Bloggers For Life Need Protection - Protect Your Voice Campaign Kicks Off

ARRA News Service - Protect Your Voice: The Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity called on CPAC 2012 attendees to sign a petition that aims to grant bloggers the same legal protection journalists have. According to American Journalism Review's 2009 analysis there were 30 percent less statehouse reporters then compared to 2003. While their grant has not been renewed to do the study since then, any reporter can attest to the continued cutbacks by walking into a newsroom.

Fortunately, a new wave of energized reporters has been filling those vacancies out of passion - many unpaid. These bloggers are dedicated to informing their citizenry of its elected officials’ actions. They are addressing the threat to democracy.

Because of this, we believe they deserve the same protections as reporters in the court room. We aim to protect the bloggers that are reporting on acts of government as meticulously and honestly as the journalist sitting next to him or her at the press conference. Citizen Journalists and Bloggers should not be penalized for providing a valuable service to our country. Citizen Journalists and Bloggers in every state deserve to be included in the state’s shield laws and granted Freedom of the Press rights.

Father Pavone Rejects White House Compromise On Contraception

In a bold statement today, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, denounced the Department of Health and Human Services contraception and abortion ruling as an abomination that must be immediately repealed or rescinded because it violates everything our country stands for.

"Despite the alleged compromise or accommodation, this is NOT just about 'religious' employers being affected,” Father Pavone said. “This is about ALL Americans being forced to pay for something that may be directly opposed to their moral convictions. There are many non-religious reasons to object to the Obama Administration's policy. Chief among these is the basic American principle of freedom of conscience. That means the government must NEVER do ANYTHING that requires people to violate their conscience.

“For tens of millions of Americans, the abortion pill is utterly repugnant. Being forced to PAY for it -- that is, so it can be provided for FREE to anyone and everyone via health insurance policies -- is clearly an outrageous abuse of government power."

Planned Parenthood Founder Margaret Sanger And “The Multiplication Of The Unfit”

As she wrote in her autobiography, Sanger founded Planned Parenthood in 1916 “to stop the multiplication of the unfit.” This, she boasted, would be “the most important and greatest step towards race betterment.” While she oversaw the mass murder of black babies, Sanger cynically recruited minority activists to front her death racket. She conspired with eugenics financier and businessman Clarence Gamble to “hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities” to sell their genocidal policies as community health and welfare services.

Outright murder wouldn’t sell. But wrapping it under the egalitarian cloak of “women’s health” — and adorning it with the moral authority of black churches — would. Sanger and Gamble called their deadly campaign “The Negro Project.”

Planned Parenthood Director Supports Sex-Selection Abortions

The horrific, anti-Life remarks from Planned Parenthood directors were on full display as they celebrated the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. In an interview earlier this week, Angie Murie, executive director of Planned Parenthood Waterloo Region in Canada, was asked about sex-selection abortions. She said:

“I wrestle with gender-based abortion more than any other reason [for having an abortion]...From a macro perspective, I don’t think it is a good idea for us to be eliminating women. But if you look at it at the individual level, which is what we do, I don’t have any right to say that one person’s reason is better or worse than another’s.”

Susan G. Komen Org Reverses Position - Will Continue Funds to Planned Parenthood

Susan G. Komen for the Cure ‘Clarifies’ Grant-Making Policy
by Karla Dial: Just days after earning nationwide applause for severing its ties to Planned Parenthood, the breast cancer charity group Susan G. Komen for the Cure announced Friday it has revised its grant-making policy in a way that will allow the abortion megaprovider to remain eligible for funding.

After top board members resigned in protest and more than 50 liberal members of Congress complained, Komen founder Nancy Brinker issued a statement saying the group “will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political.” . . .

The Komen Foundation left unaddressed its other reason for the short-lived announcement that it would no longer fund Planned Parenthood: The abortion seller does not perform mammograms. Instead, it takes the money Komen provides and refers women to other clinics; until today, the Komen Foundation thought it would be more fiducially responsible to fund mammogram providers directly.

“It is truly unbelievable that the nation’s largest abortion provider has been able to take what has been considered one of America’s most well respected and beloved organizations and demonize it overnight for simply making their grants results-oriented. Planned Parenthood is putting their abortion ideology above the health of women,” said Jeanne Monahan, director of the Family Research Council’s Center for Human Dignity.

“It’s mystifying how an organization can fully articulate sound reasons for eliminating a funding relationship, then turn around and capitulate on that reasoning within days,” she said. “This is an example of how difficult it has become for organizations to take a morally principled stand. It’s also evidence of the strong-arm tactics employed by pro-abortion allies of Planned Parenthood. Komen would do well to remember who is it partnering with — a group that will stop at nothing to keep its funding.”

Austin Ruse, president of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, urged the life advocates who’ve been applauding Komen this week to take a wait-and-see approach.

“What happened this week was nothing short of a Mafia shakedown campaign by Planned Parenthood against the Susan G. Komen Foundation,” he said. “Planned Parenthood told the Komen Foundation ‘Either give us money or we will destroy you.’ They were aided and abetted in this hostage-taking by the mainstream media.

“At this point, pro-lifers should cease their support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. We know there are five more Komen grants to Planned Parenthood in the pipeline,” he concluded. “If any more come up, we will know we have lost and Planned Parenthood has won.” [Full Article]

Morally Challenged Secretary Sebelius Scraps Conscience Exception for Health Plans

Bill Smith, Editor, ARRA News Service: While the following shared article is rather long, there was no way I could in good conscious crop it. Why, because the article addresses those claiming to be social conservatives and to those who should be social conservatives based on their faith. Also, it applies to those seeking to be "moral beings."

Is it critical to ask what has brought our Nation to the point that Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Sebelius could even consider, let alone proceed with "scraping the conscience exception for health plans"? The Obama administration has again proceeded brazenly without apparent fear of retribution by the public at large or even by those who are morally offended by Sebelius' action.

The article's author addresses his first-hand view of the conflict within the Catholic Church which has aided the Obama administration's open challenge to the moral conscious of the church without fearing that such action could result in negative consequence from Catholic voters in November. If this article awakens people, it will have served a very good purpose, but that will not stop the questionable actions of the Obama administration.

Protestants on the other side of the church isle have the same problem within their ranks. In fact their less restrictive hierarchy, many even aid in their ignoring and / or failing to vote their moral conscious. Numerous Protestants like numerous Catholics have surrendered or subjugated their moral conscious to a man-created, and often perverted, social consciousness. Whenever one considers promoting death in the womb or in the hospital bed, or the re-engineering of marriage and the traditional family, or changing social structure to avoid alleged inconveniences "of life," they have lost their way to the liberal progressive agenda. That agenda then continues to expand to devour other individual beliefs and values like liberty, freedom, individual responsibility, pride, love of country, etc.

Within the Christian churches of America, thankfully there are those who have continually stood based on moral conscious based in Truth. Unfortunately, there are large numbers of "influential morally challenged people" who have gained access to power via the ballot box. These individuals do not permit themselves to be intellectually confronted by the morals of the church in any way that would stop them in their pursuit of social justice up to and including supporting death and harm to others. Consider these morally challenged individuals: Nancy Pelosi (Catholic), Kathleen Sebelius (Catholic) Harry Reid (Mormon), Chuck Schumer (Reformed Judaism), Hillary Clinton (Methodist), Barack Obama (Christianity/ Former Church of Christ), Joe Biden (Roman Catholicism). Tell me again, why are these people making decisions and taking actions that affect us and attack our moral conscious?

by Streiff (Diary), RedState : As the implementation of Obamacare rolls into high gear, we’ve been given insight into how it will be implemented in general. On January 20, the Department of Health and Human Services announced that it would not exempt health plans provided by non-profit religious employers from the requirement to provide “contraceptive services.”

… Today the department is announcing that the final rule on preventive health services will ensure that women with health insurance coverage will have access to the full range of the Institute of Medicine’s recommended preventive services, including all FDA -approved forms of contraception. Women will not have to forego these services because of expensive co-pays or deductibles, or because an insurance plan doesn’t include contraceptive services.

The category of “all FDA-approved forms of contraception” includes the abortifacients, like the “morning after pill.” At the same time I couldn’t help but note that the group of health plans provided by “non-profit religious employers” who do not support contraception winnows the field down rather quickly to those provided by either the Catholic Church or one of its social service or medical subsidiaries.

The best is yet to come.

By way of full disclosure, I’m Roman Catholic. I’m a convert who became Catholic with eyes wide open rather than a “cradle Catholic” who was born into the religion. As such I’ve never ceased to be amazed at the antics of many of our Church leadership. I write it off to equal parts cognitive dissonance and a pathological desire to be popular.

The Democrat party has been anti-Catholic in its political positions since George McGovern ran for president yet the priesthood and heirarchy of the Roman Catholic Church in America tend to hail from Democrat constituencies. So on the one hand the Magesterium is teaching very traditional social values while on the other it is embracing without even a hint of credulity every lefty scheme that comes down the pike.

For instance, in 1983, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops declared nuclear weapons to be immoral and weren’t terribly fond of deterrence either. By 1988 they had decided SDI was destabilizing as was the US linking a Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan to future arms treaties. When communist terrorists were trying to create a people’s paradise in El Salvador, many of our bishops ignored what was happening to personal liberty under the Sandinistas in Nicaragua as they stumbled over themselves to create the “sanctuary movement”.

Without putting too fine a point on it but there was no daylight between the position of the Magesterium and that of the Kremlin on these issues.

Not that they are all commies or anything. But there were MOVEMENTS out there that had freakin Pete Seeger singing protest songs and James Earl Jones and Ed Asner at their rallies. How could you not be in favor of these things?

Similar stampedes took place on global warming and immigration.

This is where the cognitive dissonance comes in. When given the choice between seeming to endorse a religious conservative for office and seeming to endorse a heterodox leftist there is no limit to the contortions a large share of our bishops won’t put themselves through to help the lefty. To wit: by the black letter of the Catechism of the Catholic Church supporting abortion is forbidden. If a public figure does so this failure is compounded by “scandal”, that is, an action that could cause others to question their faith. The fact that there are very few bishops in the nation who have taken steps to discipline pro-abort advocates and politicians especially when they proclaim themselves to be devout.

The second strain is the want to be liked. For most of American history, Catholics were THE OTHER. It was a foreign religion practiced by all manner of foreigners who either couldn’t speak English (Italians, Poles, etc.) or who could barely speak it (the Irish, it goes without saying). What other religion still has amendments to state constitutions directly aimed at its religious schools?

Just when things were going well with JFK (another devout Catholic) in the White House, he gets killed and the whole counter culture begins. If there was anything less cool in the 1960s than being in ROTC it was being a Catholic who believed in monogamy and abstinence until marriage not to mention avowing any religion that did not use mind altering drugs. Being cool is still important and despite his views on abortion Obama, that epitome of coolness, was invited to give a commencement address at a Catholic university.

This mindset was most egregiously on display during the 2008 election. The Catholic heirarchy — and I have to digress here for a moment to emphasize that we have many traditional bishops in this country who have fought the good fight for decades — wanted to catch the Hope-and-Change wave and had a problem: Barrack Obama loves him some abortion. Not just plain vanilla abortion. He is in favor of partial birth aboriton. He is in favor of killing a kid who happens to survive the abortion procedure.

Demonstrating again a contortionist skill that would gain them employment at any county fair in the country the bishops issued a document called “Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship.”

As first blush it looks like a strong statement in favor of life which would not have helped Obama, or any other elected Democrat for that matter, until one reads deeper.

34. Catholics often face difficult choices about how to vote. This is why it is so important to vote according to a well-formed conscience that perceives the proper relationship among moral goods. A Catholic cannot vote for a candidate who takes a position in favor of an intrinsic evil, such as abortion or racism, if the voter’s intent is to support that position. In such cases a Catholic would be guilty of formal cooperation in grave evil. At the same time, a voter should not use a candidate’s opposition to an intrinsic evil to justify indifference or inattentiveness to other important moral issues involving human life and dignity.

35. There may be times when a Catholic who rejects a candidate’s unacceptable position may decide to vote for that candidate for other morally grave reasons. Voting in this way would be permissible only for truly grave moral reasons, not to advance narrow interests or partisan preferences or to ignore a fundamental moral evil.

In other words if you feel like the opposition to the war in Iraq or midnight basketball or furthering the ends of labor unions or any other pet peeve are “morally grave reasons” you can vote for the pro-abort. And they got what they wanted: American Catholics gave a majority of their votes to Obama.

Then came Obamacare which gave the bishops a real taste of what happens when you create a moral equivalence between universal health care and abortion. You get them both.

As reported in the Wall Street Journal, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops was heartbroken and gobsmacked, or gobsmacked and heartbroken, when they got the bad news about the elimination of an exemption for religious conscience in health plans.

President Obama telephoned Archbishop Dolan on Friday morning to tell him of the decision, said a spokeswoman for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The pair had discussed the issue during a November meeting, during which the archbishop “got the message that they could work together,” said the spokeswoman, Sister Mary Ann Walsh.

The issue was likely to form the “backdrop to future relations,” she said. “It’s too big to ignore… the elephant is tramping around in the sanctuary.”

An administration official on Tuesday confirmed the call was made on Friday and reiterated comments made by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that the administration is committed to its partnerships with faith-based groups.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D., Conn.), a Catholic who supports abortion rights and access to contraception, said she thought the White House had handled the decision “very well” by being open to listening to religious leaders. “Contraception is about preventing unintended pregnancy,” she said. “I think that they did what they needed to do.”

So up until November Archbishop Dolan was being led to believe that he and the Obama Administration could work together and there would be a conscience exemption in the health care reform regulations and then he gets a call telling him that he’s been played for a chump.

It is really difficult to understate the cultural significance of this decision. If Congress doesn’t intervene and we end up with a pro-abort in the White House, which seems virtually certain regardless of how Obama fares in November, it is hard to see how this precedent will not be applied first to euthanasia, which seems to be the next big thing, and then to abortion. If left as it is, it really marks the end of independent churches in the United States.

The decision even managed to concern the Washington Post’s E. J. Dionne, another of the “smells and bells” Catholics on the left, or Catholycs as my friend Tom Crowe terms them, whose collective ass gets tired when confronted with the whole issue of morality.

One of Barack Obama’s great attractions as a presidential candidate was his sensitivity to the feelings and intellectual concerns of religious believers. That is why it is so remarkable that he utterly botched the admittedly difficult question of how contraceptive services should be treated under the new health care law.

His administration mishandled this decision not once but twice. In the process, Obama threw his progressive Catholic allies under the bus and strengthened the hand of those inside the Church who had originally sought to derail the health care law.

Breast Cancer Group Cuts Ties With Planned Parenthood

by Karla Dial, CitizenLink: Citing a new policy against giving funds to groups under government investigation, the breast-cancer charity organization Susan G. Komen for the Cure announced Tuesday it is curtailing its association with Planned Parenthood.

The group has been criticized for hypocrisy since its association with Planned Parenthood was first revealed in 2005. According to some researchers, there’s evidence of an increased risk of breast cancer after an abortion.

“While it is regrettable when changes in priorities and policies affect any of our grantees, such as a long-standing partner like Planned Parenthood, we must continue to evolve to best meet the needs of the women we serve and must fully advance our mission,” the Komen Foundation said in a statement. The group will reconsider resuming its relationship with Planned Parenthood if it is exonerated by Congress.

Over the last five years, the Komen foundation has been making grants to Planned Parenthood for breast health-screening programs — approximately $680,000 last year and $580,000 in 2010. According to Planned Parenthood, 19 of its affiliates have conducted more than four million breast exams, with 170,000 paid for by the Komen Foundation.

But some critics say the organization does not actually perform mammograms.

“Planned Parenthood has done substantial harm to women’s health,” said Karen Malec, president of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer. “Additionally, Planned Parenthood does not do mammograms, although President Cecile Richards has led the public to believe otherwise.”

The coalition was just one of many to applaud the Komen Foundation for its decision Wednesday.

One of those breast-cancer survivors is Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life.

“I applaud the decision made by the Komen Foundation to discontinue their partnership with the billion-dollar abortion mega-provider Planned Parenthood,” she said. “The work of the Komen Foundation has life-saving potential and should not be intertwined with an industry dealing in death.”

Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., launched the Planned Parenthood investigation last September after multiple reports — and videos — of employees apparently circumventing state and federal laws came to light. He asked the organization to provide internal audits from 1998 to 2010 showing how much federal money Planned Parenthood received and how it was spent, including if the government had to be reimbursed for improper billing to Medicaid, the federal-state healthcare program for the poor; state-level audits of the group or its affiliates going back 20 years; policy statements to certify there is no co-mingling of federal dollars in programs that fund abortions to Planned Parenthood’s clients; and explanations that convey the group’s procedures for reporting “criminal conduct,” to include statutory rape, sexual abuse, and suspected sex trafficking.

Starving "The Beast" -- Planned Parenthood

Dr. Bill Smith, Editor: While many are overcome and often focused (rightly so) on the horrors of abortions by Planned Parenthood, others have established efforts to stop these abortion mills. In the past, the pro-life movement demonstrated, held prayer vigils, rallies and marches on Washington, and developed exceptional educational material and ads to educate the public on life. All were important and are still very important.

Also the the establishment of "person-hood" for the baby in the womb is critical for the moral consciousness of the country and the right for life of each human regardless of their current state of habitation, either in the womb, in the crib or even at the end stages of their life.

However, to aid in stopping the major source of abortions in America - Planned Parenthood, we must focus on its lifeblood - money! While some have in the past and will in the future practice the evils of genocidal atrocities on earth, American citizens should not be asked to fund with their tax dollars these type actions. Consider the following two articles which evidence why Planed Parenthood is desperate for government tax money. Without government money, "the beast" would have a harder time funding their non-abortion activities which they use to mask their money making abortion activities.

The present messaging by the pro-life movement is clearly making a difference as identified in the following two articles. However, we must continue to push to stop "tax dollars" from being provided to "the beast."

The first article highlights that Planned Parenthood gets almost half of its money from tax money. Money that should be going to other critical government programs or returned to the taxpayers. it should not be used to support Planned Parenthood which commits millions from abortions. The beast uses the people's tax dollars to allegedly fund their non-abortion operations which provides them an air of civility and aids in getting people both in their doors and in imaging to access private donations. At this point in time, the receipt of public funds (tax dollars) has become more critical to Planned Parenthood as evidenced by the second article. The second article identifies that Planned Parenthood is has suffered from a loss of at least 28% in their private donations.

While all the pro-life efforts of the past and the recognition of the personhood of babies in the womb are very important, at this very critical nexus point, to stop all public funding (tax dollars) to "the beast," We must stop the funding of the efforts of Planned Parenthood which mask their abortion activities. This effort may not slay this "beast" but as it is starved of tax money, it will shrink in size and lives of future generations will be saved in the process.

Planned Parenthood has released its new annual report and the figures show the abortion business continues to make money despite its status as a nonprofit organization — and it receives almost half of its income from taxpayer dollars.

On December 27, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) released its latest Annual Report for 2009-2010. The report indicates PPFA had a total budget of $1.04 billion and an excess of revenue over expenses of 18.5 million dollars — a net profit.

The abortion business reports $513 million in current assets and $570 million in property, equipment and an endowment while showing $184 million in liabilities for buildings and other debts.

The new report also reveals 46 percent of the total PPFA budget comes from taxpayer dollars in the form of government funding. At the same time, just 21 percent of the income the abortion business brings in comes from private donors (it lists 528,000 active donors) while 31 percent of its revenue is derived from abortions “non-government health services revenue.”

Planned Parenthood Sees 28% Decline in Private Donations
Last week the 2009-2010 Planned Parenthood annual report was released and it shows that the leading abortion group had suffered a significant decline in private contributions. In 2009 they reported 308 million in private donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations yet in 2010 they saw that number fall to 223.8 million.

This chart illustrates the drop-off.

While it is unknown what exactly caused the decline in financial support, Planned Parenthood has come under increased criticism in recent years after getting caught willing to cover-up the child sexual abuse and accepting funds specifically for the purpose of aborting black babies.

Fungibility: The state of being interchangeable. For example, money has fungibility because there is no difference between one dollar and another dollar.

Tax dollars or private dollars - they all support the operations of Planned Parenthood including abortions. The only solution. Stop violating the law and stop giving money to Planned Parenthood who generates 1/3 of their revenue from abortions.

Dems Want Obama to Fund, Promote Foreign Abortions

Steven Ertelt, Life News - Democrats in the House have written a new letter to pro-abortion President Barack Obama urging him to do more to spend taxpayer funds on paying for abortions in foreign countries and promoting abortion counseling.

The Democrats say they believe the Obama administration is too literally applying the Helms Amendment, which prohibits direct taxpayer funding of abortions in foreign countries using taxpayer-funded foreign aid. The liberal members of the House want the Obama administration to review the amendment and funding to determine if abortion counseling, information and abortions themselves can be legally paid for under a looser interpretation of the law.

"We are concerned that improper implementation of current foreign-assistance restrictions may be impeding our ability to provide even more effective and life-saving information and services,' they wrote in the letter, which The Hill obtained. "In particular, we are concerned that the Helms Amendment - which restricts but does not prohibit abortion funding - is being implemented as though it were an absolute ban.'

The members appear to be pushing for the payment of abortions in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother - the exceptions currently found in the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortions in the Medicaid program.

The letter claims previous presidents allowed abortion funding in such cases while excluding taxpayer coverage of foreign abortions in most cases, "as a method of family planning."

"Funding abortion services in the cases of rape, life endangerment, and incest would assist women and help fulfill your stated goal of U.S. global-health-related foreign assistance: to save lives, reduce suffering, and support the health and dignity of people everywhere," the letter says. 'We look forward to hearing from you about steps the Administration will take toward making U.S. foreign assistance even more responsive to the needs of women in developing countries by reviewing and updating the application of current law."

Members signing the letter include Democratic Reps. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, Pete Stark of California, Yvette Clarke of New York, Lois Capps of California, Gwen Moore of Wisconsin, Barbara Lee of California, Donald Payne of New Jersey, Lynn Woolsey of California, Diana DeGette of Colorado, Maxine Waters of California, Louise Slaughter of New York, and Jesse Jackson Jr of Illinois.

In September 2003, President George W. Bush expanded the Mexico City Policy and issued an executive memo making it clear that the pro-life policy applies to federal funding of all population programs funded by the State Department — even if they are not funded through USAID. Another pro-life law, called Kemp-Kasten, prohibits the federal government from funding involuntary population programs.

The letter comes after an investigation by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), into the Obama Administration’s use of $18 million in taxpayer funds to provide funding for a group pushing legalized abortion in Kenya finds the administration broke the law. The investigation by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the investigative arm of Congress, shows at least one Obama grantee openly pushed to expand abortion in Kenya despite a long-standing, annually renewed law that prohibits U.S. tax dollars from being used to lobby for or against abortion in other countries (known as the Siljander Amendment).

The GAO report also reveals that a key Obama official stonewalled investigators and refused to cooperate with the GAO in its investigation of the activities initiated by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department during the 2010 constitutional referendum in Kenya.

"The Obama Administration basically hired surrogates to do its dirty work of abortion promotion in Kenya,'said Congressman Chris Smith, a New Jersey Republican who is the chairman of the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights.

"U.S. policy on international constitutional reform is, by law, supposed to be abortion-neutral” Smith said. “This new report shows that at a minimum the Obama Administration ignored the prohibition with the end result being a new Kenyan constitution that vastly expands access to abortion in Kenya, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer."

Silent And Often Deadly Night For Christians

Update From Gary Bauer: The U.S. Commission of International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) is scheduled to close for good tomorrow. Created in 1998, the USCIRF provides recommendations to the State Department and acts as a watch dog on international religious freedom. “…[I]f you eliminate USCIRF, you send a terrible signal internationally that we are less concerned about religious freedom,” Chris Seiple told Christianity Today last week. The elimination of the USCIRF, says Thomas Farr, director of the Religious Freedom Project at Georgetown University, makes it, “reasonably clear to the persecutors… that advancing religious freedom is not a priority for the United States.”

We know that the persecution of Christians abroad is not a priority for the White House and many in Congress. But we need to make it a priority for ourselves. Again, please watch and share this video and please pray for the persecuted church.

Seven Former Employees Prepared to Tesify

Tony Perkins, Family Research Council: Allegations have been raining down on Planned Parenthood for months--but the worst are yet to come. Seven of the organization's former employees say they're prepared to testify on explosive new charges that the abortion giant misused taxpayer dollars. During their time behind the curtain of Planned Parenthood, the group (which includes abortion doctors, clinic workers, and clinic managers) witnessed the organization using federal funds for abortions, despite Planned Parenthood's assurances. They also say clinics broke laws on parental notification, ultrasounds, reporting requirements, and billing practices.

"It is a matter of public record," the employees write in a joint letter to House leaders Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), "that affiliates of PPFA and its national headquarters receive roughly $1 million per day in federal-state support... This alone would merit close government attention as to whether or not these funds are being spent appropriately and, specifically, in keeping with... federal law..." As conservatives try to zero out tax dollars for Planned Parenthood, this could be the final piece to their decades-long struggle. Like other pro-lifers, we're grateful for these courageous women, who stepped out of the shadows to save lives and change hearts.

Rob Stein at the Washington Post reported: The federal government Wednesday rejected a request to let young teenage girls buy the controversial morning-after pill Plan Bdirectly off drugstore and supermarket shelves without a prescription.

In a rare public split among federal health officials, the Health and Human Services Department overruled a decision by the Food and Drug Administration to make the drug available to anyone of any age without a restriction.

ARRA News Service - Tony Perkins, FRC Washington Update: Despite all of our policy differences, I'd like to believe there are some lines that even the Obama administration wouldn't cross. Endorsing bestiality is one of them. While it may be uncomfortable to talk about (FRC ought to know!), it shouldn't be difficult to oppose. Or so we thought. Yesterday, during a White House press conference, Jay Carney was caught off guard when a reporter for WorldNetDaily.com asked for the President's opinion on overturning the military's bestiality ban. Lester Kinsolving put it this way, "The Family Research Council and CNS News both reported a 93-to-7 U.S. Senate vote to approve a Defense Authorization bill that, 'includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, but also repeals the military ban on sex with animals, or bestiality.' Does the commander-in-chief approve or disapprove of bestiality in our armed forces?"

Given this administration's track record on sexuality, the question was a legitimate one. Regardless of the nervous laughter in the room, three short syllables were all Jay Carney needed to say to put this issue to rest. Or, if he preferred, Carney could have elaborated on the President's disappointment that the repeal was included in the bill in the first place. Either way, this is political no-brainer. But, after a long pause, Carney's only response was no response. "I don't have any comment on--I don't have any comment on that. Let me go to another question." Kinsolving tried to follow up. "Does the President believe this will be approved by all animal support groups...?" Carney shrugged off the insinuation and told the room, "Let's get to something more serious."

Believe me, I would like to talk about something else too. But the policies of the Obama administration have opened a Pandora's Box of perversion. Maybe the White House couldn't respond to the question, because it didn't have an answer. After all, the administration has already welcomed at least one offender into its ranks. Last Thursday, an official with the Centers for Disease Control was back at work, despite being charged with two counts of child molestation and bestiality. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Dr. Kimberly Lindsey, a deputy director with the CDC, has resumed her duties while she awaits trial. A police spokesman confirmed that "During the investigation, evidence was recovered that led to the bestiality charge." Unfortunately, this kind of abuse is more prevalent than people think. And this administration is not only ignoring it, but knowingly protecting employees who practice it. These are the consequences of a society where "anything goes." Eventually, even the vilest cultural taboos are tolerated.

Beyond Plan B ...

Tony Perkins, FRC Washington Update: Over the last week, FRC has learned that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will decide tomorrow whether Plan B will be made available over-the-counter to women of all ages. Not too long ago, the Obama FDA adopted a so-called compromise policy on the sales of Plan B. As it stands, girls under the age of 17 need a prescription for the drug which, according to its own packaging label, can act as an abortifacient. The compromise, which provides some protections for underage girls, is apparently too restrictive to the promiscuous, pro-abortion policies of this administration.

If the FDA removes the age limit, it will defy good public health sense. Young people under the age of 25 are infected with half of the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) nationwide. Making Plan B available over-the-counter would bypass the necessary and routine medical care of sexually active girls and women, which helps screen for health conditions like sexually transmitted diseases. What's more, a study published last year showed that in England a public health program that encouraged use of Plan B in teens actually led to an increased STD rate in adolescents. Also, the average age of sexual trafficking victims in the U.S. is between 13 and 14. There's a real danger that Plan B would be given to women (especially sexually abused women and minors) under coercion or without their consent. Interaction with medical professionals is a major screening and defense mechanism for victims of sexual abuse. If the FDA chooses to make Plan B available over-the-counter, it wouldn't be in the best interest of women's health. Obviously, politics--not reason or science--would be the motivating factor for a decision like this.

The Susan B Blog: Another clinic bites the dust. After many innocent deaths, LifeSiteNews is reporting that Minnesota’s abortion clinic – GYN Special Services Clinic – located at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, will close its doors! Local pro-life activists report that this is the first abortion clinic closure in two decades for the state of Minnesota. The numbers of abortions for the clinic this past year have been down and compared to previous years they were performing 55% below their annual levels, 545 abortions instead of the usual 1200.

For years many pro-life protests, petitions and boycotts have been held at this site with the great hopes to shut it down. Due to the protests and boycotts, the hospital suffered in many ways from performing abortions in this clinic, financially being one of them.

Pro-life activists in Minnesota are elated with the news, Brian Gibson of Pro-life Action Ministries says, “I cannot express properly the waves of emotions of joy I am experiencing with this victory.” The shutting down of this clinic, along with three other clinics in the United States this month, is a profound testimony to the power of perseverance and courage in fighting for the unborn and the right to LIFE!
