On Sunday I made a trip to the Oklahoma Aquarium just outside of Tulsa with the Photographic Alliance. Photographing in an aquarium can be a challenge. For tips on how to do it, see my article http://blog.gregdisch.com/2009/07/26/how-to-photograph-a-public-aquarium/
Here are some samples of the photos that I was able to capture. <div class="feedflare">

Frost flower formations are also referred to as &#8220;ice flowers&#8221;, &#8220;ice blossoms&#8221;, &#8220;frost castles&#8221;, &#8220;frost beard&#8221;, &#8220;ice castles&#8221;, or &#8220;ice ribbons&#8221;.
The formation of frost flowers, is apparently dependent on a freezing weather condition occurring when the ground is not already frozen. The sap in the stem of the plants will expand (water expands when frozen), [...]<div class="feedflare">
