There is no end to the good vibes that you get with this pretty “heart” platter. Each plate is cut from glass that would otherwise go to waste and end up in the land-fill which is a tragedy since it is perfectly good glass!! It is categorized as pre-consumer/ post-industrial. The design on the plates is hand screened. With each purchase, $2 is donated to benefit Pittsburgh Habitat for Humanity, which brings community volunteers together to build affordable housing for low-income families….and a little certificate describing the donation is included with the plate. It is dishwasher and microwave safe.

Handbags created from recycled records

From Brazilian artist, Gueth Freitas, beautifully painted handbags made from recycled records. She paints on the black vinyl records with “nanquin” a Chinese ink …her designs are bold and punchy! She paints enough of the surface to give is a strong graphic look, however, if examined closely your admirers will see the classic tracks of the record. If you would like to give this as a gift, Novica includes and “artisan card” which tells the story of the artist and the materials used…it is a nice touch.
