Hey all! I hope everyone is gearing up for an amazing 2012… I for one am super excited about all the possibilities brewing in this new year, and have a ton of goals and great things planned. First things first, though is the first GG show of 2012. I’ve recently started working out of the most awesome co-working space in San Diego, 3rdSpace, and I’ll be performing at their art series called TRIART on Saturday, January 28th. The event features three talented San Diego artists, Cody Griffith, Shay Davis, and Taylor Gallegos. Should be a wonderful night of art, music, and creativity at one of the most creative spaces around.

Hey everyone! I wanted to wish you all a Happy Holiday season! It’s been quite a year for me, and although the last 4 or 5 months have been admittedly sparse when it comes to music related things for me, it has been a great few months. I got married to the most amazing woman in the world, honeymooned in Colombia (which I highly recommend for the travelers reading this), and visited Costa Rica again for work. Needless to say, it’s been busy… I also started working at the most awesome co-working space in San Diego, 3rdSpace! It’s right in the heart of University Heights, and is home to all sorts of great creative people. If you’re looking for a creative co-working spot, this is it!

It’s also that time of year again… A few of friends and I are compiling our Top 10 albums and songs of the year, and I thought I’d share mine here. If anything, maybe you can take a listen to everything, stir it up in a pot, and paint a picture of what the next Greg Gibson album will sound like! Yes, even (especially) the R&B and hip-hop… So here goes:

I had the pleasure of recording a session for RadioSophie’s Unsigned Sunday show this afternoon with veteran San Diego DJ Mookie. We had a great time chatting about local music, my forays into musical theatre, the recording of Black Glass, and Adele, whose song “Someone Like You” I played a surprise cover of, and who I learned Mookie has a habit of making his punchlines… It was a great time had by all! Alright, so here’s the deal. I got an amazing email out of the blue last Thursday morning saying that the fine folks over at NBC San Diego & SoundDiego music blog had picked me as one of the top 10 voices in San Diego. I’m incredibly honored to be included in this small group along with some good friends and great vocalists.

NBC San Diego invited all ten of us to the studio to record a short sample of our voices, and mine is airing this morning (Wed – 07/20) in the 5AM & 6AM hours on NBC 7/39.

The event is called “Heartbreak Underground,” and it’s a benefit for The Recreational Music Center – a nonprofit music education center for all-ages in San Diego. The show will also feature the Bucket Brothers, the Jessy Johnson Trio, and Skyline Union, as well as a display of local artists and great raffle prizes throughout the night.
