didnt grow up in Italy so not as familiar with this as others may be but I am particular with quality products. That said, I didnt have any leaking as others have had with this product. I am not adept at making consistent products as of yet but am learning. I now understand what others have said about the built in tamper - just doesnt work well. Whether it has to be made of metal or independent of the machine, I plan on purchasing the tamper at the bottom of everyone's page for around $7. I also plan on purchasing a frothing pitcher as well, the wand is annoyingly too close to the countertop. Small complaints - the machine does what it does well. I like the removeable water tank. It seems to me to make a perfect espresso. Possibly my standards are not as high as others but I dont reach for my wallet every time I want a cappuccino either. If you want a better taste buy a better bean.

This machine is a decent Espresso machine for the price tag. I wish it had a stronger frother but I've made it work with a few adjustments. My husband and I drink very strong coffee let alone espresso and I read prior to buying this that it made a weak espresso which, is both true and false. You do have to pack it correctly and use a good espresso. My husband is Puerto Rican and we drink Bustelo for both regular coffee and I use it in our espresso machine and it tastes great. I would suggest setting it on something as it is a little short and the cups I have don't fit under the frother while it's sitting on the counter. I found a board my son decorated and it sits on that so my cups can easily be slid under the frother without spilling. I also wipe the frother with a damp cloth after using it helps keep it clean. Over all I'm happy with the machine and it's made good espresso for us with the espresso we use.

I have been drinking espresso for a long time and I have had a number of espresso makers. This one make very weak espresso! I have tried experimenting with the grind, with the time for heating, with the amount of the water - in short, I really tried to make a decent espresso with this machine, and I cannot do it. Maybe it is possible, as some of the reviewers say, but at this point, it is far more trouble than I am willing to put in (I already put in more trouble that I wanted to). I recommend that buy some other espresso maker with a larger reservoir for grounds, with a better heating device... something. Don't buy this one.
