Great Thoughts of Vivekananda

Happiness and Misery

2012-03-22T01:59:00.001-07:00

After every happiness
comes misery;
they may be
far apart or near.
The more advanced
the soul,
the more quickly does
one follow the other.
What we want is
neither happiness
nor misery.
Both make us forget our
true nature

Religion

2012-03-08T23:26:00.000-08:00

All who have actually
attained any
real religious experience
never wrangle over
the form in which
the different religions are
expressed.

They know that the soul
of all religions is
the same and so
they have no quarrel
with anybody just
because
he or she does not
speak in the same tongue.

Truth

2012-03-08T23:21:00.001-08:00

All truth is eternal.
Truth is nobody’s property;
no race, no individual
can lay any
exclusive claim to it.
Truth is the nature of all souls.

Who is God - Its you

2012-03-07T01:22:00.001-08:00

All that is real in me is God;
all that is real in God is I.
The gulf between God and
human beings is thus
bridged.
Thus we find how,
by knowing God,
we find the
kingdom of heaven
within us.

Power of You

2012-03-06T07:04:00.000-08:00

All power is within you.
You can do anything and
everything.
Believe in that.
Do not believe
that you are weak;
do not believe that you are
half-crazy lunatics,
as most of us
do nowadays.
Stand up and express
the divinity within you.

Mind - The Library of Universe

2012-03-05T06:48:00.001-08:00

All knowledge
that the world has
ever received
comes from the mind,
the infinite
library of the universe
is in our own mind.

Stream of life

2012-03-05T06:44:00.000-08:00

A tremendous stream is
flowing toward the ocean,
carrying us all along with it;
and though like straws
and
scraps of paper
we may at times
float aimlessly
about,
in the long run
we are sure to join
the Ocean of
Life and Bliss.

The Performer

2012-03-05T02:38:00.000-08:00

A few heart-whole,
sincere, and energetic
men and women
can do more
in a year
than a mob
in a century.

Be a Hero

2012-03-05T02:33:00.000-08:00

“The earth is enjoyed by heroes”
this is the unfailing truth.
Be a hero.
Always
say,
“I have no fear.”

Comfort and truth

2012-03-05T02:30:00.000-08:00

“Comfort”
is no test of truth;
on the contrary,
truth is often far from being
“comfortable.”

Meaning of life

2012-03-05T02:24:00.000-08:00

I do not want to get
material life,
do not want the sense-life,
but something higher.
That is renunciation.
Then,
by the power of meditation,
undo the
mischief that has been done.

The thread of all

2012-03-05T02:20:00.001-08:00

I am the thread that runs
through all these pearls,
and each pearl is a religion
or
even a sect thereof. Such are
the different pearls, and
God is the thread that
runs through all of them;
most people, however,
are entirely unconscious of it.

The road not taken

2012-02-11T22:58:00.000-08:00

Think Different:
All differences in this
world are of degree,
and not of kind,
because oneness is the
secret of everything.

Being yourself

2012-02-04T02:00:00.000-08:00

Be Yourself:
The greatest religion
is to be
true to your own nature.
Have faith in yourselves!

Listen to your Heart

2012-02-04T01:58:00.000-08:00

Listen To Your Soul:
You have to grow
from the inside out.
None can teach you,
none can make
you spiritual.
There is no other teacher
but your own soul.

Ideal of life

2012-02-04T01:57:00.000-08:00

Uphold Your Ideals:
Our duty is to encourage
every one in his struggle
to live up to his
own highest idea, and
strive at the
same time to
make the ideal
as near as possible to the
Truth.

Vivekananda about money

2012-02-04T01:55:00.000-08:00

Help Others:
If money helps a man
to do good to others,
it is of some value;
but if not,
it is simply a
mass of evil, and
the sooner
it is got rid of, the better.

Live and let others live

2012-02-04T01:52:00.000-08:00

Don't Play The Blame Game:
Condemn none:
if you can stretch out a
helping hand, do so.
If you cannot,
fold your hands,
bless your brothers, and
let them go their own way.

Set yourself free

2012-02-04T01:51:00.000-08:00

Set Yourself Free:
The moment

I have realised God sitting
in the temple of
every human body,
the moment
I stand in reverence
before every human being and
see God in him -
that moment
I am free from bondage,
everything that
binds vanishes, and
I am free.

The way you feel

2012-02-04T01:48:00.000-08:00

It's The Way You Feel:

Feel like
Christ and you will be a Christ;
feel like Buddha and
you will be a Buddha.
It is feeling that is the life,
the strength, the vitality,
without which no amount
of intellectual activity
can reach God.

Life is Beautiful

2012-02-04T01:45:00.000-08:00

Life is Beautiful:
First, believe in this world -

that there is meaning behind
everything.
Everything in the world is good,
is holy and beautiful.
If you see something evil,
think that you
do not understand
it in the right light.
Throw the burden on yourselves!

Attitude

2012-02-04T01:42:00.000-08:00

It's Your Outlook
That Matters: It is our
own mental attitude,
which makes the world
what it is for us.
Our thoughts make
things beautiful,
our thoughts make
things ugly.
The whole world
is in our own minds.
Learn to see things in the
proper light.

Law of life

2012-02-03T23:19:00.000-08:00

Love Is The Law Of Life:
All love is expansion,
all selfishness is contraction.
Love is therefore the only law of life.
He who loves lives,
he who is selfish is dying.
Therefore,
love for love's sake,
because it is law of life,
just as you breathe to live.
