XSPC Delta V3 CPU Water Block w/Acetal Top matches and even beats the performance of some of today’s top, and more expensive, waterblocks. The biggest problem reviewer found with the Corei7 plate is that after you get the thing mounted and start tightening the thumb screws down, the mounting plate its self starts bending under the pressure of the compression springs before they are compressed enough to keep the block from turning on the CPU IHS.

Trevor Baylis’ Revolution MP3 player lives up to the dream by giving you 45 minutes of music playback for every minute you crank its handle. The main improvements of this model over the first EMP are the higher storage capacity (4GB, up from 2GB), a better design (piano black rather than rubberised finish) and modestly tweaked interface. Features are impressive. Music playback is accompanied by decent-looking video, an FM radio capable of recording and a line-in socket that means you can record straight from a microphone or vinyl turntable onto the player.

Efergy’s electricity monitor allows you to monitor your electricity use around the house via a simple display and therefore track what energy you are using, how much you are spending and what your carbon footprint is. Out of the box and it’s a transmitter and a small LCD display both of which are battery powered. Once connected, the information starts following through nicely - every 6 seconds to be precise - and you can see the real-time power load in kW; or as pence per kWh.

OneClick IntelliPanel is and all-in-one device that looks and acts like any other power extension block, providing 8 plug sockets, plus built-in surge protection for the lot and telephone/modem protection for good measure. It’s a miracle Ursula, and does not involve liquid nitrogen. If you want to be really eco-friendly, you could use this with your telly, DVD, games console and so on. Powering down the entire home entertainment system when you switch the TV off. You can’t, however, use it with your laptop for reasons not particularly well explained by OneClick.

Ivy Energy Saving’s Standby Buster energy saving electrical socket with remote is easy to install, easy to use, and means you can control all your gadgets around your house or office at the push of a button. Anything can be added to the system as long as its got a plug and the rather lurid green remote control comes with the ability to set up to four different zones around the house be it a lamp or television. Helpfully Standby Buster uses Radio Frequency rather than Infra-Red to switch appliances on and off.

Moixa’s USBCell batteries are a solution to the problem of forever having to buy new batteries or if you have got rechargeable. The USBCell is one of the gadgets that you can’t spend much time talking about because it doesn’t do much. There are no multifaceted features, no convergence, no built-in storage, just the promise that for your £10.99 and a spare USB socket you’ll get powered devices. The only thing reviewers said however is make sure you’ve got enough USB sockets free when you need to power them up.

Samsung’s mobile PC NP-Q1 works like a dream for multimedia but businesspeople might want to look elsewhere. It has solid-state 32 gigabyte flash-memory module that makes the device less vulnerable to damage such as accidental drops. More important, programs boot faster (as much as 300 times), and because there’s no spinning disk drive, it consumes far less energy, extending battery life up to five hours if you’re not using any of the radio functions. However there is no built-in cellular capability like competitors and only onscreen keyboard.

United Pepper’s Lili webcam is a combination of cotton, sand and kapok. A mini CD is included as part of the package. This disk contains the driver software for this product. However, due to the lack of any printed information, the less-experienced user might suffer some confusion. This eco-friendly 1.3 mega-pixel webcam requires a good light source in order to produce any image that was recognizable. Even with plenty of light, the images produced were of poor quality. Positioning the webcam is another headache.

Sony VAIO Eco Friendly Notebooks are basically a revamp of the popular VAIO FZ computers, they offer a number of eco friendly based elements which include, packaging which consist of recyclable material, non hazardous elements inside the notebook, which does not include any lead for example. The interesting thing is that while this has been seen by many as a PR stunt, the Sony VAIO Eco Friendly Notebook does work and it is a usable product. The fact that Sony has been able to make a statement about their environmental attributes is a bonus.
