Now is the perfect time for you, your class, group or organization to take the Augusta History Walk. The walk features many of the key historic buildings and monuments of Augusta and also tells several unique stories from the past, such as how the Civil War played a part in Augusta’s history, the importance of steamboats and railroads to the town and even a few mysteries. The tour begins at the American Legion Hut on 1st street, travels on through the downtown on Second Street and ends at the Augusta Memorial Cemetery. The walk usually last about an hour, but can be cut to a shorter time by request and customized to fit your group’s time schedule.

The tour is free and goes year round. If you would like to set up a walk for your group or class, please contact Augusta City Hall at: (870) 347-5656 or email cityman05@hotmail.com.

The annual spring open house for the White County Historic Museum, more commonly known as Pioneer Village will be May 5th-6th. Hours are 10:00 AM-4:00 PM on May 5th and 1:00 PM-4:00 PM on May 6th.

All the buildings will be open for touring. Costumed guides in the buildings as well as on the grounds will provide information as well as answer your questions.

We will have food, ice cream, kettle corn, coon skin caps, bonnets, and aprons for sale. In the Depot, there will be toys, handcrafted items, and basket making kits, along with the WCHS Cookbooks for sale. Antique trains will also be on display here. Vendors will also have items for sale.

Like any good community, we have our very own Sheriff and Deputy. They will usually ask you to check your guns at the store and not to spit on the sidewalks while in the village.

There will be live music as well as some clogging going on.

Children activities will be around the Little Rock School house. Activates include rolling hoops, stilts, and jumping rope. We will have a jump off contest this year for the young person that jumps the most times.

There are many other things to see and do too numerous to list.

Our food vendor will be cooking both days, so come spend the day with us. If you do come on Sunday, you will be able to come right from church and eat when you get here.

The village is located at 1166 Higginson Street, behind Land of Frost. Parking is free and available next to the village.

There is no admission charge. Donations are accepted.
