We had a great outing against the Rosenberg Roughnecks on Saturday. The Packers took the field on all levels:

Flag (w): 20-6
Freshman (w): 35-14
Sophomore (w): 36-0
Junior (w): 28-6

The Senior game was called due to lightning in the area. The Packers were ahead 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. The game will be made up on Tuesday at 6:00pm at the Roughnecks home field.

The Cheer girls, as always, brought the “spirit and smiles”!

Packers fans showed up in good numbers throughout the day and a nice sized crowd brought the applause and represented the Packers with great fan sportsmanship!

The Packers will play the Rosenberg Roughnecks in our 2010 opening game on Saturday, September 4th, at the Roughnecks home field.

Picture Day

Picture day is Friday, 9/10, at Velasquez. Each team level should arrive by the times listed below. Once your team level and your individual picture is taken you may depart. Forms for parents to fill out will be provided in advance of picture day so that you can arrive with completed forms.

Cheer team: 5:00pm
Flag team: 5:30pm
Freshmen team: 5:50pm
Sophomore team: 6:10pm
Junior team: 6:30pm
Senior team: 6:50pm

Parent Pledge

Packers Rally!

Immediately following practice this coming Wednesday (9/1) all players, parents and fans are asked to ‘huddle-up’ for a Packers rally. The cheer girls will get us ready for our first regular season game! The rally will last approximately 20 minutes.

Practice Schedule Reminder

Practice this upcoming week is four days – Monday through Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30pm.

Practice the following week will take place three days: Tuesday (9/7) , Wednesday (9/8) and Thursday (9/9) from 6:00 to 7:30pm.

Practice the week after will take place on Monday (9/13), Wednesday (9/15) and Thursday (9/16) from 6:00 to 7:30pm. That will start our normal Monday, Wednesday, Thursday schedule.

League Scrimmage

We would like to thank all the people who played an active role in making Friday’s scrimmage happen. On and off the field there were lots of people who pitched in. Progress is being made although there’s still much, much more progress we can make.

Reinforcing the importance of these attributes with the kids will help them progress and in return they will be more rewarded for it:

1) Maximum Effort,
2) Focusing,
3) Learning, and
4) Physical & Mental Toughness.

Every player, every level, can continue to progress. One attribute I didn’t need to call out is respect. We have 118 football boys and 54 cheer girls that are all very respectful kids and a pleasure to be around.
