This is a bit late because I have many other projects I’ve been working on.  And I want to give a shout out to one in particular that I am becoming very proud of:  Marketing Software Tools.  Please go check it out when you have a chance.

The traffic generation results I’m going to share are through completely free sources.  I did not pay for this traffic directly.  What I mean, is simply that I do pay for some tools that help me but I did not pay for the traffic on a per click, solo ad (I will be adding this into my business model this month), or other similar means.

What Are The Traffic Generation Stats Telling Me For April?

If you reference my post about traffic generation stats for March, I explain that I wasn’t completely sure what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I figured it out and started off on this journey.

Here are the page views for each month:

• January = 6.09 (amazing)
• February = 3.49 (dropped but still a good number)
• March = 4.24 (a nice increase – still have one day left to go in March)
• April = 3.68 ( a slight decrease from March but still awesome)

What to me really says great things about what I’m doing is my bounce rate.  For April I ran a 59.09% – which means…

Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality – a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren’t relevant to your visitors. The more compelling your landing pages, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert. You can minimize bounce rates by tailoring landing pages to each keyword and ad that you run. Landing pages should provide the information and services that were promised in the ad copy.

How To Network Market

I don’t say this to piss you off or to make me look better than you.  Because, I only discovered this several months ago, and I’m not completely where I want to be.  I am however, using level 3 online marketing now and finding that I’m hitting my milestone a lot easier.

The 3 Levels of Online Marketing – Where Are You?

Let’s dissect each one…

• Focus on Money Marketing – This is when you lead with “how much money you can make.”  Although this marketing method works sometimes, it does turn off a lot of people.  You come off as a scammer.  Many newbies use this method and you see it a lot in MLM marketing.  An example is people leading with the company compensation plan.
• Focus on Freedom Marketing – This works better, especially when used in combination of money.  Basically people want freedom, but if you don’t have money, then how do you enjoy this time-freedom?  This is level 2 and we’re getting closer.
• Focus on Lifestyle Marketing – Freedom + Money = Lifestyle.  This is the key.  Everybody wants to live the lifestyle that they probably dream about all day long.  This is considered level 3 marketing.  And when you can do this well, you WILL see results.

If you know my story, you know that I failed at MLM twice before.  Hindsight being 20/20, there are two major reason why I failed.  The first, was because I was following the old worn out marketing methods that many of the Network Marketing companies still advocate.  And secondly, I focused on my company and leading with how much you could make.

This type of marketing did not set me apart!  :-(

What sets you apart is talking to people about achieving their lifestyle.  Think about it…isn’t that what got you in the business?  Or is that how you at least translated it?

What Is Lifestyle?

We could ask 100 people and most of them would have their own definition of what a perfect lifestyle is.  And that is cool because we are driven by our own goals.  I’m not talking about that.  I’m talking about the vehicle to achieving the lifestyle you want.

This is important so make sure you read it more than once…

 Lifestyle is achieved (no matter what it is) when you add Automation to residual income!

This has been my focus for the past several months, and combined with level 3 marketing has made all the difference.

Don’t get me wrong.  I focus on helping others and fully try to utilize attraction marketing to bring prospects and new business builders into my team personally or to members of my team.

We all want to live the lifestyle on our terms and we’re all looking for ways to do this. Level 3 online marketing addresses these goals.

This post explains why the residual income model is best and techniques you can utilize to drive more of this income to your home based business.

Some of you may be thinking, “Yeah I know residual income is cool and the smart way to go, but how do I focus on that?”  or some may think… “Ok Greg, are you going to sell me on some kind of business opportunity at the end of this post?” LOL, am I right that you are thinking that?

This is a no-pitch post simply because it really doesn’t matter which approach you take or which business opportunity you join, what matters is that you are not working to only get paid once.  Stop working so hard and getting paid only once.

This applies to everything you do online and off, for that matter.  So, with that being said let’s get into the details, so you can see the light.  :-)

Residual Income – Work Once and Get Paid Monthly

I want you to know that residual income requires the same amount of work (maybe slightly more) but it DOES allow you to get paid over and over again.  Do you agree with that statement?

So what is residual income actually?

I did a search to look for a “proper” definition, the best one I found was on Wikipedia:

Passive income is an income received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it.

The American Internal Revenue Service categorizes income into three broad types, active (earned) income, passive income, and portfolio income. It defines passive income as only coming from two sources: rental activity or “trade or business activities in which you do not materially participate.”^[1][2] Other financial and government institutions also recognize it as an income obtained as a result of capital growth or in relation to negative gearing. Passive income is usually taxable.

Bottom-line the search brought up the definition for residual income as passive income.  Tomato or Tamato, it all means the same thing – up front effort to be paid multiple times.  :-)

So given a choice, wouldn’t it make more sense working hard once for multiple revenue opportunities?

Residual Income and Your Ethics

I derive my income from several sources and I must admit they are not always residual income opportunities, but if I have my choice that is what I spend my time on.  The challenge is that occassionally there are great resources or tools that my readers need to hear about and they are a one-time cost.  That is ok as long as the QUALITY is of the highest caliber.

Since I brought up quality, please read below (if necessary read it a couple of times)…

I am guilty of recommending things in the past, but I do not do that anymore.  My criteria was, if it looked good and I thought it would help my reader I would suggest it.  But that is no longer good enough when you put your names on things.  You have to be absolutely sure that what you are recommending is solid, or you violate the trust of your readers.  When I first got online I didn’t realize how important this was, but I do now.

Recommending any product that drives residual income is no different.  It HAS TO DO what it claims.

 Residual Income and Your Business Model

No matter what type of business model you have, residual income is king!

I’m an online marketer for the last couple of years and I gravitate to online methods of residual income.

Several great examples of online business models are:

• Membership Sites / Continuity Programs (here’s an example of one of my sites – Call Center Best Practices – This industry is what I spent the better part of my adult life in.  This site generates a very nice residual income for me.  I actually hired a friend to manage it for me.  I generate passive income on a daily basis from this site and I don’t spend any time working on it.)
• Online Network Marketing;
• Affiliate Programs designed as re-occurring.

Several great examples of offline business models are:

• Memberships;
• Network Marketing
• Subscriptions

My Approach To Residual Income is Simple

I have a primary business that I make residual income (for saving people money ) To promote it I utilize attraction marketing principles, and this has been the difference from failing twice before to now being successful.  I don’t claim to know everything, but what I do know, has grown my business by leaps and bounds – Yeah!

I try to add value and by doing so, it helps me create strong lasting relationships.  In turn, I show my new found friends what I’m doing so they to can grow their business.  This is a win/win proposition.

Although I have combined both offline and online marketing techniques, I primary lead generate using online tactics and tools.  My up-line is a traditional MLM marketer so she doesn’t think what I’m doing makes any sense, that was up until about a month or so ago. She watches the numbers like a Hawk and she sees that I am now passing her up!  Hehe!

Residual Income Recommendations

I promised this wouldn’t be a pitch-fest blog post.  And I’m going to adhere to that statement.

… for the most part.  :-)

So here’s my recommendations for way to generate residual income…

1.  Find a Network Marketing company that excites you and join it!

2.  Set up an online presence – like your own personal blog and use attraction marketing principles to market yourself.

3.  Sign up for a company like MLSP, that way you can quickly create a complete in demand attraction marketing sales funnel, get continued education about network marketing and Internet Marketing, have an awesome, very high quality of product and system offerings that you will be proud to put your name on.

PS – Now go get some residual income!

Well this weekend, I’ve received over 300 “request to follow.”  I moved away from an automated system to manage my twitter account @GregMeares.  I may have to rethink this strategy based on the volume.

Anyway, since I do it manually, I look at each one, follow them if it makes sense and then send them a tweet.  Seems like 85% – 90% of the request to follow notifications I received  list themselves as a MLM coach.  Really?

Is there an official designation for this?  If so I think I missed it.  Or is it simply the fact that since they are in a MLM and working on building a business, they are automatically, by default, designated as an MLM coach.  At some point I guess this is correct because they eventually will have a downline and their downline will need coaching on how to build their own business.

Here’s what concerns me…

If Network Marketing has a failure rate of 97%, and many of these people are claiming themselves as a MLM coach, are they part of the 97% or of the 3%?

Let’s take this thought a bit further…

Are these MLM coaches working with a 3% or a 97% upline?

I think these are all valid questions that we need to ask.  Let’s assume your upline isn’t going to be a part of the 3% success rate, what does that mean for you?

Does that mean you’re doomed?

No, it doesn’t have to.  There are things you can do and tools you can use to make sure you get yourself lined up in the 3%.

How To Be in the 3% Success Rate of MLM

Let’s face it, to be in the 3% of the successful in your MLM, you’ll have to get good at the following:

All you have to do is those 3 things listed above and YOU will be successful.

The hard part is how to do them and keeping up the consistency.

• The Invitation – Ok before you can invite anybody to anything, you need to be able to generate leads.  Do you have a system in place to do this?  Once you set up your system to generate leads then you need to find an effective way to invite them to a presentation.  Do not try to sell them on your business, let the presentation do that.
• The Presentation – There are several methods you can utilize to present your prospects with your business.  You can do it online, you can combine off line with online by inviting them to the presentation offline then sending them to your presentation online.  Or you can even use your upline to do a 3-way call or maybe even to provide the presentation through a Webinar.  The choice is yours.  All 3 are effective.
• Follow-up and Close – This can be the most challenging and if you don’t have the tools or a great mentor to emulate this can be a challenge.  However, when you get good at this skill you income is unlimited.

So how do you get better at these three MLM success traits?

If you found a successful business would you know?  What criteria do you use to determine the success of that business?

I’m not trying to be a pain in your arse by asking you these questions, but I bet your a bit like me and really don’t have time to mess around with losers, am I right?

Let’s walk through these now…

Business Success Dynamic #1 – Your product should be priced BELOW retail.   Creates a win/win situation for you and your customer.

Business Success Dynamic #2 – Everybody must ALREADY use the product.  If you have to explain to people why they need your product then life is challenging.

Business Success Dynamic #3 – You shouldn’t have to educate people about the product.  If you have to explain what the product is then it is like pushing an elephant up the stairs.  This is one of the keys to duplication – you are not wasting anytime explaining the benefits.

Business Success Dynamic #4 – You don’t have to collect the money.  Habitually used and unconsciously purchased.

Business Success Dynamic #5 – Shouldn’t require your consumer to change their buying habits.  Like using auto-ship.  Nothing against auto-ship but it can be challenging to convince your customers.  The difference between a Product based business and a Service based business.

It really comes down to the benefits of a service based business:

• No Inventory
• No Delivery
• No Collecting Money
• Product is Understood

So, when you are looking for your financial vehicle to invest in (time, energy and money), you may want to lean towards a service based business.  This type of business might be your fastest financial vehicle to help you achieve your goals.
