Q: i got my tongue pierced yestrday and it is the next night.. my tongue is like ULTRA swollen, which is typical but i can barely shut my mouth. and im finding it hard to talk.. ive used ice and ibuprofen and they dont seem to help much with tendernes or the fact that my tongue is HUGE. i have to work with customers tomorrow at my work and i can barely even speak right.. any advice with tips to make tongue piercing swelling go down fast?

A: take ibuprofen or other Anti-inflammatories and make sure to do some salt water soaks. Warm water and sea salt mix it together and soak your piercing in the solution for a few minutes. Make sure to mouth wash after every time you eat, smoke etc.

Q: Hi I'm 14 and I might get a tongue piercing. I want to know:

1.) Pros/cons
2.) Pain rate it 1-10
3.) How rare is it to get it infected
4.) Can you kiss after it is healed and everything
5.) Health risk
6.) Tongue piercing swelling and food? How long?
7.) Any other information you can provide

A: 1) Pros - looks hot. lots of fun to play with haha, i've only had it since may this year and i still can't stop playing with it. like sliding it along your teeth and stuff.

Cons - because i played with it too much especially during the healing period i actually stretched the hole a little bit... so if you look closely it's a slit now and not just a hole. not very pretty.

2) for me it did not hurt at all. i actually had a topical anaesthetic injected with a fine needle, so the ONLY pain i felt was getting injected under my tongue (the bottom hurts way more than top). there is a VERY strange sensation when the needle goes through, it's like piercing a piece of steak.

3) even though i've only had mine for 3 months, it's already been infected. i think i was smoking too much... but it's SO easy to heal. i just stopped smoking and rinsed with mouthwash every 10 minutes. but infections hurt like crazy and they sort of pus a bit and it tastes reeeal funky.

4) yes. never stopped me. make sure you wait the initial 2 weeks though, otherwise it HURTS.

5) haven't had any myself, i've only read in other places that if you get in a car accident or something and need a breathing tube inserted down your throat, it could get in the way and you could die because of it. but thats not such a likely situation...

6) My tongue piercing swelling lasted about 7 or 8 days. that's the minimum, because i looked after it really well. when it swells it's like a golf ball in your mouth, talking REALLY hurts in the first 2 or 3 days so don't talk, and you basically can't eat anything that involves moving your tongue... all i had was miso soup and Up N Go for 4 straight days, before i slowly got to eat yoghurt (can you believe even yoghurt hurts??) and mashed potato etc. after about 3 weeks you can go back to your normal eating habits

7) one thing in particular was swallowing tablets, i always used to confuse the top ball of my tongue piercing with the tablet i'm meant to swallow, so after i've swallowed it i still think it's in my mouth. this happened while i was eating too, i always thought there was still food in my mouth and i try to chew it and it HURTS. but after a while you get used to having a ball constantly in your mouth.

Tongue piercing swelling tips

Q: Okay i went and got my tongue pierced the other day and it didnt swell hurt or anything i wake up and my tongue is completely swollen!! is that normal considering the fact that the tongue piercing swelling occurs at night and goes down through out the day? Is it also normal that at practice (since i have gotten it pierced) my mouth becomes super dry.. almost like sandpaper.

A: Use salt water. Avoid mouthwash. You should also avoid any bread products that contain yeast (this includes beer and some grain alcohols) for at least fourteen days. Your mouth heals pretty fast but mouthwash can actually "kill" the good bacteria that is helping it heal.

Q: So I got my tongue piercing on Sept. 9th and the tongue piercing swelling has yet to go down even though it has been a week and a couple of days. I've been cleaning my tongue piercing with sea salt water every time I eat, drink, wake up, and before I go to bed. I sucked on ice the first two days and then sucked on popsicles after that. I drank slushies and shakes since they are cold and have been really careful when eating food.

I took Anti-inflammatories for four days and then I caught a cold which I then took Nyquil and some Dayquil. Also when I brush my teeth I carefully brush around my tungue piercing. So what could be causing the tongue piercing swelling to not go down?

A: Don't over clean your piercing, that's bad for it.
Also, you just have to wait for the tongue piercing swelling to go down. Continue eating ice and using ibuprofen or other Anti-inflammatories and it'll go down on it's own. Mine only took a week to go down completely. But everybody is different.

Tongue piercing swelling time

Q: This is the beginning of the third day that I've had my tongue pierced. They did it at an angle and left less room for Tongue piercing swelling than normal. I've noticed past couple of days that the top ball is digging into my tongue and making quite an indent. Does it sound like it still has potential to be a healthy piercing a week from now as long as I keep it clean? From what I understand, the 2-3rd day is the peak of a tongue piercing's tongue piercing swelling.

A: Tongue piercing swelling continues up to two weeks, it's completely normal. Rejection is VERY rare in tongue piercings. They're super easy to heal, and it takes a lot to mess them up.

They pierce at an angle to accomodate for your anatomy (not hitting your teeth, gums, or tongue web). It doesn't affect tongue piercing swelling, OR risk of infection. Any good piercer will do this to protect your teeth and gums.

It's normal to have your tongue swell to the point where you do not see any extra barbell- just the balls.
You will need to be changed to a longer barbell if the top ball literally begins to sink into the piercing's hole... getting embedded. If this happens, you'll just get changed to a longer barbell by your piercer, and your piercing will begin to settle down and be fine. This happened to a standard navel piercing I've previously had.

An indentation in your tongue is normal.

Take Ibuprofen every 4 hours, eat lots of ice, drink lots of cold water, and cold foods to help with tongue piercing swelling.
Swishing with hot water will help with pain during tongue piercing swelling time.

Industrial piercing can be made by both men and women. It is quite popular nowdays. There are two most important things to consider doing industrial piercing - the gauge of jewellery and the placement of it.
Commonly industrial piercing takes place throught the cartilage at the top of the ear - from one side to another.

Industrial piercing needs time to heal and can be easily knocked out.
You should also use only high quality jewellery for your industrial piercing, for example use stainless suggical steel or solid gold or titanum and you should only use internally threaded barbells.

Industrial piercing pain

Most people describe industrial piercing as rather painfull process, especially in the second part of it. Surelly pain during industrial piercing process depends on persons pain tolerance. Here are some quotes describing people industrial piercing pain experience:

"the problem i have is that i got a triple Industrial piercing done in my right ear. the outcome was a horrible 4 months of non stop pain, swelling, and only one piercing survived out of the three. the very top hole is the only one i can put earing in."

"Then, He pierced my Rook... OKAY, this hurt... A LOT. I have a very high pain tolerance, but I litterally screamed during this one. It took longer to get the needle through and was a horrible experience."

"It hurt me but thats because I don’t have much pain tolerance"

Industrial piercing healing

Healing time of industrial piercing depends on following:
1. Personal health
2. Following the aftercare instructions

Industrial piercing aftercare

1. You must be extremely careful during first two weeks of healing, because healing in this time is critical.
2. Avoid any hair products during first two weeks of industrial piercing healing.
3. It is very important to avoid touching industrial piercing during this time.

4. You should clean it twice a day with H2Ocean cleaning solution avoid any oral contact with industrial piercing and knocking it out.
5.It is highly advised to use only best quality jewellery for industrial piercing and not to change it during first three months of healing.

Notice that some secretion from the industrial piercing may occur in first months of industrial piercing healing process.

There are a lot of simple things that you will be able to use to make the healing process of your eyebrow piercing faster.
