Circa 2006 - Ever since I got my first mobile phone, I was fascinated with the way this compact piece of technology worked. Right from my first call to the first message, memories are etched deep inside my mind. I was just 16-years old and had given my 12th standard exam, better known as HSC in my part of the country. The handset was a simple Nokia 1100, which by that times’ standard was the in thing. If you had a Nokia, you knew you would never be bothered, because you had snakes to play all day and still have enough battery for the next day. Logging on to the internet was a ritual. Our computers were equipped with 56k modems and I had to request others at home to stay away from the phone, whilst I tried to dial-up and connect to the world wide web. Everything was so slow, but we never felt it that way. We were patient and waiting while it would take close to 30-45 seconds for us to get connected to the cloud. In those days broadband was a luxury and the best mobile phone around was the Nokia communicator.

It was all so fascinating to me and I dreamt one day I would use a mobile device to log-in to the internet. Little did I know that day wasn’t far.

Fast Forward To 2012 - Things have changed massively. The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is to hit the mail application on my iPhone. I check my emails, while rolling in bed. Next application which I open is Twitter, check the @ mentions with my name and proceed to the facebook app. But wait, I am still not completely awake and I am still rolling in bed. How is it possible? Welcome to the age of the mobile internet. All this is possible thanks to the super fast connectivity on my Vodafone service. I make notes on my phone, edit them and once I reach my workstation, voila it is there on the computer. I could go on and on about how the mobile internet has changed my life for the better. Not only does it save so much time, it also gives me great flexibility of doing work, while at the same time helping me be in touch with my close ones.
