Tonight, May 7, 2026, ABC aired the 18th episode for Grey's Anatomy's current season 22, and it was indeed the finale episode, but we're happy to report that it was not the last episode forever.

According to a recent report from <a href="https://deadline.com/2026/03/greys-anatomy-renewed-season-23-abc-cast-return-status-1236769222/"target="blank"> Deadline.com , ABC did officially renew Grey's Anatomy for a brand new season 23. So, you guys can expect more new episodes to show up at some point in the future.

ABC actually renewed Grey's Anatomy pretty early back at the end of March 2026. So, they must have been quite happy with its performance.

Deadline is also reporting that Kevin McKidd's Owen Hunt and Kim Raver's Teddy Altman characters will not be returning as series regulars for the new season 23.

Hey, "Grey's Anatomy" fans. We've got some pretty interesting news for you guys in this article. It's in reference to the show's leading lady Ellen Pompeo aka character Meredith Grey. It turns out that she had a lot of secrets to tell during a recent interview with actress Taraji P. Henson, who plays character Cookie Lion on FOX's hit drama "Empire."

Ellen and Taraji apparently did this interview as part of a special Actors on Actors chat according to the folks over at <a href="https://people.com/tv/ellen-pompeo-mission-fix-greys-anatomy-toxic-work-environment/"target="blank"> People.com. During the interview, Ellen opened up and revealed that the work environment for Grey's Anatomy behind-the-scenes was anything but pleasant for the first 10 years. In fact, it was quite toxic!

She stated,"The first 10 years we had serious culture issues, very bad behavior and a really toxic work environment. However, once I started having kids, it became no longer about me. I needed to provide for my family.

At 40 years old, where am I ever going to get this kind of money? I need to take care of my kids. But after season 10, we had some big shifts in front of the camera and behind the camera."

After that, Ellen went on to explain that she decided to make it her mission to make the Grey's Anatomy set a better place to work. She also mentioned that the show's creator Shonda Rhimes has been amazing to her.

In Ellen's efforts to turn the Grey's Anatomy set around, she explained,"It became my goal to have an experience there that I could be happy and proud about, because we had so much turmoil for 10 years. My mission became, this can’t be fantastic to the public and a disaster behind the scenes.

We turned the culture around. I’ve hit some marks that have made me feel accomplished in a different way. Creator Shonda Rhimes has been amazing. She lets us be mothers. I don’t have to travel, and I don’t have to go anywhere."

During this conversation, Ellen also talked about how she decided to prove that she could carry the show after Derek Shepherd star Patrick Dempsey left in season 11. Apparently, ABC didn't think the show could continue to be successful without him!

Ellen stated, "Patrick Dempsey left the show in season 11, and the studio and network believed the show could not go on without the male lead. So I had a mission to prove that it could. I was on a double mission."

Ellen also went on to talk about her $20 million dollar yearly salary that she had negotiated. During this part of the conversation, things got real interesting because she revealed that the $20 million dollars was nothing compared to what Patrick Dempsey was making for the Derek Shepherd role! Apparently, he was pulling in double that amount!

People.com also pointed out that not only does Ellen rake in the dough for acting in the 25 episodes that the show usually produces each season, she also gets broken off a cut for helping to produce the Grey's Anatomy spin off show, "Station 19." They also give her a fat seven-figure signing bonus to go along with the $20 million dollars.

Lastly, Ellen revealed that she's really been focusing on achieving some pretty big goals behind the scenes of Grey's Anatomy as of late stating, "Every once in a while we do an amazing storyline. However, for the last five years, I’ve had other milestones that we were trying to achieve behind the camera." And that's it, guys. That's everything Ellen shared in this particular conversation.

How do you guys feel about Ellen Pompeo's very revealing statement about Grey's Anatomy behind-the-scenes? Let us know in the comments section.

Alright guys. That's all we've got for this latest "Grey's Anatomy" report, but definitely stay tuned for more. We're expecting some new season 16 intel to come out anytime now.

Hey, Grey's Anatomy fans. We hope you guys are enjoying your weekend. We've got some pretty interesting news on the bracket today. It turns out that a huge fan favorite Sandra Oh aka Cristina Yang was ,once again, recently asked by the press to reveal if she would ever return to reprise her Cristina role on the show that made her famous, Grey's Anatomy.

For the time being, I don't think you guys are going to like her answer too much. Apparently, she currently feels really great with her new "Killing Eve" role over on the BBC. According to the folks over at <a href="https://people.com/tv/sandra-oh-reveals-why-she-wont-return-to-greys-anatomy/"target="blank"> People.com , Sandra told a reporter from Extra exactly how she felt when the reporter asked her if she would ever return to Grey's Anatomy.

Sandra stated, "You know, I gotta tell you. You guys keep on asking me that question. I just got to tell you, creatively you have moved on and while I know, and I deeply appreciate it, because I can feel it from the fans how much they love Cristina and that the show also still keeps Cristina alive. For me, "Killing Eve" is my home now. This is where I am. I am Eve, and that’s where I plan to stay as long as the show will have me, and that’s really where I want to be."

People.com went on to point out that Sandra pretty much said the same thing back in a 2017 interview with Access. When they asked her if she would ever return to Grey's Anatomy, Sandra told them, "At this point, no, I don’t think so."

However, in another instance she said she doesn't know. Apparently, Sandra had a conversation with the show's creator Shonda Rhimes about possibly returning if the series came to an end, and Sandra answered that with a, "I just don’t know. It would have to feel right.”

What I gather from all of that is that Sandra just doesn't want to return to Grey's Anatomy right now. I put the emphasis on "right now" because you can never really say never. With that said, it is looking highly unlikely that Sandra would ever reprise her Cristina Yang role in the future.

People.com pointed out that Sandra is doing very well for herself these days. She recently become the first Asian performer to ever win multiple Golden Globe awards. She won the award for "Best Actress In A Television Drama" for her role in the new "Killing Eve" TV show. So, much congrats to Sandra.

Sandra played the Cristina Yang character for a very long 10 seasons. She joined Grey's Anatomy in 2005 and left in 2014.

How do you guys feel about what Sandra said in her most recent interview about returning to Grey's Anatomy some day? Do you think she'll ever change her mind? Or are you convinced that we have indeed seen the last of Cristina Yang? Let us know in the comments.

Alright guys. That's all we've got for this latest Grey's Anatomy report, but definitely stay tuned for more.

Happy Sunday, Grey's Anatomy fans. We hope you guys are enjoying your weekend. We've got a new report for all of you Sarah Drew aka April Kepner fans out there. It turns out that she had little bit more to say about her departure from Grey's Anatomy with the folks over at <a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/sarah-drew-still-feels-connected-to-her-greys-anatomy-character/"target="blank"> Us Magazine .

As most of you may recall, Sarah was laid off from Grey's Anatomy for reported creative reasons. The showrunner Krista Vernoff said they just didn't have anymore story to tell for April Kepner. At the time, Krista said the same thing for Jessica Capshaw's Arizona Robbin character.

During Sarah's latest interview with Us Magazine, she told them that she thinks the April Kepner character is still apart of her in some way since she had to play the character for nine months out of the year. Sarah also feels like she said goodbye to her April character in a healthy way and is looking forward to the future.

She stated, "She’s part of me, and she’ll always be part of me, you know? She’s lived kind of inside my skin for nine months of the year for nine years, so yeah, she does feel like part of me, but I really do feel like I got to say goodbye to her in a really healthy way. I feel like I'm onto the next. I feel like it was a beautiful season of my life, and I’m so thankful for it in very way and I’m just excited about the future now.”

Us Magazine pointed out that Sarah had some pretty emotional things to say about Grey's Anatomy in her last interview with them. At that time, she said it was painful to watch the show now because it seemed like her TV family had moved on with out her. She stated, "It’s a little painful to go and watch your family move on without you, but I wish everybody the best and I know they’re having a wonderful time."

Next, they revealed that Sarah has a new production out called, "Christmas Pen Pals." She explained that she actually met her husband through being pen pals with him first. She stated, "My husband Peter Lanfer, and I worked at a camp together and he started writing me handwritten letters after the camp. We lived across the country from each other. So, it was all through handwritten letters and in a letter he asked me for my email dress. In an email he asked for my phone number and then we started calling and our first date was eight months after we started writing letters to one another. It’s very romantic.”

After that, Sarah talked about the wonderful times she spends with her husband saying,"We have two little kids, so most date nights for us is just getting out of the house and going out to dinner and having a nice bottle of wine. We love going to eat at different kinds of places and try[ing] really fun cuisines."

Sarah's new "Christmas Pen Pals" TV movie aired on December 15, 2018. The synopsis for it reads like this, "Following an unexpected breakup weeks before Christmas, Hannah (Drew), tech wiz and creator of the dating app, Perfect One, heads home for the holidays, challenged to save her failing business by re-conceiving a new romantic dating model.

Upon her return she runs into her high school boyfriend, Sam (Matter) who she has carefully avoided for years and reluctantly makes a deal with her dad, Ted (Gross) to sign up for the town's Christmas Cupid, an anonymous holiday pen pal service. As the season progresses, Hannah is smitten by each beautifully written letter she receives and starts to believe that her Christmas pen pal could be her soul mate.

It's not until Christmas Eve that everyone must reveal their true identities to their pen pals, even if it means coming face to face with the last person they ever expected." You guys can watch it over at Amazon.com by <a href="http://ontheflix.com/cpenpals"target="blank"> Clicking Here.

Happy Monday, "Grey's Anatomy" fans. We have a pretty interesting report for you guys today in reference to the main character of your favorite show Meredith Grey. The current showrunner Krista Vernoff recently made a pretty shocking reveal about Meredith's character with the folks over at the <a href="http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/la-et-st-greys-anatomy-krista-vernoff-20181107-story.html"target="blank"> Los Angeles Times.

She claims that in today's storyline's there was no way Meredith would've ended up with character Derek Shepherd played by actor Patrick Dempsey! She said with the Time's Up and #MeToo movement that's going on it's likely not a story they would try to tell.

She explained, "If you look at, for example, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) through the lens of Time’s Up and #MeToo. He was her boss. She was an intern, and she kept saying, ‘No, walk away from me,’ and he kept pursuing her, and that is probably not a story we would tell on the show today, and it’s a beautiful reflection of the changing times."

What do you guys think of that bold statement about Meredith not ever hooking up with Derek Shepherd in today's era? Let us know in the Facebook comments.

Krista went on to talk about the storylines she's currently writing for Meredith's character. It turns out that she's setting up a love triangle with Meredith and Andrew DeLuca being two pieces of that triangle. She explained, "This season, we’re doing a little bit of a reversal as we begin to build this love triangle that’s emerging with DeLuca as one the people in that triangle, and he is a resident and Meredith is an attending, and we’re having to address it differently than we ever would have before.

We’re having to talk about and look at power dynamics. It is an ongoing conversation in the writer’s room. How do we tell that story in a way that feels honest and romantic and sexy and yet proactive and progressive?"

Aside from the shocking Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd statement, Krista revealed some other interesting stuff about her working relationship with the creator of Grey's Anatomy Shonda Rhimes. She revealed that Shonda started it, and then decided to hand if off to her in season 14.

She stated, "I'm only beginning to fully understand this gift that creator Shonda Rhimes gave me in handing me a show in its 14th season. It's like Shonda gave birth to the baby, but I helped her raise it for the first seven years, and then we broke up — not really, we stayed friends but I went on and did other things for seven years, and she raised this kid. Then the kid was 14 and she was like, "Ugh, I'm tired, it's your turn."

She went on to reveal that she wanted to reinspire the Grey's Anatomy cast when she returned after being gone for seven years. She explained, "It was both exciting and daunting because when I came in, people were tired and had been in these trenches for 14 years. That's a long time. So, I felt like part of my job was also to come in and reinspire the cast and crew.

To say like, "I am not tired. I have been away for seven years. I got to come in and Ellen would look at me some days. I'd be bouncing around that set and she'd be like, "You know, Krista, I know it's all fresh and shiny for you now, but you're going to get tired again soon.” I feel like part of my job as that showrunner was to help everyone wake up and get excited again, and I think I've done that."

Lastly, Krista made a statement about the ending of Grey's Anatomy, and her response was quite positive as she doesn't see that an ending is near. She stated, "I won't begin to plan the end of the show until Shonda and Ellen and ABC all sit me down and say this is the end of the show. I don't think it's my job alone to figure out where Meredith Grey ends, but I'm not planning the end because so far it doesn't feel true to me that it's ending."

Also, as previously reported, Meredith Grey's portrayer Ellen Pompeo recently made a statement about how she must keep doing the show because it touches so many people's lives. She stated to Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show, "A teenager was in the show, and he was gay, and played a gay character on the show. After we had filmed the whole entire episode he said, ‘My whole life, I’ ve watched the show with my parents, and I’ve sort of used the show to tell my parents I’m gay.

To show my parents: It’s okay that I’m not different and there’s nothing wrong with me. Grey’s really helped my parents to understand what having a gay son meant and that it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.’ I got to keep doing it, man, because we’re touching lives and making a difference."

Alright guys. That's a wrap for this latest Grey's Anatomy report, but definitely stay tuned for more. Happy Thursday, "Grey's Anatomy" fans. We're back with another session that reveals some pretty shocking and interesting, past secrets about Grey's Anatomy that you might not know. As stated last time, the secrets come straight from the lips of Grey's Anatomy creator herself Shonda Rhimes.

Kristina Rodulfo over at <a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/movies-tv/news/a44772/greys-anatomy-unknown-facts/"target="blank">Elle.com recently revealed these secrets in an article after attending a television writing class that was held by Shonda. During this class, Shonda revealed these crazy secrets about the show. They have to do with production and ideas for some of the characters that never quite made it on the show.

The first secret for this session was that Meredith's mother actually had a different name other than Ellis when she was originally created. Shonda revealed that she actually wanted to name her Helen. That's nothing too crazy. Helen would've worked, but it is still a hidden production secret none the less.

The second production secret was that Meredith's voiceovers were originally supposed to be from visits to her Alzheimer's-stricken mother.

The 3rd production secret is that Shonda knows a lot more things about each character even if those things don't make it on to the show. Shonda said she always keeps those certain secret things in the back of her mind. She gave one example which was to make Preston Burke feel real, she constantly told herself that his mother owned a restaurant in Alabama. She stated, "Those details were very important for me and internalized."

The 4th production secret was that Grey's anatomy was actually inspired by a different show that Shonda couldn't get approved for production. Shonda had originally pitched a show about war correspondents. The United Stated was at war during this time. So, that idea didn't go over well.

Instead, Shonda decided to combine what she liked about the original war correspondents show with medicine. She explained, "I just liked that feeling. A bunch of overly smart people fighting for their space." In the pitch, she wrote, "Like WarCor, there's that sense of being war buddies, of being different, of seeing the rest of the world as civilians."

The 5th production secret was that Grey's Anatomy's main lady Meredith Grey's point of views shares similarities to Carrie's articles in the famous "Sex and The City" show. That's right. While pitching Grey's Anatomy, Rhimes compared Meredith's point of view to "a more grounded version of Carrie's articles in Sex and the City." Shonda admitted that she went as far as to informally call Grey's Anatomy "Sex in the Surgery!" It wasn't her favorite way to sell the show, but it worked.

The 6th production secret revealed that Shonda originally wanted to set Grey's Anatomy in her hometown of Chicago. However, since she didn't want Grey's Anatomy to be set in the same place as the show ER, she decided to go with Seattle, Washington. She said, "Seattle felt fresh to me. Seattle felt like a city I hadn't seen in television a lot."

The 7th production secret was that Miranda Bailey's character was originally going to be cast as a "tiny blonde with curls!" Now that's pretty shocking to say the very least. Shonda went on to explain how she came up with such a diverse cast for all of her shows.

She follows a couple of development rules to prevent cliches. She explained, "Take half the characters that you made men, and make them women. Take one character you were gonna cast one color and cast them differently. I think it's important for people to rethink because what people see on television changes what people think about themselves."

The 8th production secret was Grey's Anatomy actually forever changed the way Shonda decided to write characters. After casting actress Chandra Wilson as Bailey, Rhimes no longer described characters' physical traits, like "beautiful." Instead, she goes for an aura or feeling. For Denny, who was the patient with a chronic heart condition that Izzie Stevens fell in love with in season 2. The character note was "he has a quality that makes you want to lick him."

Lastly, the 9th production secret was that Shonda deliberately had Meredith and the Cristina Yang character drink so much tequila was because "you never saw women drinking on TV. Women weren't the hard drinkers."

Alright guys. That wraps it up for this list of shocking production secrets from Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes.

Don't forget another brand new episode of Grey's Anatomy airs tonight,November 8, 2018 at approximately 7 pm central standard time on ABC. Stay tuned. Hey, Grey's Anatomy fans. We've got a special post for you guys today. We did a little digging around and discovered that Kristina Rodulfo over at <a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/movies-tv/news/a44772/greys-anatomy-unknown-facts/"target="blank">Elle.com actually signed up for a television writing masterclass that Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes held. In this class, Kristina revealed that Shonda gave away some original and early draft secrets for her hit show Grey's Anatomy! They also included alternative scenes, the Grey's "story bible' and original pitch Rhimes wrote for Grey's Anatomy way back in 2004.

From that, Kristina revealed some very interesting and shocking script facts and secrets that never, ever made it to the show. We'll go over ten of them in this article. We might post more of them in another article depending on how this one does. So, your feedback is highly important.

The first script secret Shonda gave away was that Grey's Anatomy wasn't even going to be the name of the show! She originally wanted to name it "Surgeons." In fact, that was her original pitch to ABC. I don't know about you guys, but I think Grey's Anatomy is so much more catchy. We're glad she went with Grey's Anatomy instead.

The second script secret was that Seattle, Washington was not going to be the location for the doctors. Original location plans included: Boston, Philadelphia, or New York City. Shonda wrote,"This is not a small town life. Big city, big medical center, big surgical opportunities."

The third script secret was that Shonda was absolutely certain of the kind of tone Grey's Anatomy would have. She wrote, "I don't believe in melodrama and I don't believe in EARNEST SAPPY MOMENTS."

The fourth script secret was that Shonda knew her characters so well that she stuffed all their lockers. She revealed it in her character descriptions. She wrote that Meredith had "stacks of old birthday cards she was planning to mail but never got around to" and "three alarm clocks because she's terrified of oversleeping on her breaks." George O'Malley's contents "come from fear—med journals and old text books." Cristina Yang's locker included "a Palm Pilot featured with the latest research articles, high heels to go out in after work and condoms because you never know."

The fifth script secret was that Alex Karev's character was not originally included in Shonda's pilot script. He was actually added after the pilot episode was filmed.

The sixth script secret was that Cristina was going to fall in love with dying patient Denny instead of Izzie Stevens.

The seventh script secret was that Derek Shepherd's character was going to have a teenage daughter in addition to being divorced. If the teenage daughter had gone on to exist, she was supposed to convince Derek to take the job at the hospital. Shonda originally wrote, "This is his chance to make up for all the mistakes he made with her when she was younger. It's going to be far more difficult than he bargained for."

The eighth script secret was that Chief Richard Webber's character was "not a warm man—with his patients, with his students and with his family."

The ninth script secret was that Preston Burke's character was supposed to already be married. He was originally supposed to have a wife and kids that made him feel "trapped." His original plotline revolved around him wanting to leave his wife.

Last, but most certainly not least, the tenth script secret was that Miranda Bailey's character was originally going to be named Deborah and have a totally different personality which entailed being: "surly, quirky, and sorely lacking in people skills." She also was supposed to get into an "odd but hot" sexual relationship with George.

Happy Thursday, "Grey's Anatomy" fans. We know you guys must be excited to see your favorite show return to ABC's primetime line up tonight. We have some news that's pretty exciting and touching at the same time. Recently, the main star of Grey's Anatomy Ellen Pompeo aka Meredith Grey recently shared a very emotional and heartfelt story about how the show has helped people.

After she told this story, it made her say that she just has to continue doing the show. Apparently, it's just touching too many people's lives for her to just quit and ignore it. The moment we're talking about happened when Ellen recently did another interview with Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show this past Tuesday, October 24, 2018 according to the folks over at <a href="https://people.com/tv/ellen-pompeo-greys-anatomy-impact-gay-teenager/"target="blank"> People.com.

At one point, Ellen mentioned that she gets approached by fans with literal tears in their eyes, telling her how meaningful the show is to them! Then she told one story about a male, gay teenager who played a gay character on the show. The teenager told Ellen that the show actually helped him come out to his parents about being gay. It also helped his parents understand that it's ok to have a gay son.

Ellen explained with tears in her eyes, "A teenager was in the show, and he was gay, and played a gay character on the show. After we had filmed the whole entire episode he said, ‘My whole life I’ve watched the show with my parents and I’ve sort of used the show to tell my parents I’m gay. To show my parents: It’s okay that I’m not different and there’s nothing wrong with me. Grey’s really helped my parents to understand what having a gay son meant and that it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.’ "

After Ellen revealed that story, she became very emotional and said, "I got to keep doing it, man, because we’re touching lives and making a difference."

People.com went on to point out that Ellen was recently honored with a GLSEN Respect Award from the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network for striving for gender parity in Hollywood. The organization presented her with the Inspiration Award for her work with organizations like the child provision charity Baby2Bay, the Children’s Defense Fund, and the disability employment advocacy service Lifeworks, as well as her open support for LGBTQ equality and the #TimesUp movement.

How do you guys feel about Ellen Pompeo's very touching Grey's Anatomy story, and it actually making her say she just has to keep doing the show? Let us know in the Facebook comments.

I can tell you that it definitely sounds like good news for the longevity of the show. As previously reported, the Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has stated in the past that as long as Ellen wants to keep doing Grey's Anatomy, they'll keep making them. However on the flip side of that, she said that the show would end when Ellen is ready to quit. So, right now, things are looking great. Ellen has also said that as long as you guys, the fans want to see more Grey's Anatomy, she will keep doing it.

Alright guys. That's going to wrap it up for this latest Grey's Anatomy report. Don't forget, another Grey's Anatomy, all new episode is scheduled to air tonight, October 25, 2018 after it's one-week hiatus. It's going to air in the same 7 pm central time slot on ABC. Hey, "Grey's Anatomy" fans. We've got some new, sad intel for you guys in regards to former April Kepner star Sarah Drew. If you guys recall, she was one of the recent casualties of a big Grey's Anatomy story last season where she was let go with her fellow castmate Jessica Capshaw aka Arizona Robbins.

According to a new report from the folks over at <a href="https://people.com/tv/sarah-drew-not-watching-greys-anatomy/"target="blank"> People.com , Sarah didn't have the greatest news to tell the press out in Beverly Hills, California this past Sunday, October 7, 2018, when reporters asked her about the current 15th season of Grey's Anatomy. She had attended the 2018 Rape Foundation annual brunch. Apparently, Sarah is so broken up about not being on Grey's Anatomy anymore that she just can't watch any of the season 15 episodes! She feels like her TV family is just moving on without her. Awww.

She stated, "I haven’t been watching. You know, it‘s a little painful to kind of go and watch your family move on without you." Despite all of Sarah's sad feelings, she did wish all her former castmembers the best of luck. She stated, "I wish everybody the best ,and I know they’re having a wonderful time."

On a bit of a brighter note, the current Grey's Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff recently told the folks over at <a href="https://tvline.com/2018/10/02/sarah-drew-greys-anatomy-season-15-april-returning/"target="blank"> TV Line to never say never on the possibility of April actually returning to the series in the future. Apparently, a fan asked TV Line this very question in one of their regular spoiler chat sessions.

A fan named Michelle asked them, "Is there any chance April might come back to Grey’s Anatomy now that Jackson’s all religious?"

TV Line's main editor and chief Michael Ausiello responded by saying, "Never say never,” teases showrunner Krista Vernoff, hastening to add, “That’s what I said when people asked me if I was coming back to Grey’s when I left Season 7. I said, ‘Never say never,’ and look” — years later, she returned. But despite that (and despite Sarah Drew’s availability to guest-star, since her Cagney & Lacey reboot wasn’t picked up by CBS), “I’m not promising anything for this season,” Vernoff clarifies. “But at Shondaland, those doors are open."

So, who knows? Maybe we'll see April Kepner on Grey's Anatomy some day in the future. We should definitely not expect her back in season 15 though. Back in August 2018, Sarah spoke about her sudden Grey's Anatomy layoff during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter website. It was very interesting because she revealed the reason she was told for the layoff.

Apparently, the show had so many season regulars that they just had to downsize or else some characters would just be left in the background with hardly any stories. Sarah explained, "I was told that the show had too many characters and that they needed to downsize because they couldn’t service all of the characters effectively. They didn’t want any of us to be left in the background and not getting much of a story. Because there were so many series regulars, they needed to downsize and to find some characters that they felt like they could tie up their stories well."

Sarah revealed that her layoff was very painful to her when it happened, but she's now trying to look at it in a positive light. She stated, "Being let go was painful when it happened, but in retrospect, I think it would have been hard for me to walk away from that job. I was on it for nine years. It feels right and it feels like a good time to move on to something else with all the great love in my heart that I have for everybody and respect and gratitude for what that experience was. Playing a character for nine years is a long haul."

Sarah did land a new acting gig right after getting let go from Grey's Anatomy. It was going to be a reboot of CBS' old Cagney and Lacey show. Unfortunately, CBS decided not to pick up the show. So, Sarah is still totally available if Grey's Anatomy comes calling again.

How do you guys feel about former April Kepner star Sarah Drew not being able to bring herself to watch any of the new season 15 Grey's Anatomy episodes? Let us know in the Facebook comments.

Oh, we have a piece of bonus information for guys for season 15. TV Line revealed a brief teaser about the new doctor guy Nico during their spoiler chat session. Apparently, Nico has a beautiful love story coming up. A fan named Eduardo asked them, "Can you give us any scoop about Levi and Nico’s possible romance in Season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy?"

They responded by saying, "I think we can safely drop the “possible” from your question. Showrunner Krista Vernoff confirmed to our sister site Deadline that Nico, the new gay surgeon played by Alex Landi, “has a beautiful love story coming up this season.” And although Vernoff did not specify “Glasses” as the object of his affection, we feel pretty comfortable doing so."

An all new episode of Grey's Anatomy season 15 is scheduled to air tonight,October 11, 2018 at approximately 7 pm central standard time on ABC. Stay tuned.
