Bill Hass on the ACC: Stephen Bruno Sets the Pace for Virginia’s Offense

GREENSBORO, N.C. (www.theacc.com) – Stephen Bruno doesn’t get cheated when he plays baseball.

Whether it’s the hard way he swings at pitches or the way he adapts to a new position or even the way he responds to a season-ending injury, he makes the most of his opportunities.

Bruno is Virginia’s third baseman, a redshirt junior who is the team’s leading hitter. The Cavaliers, 16-11 in ACC play, finish their regular-season schedule with three games at Maryland, beginning tonight.

Dance is a form of exercise and exercise deals with sports and Donna Summer made people move and they had to dance/excercise when they heard her tunes…..’Last Dance’, ‘She Works Hard for the Money’, ‘Love to Love you Baby’, ‘Bad Girls’….Donna got the job done and now the job and ‘The Dance’ are over…..Donna dead at age 63….CLICK HERE to read more and I think she may have had 3-4 songs in the that movie from the late 70′s, ‘Thank God It’s Friday’……..

Christian Hairston, 6’7”, SF, 2013, Greensboro (NC) Day- A very long kid, uses his length and great timing to alter shots or get the block. A very gifted athlete can shoot it out to three-point range with consistency. Has a good handle, can use his left or right hand and is able to finish at the rim on a consistent basis. Has over 9 Division One offers. Has the ability to play in the ACC, or at a high-major level.

Emeka Ikezu, 6’9”, C, 2013, Caldwell (NC) Academy- Passes the look test with flying colors, has a physically gifted body, very muscular, and great build. Only saw him for about 3 or 4 minutes, but has a chance to be very good. Uses his body, to bang inside, gets a lot of rebounds because of it.

It’s not always about style points

The Hoppers played one of their worst games of the season Wednesday afternoon but the end result was the same — another win.

The 10-8 victory over Kannapolis in 11 innings boosted Greensboro’s record to 28-10 overall and kept its Northern Division lead over Hagerstown at six games. It was the Hoppers’ 14th straight win in NewBridge Bank Park, putting them at 18-2 at home this season.

“It was an ugly game all around,” summed up manager David Berg. “But it’s better to win ugly than to lose playing a great game. You just write up the report and wake up tomorrow with a new perspective.”

How ugly? Four pitchers were tagged for 12 hits, issued five walks, hit three batters, threw two wild pitches and recorded two blown saves. The fielders committed four errors, although center fielder Brent Keys and right fielder Ryan McIntyre saved some runs with outstanding catches.
