OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don reported that it’s the same as it was last week except we got the monthly insurance bill and we paid it. We also reimbursed Mark Eads for funds he’d paid for ground school supplies. Don also reported that “we have another potential investor” and “things are going pretty good.”

Airplanes: Don reported that the ELT’s out on 478 (which is at Duke’s).

Radio for the 172. Tim said the radio’s on its way back from repair and that he paid the bill which was $550 including postage. Thanks, Tim. [Note: will be reimbursed]

Scholarship: Mark said the second session of ground school was held with six students in attendance, three of whom are scholarship applicants. Jim mentioned that attending a couple of ground school sessions is pretty important for the scholarship committee members to do. He also said we’ve got a “good group of kids” and it may be a tough choice to select a scholarship recipient this year. Tim taught a good share of this week’s session. Jim and Mark Elbert have both spoken to the students and relayed some of their experiences. Jim bought a white board for use in the ground school classroom. Thanks, Jim. [Note: will be reimbursed]

The meeting was called to order by President Tim Scheer at 6:30 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Randy Stannard, Calvin Colony, Brett Lenz, and Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rita Orr, Em Norden, Patrick McCormick, Terry Koehn, Dave White, Chris Lenz, John Ockenfels, Kent Johnson, Earl Yoder, and Mark Eads

The Minutes of the March 28, 2012 Board of Directors meeting were read by Karo’s designee, Mark Eads. Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz that the minutes be approved as read. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don reported that we’ve “got all the little bills paid, we’re still working on the gas bill, we don’t have a bill yet for the monthly insurance payment, and we have a little money left in the bank; so, we’re in pretty good shape.” “Flying’s been pretty good.”

No new members.

Airplanes: Terry said we’ve got the ferry permit to take 478 to Duke’s for annual (which is “out”).

Scholarship: Tim reported that we have a really good group; they asked intelligent questions [at their first session of ground school Monday (April 2) evening]. There were five students who showed up at the first session of ground school; three of whom are scholarship applicants. Mark regrets we hadn’t gotten the material to the students so they could have prepared for the first session, but they all have materials to prepare for next week.

NEW BUSINESS:

Our Prez (a/k/a social chair) has a new money-making idea for our scholarship fund. WATER BALLOON DROP CONTEST (and spot landing contest). Everyone was enthusiastic about the idea. Discussion was held re how it would work (putting names on balloons, food, the time and date for the event, etc.). June 10 seemed to work (week before father’s day). More info later.

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:53 PM.

The meeting was called to order by President Tim Scheer at 6:30 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Randy Stannard, Calvin Colony, and Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rita Orr, Patrick McCormick, Jim Beeghly, Terry Koehn, Mark & Cherry Elbert, Dave White, Ali Alrahmani, Walker Olson, Rick Treiber, Leroy Wullner, Andy Carpenter, Mehrdad Zarifkar, Ben & Marci Wenberg, John Kassie, and . . . Mark Eads

The Minutes of the March 21, 2012 Board of Directors meeting were read by Karo. “Bob Dunn” (a/k/a Don Nelson) moved with second by “Brett Lenz” (a/k/a Randy Stannard) that the minutes be approved as corrected. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don reported that we’re “not in too bad a shape because we haven’t paid all the bills.” As a follow-up, Don said our bills are paid, we’re whittling away at our gas bill, and our $2,000 insurance payment that is due the first of every month will be paid on time.

Airplanes: Don said as far as he knows, all planes are flying except 478.

Scholarship: Jim Beeghly said he and Mark Eads met with the applicants (and parents), and they all seem as though they’re good candidates. Discussion was held re those who are on the scholarship committee may want to attend a couple of sessions of ground school to get a closer look at the applicants [rather than just reading words on an application]. Ground school begins Monday, April 2, 2012. Those who volunteered to be on the committee, so far, are: Karo Stigler, Tim Scheer, Jim Beeghly, Rick Treiber, Mark Elbert, Chris Lenz, and Bob Dunn [even though he wasn’t present tonight, we added his name]. If any other Green Castle member desires to be on the committee, please send Jim Beeghly an email and let him know. There’s no final decision yet for the date applicants will be chosen to go into the second phase [possibly early to mid-May] of the scholarship selection process. It was mentioned that, if we have two people who look extraordinarily good, we may want to think about funding two scholarships.

Ramp checks. Terry Koehn sent an email to members explaining the “ramp check at home” idea. Terry’s talked to Roger “N” Clark and a couple of other FAA safety folks, but hasn’t spoken with the actual inspectors yet re the procedure(s) they’d follow when doing the “at home” ramp checks. Discussion was held re this seems like a great idea [to have FAA inspect our aircraft at our airport at our invitation]. It also seems like a great way to bridge-the-gap between the FAA and us.

NEW BUSINESS:

No new members.

Don thanked Dave for cooking the burgers tonight (while Em and Chef Bob are on vacation). Applause by all to Dave White!

Terry said another commercial pilot is coming in to train with him and get recertified.

“Bob Dunn” (a/k/a Don Nelson) moved with second by “Brett Lenz” (a/k/a Randy Stannard) to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.

The meeting was called to order by President Tim Scheer at 6:30 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz, Randy Stannard, Calvin Colony, and Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rita Orr, Em Norden, Patrick McCormick, Jim Beeghly, Terry Koehn, Mark & Cherry Elbert, Roger Medsker, Chris Lenz, Dave White, Rich Wilkening, Ali Alrahmani, Walker Olson, and Mark Eads

The Minutes of the March 14, 2012 Board of Directors meeting were read by Karo. Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz that the minutes be approved as read. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don reported that the treasury “is the same as it was last week.” 478′s not in service yet (but Mike will put the oil tank on as soon as he has a chance); the other two 150s are working fine; we paid Duke the $1800 on the Citabria so that’s all paid for now; we’re getting 1500 gal. of fuel for about $7500 that we’ll need to pay within the next couple of weeks; and we’re still looking for one more $5000 investor.

Re 172′s radio, Tim said he found a place in Florida that can repair our radio and return it “yellow tagged” for $630-$640. Thanks and APPLAUSE by all in attendance to Tim for all the work he’s done in getting the radio situation resolved.

Jim Beeghly said he’s received six applications for our scholarship as of this date and he’s agreed to accept a couple more (due to extenuating circumstances and a snafu at a school re exhibiting our poster). Jim said the next step is he’ll sit down with the applicants, make sure they know what’s actually involved and that they understand the rules, and make sure they’re willing to follow them. Jim thinks we’ll have between 7 and 10 applicants in ground school.

NEW BUSINESS:

Per Terry, CID will start doing more ramp checks and is going to be offering to do them on site; all we have to do is call and schedule a time/date for them to come out and do an on-site ramp check at Green Castle. Discussion was held re how beneficial this would be because, if there’s something wrong, the plane would already be at its home airport and the issue could be remedied more easily, etc. We’re all going to think about it and will discuss it further at a later date. Tabled. Also, Terry said Rich Wilkening has offered to speak to us re safety, etc.

Bob and Em won’t be here next week and that, in order to survive until his return, we have burger patties and dogs in the freezer that can be grilled. HAVE A NICE VACATION, BOB AND EM!

NEWS FLASH: At the beginning of tonight’s meeting, FAA examiner Rich Wilkening signed off on Ali Alrahmani’s instrument rating. CONGRATULATIONS, ALI!

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion
carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.

The meeting was called to order by President Tim Scheer at 6:30 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz, John Navara, Randy Stannard, Calvin Colony, and Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rita Orr, Em Norden, Rick Treiber, Patrick McCormick, Al Schmidt, Jim Beeghly, Terry Koehn, and Mark Eads

GUESTS: Prospective member John Kassie and former member Nick Paxton

The Minutes of the March 7, 2012 Board of Directors meeting (reported by John Navara [thanks, John]) were read by Karo. Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz that the minutes be approved as corrected. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don reported that we’re in pretty good shape. The Citabria cost $1800, we owe some on our last gas bill, and we still need another $5,000 investor.

Airplanes: All planes are up temporarily. We have the oil tank and gaskets for 478; we just need to do the installation. Thanks to our superior president, Tim, we have a new battery for the Skyhawk. The bill for 19Q’s transponder was $1,200, but we paid $900 as they cut it down a bit. Dale Yoder, the only pilot who’s flown the Citabria since it came back from its annual, said it flies better. Re 172′s radio, Tim said TKM isn’t answering their phone, but they want $1600 in advance and two months to build the radio. Tim thinks we can get a yellow tagged radio (which, according to the Pres., “is considered to be a new radio”) for $700-800 (including front panel). Brett will look at the radio and see if he can install it. Don moved with second by Randy that we get a yellow tagged radio like we have in there now. Vote taken; Motion carried.

Jim Beeghly said he’s received a second application for our scholarship. Discussion was held re the new process (not interviewing, but, in a nutshell, having applicants start with ground school and monitor their progress). Calvin will talk to the Swenka boy and see if he is interested in applying this year.

NEW BUSINESS: None; and no new members either.

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:57 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz, John Navara, Randy
Stannard and Calvin Colony.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rita Orr, Jim McCullough, Em Norden, Jim Beeghly, Chris Lenz, Earl Nixon, and
Mark Eads

The Minutes of the February 29, 2012 Board of Directors meeting were read by Mark. Bob Dunn moved with
second by Brett Lenz that the minutes be approved as read. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don reported that check numbers are screwed up but that can be fixed.

Airplanes: Corrected bill for the transponder in 19Q was received and paid. Tim found an oil tank for 478. Tim has a contact (TKM) for replacing the radio in the Skyhawk. The problem is that they are slow at responding and Tim will keep in contact with them. The Citabria is done, we just need to find good weather for us to go and get it. Leroy has sold his 172. One less thing for us to worry about.

Jim B reported that we have 1 application for the scholarship. There are usually some last minute applicants.

NEW BUSINESS:

Earl Nixon joined. We had a student solo last week.

Rita mentioned that our former scholarship winner Skylar Rath has been named to the honor roll at Solon High School for the 2011-2012 school year. Congratulations Skylar.

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting
adjourned at 6:44 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz, John Navara, Randy Stannard, and Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rita Orr, Jim McCullough, Rick Treiber, Andy Carpenter, Dave White, Chris Lenz, and Mark Eads

GUEST: Earl Nixon

The Minutes of the February 22, 2012 Board of Directors meeting were read by Karo. Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz that the minutes be approved as read. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don reported that “things are going pretty good” and added [jokingly] “as we have $6,000 in the bank and $50,000 in bills . . . I mean $5,000 in bills.” We have four new investors. Because investors’ contracts are added, or “changed” for previous investors who opted to stay in with the lower percentage rates on March 1, Randy and John will help Don tomorrow with upgrading and setting up the computer to reflect those changes. Don said there hasn’t been much flying the last couple of days (due to high wind).

Airplanes: The transponder in 19Q is not working right and is off 200 feet. Don said it’s guaranteed and the seller said he could take it back and they’d fix it. The oil bladder on 478 has been taken off and we’re in the process of getting another one to replace it. Nothing’s been done [yet] about the Skyhawk’s radio. The front shock “bottomed out.” Evidently, it needs some air (which someone will take care of). Tim will contact Mitchell Radio and see if they have something that will fit in the tray and work.

Speaking of Tim, Tim said Leroy’s still interested in selling his 172 [sans engine and radio] for $10,000. Tim said he’ll buy it . . . for now, with payback arrangements that would be discussed later. Discussion was held re how to come up with the $10,000 to pay Tim back and another $15,000 that would be needed to purchase an engine and radio, selling a 150 before buying the 172, etc. Tabled.

NEW BUSINESS:

No new members.

APPLAUSE! and CHEERS! went to “Brightlight Brett”!!! Everyone said the runway lights are brighter than they’ve ever been and that Brett’s been doing a fantastic job keeping them in good working order. We’ve never had it so good. Dave said they’re very clear for at least six miles out. Thanks, Brett.

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:48 PM.

Airplanes: The new transponder has been installed in 19Q, it’s paid for, but there seems to be a little problem with it (that Don said will be taken care of soon).

Scholarship: Jim reported he’s received only one application (from someone who is short on experience but appears to have lots of enthusiasm).

The meeting was called to order by President Tim Scheer at 6:30 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz,
Calvin Colony, Randy Stannard, and Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rita Orr, Dave White, Walker Olson, Andy Carpenter, Jim
McCullough, Terry Koehn, Jim Beeghly, and Mark Eads

GUEST: Earl Nixon

The [notes of the] Minutes of the February 8, 2012 Board of Directors meeting were read by Karo. Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz that the notes of the minutes be approved as read. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD AND NEW BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don reported that we’re “still solvent.” We had a 150 fly to Des Moines Sunday, wouldn’t start for the return trip, carburetor caught fire, and Elliott’s had to repair it which cost $800. We got the struts on the Citabria rebuilt at a cost of $1500. Our bank account is low; however, all our bills are up-to-date.

Scholarship: Jim Beeghly said he’s heard “nary a peep” from anyone; no inquiries and no applications have been received . . . yet.

New member: Josh Cox of Cedar Rapids joined this week, has his private with about 60 hours, hasn’t flown much recently, and will need to get a little time in before he’s checked out in our planes. Welcome Josh!

Prospective new member: Earl Nixon of Coralville. Earl was present this evening, says he’s wanted to fly since he was a little boy, and is very interested in joining.

Fuel: When asked about our fuel situation (because of the expected rising cost of fuel), Don said we’re in pretty good shape as we have about 700 gal of 100 LL and 300 gal of auto fuel.

Airplanes: Terry said the number 2 radio in the Skyhawk is out and needs to be repaired (if it’s at all possible) or replaced. Bob mentioned we might be able to find a used radio at Michael’s. Also, the circuit breaker in the Skyhawk pops out and needs to be fixed. A new solenoid and starter for the Skyhawk have been ordered, should be here soon, and will be installed. Don said 478 has a cracked oil tank that has to be repaired/replaced. The transponder in 19Q is here and will be installed, but we’ll wait for a day of decent weather so we can take it to Cedar Rapids (should only take a couple of hours for installation).

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:46 PM.

The meeting was called to order by President Tim Scheer at 6:30 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz, Randy Stannard, and Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT: Em Norden, Mark & Cherry Elbert, Andy Carpenter, Allen Schmidt, Mehrdad Zarifkar, Shawn Rhinehart, Jim Beeghly, and Mark Eads

The Minutes of the February 1, 2012 Board of Directors meeting were read by Karo. Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz that the minutes be approved as read. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s Report: Don said all the bills are current, we still have gas in the tank, and that there’s been very little flying because of the weather.

Airplanes. All planes are “up” except the Citabria (which is still down for annual). Mehrdad mentioned that the transponder panel is loose on 478, and Shawn suggested the alternator on the Skyhawk should be checked out (dropped a little power during flight).

Don said we have three new members: Allen Schmidt, retired from Palo, of North Liberty is in attendance and is a student; David Fishbaugher of Iowa is a student; and Scott Millman of Cedar Falls is an Air Care pilot for [possibly] St. Luke’s in Cedar Rapids. WELCOME!

Don said we have “three positive investors and possibly two more.”

Don thinks “things are going to start looking up with activity around here.” Allen will start his lessons within a week or so, and David will shortly.

Randy reported [re Tomasz hosting the Club’s website, backing our books up on his servers and the costs associated with this service] that Tomasz said “the numbers are okay and [he] will put it on his account.” [Note: At last week’s Board meeting, it was agreed by the Board that we’d continue reimbursing Tomasz for the cost of domain registration ($13/year per domain--there are three domain names) and for hosting ($1.99/month--that was being donated).]

Don said Jim Beeghly has spent at least a couple of hours working on the new contracts and Excel spreadsheets for investors. Also, Don mentioned that John Navara has been working with him on the interest checks and learning the bookkeeping system. Don said he really appreciates the time Jim and John have expended.

Scholarship. Jim said nothing’s new re the scholarship and that the applications don’t usually start coming in until a couple of weeks before the deadline. Mark Eads hasn’t had a chance to take the scholarship information to Solon, but he expects to be able to get there this week. Randy said he’ll take information to Mid-Prairie and Hiland.

NEW BUSINESS:

Tim brought up our annual spring clean-up and asked that if anyone knows of projects that should be done, to let him and/or Don know. Don mentioned that the airplanes could use a good washing, and he’ll be thinking of more things for us to do.

Randy asked which Board members’ two-year terms would be up this year. Karo responded: Don, John, Randy, and she would be up for reelection at the annual stockholder meeting in November.

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:57 PM.

The meeting was called to order by President Tim Scheer at 6:30 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz, John Navara, Randy Stannard, and Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rita Orr, Em Norden, Dave White, Shawn Rhinehart, Walker Olson, Jim Beeghly, Terry Koehn, and Mark Eads

The Minutes (reported by former secretary Tomasz Korwel) of the January 25, 2012 Board of Directors (“Board”) meeting were read by Karo. Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz that the minutes be approved as read. Vote taken; Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s report. Don said he’s “in utter confusion,” but he’s learning one thing at a time [referring to the computer bookkeeping system]. John volunteered to help Don learn the system. Don muttered that he “generally knows what the bottom line is and that’s about it.” Good luck, John!

All airplanes are flying. The Citabria is down for annual, and we’re getting the gear fixed. Don said “it’s controllable by anybody who’s lucky enough to do it.”

Discussion was held re which 150 to sell . . . before we think about getting another 172. Tim said Leroy’s thinking $10,000 for the airframe. Randy said Terry still has the flyer from the last time we advertised to sell a 150 (possibly 19Q). Don moved with second by Bob that we table the subject for now. Vote taken; Motion carried.

Karo remarked that Calvin Colony is illegitimate [in the “alternate board member” role the Board unofficially bestowed upon him a few years ago] and suggested we legitimize poor Calvin by amending Art. IV, ¶ 4.2, as authorized by Art. XI, ¶ 11.1, of our current by-laws by either allowing for an alternate or changing the number of members the Board is allowed. After much laughter, and a little discussion, re whether we should amend the by-laws to include an alternate Board member, change the number of actual Board members from seven to eight, or let Calvin live in disgrace, Randy moved with second by Bob that we change the number of actual Board members from seven to eight. Vote taken; Motion carried. John moved with second by Randy that Calvin Colony be legitimized by removing his unofficial title of “alternate” and dubbing him a full-fledged member of the Board of Directors. Vote taken; Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

Don said that some time ago, the contract re investors and interest was changed, but doesn’t know where the revised contract is. Jim will contact Tomasz re the location of the contract.

Karo brought copies of the [now outdated] by-laws for those members who would like a copy, and Don will keep several copies in the office. John has now posted them on our website. [Note: Obviously, Karo will revise the by-laws, and they’ll be posted on our website.]

Don reported that we have one new member and a couple of real good prospective ones.

Karo reported scholarship information has been disseminated to City High, West High, Regina, Wash, Jefferson, Xavier, Kennedy, Marion, and Lin-Mar. Chris Lenz took the information to Clear Creek-Amana for posting. It was suggested the information be sent to Solon, West Branch, and Williamsburg. Mark volunteered to take it to Solon; Karo will take care of West Branch and Williamsburg.

Shawn brought an interesting scholarship fund raising project: personalized coins for trading, etc. Discussion was held re waiting to see what kind of response we get re applications.

Tim suggested we sponsor a free ground school slot to a person “to get people going.” Evidently, Marion’s been doing this for years. Jim suggested something like a free introductory lesson and that the person could be offered to stay for ground school if he/she would like to. Discussion was held with the decision made to see how the scholarship goes; then we’ll revisit the “free” idea.

Randy received communication from Tomasz. Tomasz asks that his name “be removed form the Club’s bank accounts at Hills Bank,” and stated he no longer wished to be the guarantor for the Club on our credit card, and that “if no one will take his place as guarantor, [he] will be forced to close the credit card merchant account the club is using right now.” Randy said we should see if it’s guaranteeing against fraudulent transactions or what it’s guaranteeing. Randy will ask Tomasz what it’s guaranteeing and if the system is consistent with management. John stated he’ll be the guarantor (in case of fraud which covers losses up to the amount of transactions processed). Tomasz, through Randy, also stated he’s hosting the Club’s website, that all three domain names are registered and kept on his servers, and that he’s been reimbursing himself for the cost of domain registration costs ($13/year per domain) and was donating the hosting ($1.99/month). He asked if the club “is willing to continue reimbursing [him] for the cost of domains and hosting.” Discussion was held regarding continuing with Tomasz backing up our computer to his servers or possibly going with Carbonite. It was decided this will be treated as a general expense and he’ll be reimbursed. Discussion was held re removing Tomasz’s signature from our bank account. Randy and Tim will sign cards at the bank; Tomasz will be removed from the account.

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:17 PM.

OTHER MEMBERS: Rita Orr, Dave White, Andy Carpenter, Terry Koehn, Karo Stigler, Jim Beeghly, Chris Lenz and Patrick McCormick

The minutes of the January 18th, 2012 Board of Directors meeting were read by Tim. Bob moved with second Brett by that the minute be accepted as read. Vote taken, motion carried.

BUSINESS:

Tomasz read Jim McCullough’s resignation letter. Don moved, seconded by Bob that we accept his resignation and thank Jim for his work. Vote taken, motion carried.

Tomasz read his own resignation letter. Jim Beeghly and Randy Stannard thanked him for his work. Don moved with second by Tim that we accept the resignation. Vote taken, motion carried.

Tim reported that Leroy wants to sell his airplane to the club. It’s late ’60s 172 and before it’ll be sold it will have new engine. The only downside is complete lack of avionics in that airplane so it would be VFR only. Discussion was held re: various scenarios how the club could have benefited from having another C172 even if for VFR only. It has been decided that we will look into replacing one of ours 150s with it.

Don nominated Tim to president, no opposing votes, motion carried

Don moved that Karo be accepted as a board member and appointed as secretary, no opposing votes, motion carried

Randy moved, with second by Bob that that Don be appointed as treasures, no opposing votes, motion carried

Jim brought scholarship posters to distribute in schools. He also said that the poster file is on our webpage so everybody can download and print it if needed.

Last Saturday’s Oyster dinner brought in $110 dollars to the Scholarship account. Thanks go to Tim and Dave for oysters and chili.

Bob moved with second Brett by that the meeting be adjourned. Meeting adjourned at 7:05pm.

The Green Castle Aero Club and its members would like to welcome candidates to apply for the Bill Kimble Flight Training Scholarship. We offer this scholarship periodically to honor the memory of Bill Kimble, one of our founding members, by awarding the chance to earn a pilot’s license to a deserving young person. The ideal candidate someone with an enduring attraction to aviation. Past graduates have gone on to become airline pilots, military pilots, flight engineers and air traffic controllers, or simply begun a lifelong hobby. Earning a pilot’s license requires two closely related types of training: study of flying theory and rules “on the ground” to pass a written test and acquisition of practical skills “in the air” to pass what is referred to as a “check ride.” This year, we have revised the Scholarship into a two phase experience with the intent of potentially making it available to more individuals.

The Club’s flight training scholarship will be offered in two phases. Recipients of the Phase I scholarship will be enrolled in our ground school free of charge. The goal of this phase is to prepare for the written test required for a private pilot’s license.

Recipients of our Phase II Scholarship, drawn from the Phase I recipients after they have been observed in ground school for a period of time, will go on to flying with an instructor. The goal of this phase is to pass the “Check Ride” and earn a private pilot’s license.

Jim Beeghly presented final proposal of new scholarship rules. The document has been accepted and we will now move onto ‘distribution’ phase. Jim will post announcement on our webpage and will send our document to people he has on the list so they can spread the work around.

Bob Dunn read a statement:

I wish to express my feelings about Don Nelson.

He has given his leadership and his life's work in giving us an airport and a place of pleasure for our club members to enjoy.

Because his leadership and the Green Castle Aeroclub would not exist without his personality and his personal drive I move his resignation be denied and he stays as board member.
Also in this motion I include that we increase the number of board members, Randy Stannard is a very important to the board.

After our last meeting on January 11th several board members got together and four of us decided that Don's resignation be denied and he is and always has been our most important leader.

Don thank you for what we have here at Green Castle.

Bob moved again that the number of board members be extended to 8 and that Don’s resignation from last annual meeting in November 2011 be denied. Motion carried with no opposing votes.
