First let’s get some of the confusion out of the way. Since the 1870’s when American inventor and self-proclaimed “humbug” John Worrell Keely persuaded investors with his experiments in "ether liberation", the concept of creating fuel from water or hydrogen fuel generation has always been a controversial one.

The History of Hydrogen Generation

Using electrical current to create hydrogen from water is really old news. It was back in 1800 that two Englishmen, William Nicholson, a chemist and naturalist, and his friend Anthony Carlisle, a surgeon discovered that they could use “water electrolysis” to separate H2O into oxygen and hydrogen.

A great discovery but nothing much happened after that since the process took a great deal of physical energy, usually by means of some guy rapidly turning a hand-powered crank generator to create an electrical current. Oddly enough the first working battery was also invented that year.

Hydrogen generation didn’t get its feet off the ground, no pun intended, until the 1900’s when the heyday of the dirigibles or airships started. At that time German Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin designed a fleet of ocean crossing ridge airships that used massive amounts of hydrogen in gas cells or bags for buoyancy. Zeppelin is believed to have used water electrolysis to create this lighter-than-air gas for his many airships.

After 1937, when the tragic accident with the hydrogen airship Hindenburg happened, using water electrolysis became limited to just industrial uses in manufacturing and aerospace or in school science fairs as classroom lab experiments.

But in 1966, an American inventor named William Rhodes patented a type of “water for gas” “oxyhydrogen” welding system for manufacturing and the jewelry business. His self-contained unit was the first to make “water electrolysis” compact and portable and “on-demand”. Hydrogen didn’t have to be stored in heavy metal bottles.

Later in Australia, a Dr. Yul Brown patented his own version of the “water electrolysis” welder. Brown has been accused of “borrowing” heavily from Rhodes’s 1966 patent, but “Brown’s Gas” machine is believed to have a simpler design than Rhodes. Brown sold his version of this process worldwide to other inventors, small shops and home owners.

While apparently Brown may have had limited financial success with his welding machine; it is his technology that is has become popular as the basis for most water for gas or fuel from water kits available on the market today.

The Truth about Water for Gas: The Principles Behind The Fuel from Water Process And How It Works.

So exactly how does the water for gas or fuel for water system really work? The basic principles are so simple that I could teach a teenager how to build one on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

What is does Water for Gas mean?

Water for gas is very modern term describing a process that is very old. Water for gas is in part a process of water electrolysis. Invented by Englishmen, William Nicholson and Anthony Carlisle about 1800, water electrolysis has been used to separate plain H2O into its component parts (hydrogen and oxygen) for a over a two hundred years.

Basically you install a prebuilt kit or make one yourself that using your car’s electrical system to separate the hydrogen and oxygen into what is called HHO or Brown’s Gas. This gas is then mixed in with the normal air flow of your vehicle and compressed with gasoline. It is nearly two months I never update any content for this blog. I would like to say “Sorry” especially those who have subscribed as blog reader. I was busy with lab reports, assignments and final exam. OK! Back to title, Greentac Revolution. Sound interesting, right? After thinking for the whole day, I decided to have a change on this blog. There are three major changes:

Topic:
The topics in this blog are too wide and it might confuse the readers. Agree? Therefore, I decide to narrow the topics which include environment, technology and some useful tips as well. I dropped the topics like make money online and SEO since I am not the expert in these two fields. Besides, I have read an article about "Why Your Blog Should Not Be A Make Money Online Blog"

Update:
Frequent update is a must for a success blog. I will post 4-5 entries per week. I am looking to post specific topic on certain day. For example, I will write about environment on Monday, technology on Tuesday and so on. It is convenient to the readers who are looking for specific topic. I haven’t decided to write which topic on which day. But, you won't have to wait too long to know about it.

Layout:
I am not looking to change the template since it is working fine. I need to have a logo instead of the words “Greentac Blog”. Blog looks more professional with a logo, right? Honestly, I am not really good in designing. Perhaps, anyone of you can help me?

This is going to be the first revolution for this blog. There will be second, third and so on. We need to keep on changing and getting better and better. Any recommend for next revolution? I always listen to the opinion of my readers. You can leave a comment.

Enable Hibernate in Window Vista

My laptop's battery always run out after 3-4 hours. Since my class is more than 4 hours per day, the battery duration is not sufficient for me. Whenever I didn't use my laptop, I will change it to sleep(stand by) mode. It still consume small amount of energy. I try to use hibernate.(Sleep vs Hibernate)However, hibernate option is not available in my Window Vista. I have found a solution for this problem.

Why Option Is Not Available?
- The Disk Cleanup Utility and has been used to delete the Hibernation File Cleaner.
- The computer does not support the hibernation feature.
- The hibernation feature is disabled.
- The Hybrid Sleep feature is enabled.

How to Enable?
1.Click Start button, type command in the Start Search box, right-click Command Prompt in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
*Note:User Account Control permission If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

2.At the command prompt, type powercfg /a.
The PowerCfg tool generates output that resembles the following:
The following sleep states are available on this system: Standby ( S1 S3 ) Hibernate Hybrid Sleep
The following sleep states are not available on this system: Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

3.Done!

You should able to get a hibernate option in the menu.

Finally, I have the to update my blog. This few weeks, I was very busy with my assignments and reports. But, I will try my best to update this blog. OK! Today, don't go for the new technology. Let`s go back to the old technology. Introducing the ancient computer, Metric ABC CAD 1000 manufactured by the Swedish television manufacturer Luxor.

Petrol Price Up by 40%

Yesterday, our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Wednesday announced price hikes for petrol and diesel. The new price for petrol is RM2.70 per litre, effective today. The price goes up by 78sen from the current RM1.92, a increase of 40.625%. This is going to be a bad news for all Malaysian especially those who always travel with their own transport.

Yesterday, all the petrol station is crowded with vehicles. Everyone was looking to buy RM1.92 per litre petrol before the price is increased. The video below is taken by MalaysiaKini. You can see how crowded the petrol station is.

The increment of petrol’s price has given many negative effects to Malaysian. It would be a burden to us since our daily expenses will increase while our income still remain at the same level. Sigh…

What can we do now?
In positive way, perhaps we can take this opportunity to contribute to our environment, reduce petrol usage.

Dell First Mini Laptop

I bought my Dell Inspiron 1420 about one month ago. Now Dell is introducing their first mini laptop, Dell Mini Inspiron. It is a small size laptop, just like Asus Eee and HP 2133. Dell has released a pair of shots (shown below) that add to the sense of scale, but there is no official name yet. Any idea for it name?

According to Brian Lam of Gizmodo who caught a glimpse of this mini laptop, there are 3 USB ports, a card reader, VGA out and Ethernet. The actual specification and price for this Dell Mini Inspiron is yet to be announced. Hope this will be a low-cost laptop which is suitable for developing country.

Blogger's Scheduled post publishing

Blogger have launched a new feature, Scheduled post publishing and it is live for everyone. This is a good news for me because I can set a post’s date into the future. There is an advantage where I can have a blog post even I am not with my computer for few days. So, I can keep posting regularly even I am out for trip, vacation or too busy with my project.

The feature is quite easy to use and it doesn't require complicated steps. Scheduling a post is easy to do: on the post editor page, click the “Post Options” toggle to show the “Post date and time” fields. Then, type a post date and time that’s in the future. When you click the “Publish” button, your post will become “scheduled.” When the date and time of the post arrive, it will be automatically published to your blog.

Quick Note: If you have a post with a date in the future and want it to be appeared on your blog. You have to publish your post with current date first. The post will appear on your blog. Then, edit the post by changing the date and publish it again. A published post will not be scheduled.

I Make Money Online Again!
