Vy and Minh’s planners at The Story Packer didn’t start with colors, florals, or a mood board. They started with the couple: their running jokes, the objects they’d kept, the evenings they liked best, and a Korean BBQ dinner where she out-joked him all night. Two themes came out of it: Friends and tennis. So the end of the aisle is a full-size replica of Monica’s purple door from Friends, with a yellow frame, peephole frame and all, standing in a garden at New World Saigon Hotel. Sure Thing Chapel opened its Lower East Side location on September 3rd. Five days later, photographer Sylvie Rosokoff had Maithri and Taylor standing in front of its pink marquee heart, with a 1992 Bob Mackie between them and all that red velvet.

Hair stylist Gabrielle Kim gave Maithri a sleek low bun as a nod to Degas’s ballerinas, then let a spray of white feathers loose at the back of it. The feathers are the first appearance of a motif Sylvie threaded through the day. Nine Orchard has a Swan Room, and there are swan benches outside the hotel, and so the shoot got swans. Feathers in the hair. Jeffrey Campbell’s white feathered kitten heels, which fan up past the ankle like a pair of wings. The swan necklace. And, later, swans on the cake.

Jackson Grant was booked on Rio and Rachel’s wedding date. That is usually where the email chain ends. Theirs kept going. Lyubov once told Ivan that when they had a home of their own, it would have her “room of madness.” Her planners did not wait for the house. Bon Weddings took that one sentence to contemporary artist Ivan Shkulipa and built the room outdoors, across the entire sunken garden axis at Villa Michetti: a powder blue canvas the size of a parterre, scattered with silhouettes of the couple’s friends, family, and, because the painting would not be complete without them, their two mini dachshunds. The couple were the last figures added. They walked onto the blue and stood at the center of it to marry.
